invited by the city tourism office as well as the Department of tourism um region 11 in helping those in the tourism sector na ma- introduce sila sa sa digitalization So doon talaga nag-start yung industrial at saka yung pagiging developmental partner namin ng Department of tourism and the davo City tourism office Kaya nung nagkaroon ako sa kanila ng partnership nagkaroon din ako ng interest in terms of um exploring the the different Uh tourism opportunities na pwede k gawin as a business So that's why maliban sa meron kaming mini farm na tourism business we are also doing um rental services Iyung car rental to be specific which is Actually part of the tourism sector then so to the best that I can I am hoping to share the basics of tourism and hospitality management Based on my um going to start with the topic number one which is all about the fundamentals of tourism management kasi meron tayong tinatawag na tourism management meron din tayong tinatawag na hospitality management and hospitality will Uh be discuss on the second topic so Bakit ba kailangan nating matutunan ang fundamentals ng tourism management of course marami tayong mga reasons na pwedeng i-consider why we need to learn no at isa sa mga pinaka reason talaga is of course para magkaroon tayo ng knowledge about the industry Syempre if you know about If you will learn more about the tourism management or the tourism itself it will provide insights in regards to the structure of the tourism sector pwede R maude diyan yung tinatawag nating dynamics of the tourism sector but of course um components ng tourism industry So that's why learning the fundamentals will give you the right industry knowledge about the tourism sector napaka crucial pa naman ng knowledge na pwede nating maabsorb out of the tourism sector kasi itong mga knowledge na to crucial Ito sa mga individuals na gustong ieng yung sarili nila in the industry either magwo-work sila in the in a business that belongs to the tourism industry Baka kasi gusto nilang maging isang sabihin natin hotel staff so they need to learn of course the fundamentals of tourism management or baka merong isang individual na gustong magpatayo ng isang business that focuses on provid tourism so Pwede rin namang maging ano y magon maraming career opportunities na pwede nating ano makuha out of this sector Actually isa sa pinaka kumbaga malaki ang contribution in terms of employment is the tourism sector talaga pero ang tourism din ang isa sa mga naapektuhan talaga during the pandemic So that's why yung na-mention ko sa inyo Kanina when the Department of tourism topped us nung kinontact nila kami they requested us to provide opportunities to those individuals in the tourism and hospitality na naapektuhan nung pandemic kasi siempre um nagkaroon ng mga unemployment no during um the pandemic season so sabi ng Department of tourism Davao Region Ano ba ang pwede nating gawin Ano ba yung pwede nating maitulong sa mga nagtatrabaho on this particular sector so naisipan nilang i-introduce yung digitalization niya So that's why again it is important that we need to learn the fundamentals of tourism management if you want to excel um in various roles within the tourism industry um or Shall we say if you want to contribute to the sustainability of the tourism industry the fundamentals of tourism management iyan yyung kailangan mong unang mapag-aralan so under this topic number one ito yung tatlong inclusions natin No of course the definition and scope of tourism yung key component of the tourism industry na- mention ko yan sa inyo Kanina and we are going to discuss about some Trends and of course yung challenges in the tourism sector Okay magen numerate tayo ng iilan sa mga um mga kumbaga challenges na pwedeng maranasan ng isang negosyo at ng isang ang empleyado na belong sa tourism sector earlier kanina no no yung bago tayo nag-start dito sa Zoom Hindi nga lang siya naano pa traveled para lang i-deliver yung aming advocacy based mission about digitalization in the tourism and hospitality we Actually traveled from different municipalities and Cities ng Luzon Visayas and even Mindanao para lang talaga maka out kami sa mga Filipinos na pagdating sa tourism digitalization is a mask na talaga this time So kaya um because of the travels na meron kami no dahil nag-travel kami from one place to another Syempre part of that is learning also different cultures no At saka mapag-aralan yung iba't ibang mga tourist destinations na well known of course in the Philippines Ano ba ang ibig sabihin ng tourism and Syempre yung iba sa inyo dito mga students mga tourism and hospitality students so I know meron na kayong idea meron na kayong knowledge in regards to what tourism is all about ba alam niyo na yan kung ano yung definition pero Let's just discuss it quickly In order for all of us at least magkaroon ng clear understanding What tourism is all about nababasa niyo naman diyan no sa presentation ko ah nakalagay diyan temporary nakalagay temporary movement of people outside of their usual places of Residences or even work So ibig sabihin temporary ibig sabihin kailangan mong bumalik kasi if you're going to doon ka na mag-settle for Good So hindi na tourist saun No because you are going to stay there for good nga so Like for example if you are a registered nurse actually ako registered nurse Ako by education and by profession