Guangzhou, China is MILES AHEAD of the WORLD! | China is THE FUTURE
this feels like alien technology welcome to the future !! we have not seen these anywhere hello hello and welcome to Guangzhou we arrived here yesterday we arrived last night and today we are here on Beijing Lu pedestrian street the very popular pedestrian street here but actually I have to say right now seems pretty tame pretty calm I think that this place gets busy at night but we are so very happy to be here in Guangzhou we made it to the South finally it is so much warmer here you guys we are back in the land of hot hot weather even like a little sweaty I have to say but it's so so nice but we are out this morning we are going to be exploring Guangzhou today the third largest city here in China we are so looking forward to seeing this place I already think that we're going to love it, it feels very relaxed and laid back for quite a large city I have to say but all right so we're on Beijing Lu because we're staying in this area we've been very fortunate since being in China that the location of our hotels have been in central places so it's literally in walking distance wherever we stay look at all of the wall art the murals I don't know what this is but that looks pretty cool as well I'm sure this place comes to life at night right now people are setting up their stores it's not that early during the day it's gone past midday we had a long travel day yesterday because we got in from Zhangjiajie straight down down here to Guangzhou so that is over 1,000 km in less than 6 hours on that train that was impressive lovely day What's Happening Here We got some exotic animals and birds and butterflies and things some fish some rabbits there oh drinks already drinks already that is giving me ideas that's good because we could do with a drink to start our day off we absolutely could like I just said before you guys the weather is much much hotter here it's about 32° today so it's so super humid the shorts are out this is the first ever time you're wearing shorts in China right I thought my shorts would never make an appearance here in China but finally Guangzhou is bringing the good weather that looks pretty cool hey look at this these are lion faces or dragon faces these are the ones that we normally use over the New Year these are lion faces yes yes okay beautiful oh check these ones out we got the the tiny lion faces as well oh that is so cool love it look at that it's very good are you getting something yes this lovely lady is just telling me that Guangzhou is very famous for its food and she was telling me I should have some morning dim sum okay do you recommend any place okay you can go straight here and no no it's really good it's really good there we go you go straight about 200 M yes and turn right turn left okay yeah left we have some famous food yeah I don't know how to say about it okay like the food Street yes oh that's definitely where we're going though we'll go straight so straight and then left after 200M yeah that way and then left okay thank you thank you byebye that was so sweet she came over and said is this your first time? and I was like yes she gave us some good recommendations though so we should go straight okay straight down to the left 200 M Guangzhou has always played a very important part in China's history and in China's modern times as well because it has a history of over 2,000 years so the Western Traders have been coming down here and they probably gave it the name Canton hence the term cantonese came about is what I've heard again don't come after me if that's not accurate that's what I've heard but even today Guangzhou is very important in terms of trade red man yes red man okay that's fine these bikes however on the other hand oh my gosh the traffic here is Fast and the Furious everyone is rushing down here this is the closest we've actually felt to being in Southeast Asia whilst being in China because the traffic here is on another level but that's cool it's the hustle and the bustle that we're after green man here let's go and it's the humidity too that makes us feel like we're back in Southeast Asia yeah it's very similar in terms of climate but like Taz was saying Guangzhou is really important because it used to be and it still is a huge trading City it has a massive port and it was always very important in history because that is where all the international trading happened it all came through the port here in Guangzhou we're excited to explore it's also known as the city of flowers if you didn't know so I think it's going to be decorative colorful bright I'm looking forward to this place already we're getting now to what feels a bit busier more lights more music is this the food street that the lovely girl back there was sending us to I think yeah she was directing us down here oh guess what I've seen what have you seen I've seen what I have been loving on this trip to China that is the Yogurt Cow you know what I haven't seen any Mixue so far so that's a bit sad but this one here this happens to be our new favorite now no sadness really because you're like yeah I want to just have one of these I'll find a quick replacement so let's go get a drink get our day started we've got a full schedule ahead of us today because Guangzhou is a massive City