welcome to man 360 I'm your host Brian today I interview Michael Scott the CEO and co-founder of peerflix Michael and I talked about the streaming service pureflix including some great programming they provide specifically for men he also gave some advice about building a successful faith-based company and remaining strong in your convictions for our tips and tricks segment I go over a few purchases to consider when using a travel trailer we've learned a lot on some longer trips we taken recently and thought it would be great information for you then in our travel segment we head out of the country to Italy and visit a multigenerational Olive Grove that we toured while on vacation I'm glad you're here let's get started welcome to man 360 [Music] [Music] Michael Scott didn't start out in Christian Media but that's exactly where God led him he started his career in the world of commercial media to what he does now providing an online streaming service made up of familyfriendly programming it was all amazing to hear and I think you'll be challenged when you hear his answer to my question about staying true to your convictions here's my interview with Pier flick CEO and co-founder Michael Scott Michael thank you for being on the program yeah it's awesome to be here I appreciate it so much yes sir so um I wanted you to talk a little bit about pureflix about uh you know just kind of what it is basically for people yeah you know going back in time pureflix originally started as a a movie studio right and uh we producing movies then it moved into distribution and distributing movies we did all types of movies probably 30 to 50 movies and then bigger theatrical movies um and many of you seen like God's not dead and other movies like that that we've done but in 2015 we want launch pureflix the streaming service and it's like a Netflix but it's it's pureflix but it's all God oning content that you can watch with your family we have content for men women kids every across the board and you can watch it commercial free on any device anywhere anytime awes and it's um it's an incredible service that we've been curating and growing the catalog we have thousands of titles up there and we're bringing 30 50 new titles every single month to the platform that's awesome so men specifically obviously for man 360 uh what are some programs or things that you feel like would attract the man to your audience they may think it oh this is just another Christian something yeah Christian Hallmark basically thanks Michael for Christian Hallmark what speaks to men well you know I I think it's right because a lot of the entertainment sometimes that comes out of Christian uh you know we've been trained in making films we got to think about that that woman 35 Plus that Mom right right and um we have lots of stuff for the thing I was just we were just talking a little bit before and I was like brought me to the mind we have a great title in I call it kind of the faith-based John Wick and it's ear up when you said that I was like it's got all the stuff in it right it's called Beckman it's on the platform and it's a great film it's a fun ride it's got the faith themes in it but it's got some of that action it's got the shooting the you know the fun the the whole thing we have other titles like sons of thunder which is a TV series about a biker gang um and that's really cool we actually have sons of thunder Redemption which is a second series to that um we have other titles on there we just launched a kind of an action uh Adventure it's more of an adventure title Called Love on the Rock which is it takes place in Malta The Rock Me Malta and uh it's got you know some great actors in it so there's not I think so often you think about pure flicks or you might think about faith-based entertainment you think oh that's for my kids or that's for my wife no we have titles for you AES on the platform that you can enjoy and sit down and you know what your wife every once in a while she needs a good action flick too as Welly wife can't just watch the love stor some of my favorite movies for my wife is actually action movies which cracks me she loves kung fu movies she loves like martial arts and which cracks you get that in Beckman for sure oh yeah it's got tons of martial arts and we're to binge that one then too great watch that yeah so I wanted to ask you specifically um you know you've really done I feel like been a good Bridge from the Christian world into the I don't want to call it secular cuz we're all secular until you know all of us on this Earth but really working in kind of what more world worldly Focus or or perspective so how do you feel like you've kept your specific you know your Christian identity inside of working inside of that world and those relationship you it's a good thing I came from the commercial world I did commercials for apple and and car commercials for all the manufacturers and everything like that and I saw the power of media what you could do a 30second commercial or even a single photograph could motivate people to buy a computer buy a car buy this buy a Tac from Taco Bell whatever it is right um and I realized if we can take that and use that for the Lord it'd be incredible right and so when I set out to get into kind of the faith-based side of things Faith and family side of things I set out with a Clear Vision this is what I wanted to do I think it's a dangerous thing so many people say well I could I I want to make you know the next whatever Marvel movie or whatever and they might use faith-based as a stepping stone to get that but I think if if the Lord's put on your life to do something in this stick with what the