what's going on my beautiful people welcome  to Vientiane Laos I just arrived here at the airport   actually it didn't just arrive it took me forever  at the immigration the line was so long it took   forever but I'm here now I made it and first thing  I need is a SIM card hello Sai uh SIM card can I   exchange money exchange money I said money you can  send at the bank at the bank okay I come back how   much for uh how many day seven seven days seven  day 7 Day enough 20 GB okay s s s what's that 100   100 100,000 okay I come back thank you thank you  all right so I got to go exchange money at this   bank here so uh just so you guys know if you come  to Laos make sure you get a e visa do not wait on   the line that thing is so long it took me almost  over an hour it's just uh you know should have   expected it but any who it is what it is I'm going  to exchange money and then get a SIM card and then   be on my way $1 is 21,000 Kip approximately 21,000  so I'm already a millionaire guys I made it mama   is this the best yes then MO one number one in  law you heard them number one in Laos one okay uh   do you have anything less than 100,000 100,000 you  have 20 GB 20 GB and what about like anything less   less than that like maybe 50,000 60,000 something  like that 50 yes what do you have I just want to   see uh package price 10 so this one 30 days 20  GB 60,000 it's his packet it's his total 60,000   ah okay okay okay so I'll do the the one you say  for 100,000 total 100,000 mhm 100,000 okay thank   you mobile phone mobile phone and your passport  and my passport okay this my first time in Lao   welcome to La thank you all right guys so SIM  card cost me about 100,000 Kip which is like   little bit less than five bucks and here we are  guys at Wattay International Airport and boy is   it hot so quiet though compared to other capital  cities that I've been to in Southeast Asia there's   a very slow pace here and that's what Laos is  known for it's a slow paced country and you   know what I like that sometimes you got to slow  it down but anywh who grab doesn't work here so   there's an app called Loca LCA and that's that's  what I'm using I was able to set my card up and   I'm just paying by card I don't want to use all  my cash on taxis this taxi from here to my hotel   it's about 4 km it's going to cost me 100 100,000  pretty much so yeah a little bit less than five   bucks uh pretty fair price if you ask me but yeah  guys here we are in Laos it's such a pleasure to be   here my first time and you know there is nothing  like the first time right and um I look forward   to exploring Vientiane and other parts of Laos as well  but as I mentioned the Vientiane itself is the capital   city even this city is so slow and doesn't have  too much going on so you can only imagine the   outskirts of Laos but we're going to explore all  the beauty there is here but yeah guys welcome   to Lao let's go have some fun all righty Here I  Am the Toyota Fortuner this is uh hello sir Sai okay oh very nice nice and AC what's your name my  friend ning ning yes nice to meet you nice to meet   you I'm going to memory Hotel okay all right  it's my first time in your beautiful country   you're a YouTuber yeah I'm a YouTuber I'm making  a video about my first day in Lao oh where where   are you from I'm from America oh but my family is  originally from Pakistan yeah are you from this   city of Vientiane what's special about this city  what should I see in Vientiane Night Market Night   Market meong Night Market meong Night Market okay  it's on the river Mong River all right thank you one thing I noticed is a lot of the signs are  written in French as well and I think that's   because at one time the French did uh colonize Lao  this whole area of Vietnam do you speak French no   oh do many people in Lao speak French or just  little bit a little bit Ah okay okay I guess at   one time people probably did but the laan language  is actually very similar to Thai so if you speak   Thai and you come to Lao you can kind of get  around you'll notice some words are very similar   like for them they say hello like sa and in in  Tai is pretty much the same thing so that's the   that's the cool thing if if you know a little bit  of Tai you can also come to LA and kind of use it cop J my friend thank you so much so  let's go inside and check in thank   you so quiet guys like really quiet for  a capital city I've never uh experienced   anything like this so should be uh  interesting welcome to take a memory Hotel anybody at the desk oh let see anybody  here all right guys that was pretty easy the guy   literally just handed me the key he's like what's  your name like my he's like all right take the key   anyways no no elevator got to walk up the stairs  here guys old school the way I like it you know   keep it Gully stay humble where are we here 301 on  right on the street beautiful but you know what it   doesn't matter here in loud because it's so quiet  I'm just going to show you guys what 20 to $25 a   night gets you in venen and then we'll make our  way here we are not the nicest not the cleanest   not the most beautiful but you know what we got  a bed we got a place to rest our head at night   and what else can you ask for they give you some  water oh it's a Thai company and I'm