Nugget Blue Rag, we got it all to ourselves. What look out! just They're everywhere it's like a big family they come with us everywhere. Let's see if they can catch us Nugget and I are heading to the Victorian High Country for a 7-Day 1500 km tour with Woody and Ellyse of Ellwood Motorcycle Adventures on brand spanking new Honda CRF 450 RLS modified for the tough stuff this place has some of the best adventure riding in the country. Woody grew up here and he knows it like the back of his hand so hang on to your helmets folks this promises to be a great ride. Hi, my name's Dave Darcy and you're watching Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV. We do three things on this channel, round the world bike Adventure through some of the most stunning countries you can imagine and then we do detailed bike reviews where we actually ride the bikes offroad and finally we do stunning bike builds and this is our latest example the Himi 450 that we've just converted to adventure. So if you like what we do on motorcycle Adventure dirt bike TV subscribe. We're heading to the Victorian High Country in the southeast of Australia and by the
looks of that 1500 km route we're going to be exploring it extensively the ride kicks off at Healesville about an hour's drive from Melbourne a great location for the fly in fly out Riders and on the edge of the mountain range. Ellyse, a dream come true on brand new Honda CRF 450 RLS you must be proud I am very proud it's uh taken a long time to get here. Woody is a big lover of the drzs (Suzuki) for good reason yes but I finally convinced him to go red yeah they're a great allrounder yeah unbelievable graphic looks amazing yeah beautiful no they're brilliant so we got 1 to 20 we got 20 bikes with us um yeah here's Nugget's bike I noticed he he gets steg pegs look at that yes he's some sort of racer he's a racer only the best get the steg pegs yeah yep there you go yep fresh tires he's ready to rock and roll but I did want to put lowering links on he's a little bit short but he got a bit upset so we'll see what's happening Nugget hang on you've called in the big guns here we go hang on a minute head mechanic is uh here we are strapping Oink on he's worried about his safety yeah we can't have him fall off he's like a bar pad if I go over the handlebars oh yeah he Cushing your chin he's got a couple of broken ribs but he's going to sit he's going to be pretty sturdy. Is he a good Rider? He's better
than me he doesn't talk as much though but you know they say if you can't ride fast, talk fast. The first day of any tour is called 'shakedown' where the Riders settle their nerves get used to their bikes and adjust to riding in a new group Nugget has got his own unique take on how Riders respond to this first day of the ride. Hey nugget don't these bikes handle a okay they're surprisingly good yeah and silent like you crack it on and you can barely hear it but just already he takes off it's it's good you know when I tested these I thought the suspension was good I thought the handling was good that the engine was just down a bit of power they've nailed that handling yeah I don't know what they've done it it I don't know whether it's stock or not but yeah it's got plenty of poke no it's got a better ECU in it so that's what's gives it that poke I normally ride a 500 and it's probably wouldn't have popping wheel stand stands you see where just accelerating and it's just lovely it's been good yeah that first hour though it's like the 'running of the bulls' isn't it like everyone's just like everyone says take it easy but then everyone's just it's everyman for himself yeah that's right you got to today is about settling in but but most people don't do that there no such thing as settling in there's a race in front beautiful tracks look so goodm look at the trees. I can see you're ticking over the problem a look we get over it Nugget will jump it you know got a 300 over that Andy look at that helpful Andy he we should be paying him yeah you going to get your chainsaw out out yeah you going to chop this big one down for us hang on hang on I'm always showing no go yeah under you guys he's out it's like a a rebirth got 10 keep it on We're heading through Toolangi and Murrindindi State Forests picking our way over mountain ranges ridge lines and power line tracks it's just a feast of variety our overnight day is at Lake Eildon woohoo God the suspension on this thing's great Nearly whisky throttled then hello look what's going on over here boys a are these going on Dave's Bike or yeah Dave wants steg pegs has he been complaining well he made a pretty big complaint yesterday afternoon so I'm guessing he's uh he's had enough and want some steg pegs I thought steg pegs are for wankers oh look Nugget I've I've changed my mind you know what they say about steg pegs what getting used to the hardest thing is keeping your skirt out of the chain The thing I love about the Victorian High Country is the crisp clean air and the variation in tracks you know you got this sort of stuff and then get into erosion mounds that climb forever and then down the other side river Crossings got everything so these are my sort of trails I love this sort of stuff This is our first spur track up to Mount Terrible and it's our first decent Hill Climb We rise over 1,000 metres in around 10 km but as you know what comes up must come down and the descent into Jamison is just as steep woo The first time I've ridden with Tania for a week in the wet tropics and she's never even looked like dropping a bike in a river crossing well she's made up for lost time she also has the honour of sinking the first of the new fleet oh you got it t this is the first you got first to sink CRF the brand new of the fleet brand new it's first for me to