Lord's given you he probably didn't put you here to do the next Marvel movie some people yes you know but you can make a difference right here and you can Elevate what we're doing here to make a difference and there's lots of incredibly talented artistic people and my advice to them is just be persistent go do it and stick to what the Lord's got you to do yeah I feel like too it's like if we are if we're doing the things that are reflection of who God's created us to be he's going to give us the desires of our heart and to be able to follow them those and I feel like too like you know we have the creator of the universe inside of us I think sometimes we always look to you know the world and we say what you know what do they do we try to copy them in some kind of way and it's like why can't they come to us and say well how did you do it on that budget you know how did you do it with those actors that agreed to work with you how did you do it in that way so what do you feel like is on the horizon for pureflix in um in being able to minister specifically to man are there anything any projects or anything coming up right now yeah we're do shooting an awesome project right now it's being shot in South Africa it's a TV series called Revelation Road um it's actually we did a series of films on Revelation Road it's kind of an end times um Mad Max end of the world type thing nice and it's got tons of action fight scenes in it uh kind of Book of Eli is if you book at Eli um and so we're shooting that right now in South Africa probably come to the platform later this year super excited about that so that's one really designed for men awes and you know what we also have the stuff for the women too so you know as men there we sometimes got to do those date nights right so we got some titles that you'll enjoy there's some romcoms on there that you know I think you know it may not be our first choice but I think when you sit down and watch it you'll like it too and your wife will appreciate you for it for sure and it's like and you're like maybe you can do a deal you're like if we watch this then we'll watch something else yeah the Suns of Thunder exactly so well Michael thank you for being on the program I appreciate it so much I appreciate your your Phil and we're just continue to pray for you pray for the ministry really the of you being able to really reach out and really be light in such a dark industry and world that God's going to continue to bless you well thanks so much and you know I'd love to tell the viewers you know sign up for pureflix yeah you can go to pureflix.com sign up test it out it's one week free and you can get in there and consume everything we got stuff for your kids for you for but for you men there's some fun stuff on there yeah that's awesome thank you Michael thanks much appreciate it byebye Brian Morris has been presenting the gospel an exciting and creative ways for over 25 years host of man 360 and the author of holy crap finding God presence in your pain Brian's mission is to help men find the joy of God even in the heaviest of life's circumstances you can have Brian Morris speak at your next man's event by contacting us at man 360. avont we look forward to seeing you soon [Music] so for today's tips and tricks segment I wanted to talk to you a little bit about some things that we needed figure that we needed from our 24-day trip in our travel trailer actually I'm standing in front of our Open Range travel trailer that yolan and I just used and some things we're going to talk about are kind of obvious and things that you would maybe kind of just common sense other things are ones that we actually purchased or we got that actually helped enhance our trip and maybe something that you wouldn't think of so the first thing I want to go or talk to you about is one of maybe the most technical pieces of equipment we have here and it's this board it's actually a 2x6 board and um you're like why would you carry a 6ot or so uh board like this when you're leveling your trailer yolan and I found out from two different campsites that it was more than 4 and a half Ines to be able to level the trailer so you have a leveler that you'll drive up on and they're two um if you've seen them you drive up on the wheels and it pushes that side of the trailer up and we actually I was thinking you know if we would have about two more inches it would be perfect so I bought this board at Home Depot was about eight bucks I put it in the back of my truck and now if we ever need it which is this is totally poetic so we did that for the two uh campsites that we were at all the rest of the campsites were fine so it's the two that you didn't have that you didn't think you needed this but you need this very technical piece of equipment again this 2x6 gives you about 2 in more of height to be able to level your trailer the other thing that we did purchase or I had before the trip that I've used a few times but actually ended up I covered up the top of our over the bathroom there's like an open clear open uh kind of a sun roof kind of a piece that goes over the bathtub and so the heat was actually heat was generating inside the the bathroom and it was the middle of the summer very hot so what I did is I brought some of this it's a metal tape and actually it will it's a single-sided tape on one side sticky and then it's just a metal reflected tape so it's basically just just tin foil that is sticky that you can put onto plastic and to be able to do reflective uh so that you don't let Sun basically into your trailer different ways and it's also just good for um taping things we actually had a couple door pieces that were coming