Show Video

Our food is arriving. It's sizzling. Ribs Wow ... It's like falling in love.

What's inside it? We've got chicken and prawns. Most expensive dessert ever! You gotta try it, man. Assalam Alekum and Good Morning Everyone from Tehran. After getting so many requests from you all, we are gonna make Tehran Food Vlog today.

This vlog will be in a mix of English and Urdu languages. I have with me ... one of the biggest Instagram celebrities of Tehran. Not just Tehran ... but Iran .. and he's Mr. Hamid. He's famous as Mr. Taster.

I've been following you for the last one and a half ye Wow. My pleasure. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you and explore Iranian food with you. You are in Tehran, my friend ... Assalam Alekum ... May peace be upon you. We are gonna try dizi; a really famous Iranian dish.

So, are you ready? Yeah and which dish after that? We are gonna go for sandwiches; we are gonna for kebab. Everything. Lots of food in Tehran. Are you ready, guys? Let's go. Please tell us a little bit about the restaurant we are sitting in. It's a very old house, converted to a restaurant; Dizi house. They have adorned it beautifully with all these Persian paintings.

Looks beautiful. It's amazing to look at this traditional Persian setting inside. What's the name of this restaurant? Dizi. The name of the dish is Dizi and the restaurant is Dizi House. Do they only serve Dizi here? Yeah. So they serve the soup with mashed beans, beans and chickpeas.

It's very famous here in Iran. They are serving so much food that I'm afraid we won't be able to eat anything else. Let's see if it's only for tasting. When you are with an Iranian celebrity, you are sure to get an even special treatment. I'm getting special treatment here.

This is the pickle ... it's onion. This is sort of a mixture with too many ingredients in there. Normally it takes two years to make this pickle.

We've got vegetables here and then sour orange. And we are ready for Dizi ... It's coming. We start with the soup, then we take this bread and tore into small pieces. I didn't have breakfast. I'm so hungry. Have you tried sheep's head before? No? You gotta try that as well.

We have this chunk of fat here and we will mash it. Ready? It's the fat? Yes, this is the fat. So you just take the fat and mash it like this? They normally mash it with other stuff and in the meat juice. Now, I'm gonna give you a try. It's so delicious. It's really really good. Before today, I never got to try real fat like this.

I normally avoid fats. But this is really really delicious. We have the soup and the fat.

And the sangak bread which is really famous in Iran. You call it sangak. It's made on a stone, right? Yes. It's amazing.

Try another one ... with some of this. Ready? Yes. First have a bite and then try this. Love it. The best dizy I've ever had.

We have got potatoes here ... beans, lamb, some fat, tomatoes and chickpeas. And you can see he is going to mash it all together. Ready, guys? Take a piece of bread and put some mashed stuff on it. This is called Gosht Koobideh.

Gosht means meat in Persian, the same way it does in Urdu. But since it is mashed, it's called Gosht Koobideh. Hamid has told me about this item; it has curry powder and dried lemon.

To enhance the taste ... or if you are a curry lover, you can just use this. My first bite ... I'm gonna try it just with the meat. Looks like a rather big bite. Need to break it down further. Putting all of this in the mouth, at once, seems kinda rude.

Hamid has told me that this food is traditionally eaten on Fridays. The whole family savors it after the Friday prayers. This meal is quite heavy so the family rests after eating. However, we are trying it on a Thursday. What's this? This is yogurt, with mint and salt.

Lassi here is quite different because of the unique taste of mint that is used as an ingredient. I belong to a rural area and we are, sort of, raised on lassi. I mean lassi is what we had each day in the morning. I've always been a fan of its taste. See how busy the kitchen is.

They are preparing dizi here. We got special permission to get inside the kitchen and share it with you. It's made in clay pottery. They just put tomatoes, fat, potatoes etc in the pot. It takes almost 7 hours to get ready. This clay pottery reminds me of ancient times. That's a stove and you can see how dizi is being cooked in these small pots.

It's left alone for 7 hours to be cooked on a milder flame. And it tastes awesome. On the other side of the kitchen, roti bread is being prepared. Lets me show you how it's cooked. So, we are at our second location. Hamid tell us about it.