and there's so much to do down here but first let's get something to drink okay so I have so far tried the top three already I've tried more than top three I've tried the mango one as well I would like to go for one of these ones here so let me just do a quick translation and find out what's what there's some strawberry Mochi just came up on the screen is that mango? yes there we go so far this city seems to be pretty popular as well with foreigners I've seen a lot of foreigners and the locals seem to be able to speak a little more English so far already we have been to the hotel our hotel could speak a little bit of English and as could this lovely lady back here on the street so I'm curious is it because there's more tourists? I don't know is it because of the position and the location to Hong Kong? maybe it's because of its proximity in the south of China it's always overcast down here usually it's always raining as well depending on the time of year that you actually arrive here because the sun here is intense right now the weather was showing us 32° woo it is hot hot hot so that is why first stop today has got to be a drink from Taz's favorite spot the yogurt cow right we're going to wait for that and then we'll get drinking and get walking and see some more of this crazy exciting City all right hopefully this one's going to be the right one because the last few times I tried the mango and it turned out to be a smoothie juice kind of thing this is the right thing I hope yeah it is it is there's no better way to start your day then with a yogurt cow smoothie so good oh look at this we have a lemon tea yes please Taz is drinking his what is it? mango smoothie yogurt mango yogurt smoothie that one yeah good good so I'm going to get a lemon tea instead actually I think because why not look at this handmade lemon tea is there anyone here? hello? no? no there's no one here there will be somebody about maybe they've just run away into the back somewhere but we came here because I saw this sign here lemon tea and I want something really nice and refreshing and just handmade lemon tea I want this one ice lemon tea but there's no one here it's empty oh no let's wait a minute let's see if somebody comes all right while we wait for the lemon people to come back Libby's just waiting there I saw something else here on display I don't know what this is it seems too tiny to be a duck definitely not a duck what is this? what is all that? it's a bird of some sort Quail or chickens? baby chicks don't know but it's got the head and everything there wow that is intense but then again so does the Roast duck as well so we heard in Guangzhou that you can have roast duck and you can have Roast Goose too are they here? yay ordered? no not yet okay can I have the top one this one one second this one this one yes please I mean that's what ice lemon tea It's ice lemon tea I think it's the original one so we're just going to pay 18 yuan we are here on Beijing Road pedestrian street so it's supposed to be one of the most popular pedestrian streets on a nice big scale it kind of reminds me of nanjing Road in Shanghai a little bit similar also Wangfujing Street in Beijing there you go see I remember here we go yay thank you byebye that is good that is there's big chunks of lemon in there like big circles that is nice very good nice little drink to refresh us to cool us off so we can enjoy and we can walk around and see this city so pedestrian streets here in China are pretty much similar in terms of the fact that they have many restaurants many tea shops just like this many clothing shops shoe shops there's jewelry over to the side I also see something called I think that is a hybrid between new Balance and something yeah I was just going to say that looks like my shoes New Balance right and actually while we are here in Guangzhou hopefully we'll find some shoes at some point because if you didn't know then Guangzhou is a huge industry here everything that you see that's got the made in China tag most likely came from Guangzhou Big Industry for clothing to shoes, toys so the main manufacturing that put China on the global scale all started from Guangzhou the main mass production the manufacturing it became the factory of the world put it that way so everything made in China started getting produced down here you want watches? watch? no thank you there we go it's going to be some what is it some original stuff Gucci Fendi, Prada or what else have you got watches bags anything that you like? I don't think so right now maybe next time thank you so you get approached by people down here because they're showing many things that get produced here locally in Guangzhou there may be people working on commission and they want to come bring people over to their shops and they probably get commissions or something but big Market here big Market all right Bin's everywhere so that's lovely my yogurt drinks done decorative the electricity box right behind the the bin there I like that very nice also see Jordan Jordans that's the reason I started walking this way oh there you go see so we've got some big brands in this area as well I think I've seen Nike, Jordans, Adidas we got some big screens here so this place will be proper lit up at night look at that one that is huge wow what is