EXPLORING ANOTHER PLANET ICELAND IN THE WINTER (RING ROAD)

Show Video

good morning everyone it's day two here  in iceland and today we're leaving the   capital and we're gonna start our little road trip  around that island so the plan today is that we're   gonna head to a place down south called vic and  we're staying there there and it's supposed to be   some amazing waterfalls that we're gonna check  out on the way the only problem is that since   we're here in march in the winter a lot of roads  are closed all the time because of bad weather so   there's a site that you have to check every day  and it shows you the roads that are closed and   the roads that you can take and yeah normally it  would only take us around two hours to get there   but one of the main roads is closed you can't  pass it so we've got to do like a huge detour   that's going to add an extra hour so it's going  to take about three hours i think to get to the   first waterfall but yeah that's what we gotta do   so we're just filling up our  petrol for the first time   it's a self one so i think he just  passed here that's what she said right yeah so the price per liter 282 grona i  think we're feeling like half a tank right   yeah approximately okay so that customer is 3583 corona all right we have made it to the first stop how  was all that driving today well half of it was   just fine because at some places the  road was just like normal with no ice   but at other parts it was a bit scary it's  slippy it's slippery yep yeah but we made it   so this waterfall is called seljalandsposs i  think that's how you pronounce it big name oh   you have to pay yeah 700 700. so is this our first  snowy waterfall ever yes it is i don't think we've   ever been to one before right no no first time  yeah it looks amazing yeah look how huge that is   there's actually other little falls around  here as well you can see like little   yeah little falls going down the rocks  but obviously this is the main one here well that really is awesome though so apparently  it's uh 200 feet high so i think in the summer   you can actually walk all  the way around and behind it   but yeah it's full of ice so you  can't do that in the winter season wow other people up there isn't there another  viewpoint i guess we can slime yeah yeah this pathway up to this  fire pretty slippy super icy sleepy isn't it he's got this rope though oh now we don't   yeah up here the water's sprinkling  sprinkly water everywhere man it's even colder now yeah with  all this icy cold water sprinkling definitely got some good views though   so so it's kind of strange because today it's like  kind of nice blue skies if you watch yesterday's   video it was all like rainy and snowy but it  feels way colder down here like my toes are frozen   i think i need to put a two layers on so  there's another little fall here right next   to the main one back there and we're heading to  one that's hidden down here let's see everyone   going down this way all right so this uh  secret spot is crazy check this out so   there's a lot of spray once again but  you just go through this tunnel here   you gotta actually go through the ice cold  water luckily we got a waterproof boots man this is nuts whoa look at this thing  man look at all this breakout it's a shower gotta keep cleaning the lens wow look at this though how awesome is that like a shower  yeah we get a ice cold shower here   whoa the power though that is super powerful that's awesome right better than the  other one just because it's so bizarre   not many people coming in here look at this though the sound of this ice cold shower look at my face oh my now so they have this little shack there that serves  food so me and carol got some much needed hot   chocolate to warm up yeah and i also got a donut  so all this was 1370 corona nice and warm now   so we've now arrived at waterfall number two  this was about a 25 minute drive from the the   other waterfall so really close and this is also  a really famous one called skogafoss so the drives   around here are absolutely incredible it's just  like these mountainous icy landscapes everywhere   like that look at the size of that one man this  one looks way crazier than the others that we saw   look at the size of that thing it's like way  wider as well carol that rainbow is crazy yeah wow   i'm like having other goosebumps or something  yeah so beautiful this is way better than the   other one isn't it the first one because it's  bigger and you can get closer to it as well   yeah and there's the rainbow yeah and  the rainbow looks even better now whoa   i can't believe how clear the rainbow is like holy all right time to do the icy step  climb that looks like about 300 steps it's good to warm up anyway yeah this is a long way up quite the view though all right i thought we'd be able  to see it more from the front   oh no i don't think we can no just the top  wow yeah i shot the birds flying around yeah so here at the top you can walk  on even further there's more of a trail   look how cool that looks with the low sun so you  can follow the river at the top of the waterfall   and there is waterfall number two here yeah i  don't even know there's another waterfall up here yeah i mean this trail just continues on and  on i don't know where it goes it's not gonna   do all that though so i guess this is the name  of it i wonder how you say that character there   estava not your spot so frost  means a fall or waterfall so   that's why you have that word on the  end of a lot of the waterfall names so we just made a quick stop on the way to our  next destination because we saw this cute little   church here oh cute little chapel also got a  little uh graveyard here but pretty much in the   middle of nowhere nothing else around tiny little  chapel oh there is one house over there i think   it's kind of like that around here you just get  these houses like alone like little farms and   stuff wow look at this review there's also  a house here as well some sort of building   carol's the one that wanted to stop here yeah  i think it's cute yeah it is cute see quite a   few little chapels don't you like this like  alone in the mountains yeah in random places all right let's head to the next  stop