TP I guess   a lot of stuff here is influenced by Thai since  we're so close to Thailand guys literally uh Lao   is the only landlock country in Southeast Asia  so it's in the middle of Vietnam Thailand Myanmar   which all have bodies of water around them but  La is just crammed in between them that's why   this country you know struggles the most in  Southeast Asia because of its uh geography   almost just like a prisoner of his geography  really but it might not be rich in economically   but I'm sure it's rich in culture and we're  going to go find out as I step outside got   a nice little view from uh my balcony here on my  hotel you can see the architecture is very French   Colonial mixed with obviously Asian Southeast  Asian and the blend of the two just make it so   nice but let's go downstairs and start exploring  guys it's so nice being in a country for the first   time when I tell you there's no experience  like it I really mean that here's some cafes   the white elephant Common Grounds a socially  conscious Cafe interesting anyways let's keep   going maybe we'll find something else can see the  architecture here honestly walking at first glance   this beautiful Temple here at first glance  this literally is like a mixture of Vietnam and Thailand look at this huge Market isn't  open yet but it will open probably later   on probably after 5 6 p.m. once the  Sun starts to go down people don't   really come out here until the sun  comes down because nobody's as crazy   as me to be walking around here but yeah we'll  check this out later maybe in maybe in a separate   video we'll see but I am actually a short walk  away from the only and the most important body   of water here in Lao known as the mikong river  some of you have probably heard of it it runs   through a lot of these countries in this area  you can see that right there is the Mong River   and there's a little Boardwalk that kind of  runs along it there's a little uh a little   amusement park here as well oo that Sun hits oh  man but yeah that right there guys is the Mong River it's my man sell in here guy just oh he's just packaging it little  amusement park here guys if you want to   come entertain yourselves this River the  Mong river is very important here in Lao   because it's the only body of water  that can allow boats to come in and   out and allow trade so since the beginning of  time since Lao has been Lao uh they basically   get all of their trait through the Mong  so it's a very important body of water nice little Boardwalk to walk here as well the river is a bit further out though than  I thought nice to meet you are you guys from   venan you from Lao laan yes ah very nice Vian  very nice what's your name uh what you p p yeah   you want to say something I'm making a video for  YouTube you can say you can say something about vnn thank you thank you than thank you  so people here are a bit shy and uh you   won't find I mean obviously people  will speak English but not not the   way you would probably expect it to be  nice to meet you nice nice to meet you saiii see I'm I'm practicing my uh  my Lain do you speak English little bit uh do you speak English no oh you're going to try okay it's okay maybe lie  maybe lie thank you thank you I'm just trying to   see if I could find someone that speaks a little  bit of English to ask them where I'm going but I   just to have conversation cuz I like to do that  hello my bro sa uh I go p p p p you know uh p p one second I show you I'm trying to figure out  where is Pat but I don't think I'm saying it right this Pai Pai sorry Pai not P yeah one way two way uh one  way okay okay uh to to huh uh 150,000 K 150,000 yeah oh too much too much 130  okay 100 oh 100 okay 100 for me 120 100 okay okay   c c c all right guys uh uh pun o o okay my friend  o is going to take me to the next destination Cai   Cai let's go this Tuk yeah tukk tukk oh this  is a this is a la la tukk Tuk La Tuk La yeah   okay let's go oh very good nice glasses cool all  right guys so we're going to get on our way now I would walk but it's just too  hot like sometimes you have to   just pay the money man I'm going to  roast out here in the sun if I walk all right guys we have arrived to the pat Victory  Monument as you can see it is absolutely beautiful   it actually resembles the French Arctic Triumph  if you've ever seen it so the story basically   goes since 1893 the this whole area of La Vietnam  Cambodia fell into the hands of the French it was   known as uh French Indochina it became a French  protectorate basically they colonized this area   and used them for their resources as the French  have done in many places around the world and this   was actually erected in the 1950s to basically  symbolize their Victory and freedom of fighting   off Colonial powers specifically the French Powers  though Lao is not the most economically powerful   country in Southeast Asia it has a rich history  you know I mean in the early 7 to 13th centuries   some of the strongest kingdoms and some of the  strongest monarchies reigned from this area from   Lao obviously over time other countries around  it gain more prominence due to whatever it could   be trade um economy and things like that but in  the early early days early Empires this place   was very very how can I say