that? okay let's quickly head that way have a look and then carry on with the rest because it's a busy day ahead busy day ahead again this is a normal week day guys this isn't even a weekend and it's very busy as usual as is the case everywhere on every pedestrian street in China which is amazing it must be really good for the local economy because there's so many local tourists that are out spending which is cool but I Libby mentioned this earlier that there's too many foreigners here as well yeah there's a lot and also the one interesting thing that we've heard from Guangzhou is that a lot of the Traders from Africa come over to Guangzhou and they basically either live here or they are on shorter term visits and they collect all of the clothing the shoes the bags basically everything in wholesale and they take it back to Africa and sell it there so it's a big industry that happens down here and you're going to see a lot of different people from a lot of different areas oh look at this what is this? this is going to be a day of stumbling upon Guangzhou's coolest spots here I'm very excited to be here what even is this? that looks like a mini version of Hongyadong or that 72 tower building that we saw in Zhangjiajie wow this is beautiful what on Earth is on this side then I'm not even joking it's like you look on either side and you've got either a massive structure here which I think is the entrance to a shopping center this one looks like a a temple I think I think so and that Wall is moving oh no way it's like a pinch me moment every time you're here in China like there's something literally going on all around not even joking massive screens massive entrance to a shopping center there's a glass elevator going up as well big Temple here Glass Elevator oh yeah here it's going up yeah and over there is a moving wall also another similarity to South East Asia 7-Elveven I have not really seen 7-eleven here in China not as many that's true yeah we're on what I think is probably the food Street here so we were thinking we're going to try and look for some dim sums somewhere because obviously that is a very popular thing to have here Guangzhou is the birth place of Cantonese food we know we have to try dim sums here but I'm not sure if this is the right place it's obviously very very touristy so we're going to see what there is down here see what's on offer oh mind those bikes there they're actually everywhere some kids here in some uniform that was cute so they're out on a little school trip to Beijing pedestrian Road there must be something over here right I think these places must have something also there's a lot of Thai food here I've seen three or four different thai restaurants already we've got a Vietnamese one behind Taz just here as well that looks like a barbecue right Ramen maybe thats Japanese then okay okay Dim Sum how hard can it be to get dim sum in Guangzhou it is literally the birthplace of cantonese food so we should realistically be able to find it everywhere this is shrimp rice noodle roll rice noodle roll with dried scallop and deep fried dough oat congee stir-fried beef rice noodle and savory pancakes okay okay I'm ready sign me up no problem that sounds good yeah got menu here as well here oh yeah look we're right here just on the entrance there's lots of good bits on there I think look at this we've got a live kitchen over here they're making all their different bits and pieces oh look he's just got the what is this what do you call it the flour or something where you can wrap stuff in that that looks quite good oh I'm curious to see what he's doing there oh look now he's got something in it he's rolling up some green vegetables and stuff rolling it this looks like the rice noodle thing okay so you guys look we are here at flavor of Canton Hua hui rice noodle roll famous for rice noodle rolls so we've just actually managed to place our order with this lovely lady here and then Taz was just sitting at the table but we're going to go in there they're cooking everything all live here look this looks like the congee which I think is like a kind of porridge which also is really really famous and really really popular to have here in Guangzhou so we'll maybe have to give that a try as well but for now we've made our order we've ordered some rice noodle rolls couldn't come here and not order that I think it's called the local name of that is Cheung Fen it's like rice paper I think thank you what is this? we ordered this as well whatever this is this looks like lemon water yeah I think it is they're making everything over here super quick super fast oh that is good I like that nice just like fizzy lime water perfect okay guys so the food has arrived look at this we have the rice noodle roll which we just tried to translate we think the local name is called Cheung Fen I think so and it literally just looks like a big fat roll right and it's covered in soy sauce so you just break it up nothing inside you've got yeah you literally got shrimps on shrimps inside and then they just roll the ingredients inside they just flip it over and turn it and then you obviously get it like this this is your rice noodle roll your Cheung Fen and we also had some stir fried beef noodles I think or fried beef noodles everyone said before we came to Guangzhou