today i'm taking the train from munich to zurich on the swiss high-speed train in first class. the train departs at 6:54am from track 27 and there are many people on board i like the train, but the train route from munich to zurich is partly single-track, the train cannot travel at high speeds the ticket for a one-way trip in first class costs about 100euros. if you book several days in advance you can buy the ticket at a lower price. 6.50euros are added for a seat reservation.
this is the dining car. the dining car separates first and second class, i.e. it is in between i'm looking for my seat but the first class is more crowded than the second class. the seating arrangement is 2 rows of chairs and one row of chairs, you have a little more space, but not necessarily more peace and quiet I haven't had any breakfast today, so I'm going to go to the restaurant first the food truck looks tidy and is not overcrowded. let's take a look at what's on offer
it is a sufficient card, but the prices are on a swiss level, very high I think the train ride actually only takes 3 hours and 30 minutes, so you can survive the time without eating...LOL I opted for a small sandwich and a coffee and water. You can buy a sandwich like this at a discount store for 1.49 euro the journey is slowing down, the train often just stops, we have already arrived 15 minutes later the weather is changing today, i hope to find a nice view tower. the fog is slowly getting less the scenery during the train journey is not very spectacular and doesn't get any better. i couldn't resist it...i had to take it. it tastes fantastic, but why so small....
soon i won't be able to see anything at all, whether that was a good idea today? i don't know yet the austrian Railjet and Nightjet have a very cheap restaurant on the train. it's better to take your own food with you now we reach Lindau on Lake constance. it is the border area of switzerland and germany and austria, 3 country corner. Lake Constance is Germany's largest inland waterway it is a very slow connection between munich and zurich Switzerland, Austria and Germany share access to the lake, you can also take a ferry to cross the border i have chosen the uetliberg in switzerland, the viewpoint is easy to reach from the main station i then use the uetli train. but you can also walk to the uetliberg. you drive along the lake for a very long time. we are not traveling fast
today is january, 21 , 2025. it's cold, around freezing point, so the lake doesn't look very busy. the toilets are not big, rather small. they work but are not inviting. we are in switzerland now. the train seems clean, it is quiet inside, the seats are comfortable, but nothing more the fog gets less later, it's bright on the train, the lighting is sometimes too much this is the slowest fast train i know..haha
Ankunft St. Gallen in der schweiz we are 35 minutes late so far, hmm the train to uetliberg departs every 30 minutes from swiss main station i think that i have a good view on the mountain the route leads past many residential buildings, old buildings and factories, perhaps hence the slow ride there are 2 chargers at each seat, for mobile phone and laptop arrival winterthur Zurich Airport next stop Zurich main station the seats do not have a full-length bench seat, the ÖRR Railjet has a full-length bench seat Arrival at Zurich main station, finally. now I have to look for a way to get to the uetliberg okay, there are many connections here a beautiful old building, impressive. but the stores are in the basement, a huge basement before i go to the train i take a look at the station from the outside it's not far now to the basement this is the train to the uetliberg. the ticket costs about 10 euros, but you can also walk to the top, it takes about 2 hours
almost done the climb is steep, it's uphill, my air is tight..hahaha a few more steps to the top