We are at Sheep's Head which is really famous in Iran. We normally have it for breakfast. But it's 3pm and it's open. So, what do they serve? They will first give you the meat juice, like dizi. And then you can have the brain, the eye, the tongue ...

You can have everything. Even the legs. What's the name of this restaurant? It's called Rock ... which is one of the best in Iran. I can read it .. its says Tabakhi Rock.

Tabakhi means Kalle-pache. Let's go. I feel like my smell sensation has gone extra sharp here.

The place is filled with rather exciting aroma of meat. They are preparing it, right in front of us. I'll get some shots for you. I can see a sheep's head in front of me. Apparently, they cook it until the flesh starts coming off just with a gentle touch.

That's the full head. We can have cheeks, eyes, brain, tongue ... everything. This is the juice and it can have brains in it.

They serve you the meat juice and then you can have brains on top. This is the stomach. It's really nice. It's the stomach of sheep (Ojrri). I'm not a big fan of these things. I'm a bit nervous just by looking at it.

You can have it with juice. I think we have the whole head here. What's inside? We've got cheeks and tongue ... We've got tongue, legs, two eyes and that's it. And we have some cinnamon on top.

Yeah, cinnamon, some oil and some juice. Which one is your favorite part? I love them all. But I'll go for the eye as it's the best part.

But my mom loves tongue. Let's start then. I never had it before in my life. Really ... Then it's gonna be fun.

Let's get the eye. Best part ever. This is for you ... This is the eye .... Look at that ... Adding some salt ...

As you are a Pakistani so I'll add some pepper. Making it a little sour ... For you ... It's really good.

It's very soft ... just melts in the mouth. For you ... Lets taste some leg. Let's have this one with lemon juice.

For me? Yes, it's for you. Seems like it has been cooked for a really long time. Yeah, they start at night and cook it till morning. At some places, they start serving it at 5 am.

In some places like Mashhad, it's finished by 9 am. In Tehran, they serve it at night as well. It's really heavy food ... so you can't have it at night. So it's best suited for breakfast and the best one can be found in Mashhad.

Yes, you can get the best kalle-pache in Mashhad. What's the name of that restaurant? Tolo .. Tabakhi Tolo. You have to be there between 5 to 8 in the morning. Yeah, they finish really quickly.

In Tehran, the Rock is among the best ones. You liked it? Yes. This is the first time I tried it. And I thought it would be weird. You know ... like it's out of your comfort zone. Yeah, it's like it's in your memory that you don't like it but when you try ...

But since it has been cooked for so long that the meat melts in your mouth. Thank you so much. Are you ready for the third one? Right now we are in the car of Mr Taster. We are going to .... I'm not sure ... but I think it will be Saa'at.

They have got a really good variety of kebabs. Which place in Iran is really famous for its kebabs? Mashhad is famous for Shish kebab. The best ones you can find in Shandiz.

And for kebab barg ... the best place is Tabrez O ... we need to go for bull kebab now ... it just came to my mind. So let's go check the kebab first ... they may be we can go to try some sandwiches.

We could go to all those places. The best koobideh is from Bonat. I went with Mark Wiens to Borak to make video. Where's that? It's near Tabriz; 40 minutes from here. Guys, we are here in this street to try kebabs with my friend ..

You know him? We are gonna try these special kebabas in Ardabil which is close to Tabriz. You are gonna love it. You are gonna have Chenjeh kebab which is lamb. It's from Moghan. It's actually a Turkish city. They speak Kurdish. My dad does speak Kurdish but I don't know a word of it.

He told me that this used to be a small shop then they went bankrupt. They made a report on it and now they have some 30 employees. 33 people. This used to be a small shop but now it's a big one. This huge restaurant used to be a small shop. That's the power of social media that transformed a small bankrupt shop into such a big restaurant.

They really respect Hamid because he was the one who helped them expand their business. They treat him with love and respect. So lets get in and hope to get our hands on some really delicious kebabs. You know Turkish kebabs are really famous and this Ardabil city is close to the Turkish border. The food that we are about to taste is originally from that area.