when we were in Beijing the second time we arrived in China everyone told us we need to head down south try the food here that's exactly what we're doing that is so good yum that tastes pretty similar to what we would get in the UK we'd call it a chow mein it's basically like noodles with some bean sprouts and then maybe some meat some spring onions that is delicious I don't know if it's called the same thing here in China you guys can let us know Down Below in the comments is there such thing as a chow mein? I don't know but Stir fried beef noodles very delicious that food was absolutely delicious but we're now back out on the street and we're just heading around Guangzhou I'm actually not sure which area we're in but look at all of these bags here wow we've got more clothes as well this kind of feels like we've entered some of the side streets there's a lot more affordable clothing than in the main touristy areas we've got shirts there for 5 yuan but honestly you guys we've seen loads of different restaurants as well Korean restaurants Vietnamese restaurants Guangzhou is a huge Melting Pot for different cultures for different people coming over here oh my goodness look at all of these designer designer designer 200 yuan not bad £20 for a Fendi jacket very nice but we are actually on our way to head towards the metro station because that is where we are going some jewelry shops down here as well very nice I am loving The Vibes here in Guangzhou it is a cool City so far but it feels to be a massive mix between modern and old but here we are we're at the traffic lights right now oh mind the bike you need to have eyes in the back of your head for these electric bikes and the push bikes because they are everywhere yeah they're quite literally everywhere and they're silent look at that green man but the bikes are allowed to go so literally eyes in the back of your head if we don't get run over at one point during this trip here in Guangzhou I'll be surprised look at this we've got some food bits going on here different bits and pieces some herbs there actually a really huge Chinese medicine Market here as well Ching ping I think it's called so if we have some time we'll go and check that out for sure but Chinese people are big on their herbal medicines so if you got any ailments anything like that you go over to them and they apparently help you out okay we are heading now towards the Metro here in Guangzhou so we're going to go down what station is this yes there we go so we're heading in right now let's go down let's go check out the Metro here in Guangzhou it's very very well connected I've seen a picture of the the network like the map connections and I think there's many many I don't know how many but a lot it's a big big city third largest city so needs to be pretty well connected it's got a population of around 15 million so there we go big old city lots of people needs to be good at transporting people around we're going to go grab our tickets hopefully and go through time to get our tickets a quick scan of alipay makes it very very easy oh yep look there they come there we are no card only a coin all right where we going line one this way let's go line one line one through we go tap and walk through lovely very easy doesn't seem so busy in here right now but I bet come rush hour it's crazy these stations are huge as well very very big we've got all four entrances down this way we've got more out there as well you've got exit G H and K you guys public transport in China is very very affordable it is nice and easy and quick to get on public transport which side this one yeah okay so now we're going to head on the train this way oh my goodness it's a busy stop let's go first time on Guangzhou's Metro it is busy oh now that's something that's pretty cool you guys we can go on this side but also you can get on that side as well that's pretty cool I quite like that thats double yeah that's on both sides crazy I like it this is already busy it's not even the rush hour yet it is no I think the doors just opened again maybe someone got stuck but busy maybe this is a popular spot six stops to go let's go to our stop we made it up from the metro station we are now in the Tian District you guys which is it seems to be a lot more modern already we've just stepped out of the metro station behind us and look at this we are surrounded by highrise buildings highrise buildings the Marriott over here as well we have another high-rise just behind us and it definitely is giving me that real mix of old and new CBD area right it is indeed it's the central business district so I guess you can expect lots of big buildings right and we have the Grand View mall over in the distance so is that where we going? I think it is yes all right let's check it out let's go see what it's like let's see what kind of grand view they've got for us I hope they do and guys if you can see the sun is out right now we have palm trees over here on the other side of the road it's giving me LA Vibes I'm liking this place already we're just waiting for the green man now so that we can cross nice and safe but this is the direction we are heading we're going to go and check out a mall here in Guangzhou in the CBD area see what it's like I am curious I'm looking forward to the AC let's go see do