[Music] hi hola and welcome to another route so andres and i here at one of the routes have decided to do a little tour through our past so that we can catch you guys up and so that you guys can get to know us a little bit better on this platform because we feel that we started doing some videos on our travels and then we had some issues with not really knowing what the heck we were doing and i'm going to speak in spanish because that's my first language but also just because we when we first started doing it we thought that we would just do videos about our travels and show you all the beautiful places that we're very very grateful to be able to go to yet we've realized that um over time you guys are very curious about who we are what we started doing this etc so we're actually going back in time we're going to do about a four to five week series on the years since we've met so andres and i actually met may of 2017 it feels like a really long time yeah um we ironically both of us got back to this country or well i got back to this country and he came to this country for the first time in 2001 yes the year of the twin towers um i came towards the beginning of the year in february and he came towards the end of the year in in november right yes yes okay so here's a funny situation about that because i'm costa rican and he's colombian we tend to have a lot of things in common just culturally speaking i actually used to go to a lot of the colombian festivals and i would go and look for colombian restaurants because it was the closest thing to my food from costa rica so andres and i would keep on going to the same places all throughout those years like these weeks 10 years yeah so we used to go to like the same um concerts visit the same restaurants for food went to a lot of the same festivals and ironically we never met each other um oh we went to the same places for dancing even some of the places that are like less than a couple of miles away from here and we never met each other it took 16 years and uh 16 years and us getting to know each other at el pollo inca which if you're here from california from southern california you would know that boy inca has the problem named towns it's a peruvian restaurant which on saturday nights does some dancing and i hope they're back to doing dancing they have live music and they have live music and it's really um nice because you can it's not like a nightclub right so it's like a restaurant that they just have the live music anyway so we met there we had um our first uh what would we say drinks and appetizers there and we both dress really we both dressed up to nice to impress right and uh i for those of you that don't know i am like the biggest klutz on the face of the planet oh yeah so on the very first night i spilled my drink on him and he being the trooper that he is still to this day which i really love about him he kept on dancing all throughout the night with his pants looking like he had peed on himself yeah so i kind of knew back then that he was a keeper because any other man would probably would have gotten up been really upset and been like you idiot and just walked out and left me hanging there but he ended up staying and sticking through the night i see you guys beautiful ladies that's why so and then after that we've been inseparable so that has been five years since we uh started dating and uh yeah and then after that our second actual date was when i went to see him oh you need to tell the story about the arepas but when i went to see him play not play but coach soccer with some kids oh yeah well yeah so i went to see him play coach soccer with some kids and it was funny because i was there with all the soccer moms and of course they had no clue who i was and some of the soccer moms were like who's your kid and i'm like the big one yeah the nice and tall one the nice dark hand someone anyway um but at the time i mean literally we had been going out i think like three weeks and you know you don't have the type of serious conversations at like three weeks of just going out with someone about what your future plans are for kids or not having kids mine have always been not to have kids i am not a motherly type person as far as kids go in fact anyone that knows me knows that i'm pretty awkward with kids so needless to say when i saw how well he um related to kids and coached these kids and nurturing that he was to these kids i completely freaked out and i was like oh crap this is not gonna go anywhere so i remember that we finished the the game and he came over and we started walking towards the car and he said do you want to have some ice cream i was like sure so we ended up going around the corner to the nearest rite aid and grabbed some ice cream which by the way is the best ice cream in here um i love that one for me but anyway we go and we have some ice cream and i was like i gotta tell them because if i don't tell them now and this keeps on going i just don't want it to be built on a lie so i straight up told him i'm like uh you know i know this is really soon in like what could potentially be a relationship but i have to tell you i don't want to have kids and by the time that undressing i met i was already 37 years old uh he was 39 and so you know i actually thought oh my god his clock is ticking and he's going to want to have kids and he's looking for somebody to have kids with and no no i'm not pretty disputed so i basically was like i don't have kids and his and his answer was no i don't want to eat it so that's how it happened and we were like okay great then this is going to work out right and it's how we start to travel and do so many things yeah and then of course andres had no clue that i had gone to culinary school and that i was uh and that it was a chef so for our third date he invited me over for breakfast at his apartment and uh for any of you that know colombians or have been to colombia you know that the staple at in colombia is arepas which is like this well for pretty much every meal it's like their bread or their tortilla um so it's made out of corn uh white corn or yellow corn and it's very much like grits in the sense of like the flavor and the texture but it's put together like a tortilla and in his state which is medellin um they make them thick and