DESTINATION ESCAPE - Der Einbruch | Episode 3 /7 |Switzerland Tourism
Our brave heroes had an unpleasant morning at the Schatzalp and had to face crazy Helga in a dark basement. They almost solved the challenge completely. But unfortunately, they let Helga escape and had to pick up her track. The trail led them to a small village church where Helga was once known as Helen.
There they found a cryptex, which they were able to open on the viaduct with the help of her patient file. The note inside described a place called Momò Bellavista, deep in the Ticino region of Switzerland. Unfortunately the idyllic mountain location was hit by a storm and dense fog, while Helga is believed to be somewhere nearby.
You’re here, hmm? Yeah, we made it. You’re here too. Please. I’m here too.
I came as fast as I possibly could. Yes, of course. Did you hear that on the radio? No. On your way here.
Shit. There are eye-witness reports. You understand? She’s here somewhere. Helga. She has to be somewhere in this damned place.
Listen to me. There’s a plan. I came up with something. This demon.
We can only stop it if we know where it is. It has to be near here. Okay? That means we need somebody to stand guard here. Do you understand what I mean? One of you has to find out if she’s still around here. And if yes, call the others to help you right away.
I have a suggestion for you. We all agree whose fault it is that Helga escaped in the first place. The doctor. The doctor? Who left the door open? Oh, that.
Maybe I forgot one little detail. I personally think you have to make it up to the group. To all of us. And a little bit to me. I’d love to. I have a suggestion for you. You spend the night in this hut over here.
Yeah, sure. A cozy little house with a bed and a great view. You can always look out the window.
I really didn’t like the idea all that much and couldn’t really see myself doing that. I’ll be honest, with you in there alone it’ll be a little dangerous. So you should get someone to stay with you. I would suggest that two of you stay here. Yeah, I’d like that a lot. So then I took it like a man and dragged Sabrina into it too.
Sabrina Outdoor, would you like to spend the night with me here? Yeah, very much so. Nice. I don’t know what I’m getting myself into here. At the time we didn’t know one another really well yet. I figured with Sabrina we could probably get paranoid together. Light is definitely a bad choice.
Okay, dark. That’s ok too. As soon as you see her, you should turn off your lights. Can you do that? Yes.
What is the challenge for Niko and me? You two come with me. You’ll go out. We’ll go out together if that should happen. If Helga shows up out here, then we have to go out. Okay? For now, those two are a good bait. Sounds good, right? Do we have to shake hands now, too? Is this a reason to shake hands? Guys, come here.
Yeah, it’s ok to get close. Should we say goodbye? It was really great being with you. I am really, really proud of you. We’ll meet again. No matter what you have to do, please do your best. Okay? What happened during that night...
We expected a lot, but not that. Rustic. We can’t light a candle, but we can build a campfire.
We have chairs, that’s more than what you had in Panama. True. We have to talk things up a little bit. True. I’m a little surprised, that this is actually happening.
I thought our crazy professor is making a little joke. A knee-slapper. But now we’re here, right? I’m really tense, and I think I’m not going to get a wink of sleep tonight. I’m just waiting the entire time to see some sign of Helga.
What our brave participants don’t know is that Helga is already literally long gone and enjoying her freedom in the fresh air. But how do they react to their first physical separation from the group? And will Lukas and Sabrina be able to sleep at all with the expectation that at any moment a crazy woman in a nightgown could show up outside their window? As soon as they have to walk the 40 meters to the outdoor toilet, they will have to face their fears. Leaving the two of them alone was really a strange feeling, because the group was forced to separate for the first time. You think the whole time that something is going to happen. And Annika and I also thought that we had to go back there somehow and help them. Something has to happen, still.
That’s why you can’t sleep peacefully. Even if you’re sleeping in a hotel, you can’t sleep peacefully. That’s why I don’t even want to know how those two were doing the whole time. Ey Lukas, you’re brave. Good morning, everyone. Yes.
Hi. We told ourselves we’d make a really good night of it. We’d sleep in, sleep until you wake us up. You’d probably take forever at breakfast and we could just sleep until 10 today... At 7 o’clock?! We really did sleep until just now. You know something? Up there, there’s a green light.
And in front of it, there was some animal the whole time. That animal made it so the light moved. Kind of a big animal with these... It really looked creepy. At first, we didn’t know that it was an animal. We thought there really were people walking around.
That was an extra spooky factor that you probably didn’t plan on. We just said that if anything had happened, you would have had to pay for our therapy. You could have had me committed. I would have joined Helga. I’ll come down. I was thinking, but I didn’t tell him about it, that maybe there was something installed in here and that maybe she can get in through the chimney. But at some point we did fall asleep.