they have some big Western brands? do they not? do they have local Brands? what's it like? it's called Grand View Mall so do they have Grand View? that's the real question I love that this is a pedestrian Crossing but look at how many bikes are coming oh my goodness and they're going everywhere like we said you need to have some eyes in the back of your head because otherwise you could get caught by multiple bikes but across we go we've got 8 seconds 7 6 5 4 3 2 one ah run run run we've got a one Link Center down here oh yeah oh my God look at the bike coming towards us oh my palm trees this side yep I was showing these and now look at this we almost got hit then because we were distracted by the palm trees Taz was showing me and then oh my eyes were not facing forward they were not ready for the volume of bikes that were coming towards us wow I am liking this area you guys it feels very modern it feels a bit more up-Market I think we have a big Park in the middle here there's a lot of greenery around and like I said before Guangzhou is the city of flowers so I guess you can expect a lot of green spaces right but but here we are Grand View Mall it's looking busy we got a lot of people heading over towards it we got some decorations outside a golden dragon down there ice cream shop here look at that cute baby woo this is really really big we've come into the Grand View Atrium you guys and there is 1 2 three four five I think seven floors which is insane I can already see some really big name brands we've got Dior Pandora Estee lauder we've got Givenchy behind you yeah North Face, Colombia woo okay it is big in here we have palm trees up on this floor too right this is a tropical vibe I like this wait let's have a look all right I think that is the food court one floor here there's another floor so that's - 2B that's pretty cool oh my goodness this is huge there's a sign up there as well Grand View Museum of natural science that one the museum in a shopping mall what more could you want there you go this place is crazy right are we heading up we are indeed we are going to go check this place out I think they've got an arcade as well because I see something else up there all right you know what let's go check this place this seems pretty cool so far like Guangzhou has a bit of everything going on here you've got shopping you've got food you got busy pedestrian streets you've got big shopping malls so let's see what kind of mixed bag we can expect here I love these palm trees though they look gorgeous they're giving me that tropical vibe these beans or these vending machines are so popular we've seen them everywhere they're in train stations Robo shop yeah pop M there actually was a robot one of these selling in Chengdu yes when we went to the world's largest building it was there it was crazy guys do you love this place pop Mart it's kind of like little figurines I think but I've seen them everywhere I think this seems to be the fun Floor come here look at this right are you ready so we have plus 7 are you ready for this we have a Grand View theater a flying Cinema, video arcade, Grand View rainforest, Museum of astronomy, a penguin snow world and carting so what seventh floor is The best floor then that's the party floor let's go all right we know where we're going what is this all of that in the mall literally this is what you call a mall China just knows how to do it bigger and better that's an African safari now I can see it wow oh these are lifelike as well and very lifesized too wow I don't think I've ever been so excited being in a mall before me neither are we going up again we are indeed okay let's do it is that the rainforest and that's the penguin there I think so and here is the African animals you get greeted by a massive African wild elephant would you say this is taxidermy? this was once a real living elephant now is stuffed and preserved here wow who said you need to go to Africa for a safari? you can just come down to China for an African safari that is so cool that's insane as if they just have these in a mall you've got a rhino, Buffalo behind it you got a giraffe a african elephant you know they look like Taxidermy they look really realistic they've got fur on their ears on the rhinos and the zebras that's what I was thinking that's so strange wow these are very very lifesized zebra, antelopes, it's like they've brought the entire Safari down did you know the only thing that's missing is a lion of course no it's at the back I see it is yes no way oh my days I just said the only thing that's missing is a lion here we are we've got a lion as well this is crazy do you know what I think these are real they kind of look it don't they because if these aren't real then they've done a very good job exactly what is that up there then looks like a massive egg it's a theater I think so okay we go check everything out all right what let's go show you guys what else this mall has let's do this there is karaoke should we yes okay we were just about to go up to the next floor but looked around this side no way yeah there's no one in this one okay so that's for us then ready let's go I Hope they've got some English songs Here and Now make sure I close the door because no one else wants to hear us sing find us something in English let's do something