when I was still in College nung nag-aaral pa lang ako ng nursing it is really my plan no or Ambition ko talagang mag-abroad magtrabaho abroad Syempre um maliban sa panibagong place na yon Syempre kikita ako do ng mas malaki ba I can earn in dollars Actually yung target country ko nga when I was still a nurse yung Australia Although Gusto ko naman yung America Canada United Kingdom pero during that time na nagpaplano akong magabroad gusto ko talaga Australia maybe because almost ano lang close yung time zone ba para at least if nandoon na ako kumbaga Um yung hindi masyadong malayo ang difference ng time zone pero hindi ako natuloy abroad because I discovered an opportunity wherein I can earn even in dollars Kahit nandito lang ako sa Philippines and that is by working online nga kung ano yung aking trabaho ngayon now going back to our presentation so again if you're going to settle for good It's not anymore tourism kasi pag sinabi natin tourism naka-highlight diyan yung temporary movement of people from their usual places of Residence or work nasabi natin kanina na itong movement na ito is not permanent Syempre nakalagay naman diyan temporary lang so meaning to say limited Yung kanyang duration or span of time Kung saan man siya kung saan man yung kanyang travel destination So ibig sabihin ako no Like for example I from Davao City tapos pumunta ako halimbawa ng ng tagom City So that's Actually another place outside of my Residence kahit na mga 2 to 3 hours lang Iyung distance ng Davao City to Tagum City pero pumunta akoon because meron silang celebration cultural celebration I stayed there like for 24 hours or nag-overnight ako to enjoy kung ano man yung mga night events nila that's Actually considered as tourism pa rin because um after 24 hours or 48 hours 3 days babalik ako ulit Davao to my original place of residence So that's Actually tourism hindi naman kasi necessary na dapat malayo or merong tinatawag na specific distance para masabi na tourist ka so since I am not from tagom City and I visited their place I'm actually called a tourist Pero kung meron kang bahay doon Kunyari ako may bahay ako sa tagom city so I am considering that City as another Uh residential address So hindi ka tourist and that's not what we called tourism tourist do not stay within their regular living no or working areas they travel they are traveling from one location to another with the purpose na makita Iyung natural beauty of the place Kasi kahit minsan kahit wala namang wala namang mga celebrations Like for example and Cebu ' ba Syempre maraming tourist kapag January because of their Festival pero What if they visited Cebu ng ng after January ' ba Ano ba yung reason ng isang individual Bakit siya pupunta doon sa lugar na Ian kasi gusto niyang ma-obserbahan or yung tinatawag nating cultural interest and mga various forms of attractions So that's why again going back to the definition There's only what we called a temporary movement of an individual outside of its Residence now Ano ba yung scope let's proceed on the scope of tourism p sinabi nating scope we are already done with the definition ba So pag sinabi naman nating scope of tourism Ano ba yung kumbaga range of activities Ano ba yung experiences na na pwedeng maranasan with the domain of the touris so kumbaga pag sinabi nating scope of tourism in this particular context kumbaga the statement highlights several dimensions or several types of tourism Depende sa lugar na pupuntahan nila what I am trying to say here is Meron kasi tayong mga tinatawag na for example lure tourism no meron tayong tinatawag na mga corporate um tourism yan yung mga example ng scope no meron din kasi tayong tinatawag na adventure tourism Like for example magbigay tayo ng example ng adventure tourism no kumbaga mga ano to thrilling and physically challenging na mga experiences kagaya halimbawa ng mga hiking ganyan or yung treking pwedeng maconsider yung mga water sports Like for example sharo na pwede tayo doon magsurf So that's an example of what we call adventure tourism and that's part of the scope of the sector now going back doon sation mer akure tourism the self lure Ano ba yung reason mo Why you are planning to visit yung mga lure tourism na mga spots kasi gusto mong makapagrelax or gusto mong ma-entertain so yan yung ibig sabihin ng lure um tourism kumbaga The Tourist gusto nilang maka escape from their routine kumbaga and of course pag naka-cap na sila doon sa nilang traditional or day today na ginagawa yung mga recurring activities na ginagawa nila ba pag naka-cap na sila doon Ano ba yung pinaka pinon na ginagawa ng isang stress na empleyado ba pumupunta sa mga beach resorts pwedeng beach Pwede rin namang mga inland na mga resorts yan yung example ng leisure tourism yung na-mention ko naman Kanina ' ba may na-mention ako na second Ano na example ng part of the scope of tourism yung um business no business tourism kapag sinabi naman nating business tourism Ano ba yung mga ano kumbaga um lure plus work parang something like that ' ba kumbaga they are an individual is going to travel for work related purposes kagaya halimbawa ng mga conferences ganyan yung mga meetings mga national congress or yung mga corporate events an ang tawag natin diyan business or corporate tourism kasi siempre ba after ng event ba ng mga conferences merong mga networking dinner Tapos kinabukasan