They are wet. This sucks. We won’t be able to do a lot with our heads today. We still have Annika and Niko. I was about to say. We have two other team members, they can take over today. Well, I’d say let’s get packed up.
And I’m finally going to take a pee. Yeah, I’m really looking forward to that, too. That’ll be so great. Now it’s so light and there’s no thunderstorm.
It’s really nice here, actually. I can really totally understand why people would book something like this. Yes. See those little things there? Horror. I think you can tell there’s a shadow there, right? But it was really four times worse. Because we kept thinking she’d come from above.
We thought she’ll jump at us any moment. Well then, ready for the day. Meanwhile, Niko and Annika are well rested and after a rich breakfast are again united with the other two. A short message from Leopold takes them to Lugano, where they are instructed to go to the LAC.
We arrive in the Italian part of Switzerland. And suddenly everyone speaks only Italian. You see palm trees in Switzerland. The temperature is 30 degrees in the shade. It’s a completely different country. That’s when we realized again how versatile Switzerland is and how much the country has to offer.
I’d like to come here for a vacation. Do we have any kind of clue? The Ticino region is the sunny part of Switzerland and the gateway to southern Europe. The Italian-speaking region is known for its mild climate, palms, beaches and lovely valleys. Since September 2015, the LAC, Lugano Arte e Cultura, has been an impressive platform for contemporary arts in southern Switzerland. Mission Elisabeth Baumann. Team! Isn’t this a wonderful place? Do you see the big museum in front of you? This is the LAC Lugano.
But looks can be deceiving, because the yellow press is claiming that the museum director Elisabeth Baumann has been laundering money through a children’s home and has allegedly buried her savings and the keys to go with it on an island. You should get to the bottom of this. If you really find keys on the island, we may uncover something big. But be on your guard and act inconspicuously. I’ll let you know what that means.
In the backpack I have prepared for you, you’ll find everything you need. Of course the best thing would be a treasure map. But how can you get one? Good luck. Charlie.” Ok, listen up guys. I’ve already been digging in here.
The treasure map is blank so far but I have a hunch. This is the kind of paper that is a little see-through. I bet we have to trace it somewhere. Yes. I hope that the ballpoint pen, that I accidentally stepped on earlier, was not a ballpoint that we need.
I’m sure we have to copy something. I’m sure we’ll find another pen somewhere. Oh boy. Okay, this is getting crazy.
Let’s look in here. Be nice to me. I got a knife. Annika, I was about to tell you how great you look today. I think I have the best tool. I have a wine opener.
Is there going to be drinking around here again today? I think this paper is really all I have. I think I’m knife-less or blind. One of the two, I’m not really sure. I have a map. I have pens.
And I have a Swiss pocketknife. Swiss pocketknife in Switzerland, we were definitely prepared. We have 20 more minutes, so let’s go.
We’re looking for a map... ... that we can trace. Maybe with an island or not. No idea. I’d say we split up, right? We’re all chilled for once, just walking around the square for an hour. No plan. I don’t know if there’s something at the promenade. But I don’t know if we should go that far.
Have you been in there? There’s nothing there. It’s got to be around here somewhere. But maybe we have to go really big... But how far is it confined? Because I think the promenade often has these tourist information places with maps. There was half a map there just now, or am I losing my mind? Yeah! Hey, Niko! Rest! There’s half a map here. But it only shows up really quickly.
But that’s definitely... Ah, there’s the other half. We have two halves of the map. Actually I had thought that day you could forget about me after two, three hours of sleep. But apparently, I was on top form mentally. I was the one who found the map.
You can’t see anything. Fuck. Maybe it’s better on the other side? Probably not really, right? Naw, you can’t see anything. Then let’s do this on the ground. Yes, okay.
Villa Emden anyway. You have to mark north and south and that stuff, too. There was a compass just now.
That’s yours. Okay... But that’s not where Villa Emden is. Why didn’t I see this? Are you drawing that on one now? The other piece of this probably.
Somehow, I don’t really understand his map yet. Mine? No, yours I do, not his. Yeah, I think I accidentally copied down part of his. Then just take a new sheet. That’s yours. Water.
But angled to the top right was north? Yes. And now the sun is shining directly on it. Then you have a building down there.
That’s some kind of fence or something. And then there’s the villa on the other side. Then here’s the villa. And there’s another two houses up there.
There’s basically two islands, too, right? Exactly. But really we’ve got it. And how do we get to the X? Swimming.