that we can both sing what's this this is all Chinese this is artists I think so let's go through and see if there's any English ones okay let's have a look the lyrics will come up here as they would in the car and we're looking for an artist that we know you needed space what then you come around again and say baby I miss you and I swear I'm going to change trust me remember how that lasted for a day I say I hate you we break up you call me I love you who's singing is this Taylor Swift here in person? You're better than her this time I'm telling you I'm telling you we are never ever ever ever getting back together never ever ever getting back together yeah that was so much fun that was good fun I liked that thank you everybody encore encore oh we're sweating a lot right now so we got to get out because I think the AC is not working oh yeah that was a lot of fun in a steam room yeah I've got the door propped open OMG we're on the seventh floor and I see Grand View penguin snow world as if there's an actual snow World in this mall that's insane there's also a Cinema movie theater behind you Cinema here don't know what that is Grand view rainforest got an arcade that's got to be done we've got an Adventure Land here wow with bumper cars on your left bumper cars we got games here where we go around we got some more games coming up here where are we this is so cool like this mall literally has everything this is insane look at that no guys I can't I can't walk past without having to go so are you ready? we're going for the blue one yeah go let's see no missed it no okay I have to drag myself away otherwise I will spend more money in here this T-Rex is moving help look at this that's so cute I love it amazing what! oh my gosh there's cats in the windows no way little kittens and there's some bigger ones as well is this a cat cafe oh that's so sweet look no slapping this one's so small this one's like a baby they're all asleep we got some skeletons here I think this floor is the the Museum of Natural Science you can rest assured that we will always get excited every time we see food look at that Mongolian cheese pancake what is this I want to try this I am hungry again I am I might be all of these photographers should get a raise they do such an amazing job getting us hungry every time some lamb skewers oh stop it I am liking this walk away short ribs grilled lamb leg oh I can't I can't yummy that's just too much Temptation everywhere we're trying to find our way out the mall now so too many distractions along the way food dinosaurs, Cat cafes, yeah penguins, African safari, oh my Lord is that the real thing? oh my gosh I think that one's plastic it looks way too shiny it's very shiny yeah I was going to say but they might have a duck restaurant here is that goose or is that duck I think that's duck because we're in the land of roast duck and roast Goose yes we are and we absolutely must try Goose before we leave the South you guys recommended us to try Goose but send us your recommendations down below where should we go to eat some roast Goose I want to know what's the best place we definitely have to try Goose before we leave Guangzhou because it is the specialty here in the region in the south of China all right we found the escalators let's go down Yay I see lemon tea right here this one should we grab some cold lemon tea absolutely why not hello all right what have you guys got this looks good what is that black gem but I don't know do you want like something like this or do you want something like this? no I want to try black gem what is this one what is this one? looks very cool what is it mulberry grape lemon tea okay yeah can we get one one yes please thank you alipay okay we have not seen these anywhere they're not anywhere do you know the best thing about China is everywhere you go there's a tea shop all different kinds and variations all sorts of drink shop but here literally just opposite here's another one Uncle Q have we got another one this is literally what I'm talking about in China you don't have to look too hard to find a tea place there's literally tea everywhere they're so good as well I would probably say that China is the tea capital of the world and I would probably not disagree with that I'm pretty excited to try this one out black gem yeah it's mulberry grapes lemon tea he translated to us so it comes in a black cup oh very exciting it's the Ning black gem limited edition thank you they've got these ones as well but we didn't get it these because they're not the limited edition so yeah Taz just saw this and was like I want this one what is it we looked at what it was translated it and we decided okay let's give it a try ready? is that a good or bad? oh yeah impressive we can leave the bag here nice it's got like pulp bits in it super fruity and so cold you got to give it a try I will the Cup itself looks very luxurious haha okay black gem limited edition wow no I'm not just saying it this is very delicious this is so so good wow this might even be my new favorite wow Mixue's got competition now all right time to get to our next stop but check this out this is the first time I've actually seen this there's a bike Crossing as well so it's not just a zebra Crossing for pedestrians it's a bike Crossing too this is so cool never