open and so I actually tape that so anything like this that's tape or uh pieces that you can use to be able to connect things again your trailer is going through about a three uh point or 3 point earthquake basically every time you drive down the road so there's things that are shaking and jarring so things like this can really help the other thing that um is really important is slide lubricant so this is actually um ffer I guess is the is the brand and I got this before I left uh before we left and I sprayed it and actually what it does is it waterproofs the rubber on all the seals so we have a single slide on the other side of the trailer and so I put this on the rubber on the top and the side and what it does is actually again it makes it waterproof on the Rubber and you just spray it and let it sit and then it just helps again with water uh preventing water from getting in your trailer in that kind of way the other thing that we have is a shower head valve now when you're taking a shower in a travel trailer you have to think conservation everything's about conservation you uh you know you don't just stand under the shower and let the shower hit you while you're getting your soap and other things but you actually we have in here in the shower there's a little piece that you actually just turn the little nozzle and you slide it over and it stops the water pressure and water flow so you set your temperature basically perfectly you slide this lever and then every time you need to use the water you just open the lever open now our head of our shower head you you can turn it and it'll actually shut the water off but what this does is it helps it's a little more convenient it's a little easier if you have soap in your hands and everything too you can just turn that dial really great super simple I think it costs maybe like $6 you can get them at Home Depot and um again great and we will also give you links to everything that we're talking about today on man 3.two so the other thing we have is a water pressure gauge super important um these are the two different water pressure gauges that we have I bought this one that's an auto gauge this is a Camco it actually works really well well um there's no way to adjust the flow and the pressure when it's coming out from your um from your water fixtures or whatever at the campsites into your trailer so your trailer you should stay under 50 psi for your trailer uh the hoses and everything in your trailer they're not made to really go above 50 psi and actually I talked to another guy he said you can actually go up to 60 with newer trailers but still the safe zone is about 50 uh 50 psi so actually what I did is I purchased this is an actual uh gauge and then you actually have a little Phillips head screwdriver around here so if you have like little nefarious kids or whatever that are running around the park um they're like turning up your water pressure and blowing your hoses out or whatever this screws down and then you adjust this to the Plus or the minus and then you can actually set how much pressure you want to allow into the trailer so one thing to remember too um we always set our pressure at the maximum amount on this because when you're in a campsite if there's a lot of different trailers and people that are pulling off of that water pressure once you go from 60 then like your shower is going to go down a lot it maybe will um you know like when you normally like for Yolanda she has to have a little more pressure for to wash her hair cuz she has long luxurious locks of hair so basically what we had to do is we have to use the water pump in the trailer and I'll talk a little bit about that later about how to make sure if you're taking a shower you can also make sure and have good pressure at the shower head so we also have um some different types of grease that I purchased um we have the dialectric grease that actually is for the the pin that goes into the bumper for the truck that actually helps to keep it lubricated and also um basically what it does is it keeps the metal connection good so sometimes they can get rust or little corrosion pieces inside of that trailer hitch piece and actually just helps to connect with that so um this is just tuneup dialectric grease I think this is like $3 or4 this is hitch ball lubricant so basically for the hitch um the where it connects to the ball of the trailer this is really good because it doesn't break down with water it's water soluble so you can you have to worry about the water breaking it down and it actually helps when you you know so you don't have to exactly line up your hitch perfectly with the trailer you can actually let it be able to slide on and off easy and actually this is a pretty good amount so I've actually used this with again the trailer and um yeah it works great so a few things that we did for upgrades on the trailer this is really cool um there were two specific things that we did that really that yolan and I were talking about so basically have a key for everything on your trailer right but this is really cool this is actually it's an called RV lock is actually the brand of it and again we'll give you a link on man 360.