important thriving  look at this they got a nice little Fountain here and this is a little tourist  destination that you guys can   come if you're here and it's actually  really beautiful to walk around you can see and now as I walk around here it really seems  that the Chinese people have taken over La I mean   you see everything written in Chinese  you see a lot of Chinese tourists a   lot of people Chinese are actually  allowed to come here pretty much   Visa free you can see people  are enjoying their time here hello I need some water man it is so hot SA huh 10, 10,000 10 10,000 for a water that's like a half a dollar my name Meer Mayer may may may uh thank you 10,000k see guys you can use  your tie here if you speak some tie there's a really beautiful building  right next to the uh PS Monument right   here I think this is the prime minister's  office or President Office you can see   not only does it have the laian flag  but it has the Communist flag as well   and with this music in the background I feel  like I'm in I don't know I've traveled back to   like 1960s or something it really has that old  vibe that you don't get in a lot of Southeast   Asian countries anymore like Thailand you won't  feel it like like how quiet it is how empty it   is with this music almost like North Korea in a  way it's so empty it's very interesting though   I like it there's also a park as well known  as P Pai park I think I'm saying that right   if there's any La out there you can correct me if  I'm wrong says China Aid so I think China helped   build this part CH China CH China helped are you  Chinese Chinese from China Chinese from China where I'm from I'm from Pakistan oh  pakist Pakistani yeah yeah brother brother mention from Shanghai from Shanghai oh very nice  okay enjoy enjoy byebye byebye yeah so I think   this uh Park was actually that was my Chinese guys  you see I'm a multiculture dude man I can speak   a lot of languages you guys don't know man if you  don't know now you know but um yeah this park was   kind of aided there's a lot of Aid that comes to  LA from China so a lot of investment that comes   from China so there's a big Chinese influence  here which is what I was trying to say before   sometimes countries are just like prisoners of  geography you know and obviously Thailand and   Vietnam they have beaches so their tourism is  higher because people want beaches people want   water people want oceans and they just don't have  that here so even though there is tourism here you   don't see the kind of Tourism that you see in  the countries that I mentioned just because of   the sheer fact that they don't have beaches so  sometimes countries struggle economically not   because it's their fault but also just because  of where they are you know on the map and another   thing that people don't know about Lao is that  this country was actually uh because of it's   so close to Vietnam there was pretty much like a  secret war that happened here in the 60s and 70s   when America was fighting the Vietnam War Lao  was actually one of the most bombed countries   in the world by the Americans as well I'm sorry  guys I know I'm American and I feel so bad about   what my country does around the world but um  yeah it's terrible what happened to to this   country I mean they were they struggled under  colonialism for a long time and then they had   to deal with the bombing in a war that really  they didn't take part in they were just H once   again just proximity geography you know it  just it stinks that they had to go through   that and I'd love to see this country come up  and Thrive like all of the countries around it another thing I noticed is like people don't  drive very aggressively here obviously there's   no traffic so I think people have less  anger on the road than I've seen like   in Jakarta or um Bangkok for that matter  but people drive very chill here they stop   for pedestrians they don't beep the horns you  don't see people driving too fast it's just so   chill if I can describe vien in one word  it would be chill Sai sa okay can I help   let me help I help you let me help you work  okay we're working let's go I'm a worker now uh oh okay all right so they're putting the sticks  in the back of the truck I'm going to help I help   I help okay got to work got to work guys hard  work hard work than you than you no problem cop byebye I just saw some guys working  I'm like you know what let me help them   let me help them work people are people are  so chill here it's so nice you see these   street signs like it's written obviously in their  language I think that's laan and then obviously   in English fonetic and then also you can see  Ruel that's French a lot of French influence   around this city look at the architecture too  very apparent nice hotel here supatra Hotel I finally found a cafe that I think is open  bar to Bros naked espresso ooh naked espresso   sounds interesting it's down there oh look at this  some random Alleyway I like getting lost in these   little nooks and crannies of the city this is Cafe  Amazon this is a chain that's all over Thailand   and here in Lao but we're going to support the  local businesses as I usually do here we are   at naked espresso right hopefully they're open oh today you're closed oh no you