seen it anywhere like this before but this Crossing is huge this is huge another bike the sun is trying to make an appearance as well which is cool because in Guangzhou it's really overcast but so far so good look at this tropical palm trees everywhere you can see a bit of blue in the sky with the clouds drifting over the tall skyscrapers this is such a cool place Guangzhou we're loving you so far the Vibes here too much energy oh can you smell that smells delicious smells like some really good food I just got the biggest wave of a good smell I don't even know yeah but it smells delicious and I know you're thinking how is he still hungry I know I'm hungry all the time I can't help it that's not even a question us and food we go hand in hand it's a perfect match and plus if you're in a place like Guangzhou that's known for it's food then you can't blame us because it's just too good so exactly this skyscraper Central everywhere you see so cool we love it all right not exactly sure where are we going I need to have eyes in the back of my head as well because our friends on these little bikes keep whizzing past us as well so let's go and get to our next stop which is meant to be a metro stop so let's do this let's do this CBD we'll see you another time oh look at that light behind this building looks Heavenly but it's time to carry on and get to our next spot because as we were saying earlier it's a busy day today in Guangzhou in the South becayse there's so much to see in the full schedule let's get to our next stop let's go here we are we made it to Canton Tower we just came out of the metro station oh my goodness there it is in all its Glory this is the highest or the tallest sightseeing Tower here in China in Guangzhou it stands at about 600m is the tallest point wow and right at the top they have little bubble cars that kind of go around the outside in a big circular Loop you can get a ticket to go on them and you can also get tickets to go up to the top as well to the observatory that would be absolutely amazing to go and check out the views from that high up in Guangzhou but I want to check out something else I heard somewhere around the area there's a self-driving bus ooh I want to see that I hope we're in the right spot because this city is too big it is absolutely huge so we're not too sure which way we need to head I see a bus station or bus stop over here but I also see some over here so your guess is as good as mine I think we need to go this way all right let's go that way yeah let's go check it out find out where it is we're going to take you in and see if we can find the spot from where it leaves Canton Tower is where we are right now and for sure we need to come back to somewhere near this area you guys at night because it lights up I think it goes multicolored actually so that will be super super cool so we're going to come back see it at night time for sure it's got to be done when you're in Guangzhou you got to go check that out it's one of the most popular things to do wow it's pretty tall you get neck ache looking up there then when you come back down woo it makes you dizzy let's go and find where this bus stops I just asked the lovely guy back there he said further up to the left perfect okay then let's go and check this place out we were trying to figure out the bus I love this guys sunglasses they look cool this way this way and then right okay and then to the right okay okay underneath I think it definitely goes yeah I think it goes from underneath somewhere but guys we're excited to check this one out this is going to be a first for us we've never done anything like this before little bit nervous little bit worried but it's going to be fine it's going to be good so as we try and find our our way to the Self driving bus we're here underground somewhere by the Canton Tower what did we see? more karaoke booths what is this? Chinese people love Karaoke did you know that? we had no idea. is it here? because I asked the security back there and they said there it is I see it this is exciting this is a first for us and I think probably a first or one of the first for the world as well a self-driving bus here in China we live in the future this is definitely a first because nobody else has done this in a live setting there's countries that are trying it but no one's actually done it in a live setting with live actual traffic let's go get on it there it is is there anyone there no let's see it can see me on the camera look at that hello all right so I need to scan the QR code I think and then it will open up shall I try? okay go for it but you got cameras everywhere you got cameras 360 degrees you got cameras here you got cameras on the other side there as well it's only got six seats I think so usually it has somebody who needs to be there they don't drive it they just sit there on the ready in case if they need to take control so there is always a driver who's not really driving it's just somebody who's just sitting in the place you got cameras here at the front one over there as well so it's got 360 this is pretty cool but I don't see anyone inside so I don't know if this is the right time for it to leave or what's the deal I think it runs every half an hour maybe yeah I think so what happened with the scan did it work it tells me