It's for you. Just see this chunk of butter on the kebab. It's the first time I'm gonna try something like this. I have a feeling that it's gonna be very delicious. Have I tried these kebabs before? Hardly once .. But they were nothing like these ones.

I tried them in Shiraz. The lamb comes from Moghan which is near Ardabil, close to Tabriz. You can say that it's the meat city.

It's a beautiful village with lots of sheep. And they get it especially all the way from Moghan. I tried them for the first time in Ardabil. This is also among my most favorite places.

You have koobideh in it which is the minced meat. The second type of kebab is chenjeh ... and they are all made from lamb. They mix it with butter and also use some sesame. It looks so tasty just by the looks of it. Let me tell you something interesting .. I was told never to trust a thin chef. Because they haven't tried their own food.

Now just look at this chef. Clearly he eats a lot while he is tasting the food. That's why he looks like this. If the food is tasty, the chef must be fat. That's why I'm not a food vlogger. I just try to tell you about good foods. I hope you guys must be enjoying this vlog so far. And if you do, take a short break from this video and go ahead to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and SHARE this video.

Also don't forget to FOLLOW me on Instagram. You'll find my Instagram handle in the description. The kebabs are sizzling and I can't keep them waiting. Let's go ahead and try them. Amazing Sometimes you get served overcooked kebabs; sometimes you get slightly raw and chewy ones.

But these ones are perfectly balanced. Cooked to just the right degree. Delicious. We are in Darband now which is hill station. Not just that but people visit this region for skiing as well. That's why they have a chair lift here. And there is a beautiful looking bazaar here.

Our ride to this point has been really great. Our route was so beautiful. I hope you must have loved those shots. I'm not sure what Hamid has in mind for us now but I can see street food. Lets see what we get to eat here and share with you all.

Nevertheless, this whole area is awesome and I hope to have a splendid evening here. Let me share that with you as well. So, we were taking a stroll and now we are right at the end of this street. We are in Darband and one of the best restaurants here is Koohpayeh.

We have already been here with Mark Wiens. And we celebrated my blue tick on Instagram here. Lucky place, then? It is a lucky place and I love it. Love the place ... Love the owner ... Mr Koohpayeh. And I like the atmosphere too.

It's a beautiful place with so many colors in the bazaar. Lots of people with sheesha. You can smoke sheesha here or you can taste food. Here you can have everything. You can go see those mountains as well.

It's beautiful. You can come to Iran and visit this place. But for food, you must come to Koohpayeh. The owner Mr Koohpayeh is here for us. Nice to meet you.

We have been here since 1923. I am the 4th generation of Koohpayeh. That's almost 98 years. Yeah. Almost a 100 years. Please have a seat. We have been served special black tea.

The teabag contains really fresh tea from an Iranian region near the Caspian Sea. It also has cinnamon and that's making it smell really good. There's a saffron in it as well and I think there's a small rose petal in there too.

Rose it is .. right? And there's some baklava as well. The owner told us that it's a diet, sugar free, baklava made by his sister. That's the first time I'm trying a sugar free baklava.

Normally baklava is super sweet ... lets try this one. That's how it looks ... It's so great ... It is as sweet as a baklava should be.

Since it's freshly made at home, it's really good in taste. I can't stop myself now. Hamid, have you tried the baklava? I tried it ... It's amazing. Loved it. It's one of the best baklava I have ever tried. Please forward our appreciation for this baklava and gratitude to your sister. Thank you so much.

These are pickled olives, pomegranates and walnuts. I haven't tried the walnut pickle before. Let's see how it tastes. Check out this cute presentation. We have been served with two of the special dishes here. It's similar to how we roast an eggplant and then mash it and mix with yogurt.

It's quite close to that one .. but this has mint on top of it. What is this white thing called? It is curd. We call it kashk in Farsi.

We call it Kashke Bademjan. Kashk means curd and Bademjan is eggplant. Both are eggplants. This one is with tomatoes and garlic. And the egg is on the top.

And that one is with curd and some mint. Let's give it a try. I'm gonna start with this one. Have a look. For you .. This is really good. After having meat all day, this is our first vegetarian dish of the day.

