First Time In North Sri Lanka! Is It Different Here?
let's get some first impressions today okay thank you i even think this is the northernmost city of the whole country and it feels a little bit that is right away my first impression a little bit like a different country people speak a different language here they speak tamil and not sinhalese well there's a market here let's have a look so i have to learn a few new words for example instead of stutty so thank you when i come instead of iobo one which is like a greeting hello welcome hello hello do you have cinnamon cookies cinnamon cookies or biscuits or cinnamon cake something with cinnamon no i would like to eat cinnamon what what is this here sesame yeah is it something sweet yeah supposed to eat sweet this one sesame and jaggery pork rind do we have something that is special for jaffna this is jaffna speciality okay how much is this one this 150 50 rupees 150 150 okay i would like to get it i have a multiple sample i have a pickle lime pickle garlic pickle i want something that i can eat right away you know because this i can try by the way wine biscuits wine darkness purple wine wine biscuits only peanut butter i think uh that's the sesame balls then uh no do you eat this almost like a like bite can you do a rock but there's a strong sesame flavor to it i really like it what was the name of this the name very hard to eat like very hard to chew hello i are over 20 different types of bananas in sri lanka and by the way it's just starting to rain here oh hopefully that's going to be a short shower yeah this rain came out of nowhere a few minutes ago we had sunshine here and there's a cow standing in the rain but is this ready to eat already can can eat a little bit 30 rupees okay yeah have you ever seen a banana with this color a red so i waited now for a few minutes now the rain is a little bit less let's see how the red banana tastes i'm actually not sure if you can eat it like this or needs to have some time it definitely tastes different than usual banana and how to describe it i can't really describe it it's sweet it's a sweet very sweet banana so maybe it's more sweet than the usual yellow one but definitely i like it where can i organize an umbrella because uh yeah the weather is not stopping me from exploring the town something else that i want to mention is that the weather here is way hotter than in the rest of sri lanka where i have been to so far i mean now it's not really that hot because it's raining so that cools down the air of course but usually you can really feel it that it's way hotter here than usual but i also think that i think it's okay now i don't need one so we have i think this is like the main road of uh jaffna here or maybe we can try something more here that looks uh very interesting actually maybe let's try one of these colorful things here 50 rupees okay one one piece that's okay i will leave it here no special name looks like like a it's a little bit chewy not sticky not hot i was expecting this to be hard because it looks like like a rock that's very easy to eat very sweet there's a i think a milky flavor to it maybe it's like like a milk cookie type of thing yeah when you are in a new town in a new country make sure you try a few sweets and snacks here and there always there's something new and interesting hello you have something to to eat here yeah what do you want to say want something from just now yeah yeah i want to try it now these are my favorite biscuits very good i like them no no something only under you have something small like a small bag what is this so this is the place where we have been already actually let's cross the road but i also heard that there's a spice section of the market which i would like to see i mean spices are something that i can't really try right away right and i don't want to buy a whole package of a whole package of spices which i can't use then because you know i'm traveling full time not going home next week so i don't have a place to store spices so let's have a look so we have a cow here on the road and i think this is the spice market although this looks like a fish hello this is a dried fish right fish right uh i'm looking for the spice market spice market is it here yes wow okay okay okay thank you thank you ah so this seems to be like the fish of the spice market we have dried fishy and it smells pretty fishy warm fish hello also one of my first impressions is ella are you a big fish here oh wow what fish is this what fish name capta fish oh wow looks like a huge fish okay okay he said come inside hello hello you have lot of fish here dried fish yes from from today today catch yes and i make a video about jaffna today yeah yeah yeah so all the fish here let's see right spikes but from the ocean here you catch here this the fish is coming from thailand the the fish catch in iran and then ship here import yes this is the local fish ah that's interesting that they import fish here as well although before oh okay okay prawns everything seafood here cattle fish ah that's a squid isn't it cuttlefish ah okay okay oh interesting okay okay spice market oh no i don't i don't i'm not a big fan of fish i like chicken chicken i prefer to eat meat instead of fish hello ah this is like your fish warehouse here honey honey honey honey and you put honey around the fish jaffna honey yeah yeah it's not not eating at all yeah okay okay sugar present it's like sugar right you mix with chicken diabetic question i think it's like a more healthy version of sugar and it makes the tea sweet impressions here also is that people seem to be surprised to see me i think people here in the north of sri lanka are not used that much to a foreign tourist i see that people here look at me a little bit different surprised but also very welcoming i mean you thought it passed people here are awesomely well coming towards me and that is something that i really like so great first impressions here so far hello you can drive drive train station railway station how much 250 250 okay hello right so what are my first thoughts my first impressions here now does it feel different i have to say it does feel a little bit like a different country the language here is different the food here is different which we're going to uh check out in the next videos as well and there's overall a little bit different feeling so yes it is different but still people here are as friendly as in the rest of sri lanka at least so far and i really like that so i have really good first impressions here the main road here is busy and yeah i'm heading to the train station now because i want to find out about the train scheduled for the train to colombo because when i will drive back to colombo i will use the