schedule of tour doon sa city na nag-host ng particular event na yan ako at ito yung example ng ginagawa ko based on the video that I presented earlier kasi lahat ng mga places na navisit ko in the Philippines work related purposes kasi yun and may mga ano yan eh kumbaga mga side events na mga tour on that particular City or place na naghost activity naon yung adventure tourism na mention ko na y kanina yung mga like hiking or anything na ano physically challenging na mga experiences like if you want to climb the mount Apo ganyan yung cultural tourism yan vegan for example ang paka kaso primary purpose of the cultural tourism is for you of course to understand the culture no for you to understand the [Musika] Heritage yung mga traditions na meron doon Kung mahilig kayong pumunta or pumunta magbisita ng mga ng mga museums ganyan or magbisita ng mga historical sites cultural tourism ang tawag doon very interesting kasi meron tayong tinatawag na medical tourism no Ano to eh kumbaga um mostly kapag sinabi nating medical tourism you are going to travel abroad usually abroad eh kasi nandoon yung mga sasabihin na lang nating Magagaling na mga doctors kasi minsan Lalo na kapag may may pera naman kayo ' ba ah um you are going to seek medical assistance sa talagang mga experts at mas trusted mo yung mga doctors na based abroad no or outside of the philippines so kumbaga you are going to travel to a foreign country primarily to seek medical treatments or baka doon ka magpapaopera no Like for example sa mga members ng lgbt no yung mga sisters ko in the sector Pumupunta sila ng Thailand para magp ano surgical enhancement ng kanilang physical appearance So that's an example of what we call what we called medical um tourism like Thailand is known for mga retoke talaga kasi affordable tapos maganda naman yung nagiging output kasi sa Philippines kasi ang cosmetic surgery expensive kasi no expensive siya So that's why Maraming pumupunta ng Thailand as one of considered natin na country na may tinatawag na medical tourism now Bakit importante na maintindihan natin itong ah tinatawag nating divers nature of tourism Bakit kailangan maging specific tayo with lure tourism bakit ganon ba Bakit maging specific tayo with corporate tourism with Adventure with cultural or with medical tourism Ano ba yung significance non bakit kailangan nating maintindihan itong scope na ito of course um isa sa mga dahilan is for you or for us to have proper market um segmentation Maganda kasi na meron Alam mo yung specific scope no for you to identify for you to identify and for you to target specific market segments kasi yung mga tourist kasi meron yan silang mga distinct preferences Like for example ako h ako Hindi ako um fan of adventure tourism no ayaw na ayaw ko talagang ano kasi alam mo madali na lang akong napapagod Hindi kasi ako sanay sa walking tsaka never ko talagang parang hindi pumasok sa isip ko na akyatin yung Mount Apo Even though I am just near I am here in Davao City no never pumasok sa isip ko na i-try ang skydiving samantalang May mga tao naman na gusto nilang na that's part of their ano kumbaga parang plan or bucket list nila ba at sa Pilipinas pa or the cost of skydiving is nasa mga 30,000 above yan ba isang look sumula Meron naman dito sa Pilipinas mura 5,000 lang yung skydiving pero kaisang beses mo lang maranasan kasi paga mo sa lupa Wala na din masyado na siyang mura ako Hindi ako fan ng adventure tourism Kaya mas mas easier for me to identify no market segmentation or Kunyari ako negosyante ako tapos meron akong Farm and I am accepting tourist to visit my farm that's farm tourism if I know the particular scope of my tourism business Then I can easily identify Sino ang target audience ko sino ang pwede kong or kanino ko dapat i-promote ang farm tourism na brand ng business ko kasi as i mentioned earlier different tourist like you mga turista din kayo meron kayong mga distinct preferences yang mga cultural tourism Like for example yang sa Museum Hindi ko rin talaga yan siya feel kumbaga parang hindi every time na I am moving out of my Residence here in Davao no tapos magt ako from other places hindi ako masyado hindi ako nagkakaroon ng interest to join na mag-visit sa mga museum I am more only sure of course mga beach no mga swimming pools and so on so Again the significance of understanding the diverse nature of tourism number one is for you to have proper market segmentation and of course if you are on the business side of the tourism maliban sa may market segmentation ang pangalawa pwede nating ma-consider ang strategic planning ' ba meron kasi tayong tinatawag na mga dmo mamaya ma-discuss natin yan sa presentation ko meron tayong mga tinatawag na dmo or destination management organization kaya if you understand clearly the scope of tourism yung mga negosyante or mga negosyo in the tourism sector at saka yung mga dmos or the destination management organization they can Actually develop An effective um strategy no mas maka-react marketing di ba kasama diyan paano niya imarket Anong platform ang gagamitin niya if you are on the adventure tourism kunyari hiking so maliban sa pag-akyat ano pa yung unique experiences na pwedeng mai-deliver nung isang negosyo or ng isang dmo So that's why you need to understand the scope of tourism for you to have what we call proper strategic planning and Pwede rin natin