and what you do is you actually type your code in I'm not going to show you my code I don't want you to break it into my trailer and then you press this and you can either lock it or unlock it just with the key just the key code here now there's also in my pocket I have right here they also give you a remote right here so if I want to lock it there's the unlock and you have a little key now this to me this is really just kind of gimmicky um I didn't actually use this as at all in our 24-day trip I was actually just using the key code here you know once you step up to the door it's kind of cool to be like somebody else is listening in the next uh camping spot over and you're like hey Al you want to get into the trailer okay we can get in now I mean it's just super gimmicky but it is cool it actually has a on each of these we bought a second lock for the front of the trailer as well and you can actually do your lock and unlock in two different locations on your remote so it is convenient um you know maybe if you would think that you maybe you're not going to remember your code or you'd forget your code and you just have a remote you can just use your remote to unlock uh your door the other lock system that we used so we actually replaced the lock with the front lock with this dial lock so this is really cool this has a um a dial on here so you just have three numbers and then you just basically roll these numbers to whatever it is and then you turn it the only challenge with this with it being silver is that if the Sun's shining right on it it is really hard to see and so um I'm going to actually look into maybe getting like a black one with white lettering cuz also at night if you have just even a a little bit of light or you're trying to shine some light on it it's a super cool you know chromy reflective ooh look at the cool Chrome I hate Chrome in general anyways um but yeah it's like it's shining back in your face and you can't really um can't see it in at night as well so if it's dark or black and has white numbers that would be much easier so I also want to talk to you just a little bit about just some tips that again in this 24 trip 24 day trip it really helped us to kind of think about the trailer as a whole and just against just a few things to consider so yoland and I actually had a leak we thought was a leak in our trailer when we had extended our trailer the slide out at one of our campsites and instantly in your mind when you see water coming into your trailer this trailer is 2021 so it's only a year old and we're sitting there and we're like I I'm going okay I got to contact the warranty company do I take it in do I have to just go find somebody to fix it because we're going to be on the road and my mind just went to like all this different places but all it was was there was a piece of a of an air scent thing that I put up in the vent it was my fault not Yolanda's and it actually fell on top of the slide and then when we put the slide out it actually allowed the rubber to be open and then there was actually water that was getting in through that little Point um on the trailer on the slide on the top so basically what we did is basically occasionally I'll go get on top of the trailer and just check down at the slide there's a rubber piece that comes in and out when you're coming out and I'll show you in a little video here while I'm talking there's a piece that's on the rubber there sometimes that rubber will get tucked under this last trip as well we have had rubber that was tucked under on one side and the rubber actually allowed the water to get between the slide and the outside of the trailer and it rolled and it went into the trailer again so that was again a challenge um we also make sure we always have at least a third of a tank of water no matter where we go in the travel trailer so it is more weight with your truck uh being able to haul a travel trailer but the good thing about it is that you can use it for showering this is one thing I was mentioning about that that uh fixture that actually stops the water and turns it back on like mentioned when Yanda was showering with her water pressure when you have water in your holding tank you can just turn the water pump on while you're taking a shower and it actually will bring the pressure up to what's what the trailer was designed to do to be able to give you enough water pressure to uh to be able to wash your hair or whatever gives you enough pressure in the shower normally in the sink and those kind of things it's normally good and you don't really have to worry about that but specifically for showering it can help also depending on where you're going to stop you don't know if there's always going to be water wherever you are you can also pull over to the side of the road if you stop for lunch sometime with the travel trailer you'll know have done that and you actually have your restroom right there you can push the slide out just enough to get the the door open you can use the the toilet you can use the sink water by the pump and have again just about a third of a tank of that water in your holding tank um so I just wanted to give you a few things again just to think about and consider with your travel trailer maybe you don't own one maybe you like to own one maybe you already do own one but just to think about some of these tips and tricks and also just other ways to and things to consider when you uh want to enjoy your travel trailer experience [Music] you may think that we're at the Olive Garden but we're not we're actually in an Olive Grove in the Tuscan Countryside of Italy and I was just thinking about you know they were talking about and hearing about the process of making olive oil so I don't know if a lot of people realize this so it takes about a year from the time that the olive begins to grow and begins to start to Bud and then grows to maturation before it is ready to process pulled off of the tree and actually crushed and there's a crushing process that happens where it's crushed actually into a paste kind of a um to be able to extract the oil and I was thinking in our lives you know you think about