Probably swimming. I really feel like swimming. I’d love to swim. In this weather I feel like swimming right now, too. We have to get to Brissago island. The Brissago islands are the landmark of the Ascona-Locarno tourist region. The two idyllic islands are on the Swiss side in the middle of Lago Maggiore.
Thanks to the unique mild climate on Lago Maggiore, the botanical gardens are home to around 1,700 plant species found in the canton of Ticino. To get closer to your goal, you have to break into the surfing teacher’s room and get a key. Do it really discretely, you can’t get caught. Otherwise the mission is over right there. A contact person has left a few things at the staff entrance.
In a white barrel. It’s probably a cleaner’s outfit. Somehow, I can see you doing this. Ok, good, you found the things, right? Yes.
Very good. You have to decide on one person to go on ahead. Somehow, I see you doing this. Me? Yes, because of the navigating, again. That shirt is way too big for me. Anybody can see that’s not mine.
Ah, there’s the map. That’s a size XL. I noticed that too. Come on, you look professional. Alright, Niko, listen to me.
You’re part of the staff. Act like you’re part of the staff. You can’t get caught in there. Do you hear me? I can handle it.
Good. You’ll take several things with you. First a walkie-talkie. And there should be a map in there too. Yes, got it. Very good. That’s the map on how to get to the point where we need you.
There’s a monitor positioned there. There’s a video prepared that describes the way for the other three. Do you hear me? Ah, okay. That’s the terrace where we were just now. Exactly, that’s the terrace where we were.
That’s where we started, right? Yes. Out, through, right. Then down. You go to level 1 and down the stairs.
Then you’re on level 0. Looks like you go back up the stairs. There must be a staff entrance there.
Have fun, you can do it. Okay, we need to see. Good, the other three: you also take a walkie-talkie, okay? We have one.
Good. And the key. Where is it? You got it? Who’s got it now? It should have a three on it. You’ve got it? Yes.
Got it. Good then. Niko should go in first. And you wait outside until he contacts you. Niko will then be able to direct you to the staff dressing room.
With the key you can open an employee locker and take out the work clothing. There is just one teeny-tiny problem. My contact was only able to get two uniforms.
You have to find a way to smuggle the third person in without anybody noticing. Just think of something. There should be a laundry cart there. Or something. Try that. We’ll sneak in.
Can you three do that? Yes. The island only has one large hotel, which is full of guest right now, who have no idea about our adventurers’ mission. So our heroes have to go in while the hotel is operating and try not to be noticed while they fulfill their mission. Alright guys. Hey. Yeah, good luck.
Yes, poker face. We are on the staff. We can prepare ourselves emotionally. I think I’d be good at lying to the workers. I think we look like we work here.
I always managed to sneak into places in computer games. Okay, I’m a really lousy liar, so I’ll be the laundry cart. That’s good. Hello. Okay, guys, I’m in the staff only room.
Wow. Okay. Can you hear me? Yes. Yes, we hear you. What do you see on the monitor? I see a video. I’m going to play it.
That’s a long video. Okay, where are you right now? We’re still standing at the starting point. Okay. Okay, are you listening? You have to walk around the outside of the building. It should be on the lower level or one above it.
And you should find a door with a huge logo on it. Red with a white bar. Yeah, we’re standing in front of that door. Well that fits then. Go in that door please. But we’ll need a key.
Oh, no, the door is open. Well, ok, it was complicated instructions considering we were already in front of that door. But oh well, in the end we walked through it. Okay, we’re inside. Straight ahead, right, past a handrail.
Got it. Okay, then you should be in the hallway. And you turn 90 degrees to the left.
It’s a white hallway. Yeah, got that too. Keep going please until you see a door on your right with three windows in it. Yeah, we’re there.
Man, you’re fast! There you turn 90 degrees to the right and move forward. There should be a blue shelf on your left. Yes, we’re there. Okay, did you go right at the blue shelf? Yeah, we see the cart. Do you see the lockers? Yeah, we see them too.
Then change into the uniforms. Oh, there’s our things. Okay. Oh, they are aprons, we are cooks. Yes.
We have a key here too. Snazzy. I feel so Scottish. Okay, cool. With the hiking boots. Who cares, nobody looks at the shoes? Hey, I feel totally inconspicuous.
And you have to get in the cart. I’ll get in the cart, yes. Okay. But please watch over me. We’ll push you very carefully. Do you want to take the key? Yes.
Okay. Yeah, all good. Will you let me know when you’re ready? Yes. Okay, we’re ready.
