Hi, I’m Tabi-ie It's a fresh episode of the Hermit Crab Trail series, staying in a different kind of van I borrowed Mercedes-Benz Sprinter campervan It's my first time with Left-hand drive and it’s a real challenge Driving down a rainy highway, heading to Yoro in Gifu Prefecture As you’d expect from Mercedes, the ride is very stable It feels like a passenger car even though it’s very big The Mercedes Sprinter van is 204 centimeters wide I'm a bit nervous on narrow roads Phew, we arrived safely. It was nerve-wracking for me I’m staying at "Yusen no Sato" in Yoro city A campground with its own onsen, perfect! * Onsen = hot spring baths Check-in is complete. I rented a powered site Reversing feels safe using the rear camera The Sprinter is 592 centimeters long It's about 50 centimeters longer than the HiAce I usually drive Let's check ou the interior The Sprinter is 290 centimeters tall The interior height is about 190 centimeters. The high ceiling feels comfy Sitting on the bench seat... I could zone out forever The kitchen sink is spacious and impressive Campervans don’t normally have good water pressure but this is great Tucked away, there’s also a cassette gas stove This rental campervan has everything. You can rock up empty-handed

It’s all here, cutlery, pots, knives – the lot The water tank holds a generous 20 litres And down here, a fridge Back here it’s pretty much a double bed. Wide and comfortable There's cramped feeling at all The bench seat unfolds to become another bed Now, let’s hit the shops We've arrived at a nearby supermarket. This is how it looks in the carpark It overhangs the car space a bit Shopping’ sorted Tonight, we'll try making the new local specialty, "Yoro Meshi" Throwing stuff into the fridge Yoro Meshi... in plain terms it's a yakiniku donburi (grilled meat bowl) Apparently, there are some important rules We need "gourd-shaped pickled eggplant" This supermarket didn't have any, so I'll use with regular pickled eggplant Now, let's head back to the campsite Connecting to the power supply A high-capacity BLUETTI portable battery The power capacity works out to 12.000Wh No way I can use all that power LOL The external power plug goes here Okie, preparations complete! I'll get the rice going before hitting the onsen The kitchen lacks atmosphere... maybe an LED lamp can add a bit of flair

Hmm, that's nicer The camping vibe’s instantly improved I'll cook the rice in a single-serve rice cooker About half a cup of rice And kinda sorta the right amount amount of water Yeah, near enough Flick a switch and it’s all happening Time to fling myself into the onsen *onsen = hot spring bath As I headed back, an awesome discovery... It’s the "gourd-shaped pickled eggplant"! I returned triumphantly, bearing my prize Now we can really start making dinner! Wow, the rice is perfect! It looks perfectly cooked This van has aircon, let’s use it Plenty of plates Now how to use this IH cooktop... Like this? A bit of trial and error Firstly, I'll make a fried egg Done Next, I'll stir-fry the yakiniku It's seasoned kalbi (rib meat) with garlic sprouts I'll cut the "gourd-shaped pickled eggplant," but what makes them special? Aaah, it's really a gourd shape! Cutest pickled eggplant ever! Hehehe... I'll serve the rice Add the grilled meat Put the fried egg on top A sprinkle of green onion Finally, the "gourd-shaped pickled eggplant" complete the dish "Yoro Meshi" looks delicious I'll set up the bed instead of using a chair Oh yeah! I got beer! Well then, cheers to car camping! Ahh! It's delicious Let’s dig in! Itadakimasu Yakiniku rice, it’s safely delicious But what does “gourd-shaped pickled eggplant” taste like? Oh, same as normal pickled eggplant It goes nicely with rice The “gourd-shaped pickled eggplant” is hitting the spot I'll add more Mmm, delicious! I could eat rice just with this I'm getting kinda tipsy In the onsen gift shop there was a souvenir called "Kurikinton Orikasane Mochi" I get it now, it's a soft mochi I love this Mmm, delicious Time to tidy up I'll check out the bed area Oooh, this is nice ♪ This is good The portable batteries are below here Brush my teeth I realized something amazing I can play my favourite glasses lottery game! Did I bring my glasses on this trip??? Let's find out Got ‘em! It's fun to play Glasses Lottery again after so long Trekking to the toilet Nice and clean inside There's a garbage station here too I'll come to throw away the rubbish tomorrow Well then, nighty-night Next morning - The rain’s stopped I slept comfortably Time to get changed Ready, set... Changed! I'll make breakfast now A hot sandwich I got a single-slice hot sandwich maker Cheese-filled meatballs will fit nicely Done and looking delicious Itadakimasu Hot hot hot! And oh so yummy.