the times that we feel like life is pushing us is stressing us is pushing us down but really think of that same quality of what's coming out of us in going through those process and current during those times so again beautiful countryside here and that really reminds me of all the times in our lives when we are feeling crushed we're feeling pushed we're feeling pressed but really realizing that there's a really sweet and great oil that can come from those crushing and those pressing times in our lives he [Music] it's so crazy how God took everything I've ever experienced and repurposed it to prepare me for where he was wanting to take me you know I had always wanted a career in music but it didn't seem possible I had some hard business situ situations and uh lessons that I had to learn you know through it all for some reason God wouldn't let that passion die out uh the thing I see now is that God continued to make me better through all of that he repurposed my setbacks into setups for what he had planned and it was crazy every time I felt discouraged I heard God telling me hey you did not come this far just to come this far you know he just continued to remind me every step of the way hey Sean remember this isn't about you it's about what I want to do through you finally after that prayer that's when God said okay you're ready and uh a month later my family and I we uh we were taking a leap of faith and moving to Tennessee me and my family once we took that leap of faith it all lined up so perfectly and the only explanation honestly is God because it's nothing that I could have done on my own just the connections that he made all along the way one led to another led to another led to another and it was just so clear that it was God you know um we rock they connected me with a great Dove award- winning writer his name was Tony wood and he came in he sat down for a co-write with me and my producer gatron and the first song that we did actually the first song that I ever wrote in Tennessee turns out um that became the debut single step into my story we wanted it to be real we wanted it to be openhearted uh just kind of reflecting on the mess that our own Pride can get us into for me you know it was remembering the messes that my pride did get me into but um also we wanted to just you know surrender to God and declare that God has a purpose in everything and God can take any past and repurpose it to glorify him and so step in my story is really written like a prayer and uh you know to me honestly I hope that listeners who can relate to this story will find the same hope that I found in saying this prayer there are so many things that I want my music to do first of all I wanted to bring joy to people the way that it did for me I want my career journey to inspire people and uh I want it to inspire them to hold on to God's promise to them you know God can do so much more than we can ask or imagine and even in the worst setbacks God is faithful if we continue to move forward in faith and humility I want to be a living testimony of God's faithfulness and remind people we did not come this far just to come this far take a mess I made all my mistakes show me there's a better way I'm a heart that's open wide I need your graise step into my story step my story step my [Music] story let's do our 360 Dee review of today's program Michael Scott had some great advice about being true to yourself and really being stretched where God has placed you we need to always keep in mind that using the gifts God has given us can impact the people around us I also loved hearing about programming that pureflix is developing specifically for men there's not a lot of clean entertainment out there for men and it was refreshing to hear Michael's comments about the power of media to influence people is a great reminder that we can be affected by media and to be careful what we choose to see as entertainment and led into our minds you can go to our website man 360. for more information about Michael and pureflix our quick trip to the Olive Grove in Italy was so much fun I love taking trips like that because it helps put things in perspective when it comes to something as simple as olive oil this helps me appreciate where it came from instead of just picking it up at the grocery store I hope you enjoyed our tips and tricks segment having a travel trailer is definitely fun but it's also important to watch lots of videos on YouTube or segments like this one to help RV vacations become more enjoyable learning from others mistakes or what they've gone through is not just good when it comes to something like camping but also in life I know that some of the best things I learned in life came from asking questions and listening to those older and more experienced than me we should always be mindful of listening to advice and consider how to apply it to our lives you can go to man 3.try exists to help men be complete in every way through Christ mentally physically and spiritually please connect with us on our website Facebook or Instagram and we'll see you next week right here on man 360 Jeremy do you remember that song all of that if you want peace and joy you must ask for it wwy s r n what would y to say right now ww y ysn she would tell us to finish and WW y srn relationship with God and realizing that even though I didn't want to hold on to him in my disease that he was still holding on to me it's a known fact that at some point in life we will all go through a painful circumstance that can be difficult to navigate who we are and what we believe will be tested I know that I didn't really understand who I was until I came to the end of myself and