closed  at five oh no there's no chance I can get ice coffee what you want uh lat ice okay wait a minute okay thank you so much  so they're closed but they're still making me   a coffee that's the kindness of the people  here naked espresso right yeah is this your   Cafe oh no no my big boss Cafe she's the big  boss I'm kidding I'm kidding she she's she's   being humble I'm making a video about vienen  so I wanted to show one local cafe and I saw   when I was walking I saw this place so your for  this my first day in V yeah welcome thank you   so much it's been really nice so far the the  people are really nice L loud people are very   kind thank you thank you so much uh you can you  can give me takeaway please yeah H how much to   toai H H 60 60 okay I speak Tai a little bit but  I think Lao and Tai very similar right yeah okay   oh 20 okay here we go I'm still learning the money and look at this cute  little cafe too on here you can see I'm just going to take a coffee to go  guys I need some energy so I can keep this   video going keep the energy alive let me try  this coffee you like amazing very good I'm so   glad I came here here's my garbage thank you so  much thank you so guys when you come to uh ven   you can come to naked espresso this only one  right this one no no we have all oh you have   many okay come support them they're very nice  people thank you byebye as I'm walking around   this city another thing I noticed is you don't  really see tall buildings like about the tallest   you'll see some of these buildings are about the  tallest buildings that I've seen and honestly   L that kind of really gives the city a Cool vibe  because most Capital Cities you go to nowadays   they're full of skyscrapers and tall buildings  that overshadow all of the original architecture   it kind of takes away from the traditional Vibe  of the city you know another interesting thing   you'll see as I'm walking around is you won't  see any like McDonald's Burger Kings here cuz   there is none here in Lao which is pretty cool  you can support local businesses that's better   the land of no McDonald's so for those of you who  don't like trying Local Foods and you travel the   places to eat McDonald's this is not your kind  of place but anywh who anybody who does that I   don't understand it I'm walking and right here  I'm in the middle of the city you have all these   government buildings around here beautiful temples  but right there in front of me is a very important   symbol here in Lao known as the patang I I think  I'm saying that correctly correct me if I'm wrong   but it's actually one of the most important  if not the most important religious symbol   here in Lao it's rumored to have been here since  the 3rd Century ad as I mentioned from the 3rd   to the 7th Century ad uh La was home to some of  the earliest civilizations in this region in 19   in the 1930s when the French came and so on this  area was bombed as I mentioned before Lao is one   of the most bombed if not the most bombed nations  in the world because of the hoochi mint Trail it   was when the Americans were invading here they  literally bombed the hell out of this country   just to avoid Vietnam being able to get supplies  through the hoi minil and Lou just had was kind of   the man in the middle that had to suffer quite  sad history if you think about it but what a   beautiful structure this is just here smack dab  in the middle of the city so gold and around now   5:00 p.m. is when the sun just shines on it from  here and it is absolutely magnificent sight to see uhha OHA okay I'm going to get one  I think it's sweet potato man like   this like this ah okay so you just eat it like this oh St St M so as you guys can see it's like a sweet  potato very nice nice little snack along   the road I didn't even notice around here right  by the monument that I or the stoa that I just   showed you there is this little Night Market  here as well never a shortage of night markets   in Southeast Asia looks just like the ones in  Thailand as well people just selling sweets   Foods all kinds of uh goodies and treats ooh look  at those French baguette looks amazing like bu me because of the French influence you'll see  a lot of good bakeries and bread here in Lao   What a Beautiful Day first impression here in Lao  vienen absolutely amazing guys I love this place   I would highly recommend it if you guys want  to have a chill Capital City there's nothing   more chill than this place I mean although  it's a country of 7 million people as you   walk around this city it feels like no one  else is here it's just like your own little   playground and uh something really cool about  that man you get all the things that you would   want from Southeast Asia all the Vibes without  the rush in a capital city but with that being   said guys it's been a nice beautiful long travel  here beautiful day here in vnen and I'm going   to sign out on this one guys if you haven't  subscribed make sure you subscribe make sure   you like make sure you comment and make sure you  share it guys really does help the channel out   more loud videos coming so stay tuned remember  continue to learn continue to grow and there is   no growth until you leave your comfort zone stay  tuned I'll see you guys on the next one peace out