go down in a river as well here we go let's see how they go you got to turn the key off and on again yeah reset it that here you go this it's intense isn't it it's the crowd's just just waiting P yeah t the py you could be in the truck on the way home that's right she have the CH oh I don't know about that yes so so completely submerged well done yeah you know how to be water yeah you have to go back and come across it's all right oh y I reckon that's a choker God the suspension on this is good keep saying it it's just unreal we spend the afternoon riding in the Alpine National Park we're heading for our overnight stay Bluff Hut the third highest Hut in the High Country sitting at over 1500 M the camp oven meat and vegetable dinner is keeping me focused on the job you wooo oh m camping life all the different setups it's so refreshing getting back in the Victorian High Country I mean the riding we're right in it now and uh we're at 1500 M and camping at this the Bluff Hut cracking place. Here are my Leatt tent pegs
They're looking after us. What a spread Woody. You look after us always mate always mate. You need a feed after a big day don't you look at that what a healthy that is Camp Oven Roast in a Cattlemen's Hut in the High Country. Can't get any better than
that. What a healthy meal that is. you know what's going on oh look at that get out of that Nugget you're in the gravy It's Gav's gravy. It's good gravy. Don't throw me under the bus, He Gav, Nugget's swimming in your gravy. All right chicken time guys we're going to hand choker her out for the act of stupidity
for the day so do we have any nominations for the at of stupidity or for the day I've got one Nugget uh yep I've got a I saw today you helping a guy go up a hill you took the bike off him and you said I couldn't watch just we can't watch we I heard we we can't watch we can't watch that incompetence any longer and you just snatch the bike off him and you rode it up the hill was that true well I didn't really snatch it I was that little I was under his armpit yeah now this one's here I'll take it now this one's recorded on video yes on video. Niall, where is our Irish gentleman. where is there he is hang on let me just the light on him viewers it was a bit boring so I Ithought I jazz it up a bit. Most of you guys were at the bakery but the Husky crew were getting geared up and we' nominated well I'm dropped my bike before I started it! Well that's up there Nugget.
Matt The Phantom dropper oh Matt he's gone Matt gone mat all right your sa by the Bell right that was great dam D it I would save my bacon. Matt small things just small things done and this little choker goes on your bike I thought you I thought you would I'm just glad you came along cuz Nugget had me lined up last night for that no I know you were in the firing line but I saved you I'll drop that on purpose just for you yeah yeah no thanks man I really appreciate it let me shake your hand that was good work. For those interested I've tacked on discussions with a couple of riders regarding their bike builds that's it for this episode when we return the action continues bye for now Anthony and Rick now these guys are on KDM now I've done a husky 501 build really looking forward to talking with Anthony about his very interesting KDM 500 build but I Mook that I don't know how with that cylinder but I Mook that for a 350 and R got a 350 mate so this looks pretty well set up as well so just go through the bike how many k has it done uh 1,250 1,50 35 hours right yep what sort of riding does it do I got to be honest only bought it for this trip oh wow I've written it down the street and I've tricked it up and here it is all right tricked it up so what have you done to it you got in aurus tank Y how how many lers 12 12 lit of service yeah got the radiator fan all right radiator fan yep yeah on you know the temperature yep and I got the suspension done by MP MP up at the North Coast there right um just little bits and pieces little bit of protection there on the swing arm some G there good foot pegs rib brake anything else as I come around the bike have you ever had a 350 before Rick no mate 701 I've had I've got 7 bikes but uh seven bikes so what made you pick a smaller one like this this trip for this lots of hills lots of hills you're right about that y okay I'm getting older and a bit hard to pick up a a big bike yeah yeah I'm I'm I'm hearing you all right now let's have a talk to Anthony thanks mate good riding Che mate all right Anthony uh just hold it like lovely looking 500 Anthony now just run us through us you put a lot of thought into this I'd say probably the most impressive bike in the fleet that we currently have here although there may be someone who Pips you at the post tomorrow you don't know well well and truly likely let's start with this Tower that's a pretty auspicious Tower it's an aurora rally Tower right Andrew Hulan and auy All rights those y um yeah I modified it a bit and I've done the electrics right um yeah oh yeah you mooved your Speedo forward You' got your gar in there you got two to be sure to be sure yeah so uh UHF GPS and then the xd2 yep that's just tire pressure and I wanted the the Taco on the oil temperature as well right yep and let's go through the down here on the bike I now you come to the left that's all right that's a decent bash plate C fuel yeah it's 8 L lower tank with a 15 1/2 L of chy so it's got 23 1/2 L wow that gives you great range doesn't that yeah 500 odk I'd say that's depending on the riding but the the lower tank is is what makes it so if I go out Duro riding with my son I just put put all the fuel down the bottom all the fuel down the bottom and it's got that little bit of extra weight you don't even notice yeah yeah must change the handling