Detailed Review of The Grand Hyatt on Kauai
The drive from Lihue airport took about 30 minutes It took me an hour to get a rental car at the airport I recommend a small suv Check in is at 4pm like most hotels here Here we are. The golf course is up ahead past the hotel Valet is $40 a day. Self park is free I need to now put a parking pass on my car The walk takes about 10 minutes from the parking lot The landscape around the hotel is exceptional I recommend dropping your luggage off at the front desk first It is about 80 degrees farenheit Upon arrival I received a lei , courtesy of the hotel fee This is the main lobby, check in is at the right . Concierge on the left Let's walk to the right There are purified water fountains all around the property Nice place to have coffee Art gallery and some shops here ilima terrace breakfast buffet Just a pretty view.The ballrooms are on the right if you're interested in having an event here Let's go to the left of the lobby This is where all the pools are Donderos is a greek restaurant This is the adult pool and bar Let's walk down Hale Nalu bar, they serve burgers and shave ice here This is the regular pool. The salt water pool is more popular Tidepools restaurant. The most expensive restaurant on the hotel
Event here right now This is where the luau is usually This is the saltwater lagoon Let's check out what's on the other side of the pools. This property is massive if you stay on that side of the property you have a much shorter walk to the pool. Compared to this side. This side of the property seems less busy I'll sit here and wait for the sunset Filtered water fountain Sunset is partially blocked but still pretty Red flag means conditions are not suitable for swimming Many locals are still swimming and surfing though These cabanas require a fee for rent This is the public beach called shipwrecks Let's check out my room I could spend a whole day down there I got the partial ocean view with a king bed I am right across from the ice room I get $10 off if I put this tag on my door that says I do not want my room cleaned forgot my room key so the front desk gave me another one and gave me a $25 food voucher ! 5 star hotel with no bathtub Self cleaning toilet Hotel made toiletries. Soaps contain no parabens or sulfates Nice . Fairly standard
65 inch LG tv with all these channels All of the facilities on the property are listed There are many classes available for a fee at the hotel Most classes are either fitness or arts and crafts related hotel map. I am in area R2. As you can see some rooms are super far from the pool Time to grab some dinner at the seaview terrace They were too busy. Waited forever to get seated. Guess I'll go to stevenson's library No reservation needed for bar They only serve sushi and japanese food here Feels like they use to do a different type of cuisine here I got one miso soup and one rainbow roll That was about $50 with tip Sushi was mediocre. I will try to find a local restaurant tomorrow Hotel is fairly quiet for such a large hotel with so many people here 8 am. Noone at the pool I am driving to kukui ula Shopping center.
It is 7 minutes from the hyatt. There are other malls around here but I found this one to be the nicest Lululemon is here. Must be nice. I am going to eat at Living Foods.It is a local restaurant that uses Local ingredients I love how little people there are at this mall There is also a grocery store connected to the restaurant Restaurant is packed with local families I got the daily quiche with local cheese and bacon witha salad Organic carrot juice Delicious Let's check out the grocery store quick Local honey Local kombucha It is about 9:30 pm That's a well known local restaurant. only open for dinner Loca ramen joint upstairs Famouse Merriman's restaurant There is a local farmers market across from this mall Poipu beach is right next to this mall Beach is farther than I thought, I'll turn back. No time today
Check out is at 11. This parrot also comes out around then Hotel room was $500 but the fees were $200 per night so it was $700 per night. Great hotel for a family with children. You will never run out of activities to do. Good hotel for my first trip to Kauai. But I think I will try other hotels around this area.