something in Chinese I need to translate it okay look at this wooo all right we're just all waiting outside hello all right two tickets oh scan okay so you scan here okay okay two one here we go oh now we are done we sit here so we have enough seats for six people I think all together driver sits down at the front and then off we go we I'm looking forward to it I've also heard the speeds limited to 40 km an hour here we go look at that ah seat belt okay oh that's cool there we are mine's here there we go plug it in for me love thank you come here too many noodles and rou jia mo so we've got a digital screen up here as well that tells you exactly where you are so I think we will be starting off here that's Canton Tower and that's the entire map at the moment so it's not a big enough area yet because they're obviously still phasing it out gradually you got the camera up there that shows what the bus is seeing so if there's any cars or pedestrians in the way then it will obviously pick it up because I believe this works on Laser Technology which is why you have cameras everywhere I'm super excited for this 5:00 it's time to go baby this feels like alien technology welcome to the Future we've started moving look at that he is not touching anything he's just sat there like he's meditating looks like it he's got his hands up like this yeah I think they have to sit in the ready position just in case if there was any emergencies he'd need to be able to take the wheel quickly but look down there there's no pedals he's not so he's not touching anything he's not using the accelerator or the brake and we're going nice and easy 29 km we doing 29 look at that so this is what the bus is seeing right now so you see that the green arrows this is what the bus is seeing that is how they know to look so when the car went it went red so it can sense it yes wow so that's basically Laser Technology which is why you've got cameras all around so the bus knows exactly where to go welcome to the Future guys how incredibly insane is this traffic light traffic light is it going to brake no it sensed it look and it's going to stop by it look we're on the line that is so amazing welcome to the Future this is blowing our mind this is so cool it can tell on the screen as well when there's Vehicles next to it and it looks like you can see the percentage so it's all automatic as well it's all electric Tesla's they do cars China is doing a bus and it can literally take people on it and it's cheap so affordable I think they have five different routes at the moment but they're quite short Routes because like we said they're in the testing phase so it's still running out as it's not completely driverless obviously because there's someone there to make sure but this is insane this is like nothing we've ever seen before welcome to the Future get ready I want to see if it senses when it goes green of course it will all right that's the traffic light there come on then let's do this would the bus pick it up straight away let's see let's see ready look at that no oh this is madness this is insane look it knows when to change lanes as well this is a bus stop I love it who's getting on anyone getting on? the bus knows exactly where the stops are too wow hello anyone getting on we're going to ride the entire Loop why not because we're here for some self-driving bus rides I love it I actually think the kid behind us is the best I think he got off the previous one and got straight back onto the new one so I think they're rideing the loop as well I think we're doing the exact same thing too because we're going to go around and then come back on ourselves because how often can you actually do this? where else in the world can you do something like this? I love it what would you give this out 10? 20 out of 10 this is amazing this is a real bucket list thing I never thought I would be we're going next to the truck look at that next to a truck and still safe oh there was something there so it slowed down now it knows there's a car in our lane look at that wow it's changing lanes look at that it's changing lanes it dealt with the fact that the bus was moving into us as well on the left side and it knew this bus knew it wanted to move this way but there was another bus coming around us so it dealt with it all it can tell you if it's all green up there then that means it's all good see it goes red it senses a hazard wait for this car and brake yep it braked and also it's going downhill now so to slow itself down like to maintain it speed so we've gone 29 km so far because it can tell there's traffic around oh I am loving this we're going uh through an underpass now it's doing a U-Turn what on Earth is this wow it's done a proper U-Turn that is so cool, at the same time yes I was like that is a bit interesting yeah and it done into Precision it handled it beautiful no questions and it's got lights on now because it can sense it's dark and these lights are so beautiful look at these it's that being in a mercedes oh it's changing color I love this sadly our trips come to an end let's go yeah time to get off thank you driver that was amazing we loved it that was so good oh my gosh can't believe it byebye self driving bus you are crazy who knew there was also a tram here in Guangzhou did you have any idea?