I really like it. Look at this, guys. How do we eat this? You can have it with your food or before the main course. This is really awesome, guys ...

One could just much on it while watching some TV show. It can be tried irrespective of whether you eat it with your main course or after it. It's very tasty .. And it's not some pickle. Please excuse me for calling it a pickle. I said it because they serve pickle with every meal. But this is something extraordinary. If I'm eating something more than once .. you can tell that it must be awesome.

Our food has arrived and it's sizzling. Ribs. Ma Sha Allah ...

It's like falling in love. So much food. He's removing the bone from the meat. Now removing the other one. The way the bones were smoothly removed is an indication of its great taste. Just look how beautiful the presentation is.

This steam is just for decoration. We have Shish kebab and joojeh kebab. And we have got these really famous kebabs. Over here we have this tiny chicken. It's normally served with cumin.

We have got ribs here. This is prawns curry. These are some koobideh and shish kebabs.

There's so much food in front of me that I am not able to decide. While Hamid was busy in making video, we have ordered some freshly cooked rice. There are so many dishes but this prawns curry is a different dish so we are gonna try it for sure. I'm loving these amazing looking ribs. However, since I have already eaten kebabs so I may not try them for now.

There's a couple of things that I do wanna try. Mix your butter with your rice. We are gonna mix our butter with the rice, guys.

Are you ready? Yes. Now you need to go for the kebabs. Here, have one shish kebab. One advantage of being with you is that I don't have to choose anymore. Because you will pick the best items for me. Take one chicken kebab.

Here's some koobideh. Also try this one. And that's it. Bon Appetite. How do you say that in Persian? Noosh e Jaan.

Now what you can do with the tomato is ... Take one .. Then mash and spread it like this. Now take your kebab like this ... Take some of that kebab ... And mix it ... with some rice ...

Ready? Let's show it in the camera as well. Let's go for this one. Delicious Love it. Do you like it? I already told my viewers that I like the food when I'm having more than one bite.

Amazing Some of the best meats that I have ever tried in my life. You can see the chicken now and I'm told that it's not older than a month. It's a baby chicken with amazing taste.

They are cutting this leg piece for us. We are gonna eat it with this pomegranate sauce. Even the rice has pomegranate. Check it out guys I have never had a chicken like this before.

Our dessert has been served and it's something unique as I'm seeing it for the first time. It looks somewhat similar to a famous Pakistani sweet. And it appears to have some ice cream in it as well. Let's ask Hamid to try it first and then tell us.

So Hamid ... Can you please try it and tell us about it? It's actually cotton candy on top and saffron ice cream in between. Saffron ice cream ?? Wow .. Yeah ... with cotton candy.

And then there's saffron there ... Look at that ... You know saffron is more expensive than gold. So we are going to have the best dessert. Most expensive dessert ever.

Amazing What a finish .. !! You should try. Give me the camera. Sure. I'm feeling jealous. It disappears as soon as you put it in your mouth. This is something amazing.

I never had such type of dessert before. Mr Koohpayeh, I hope it must be in your menu as well? Not yet but it's going to be there soon. This is special for Mr. Taster and his special guest. Thank you very much. You are welcome. This is going to be on the menu.

I can tell my viewers that they must try this if they want to try the best Iranian dessert. I think I'll start serving this from tomorrow. Tomorrow it is .. This is something that can make you forget all your sorrows and worries. Time to end this vlog. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Thank you so much. We haven't introduced your wife yet. Hamid took us to all the best places so that we can have the best food.

We tried all the local food and then some. You know that one day is not enough. But I tried my best, to be honest. Thank you so much. No. Thank you.

Guys, it would be great if you go and check Hamid's Instagram. He is already a celebrity though. Everyone knows him. I think we had to stop like a 100 times along the way by his fans. Thank you I'll share the link to Hamid's Instagram in the description and also in the first comment.

Thank you so much. Good to have you. I invite Pakistani people to come to Iran and we'll try and be good hosts for you. You should also come to Pakistan. Definitely. I'm coming to Pakistan. I'm coming to Pakistan this year.

Thank you. We love Pakistan.