Cover me up. Okay. Where do we need to go? You go back. When you’re standing in front of the blue shelf, you go left. If you look straight ahead you’ll see a door, that is marked as an emergency exit. Yes.
Yeah, okay, got it. When you’ve opened the door, go to the first door on your right. Are you in front of an elevator? Question. Yeah, we’re at the elevator.
Then you need to take the elevator up. To the third floor. Third floor.
Oh, this is tight. Want to tell me where we need to go, because we’re noticeable with this walkie-talkie? Okay, right and then immediately to the left. You’ll walk past an orange wall. Then you go all the way down the hall, or almost all the way, to the second-to-last room. It should be number 6. And go in that door please.
That was definitely one of the first moments where the reality and the fiction sort of blurred together for me. Where you didn’t really know anymore, what world you’re in at that moment. Because the guests didn’t know anything about what was going on there. I felt pretty much like a burglar. Room Service.
We’ve come to change the sheets. Okay. Sabrina, somebody’s in the shower. We have to be quiet. Okay, okay. There is somebody in the room, you have to tell me exactly what I have to do.
Are you all in the room? Somebody’s in the room, what do we have to do? Okay, err... You definitely have to find the key in the room. Okay.
We’re going to break into there now. And that’s what we did. Okay.
What do we do? Sabrina. Come out of there. We’re looking for a key. We have to be really quiet.
We have to look for a key. There’s someone in the room. Okay. Leave it open, leave it open. Okay, we have the key.
Okay, let’s meet on the terrace. For heaven’s sake. Oh, dude. That’s the room key.
Wait, wait, wait. Okay, get out quick. Come, come, come, come. Shit. Quick, quick, quick. Good.
Okay, everybody take your backpack. Good work, guys. Out, out, out.
Okay. But you were fast. Every time I said, “You have to...,” you said, “We’re already there.” Okay. Well then.
Leopold, can you hear us? Nice to finally hear from you. Do you have the key? Did anybody notice you? We have the key, nobody noticed us. Very good. Near the big sun terrace there should be a sun dial. He just said, you’ll find everything under it. No idea what he meant, but just find out.
Alright. Other side. Good, then let’s get going. Let's go. He’s gone to sleep again already.
Good. Okay, now, let’s be serious: who knows what a sundial looks like? We thought, we were really convinced that we found the sundial. Until we asked a guest, and he said that’s not a sun dial. That was embarrassing. Look, what is this here for example? What is that over there? That’s a shed.
What is that up there? That’s a playground, right? Oh, ok, we need to go down there. Sometimes they’re on walls too. Did we ask him whether the sun dial is a statue? Now this really is a sun dial. It looks like... yeah. That’s a sun dial. Okay. Sabrina!
They found it. Alright, yeah. I think without the help of our Swiss friends we would have been pretty lost. But then luckily we found the sun dial and our next clue.
We had to get to the basement. There’s Niko. I’d try them here first.
Which one, that’s the question. Try them all. Oh. I think... Of course, the last one. I’m afraid I’ll break off the key.
It’s really stuck. Man, I’m afraid it’s going to break off too. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay.
Really cool, how awesome. Okay, we’re inside. Hello? I’ll go outside to make the call. Can you hear me? Yes, hello, can you hear me? Yeah, we’re in the boiler room.
What are we supposed do there? You have to get to the other island somehow. Is something in there? Yeah, we need something we can use to swim, paddle over there. But there’s nothing here for paddling.
Anything for swimming? Flippers. Neoprene suit. There’s nothing in that corner either. Can I climb on here? Or a helicopter. Can you hold on to me, in case I fall? But are we in the right shed? Or is there another one here with a lock like that? Should we try the other one? Does it have a lock like this too? Let’s check.
Yes. Ah, a SUP! Now it makes more sense. Two. Yes.
Alright, thanks, we have something. We’re going over there. Ah, two SUPs.
That’s going to be a wobbly business. It’s ok if you sit. We have to double up. Two, two. Yes. And go! Off we go? Where’s a good place to land? Yeah, well, we... So, Sabrina lost the map.
Hold on now, do we really not have a map anymore? The thing is, we still have your sketches. And I still had a small... Oh, you have it.
Oh, sure, but blame me first. I put it in your hand. Guys, I’ve got it. Boy oh boy.
Everything is ok. The drama is real. We’ll start about here. And instead of taking a shortcut here... We can see if we can land there somewhere. But I think that’ll be difficult.
Then we really have to get all the way around once. All the way around once? Yes, that does make sense, because we have... If the current comes from there, we even have to go around that way. Yes. I don’t know if he just felt like paddling for a while.