i honestly was never a fan of them every time i would go to a i would go to a columbia restaurant i would always leave it on the plate because i thought that thing doesn't taste like anything so he he comes and he gives me uh eggs and you know coffee and whatever and then he gives me the two edibles one of them which is like this big and the other one was this big and like that thing and i ended up telling him like you know i'm so sorry to tell you this but i actually don't like us uh you know do you have anything else he goes well i have some bagels so he gave me bagels so for our fourth date he actually ended up coming over to my house spent the night and the next morning i made him breakfast and it was the first time i made it a bus and i now gotta regret it because he's never cooked for me since only when i've been really like bedridden sick oh my god she's a chip he's actually done something for me i'm always the cook so um but after that he found out i told him that i was a cook and uh and yeah that was our fourth uh our fourth date and we have continued to have that dynamic where i cook and he washes the dishes [Music] california [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] yes [Music] foreign [Music] so now that we have been bitten by our travel bug we decided that for our next road trip we were gonna invite a friend of ours that has three kids uh they're teenagers now but back then where they were little kids and andres was actually coaching the middle kid so we ended up going up to big bear and rented an airbnb a cute little cabin in bed there and we hiked around walked around had a picnic around along the place and uh undressing actually playing soccer with the kids and even with a kid that wasn't part of those kids he was trying to teach him how to play soccer so you'll be able to see in the video a little bit of that yeah like uh came to us and say hey thank you yeah what's the plan okay yeah so i just started teaching the kid and they ended up having to play a little bit you will also see in the video are that when undressing i actually met i had three she too so i was originally the one with five she just but two had passed by the time i met him and i had three she says chester amber and pocky um later in 2018 actually amber passed away so we were left with just pocky and chester and so progressively as you see our videos you will see that originally we had three sheet zoos and then we had two and then we had three because we ended up adding lexi to the mix and then much much later you will realize that we actually ended up having um two other doggies because packy and chester who were much much bolder ended up passing away as well 17 and 16 yes so just so that you guys can keep the chronology of why you see different dogs in our videos we don't have all of those different dogs but we did at one point or another by the time he met me my old my dogs were much older so unfortunately throughout our relationship we ended up losing the three and now we're back to having three but different dogs okay [Music] [Music] is [Music] okay and to celebrate us moving in together we decided as it has come to be our tradition to take a road trip because that's what we do so we ended up going to fallbrook i did reservations to do a wine tour in this war-ridden carriage and we found this adorable airbnb that to this day i think it's one of the cutest ones we've been to it was actually a camper that the lady had renovated on the inside and it was just really cute she also adopted farm animals so literally the camper was here and right next to it was like horses goats a llama a um i can't remember the name of the other well anyway there was a bunch of animals and we got to feed the animals and hang out with the animals probably that's why we decided to get the trailer yeah so that was probably the beginning of how we ended up in la chata and how we ended up with renovating another camper but i think we're both so infatuated with the idea of being able to put this camper or this home on wheels anywhere we wanted to go to that we were like why are we renting airbnbs we should just be doing this um so after a very tipsy weekend because we also discovered that jess and i are not very good drinkers we ended up taking this wine tour we can drink every wine well we can't neither one of us can drink red wine because we're both allergic to the tannins thing number one to be discovered thing number two is that we are totally whips when it comes to alcohol so by winery number two we were both really tipsy by winery number three i had grabbed snacks and chocolates and everything to try to make us sober and when we got to winery number four we never used the coupons to go on the wine tasting because we we couldn't we just would not have been able to drive back to l.a but the experience of staying in the camper was what changed it all so when we got back to l.a we realized that our next mission was trying to find a camper [Music] at all [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] a okay so as the year came to an end her first i guess three quarters of a year together what else would we have done but to take another road trip because we need to celebrate andres birthday which is december 15th so the fake 4-0 yeah we ended up going to tahachapi i found i found a yurt on airbnb this lady had done an amazing job converting the yurt it had penny countertops it had a bathtub it had a fireplace the bed was up in the loft that had a skylight at the top so you were able to see that just the stars at night time and the sun when it first came in and one of my favorite things was that you walked out of it and all these birds came out of all the trees that was surrounding the property just absolutely gorgeous we went down to the little town that was close by and have one of our meals there and just enjoyed so like disconnect the time from everything so we were there for a couple of days uh really cozying up because it was really cold because it was december and it was up in the mountains no heater just the fireplace but of course you turn on the fireplace and by like two o'clock in the morning you're shivering um and that was it that was the end of 2017 so stay tuned because 2018 will bring way more road trips that you can see [Music] do