before the sun goes down carol when you travel to iceland you don't go  to another country you go to another planet yeah   that's what we keep saying because everywhere we  go here it's just like we are in mars or something   yeah well some other planet yeah it's crazy yeah  so this spot right now is called rainiest viara   and it's a black sandy beach look at  this we're not even on the beach yet but   everywhere around here is just  completely pitch black like volcano sand got the epic cliffs loads of birds flying  around beautiful oh yeah i read in the   reviews that you got to watch out from  the waves here they can surprise you sneaky waves we've been to some black sandy beaches before in  other countries but yeah it was never this dark   well i can't get over it   yeah so this beach is famous  because of these columns here   that were apparently formed  by magma that's cooled down pretty interesting it's like little rectangles  or big rectangles yeah what a bizarre formation so if you come a bit further down behind the  columns there's this cave here like a black cave   as well really weird isn't it the the kind of rock  yeah this looks even more like magma yeah it does yeah that is bizarre got a close-up of it look at that almost looks a bit like a  slate but yeah it's different wow it's like sharp yeah sure   so here in iceland it's actually quite common  i think to have black beaches we'll probably be   seeing some other black beaches in some other  videos this one's really cool though how you   have the huge rocks coming out of the sea looks  small on the gopro but yeah it is really big oh it's the next morning now we thought that we'd  just show you quickly the place that we're staying   before we close out this video so it's an extra  miserable day today super cloudy and rainy so   we're staying in this spot here uh rutafel guest  house and it's actually a farm you can see all   like the machinery and yeah the little farmhouse  here did you know that we were staying in a farm   no no no yeah i guess they just decided to make a  guesthouse clever idea yeah but this weather today   can't even see the mountains properly back there  so today we were just having a rest day anyway   to do some work we've just been working on the  computers this morning and yeah just by look   it fell on this day right here this bad weather  day so yeah good coincidence yeah this place is   like flooded from all the rain look at this looks  like a stream or something i guess this is another   little farmhouse carol booked was in the middle of  nowhere it was one of the cheapest options around   oh yeah i don't think i mentioned 68 dollars  a night right yeah with a shared bathroom   yeah so we're just heading this way to check  out the icelandic uh horses so we were hoping   that the horses would be closer when we drove  past this place yesterday they were right here   on the fence but yeah they're in the distance and  i don't see any other of the horses around here   we'll probably see them better on another  day they have a really cool hairstyles   kyle's getting the zoom shots anyway yeah trying  to trying to yeah still pretty far though oh well   come on guys we just walked in the  rain for you can you come over here   please guys so we weren't gonna include this place  in this vlog today was like uh no filming day   we just went out to have lunch near skogafoss  and then we were looking on google maps and we   saw there was a glacier nearby and we read that  you could just come to it just to check it out   so that's what we're doing right now it's  about 40 minutes until the sun goes down   and we've just come to some absolutely magical  place got a little bit of the sunset back there   and look at this place there i mean what the  hell and that is the glacier back there so from   the parking lot i think we've only walked like  five minutes right uh yeah yeah about the five   ten minutes and we have this this beautiful valley  just amazing like every five minutes that you're   driving in iceland you're in a different place  yeah the scenery changes so quick so this just   looks amazing because i guess that's usually like  a lake it's frozen but you still have like these   little bits there that are not frozen like bright  blue yeah so you can see like the huge icebergs   way bigger than the icebergs that we  saw in uh patagonia you see a waterfall   over there oh yeah coming down from the mountain  wow to be honest i think this like cloudy   rainy weather actually adds a better vibe yeah i  would keep the the rain you just get the rain it's   fine the rain is a bit boring like if you want to  take pictures it's better it's a bit uh annoying   because you have to keep cleaning the lens yeah  all the time so if you're not a photographer   it's okay but if you want to take pictures it's  annoying but still like we are here we are in one   of the most beautiful places in the in the planet  let's check this out we're on the walkway here and   there's like just water coming out of the ground  or something so it's not even coming out of the   ground it's like below just an opening the problem  with rain yeah i need to keep cleaning the lenses wow that sunset worked way better than  yesterday right we need to be on the beach now   yeah so this is as far as we're gonna go today  this seems to be like the end viewing deck   so i think that's the name of  uh this glacier here solheim i think they're showing that  it's going back right oh yeah   yeah there used to be more and it's melting  2006 wow look out look at the difference there   that's some major melting yeah they can see  full of ice here the valley here no ice at   all i guess in the past it must have just been all  through here now it's more of a lake with icebergs all right closing out this video officially  now i'd already closed it out once since we   were expecting to film anywhere so hopefully you  thought all these places were amazing sure is for   us and uh yeah there's a lot more to come here  from iceland tomorrow we have another epic day   planned and yeah that'll be the next video so  yeah if you like this video just drop a like to   support us as usual subscribe like see more videos  like this one and we'll see in the next one you