But I wouldn’t have thought of that in a million years, to swim once around that island. What for? For God’s sake. Yeah, that’s too heavy.
Are we sinking? We’re sinking halfway, but not all the way. My butt is wet. Hi, boys. Well? Ahh, thorns.
We ran around there all day in the blazing heat, solved a bunch of puzzles, only to find out in the end that the goal is really 20 meters away on the other side of the island. If I’d known that, I would have just swum over there, probably. We almost sank. Yeah, I saw that.
We were a little heavy. I think on the way back we have to split up. The way we split up, in hindsight, needed improvement. We tried to split it up mathematically and thought it would make sense if two people of similar weight balanced one another out. Then we didn’t expect that the board would possibly sink at some point. Are you completely wet? Yeah, but in the end what counts is that we made it.
Very good. And not that I’m completely wet. The trip is the destination. And now I’ll put my stinky socks back on.
There you see again that Lukas, he didn’t care at all that he was wet. He never complained or said anything. When it came to a challenge, when it was about us having to achieve something, he didn’t care about anything. We made it, just a little wet, a little tired.
At the shore I got all scratched up. So, that was a little annoying. Oh, I’m so dumb. How can I be so stupid? I put my sock foot in the water.
Hell with that, we kept going. Okay, should we look at the map? We came from here... Just straight across like that. ... directly across. Yes.
So the treasure must be up here in this area. There’s all these ribbons here. Yeah, ribbons.
Do we maybe have to follow the ribbons? Well, according to the map the way we drew it, it’s more in the middle. Not out near the edge. So go further in? Yeah, further in and more toward the middle. Okay.
And who says that the treasure is buried? It could be anywhere. I’m slicing my legs up out here. Wound! I really don’t like this tall grass right now.
I’m blind, you shouldn’t give me the challenge anyway. I walked past stuff twice already. No.
Hey, Annika. Box in a tree. Well sure, I’m in the wrong place again.
Box in the tree. Oh no, we really have to count the ribbons. We have to go gather the ribbons.
Ok, so again... We can split up, right? Let’s assign everyone a color. It’s all about how many ribbons there are. So, if we just collect them... How many do we have? 1, 2, 3, 4.
Okay. One takes two, and the rest each take one. Do you have a favorite color? Blue. Green.
Orange. Red would suit you. Then I’ll take red, doesn’t matter.
I haven’t seen any yellow ones. I’ve seen a red one, I think, back there. Then I’ll collect blue and purple. You’re taking two? You’re taking yellow, right? If yellow turns out to be zero, I’ll be pissed off. I’ll take green.
Okay. But does it make sense like this? We could also divide into the four directions and take anything we find. That would really make more sense. Or else we all run once around the entire island. Can you assign it and then remember it? Let’s pull them off and collect them here.
We just have to collect everything we find. That was a good objection, Annika. Yes. I didn’t even think that far. That’s what I figured.
We’ll just take everything. Then I’m going to die from that damn grass again. Whoever gets the most first. Okay. I don’t see any more.
I don’t either. Should we start sorting? Yes. One, two, three.
Where’s Niko? Is he still searching? I think so. There’s another green one on the bench. True. The island wasn’t very big, but the ribbons were well hidden. But you have to say, it looks like he found the most, right? Okay. Which do you want to count? Please count quietly, thank you.
Well, if I’m not totally lost, green is seven. So is purple. Yellow two. And red four. So seven, two white.
Now I forgot my number. Count again. Blue? Six blue. No. No! But did you have two for yellow the whole time? Yes. Okay. Make it three. Okay, I think we better go searching again.
Then that takes us to eight here. Yeeeah! Ah, there are the keys! Key! Yes! Amazing. Yeah, great. Should we tell Leo, maybe? Do you have the walkie-talkie? Mayday, Mayday.
How did it go? Did you find the box, and did you get it open? We found the keys, we got the box open. Congratulations, you made it. Thank you! ... conquered this nasty character. What? I didn’t understand that acoustically. Again please. ...another rich ...conquered. Yeah, something about “rich”.
We conquered him. Oh, okay. Good thing, anyway. Yay! Cool! There’s a house in the church. That’s where we’re sleeping? On the floor? Somehow, I don’t really trust Leo.
Yeah, nice. That’s such a cool ruin. How about we break into the villa again? Why are you laughing? I bet they have a sauna. It was a surprise, that we would spend the night there. But it was a nice surprise. That was the first time we could all relax a little.
We could talk about other things that evening. A little more personal. And I think that was when we first came together as a team.