ma-consider yung ano um Ano pa maliban sa market segmentation maliban sa strategic planning yung Resource allocation importante din yan yung How are you going to allocate your resources efficiently if you are on the lure tourism How are you going to allocate your sources efficiently because different types of tourism may require specific structure ba different types of tourism may require specific services So that's why um if you fully understand the scope of tourism you can properly allocate your resources efficiently Okay so that's why kailangan nating intindihin maliban sa alam natin ang definition dapat Na intindihan din natin yung tinatawag na scope of tourism now What are the different key components of tourism industry This is now the second the second Bullet of our topic number one we are discussing still the fundamentals of tourism industry Now let's proceed on discussing the key components of tourism industry so the same the same question din yung sasagutin ko bakit kailangan nating matutunan ang mga key components na to Again the same lang din yung isasagot ko sa inyo learning the different key components of this particular industry will give you no a comprehensive understanding of the structure of the dynamics within the industry now ano-ano ang mga key components na ito no before tayo magproceed dito sa graphics balikan lang natin yan I will just enumerate um the six Actually may iba but for the benefit of time let me just RW or enumerate like at least six key components of tourism industry attractions accommodations transportations hospitality services tour operators and travel agencies at yung sinasabi ko sa inyo kanina yung dmo na Remember niyo ba yan na na-mention ko kanina or yung destination management organizations so ito yung key components idi-discuss naman natin yan sila individually Okay pero bago tayo mag-discuss niyan balikan muna natin yung image na ipinakita ko sa inyo kanina yung tinatawag nating six tourism touch points from the arrival hanggang sa departure Kaya nga no according to the Department of tourism kumbaga parang o yung mga kakailangan or ang pagdadaanan o ang ma-experience ng mga turista sa lugar ninyo okay of course if I am from Davao Pupunta ako ngayon ng Cebu so pagdating ko doon Paano ba ako makakapunta ng Cebu baong kailangan K or service provider In order for me to go to Syempre Pwede kang mago maghanap ng mga travel agencies para bumili ka ng ticket mo for the airplane or pwede naman yung ano yung mga RORO for example ba kung twiin mo lang naman kasi tubig lang yung pagitan ninyo but Of course you need a travel agency so pagdating mo doon sa lugar sa Cebu so the first thing that you need to do of course ised to your accommodation para iiwan yung gamit mo no for you to enjoy the rest of the day yung transport kaya nga dito sa Davao City No I have a small scale um car rental business kasi ah nagagamit talaga siya I mean I mean kahit hindi nga tourist no yung car rental na service maliban kasi sa mga tourist even people in our location like in Davao City naghahanap talaga minsan ng mga car for rent kasi meron lang silang pupuntahan kaya in demand yang ganyang klaseng mga type of business shopping no kasama yung shopping dining and of course yung pag-alis niya departure yan yung tinatawag nating six tourism touch points at yung Ilan diyan pasok dito sa key components of the tourism industry Okay so comprehensively i-discuss natin quickly lang din no comprehensive pero quick lang kasi nga um We still have more topics to discuss unahin natin yung attractions easy to understand naman yan ' ba kapag sinabi nating attractions tourist spots something like that attractions are actually the features yan yung Pinaka feature ng isang lugar kung bakit sila dinadayo yan yung tinatawag na point of interest kunyari Ikaw bakit ka pupunta ng Bohol kasi merong feature or merong point of interest si Bohol that you want to see Like for example the Chocolate Hills So that's an example of an attraction that will help the province to draw more tourist na bisitahin sila so again attractions pwedeng ma-consider na features pwedeng ma-consider na yung point of interest kung bakit gusto nilang bisitahin ang lugar na yan pag sinabi nating attractions pwedeng natural like the chocolate hills that I mentioned pede rin namang um cultural cultural attraction Like for example um in vegan No that's cultural Pwede rin siyang ma-consider na historical or Pwede rin namang recreational na mga activities like in Cagayan De Oro City merong tinatawag na Wild River rafting that's why if you are going to visit Cagayan de Cagayan de Oro city in Mindanao dapat masubukan mo yung recreational activity na yun with the nature Okay ano ba ang significance ng attraction pagdating sa tourism Ano ang significance ng attractions pagdating sa tourism of course ang attractions sila yung primary motivation ng isang tourist or ng isang individual kung bakit gusto niyang mag-travel ang mga attractions na meron ang isang lugar they contribute no malaki ang contribution nila sa overall appeal ng ng travel ng isang individual kung ano yung attractions sa lugar na yan makakatulong yun para maimpluwensyahan ang decisyon ng isang tao na puntahan yung lugar na yon ' ba The decision making of the tourist no kumbaga naiimpluwensyahan ng mga attractions na yan ang decision making ng tourist na Sige puntahan natin