must make it really good it it does yeah yeah yep yep it's got It's got a you see the header pipe is a the header pipe takes a couple of horsepower off the top Y and adds a couple horsepower to the bottom right so she's a little bit torer than stock got a Vortex ignition yep which um improve things the acro stick pigs Acro yep heater grips oh right it's all set up for those cold Queens land mornings and a nice soft comfy seat yeah so Topline seat in Melbourne so $200 so you can buy your seat Concepts or you can send your seat down to Top Line and they they do it they'll redo it n it's amazing you got some mounts here yeah so I can I run the ker OS so I can put either 6 l or 18 L bags on it right yep it's cush drive hub so they're hand wheels yes um yeah lovely cush Drive yeah I've got a cush Drive makes a difference I'm quite impressed with it yeah and uh steering stabilizer yeah yeah yeah which which um yeah I don't know if it makes a difference I put it on just on spec yeah and I thought I had it turned off but apparently reading the book I can't turn it off so still got it on still got it on and and it seems to work so um and I've done the suspension actually yeah suspension's done by mpu MP where are they based uh up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland okay actually put cone valves in the front oh cone valves yeah they're beautiful yeah yeah amazing little little bit rough at at pedestrian speeds but you get going it's like you know you're on a marshmallow it's beautiful I no it's you good got a good fuel filter there too yeah yep yep and I actually run two so that's uh that's the fuel pump there yeah I also run a spare up in there as well up in there so yeah all by have fuel fuel pump issues so I look forward to to filming this Anthony it looks like a cracking bik yeah yep good ride have a safe ride thanks D thank you now Rod Nugget's a bit of a Dr fan is he this one looks quite an unusual the engine looks pristine mate yeah well I was a bit lucky Pi it up from a guy in math and he uh he'd done all the hard work for me so I didn't have to do much at all got the big tank and the and the uh all the all the bells and whistles you've got this this is a very solid you need it it is H well he didn't do that I did that right okay went to Bunnings went to BU cost about 10 bucks or something like that yeah yeah yeah just W on I'm hoping it'll surviv the trip well I'm going to watch with interest it's been the birds fing back has it yeah some pretty rough roads so oh that's that's all okay that's all right I just noticed you got an spare rear tie there just in case well there's a reason for that this bike I think is 177 in and the rest of them are all 18 so I thought I'll bring one Chuck it in the you yes good idea and maybe the boys will cheuck it on the trailer yeah yeah yeah no that's good anything done to the bike I mean it looks a bit blinged just for electrics and navigation yeah they um previous owner jetted it right is U cut a bit of a hole in the airbox a little a bit more air in yeah and apart from what you can see you know sump guard yeah um few other things yeah it's it he's done it all for me so that was a um I snapped it up I didn't didn't negotiate the price yeah yeah no they they go at a good price though these untouched people have dreams yeah about 10 grand something like that right excellent work I'm looking for exhaust yeah looking good he done everything all right look forward to riding with you Ro yeah can't wait mate see you mate all right now tell me Nick you're the only one on a y on this ride what's going on only bloke with class only BL with class now it's a 450 yeah have you done much too I can see a safari tank on it there yeah it's done 14,000 K and most of it's been in the desert so wow it's uh it's it's a good Beast now have you done anything of the suspension or kept it stock no no no it's been done redone three times now wow so you got it set up the way you want it now I have I have yeah uh so how how many liters do the Safari tank H 29 29 oh gee that's a big so gets about 300 K wow yeah wow that's amazing yeah anything else in there you got to set up oh high bars I've never seen that they're like [ __ ] bars they're like they are like hell like you seeing U what's that movie with um Wild Hogs Wild Hogs yeah that's what I'm thinking of Adventure High um it just makes life easy yeah I don't sit down much right okay all standing up yeah so whole bike set up to stand up and you're um just notice your aring up there you just got that set up solid mount straight to the bar yep hey well that's a good bike thank you wait looks a s pigs he's like nugget races Hill clim pigs I call them all right mate welcome thank you cheers thank you all right now give me that Paul there must be something special about the CRF 450s because we've got a whole Fleet of them over there and you decide to pick your own bring your own yeah yeah I've uh I've had Honda A Farewell now so uh got this one before Christmas got it set up uh over at New Mera with Dave there did a great job and how many C has it got how many k on it yeah uh 300 wow okay so it's it's brand new yeah so suspension done on it then n suspension stock um suspension stock yeah what size tank do you have it's a nomad uh it's 11 1/2 I think 11/2 L yeah 11 and2 anything else you've added to it that I need to know about so I've got the vortex umcu in there and obviously new pod um uh and just all the BNB um stuff stuff yeah yeah G G oh B&B bash plate there yeah bash plate and uh rear rack onir yeah that's a solid one yeah and obviously so yeah now he's done BNB radiator guard see there yeah yeah so he's done a good job setting it up hope to stay upright on it for the next couple of days welcome aboard good to see you thanks bye
