Exploring Wat Phra Yai Big Buddha Temple in PATTAYA THAILAND with GEMINI
hey guys welcome back to another episode of in my dreams this is a place where I'm living mine and I'm going to teach you how to live yours too because that's what life is about and today um we are in pram knck Hill which is in the area in my neighborhood and we are right now we're at the big Buddha temple so this is going to be an action-packed episode with a lot of information and um today's going to be beautiful I'm kind of speechless already being here cuz what I'm seeing here is amazing so far so that's the big Temple right up top of here um of course we're in another area where you can do a lot of shopping as well oh yes and today I'm actually using my wide lens um so I'm excited about that and then um I'm going to try to run some Gemini for you guys too to get some more information for you guys but I'm going to throw a lot of information on this video as well um for everybody so we can all learn together that's the whole point is to learn together every day um we take the opportunities that can make our life better so that's exactly what we're doing here today and um man the artwork I'm looking at already is just crazy we are waiting for a friend to get here our friend David um I'm sure he's going to be here soon he's probably just making it um yeah you guys ready man today's going to be a good day so um I'm going to pause here real quick and then I think you're asking about wat also known as the big Buddha temple it's one of the most popular temples In Paya known for its huge 18 M tall Golden Buddha statue you can climb a long staircase to reach the top where the statue is and it offers amazing views of the city the temple itself is beautiful with traditional Thai architecture and peaceful Gardens there are also some smaller shrines and temples on the grounds that are worth exploring is there anything else you can tell us about this place Gemini absolutely there's a great view point right by the big Buddha statue where you can get amazing panoramic views of pataya and the coastline it's a really popular spot for photos also if you're interested in learning more about Buddhism hey there all right Jame uh David made it so we're here guys attention and not go too crazy on the detail here cuz I can do that another day by myself um but yeah guys right now it is 83° it's a beautiful 83° outside there really isn't any um humidity today so um this is a beautiful view here and it feels great and we just had a beautiful weekend as well guys so I took the time to explore my area a little bit more without you guys I'm sorry about that but I'll take you guys around I promise I just just have to uh get some things situated and take a look around where I'm at you know cuz we haven't had the chance to do that because I got so excited just started recording videos getting here but wow guys this is uh amazing there's a lot to learn here today and a lot to look at um this is overwhelming for me actually cuz the artwork I just want to stare at the artwork and figure out how they did this um yes I'm stoked this is amazing um so yeah I'm just going to walk around here for a little bit and take this in um and then we'll get right to it guys wow this is amazing um I have so much here that I want to learn so it's almost surreal being here wow very very very very cool um kind of lost out words for now I hope you guys are enjoying right see you in a second the seven smaller Buddha statues at watra yay represent the seven days of the week in Thai astrology each statue has a specific posture and is associated with a particular day of the week according to Thai tradition people are encouraged to worship the statue corresponding to their birthday here's a breakdown of the statues and their corresponding days one Sunday depicted as a Buddha sitting in the mara posture symbolizing victory over Temptation two Monday shown as a Buddha sitting in the meditation posture representing focus and concentration three Tuesday portrayed as a Buddha standing symbolizing strength and protection four Wednesday morning depicted as a Buddha sitting in the meditation posture representing wisdom and knowledge five Wednesday afternoon shown as a Buddha standing symbolizing courage and bravery six Thursday depicted as a Buddha sitting in the meditation posture representing prosperity and good fortune seven Friday shown as a Buddha lying down symbolizing relaxation and peace 8 Saturday depicted as a Buddha sitting in the meditation posture representing stability and grounding it's worth noting that the specific postures sits on top of pumac hill so the views from there are pretty amazing you can see all over pataya especially the coastline and the beaches there are also some shops and restaurants right around the quiet guys cuz I don't have much to say I really don't I'm just letting it all happen wow look at the turtle on this one that really cool I really like that turtle look at the detail on this stuff guys another beautiful view so good oh yeah we got monks on the on the walls here these are probably people that are very very iconic to this country we just don't know we'll figure it out one day we'll when I get more time to get detailed so when they have like yesterday was sort of a holiday for a lot of people here in Tha what'll happen is here the monk will actually sit here and people will come in and they'll purchase tribute and they'll all sit here and they'll we'll sit here they'll place the tribute right here to recite the prayers that he recites okay you pick up an actual tribute which will be a tray of food things like that and you'll place it right on top of here the extend this and then he'll slide it his help put the side he'll bless you then you sit down and say one final prayer and then you leave okay okay that's how it goes right here guys which I did yesterday oh nice nice I got to catch up with you we're going to catch up and learn about all this stuff while we live in Thailand purchase you you put your 20 b in the Box okay 20 b in the Box you get your incense and then there's the yellow candle and also the flowers right you come you actually in the bowls there's like fire right there you light the candle and you light the bottom of the candle and you stick it so it stands up yeah then you light your incense put your incense with your flowers you get on her knees just like this young lady is and recite your prayers your wishes and there's an exact prayer that I'm not familiar with right and you sit there and you recite your prayers and then once prayer is given you bow you place the flow there you take the incense sticks and put them in the box stand them up so they burn and admit your prayer into the universe and then you come back to your knees you bow like four or five times okay touching the ground and then you're then you go okay so now I know about this specific flower I know you can also drink it because that's the first FL first drink I had when I got to Thailand I was reading about it and I was like okay I'm ordering that right now so as you see this is this is Temple Sac very sacred all right I'm going to let these guys pray here since we're learning it's just an energy up here as soon as I got up here I knew this was something very spiritual all right guys we're walking out of here it's going to be a slow walk out of here there's so much to see beautiful roses you know it's us look at this view on the way down man it's so cool have to get a good look at the texture here and the carvings as you can see guys that is all this is someone took the time to carve all this in here someone really did and that's just the railings it's like this is amazing it's so beautiful that I don't even want to touch it I see a lot of people touching it it's just I can't believe it I can just all I can feel right now is a feeling of success of the artists that created this they they knew what they were creating and they knew when it was going to be finished it was going to be beautiful and like this is it I can feel that part of their journey I mean a level of commitment that exactly exactly it's like I can feel it they they were like all right I'm going to do this I said when I finish it it's going to be beautiful that's why like I I've been by I've driven like kind of over there by the the sanctuary of whatever yeah Sanctuary truth and and it's um it's it's all wood like it took them like 15 years and the fact that it's still unfinished it's still to much it's a little it's still unfinished The Carving they're not done yet they've done wow guys so this is the big Buddha temple in wat fryi that's the name of this area the name of this Sanctuary guys so there's still more there's more stuff down that
