Deep into the jungle with the headhunters of Borneo (Unbelievable!)
all right so after a six and a half hour van ride we have made it to the place with all the stuff where we are about to do the thing i'm tired okay let's go i'm gonna make it hello yeah we're here i tell you what guys i just want to be honest the six and a half hour drive to the longhouse had me wondering what's longer the drive or the house but one hour in that boat and i am rejuvenated refreshed and re-vitalized so the lake is actually a man-made lake which is why visually it sort of reminds me of lake kenya in taranganu but it's like lake kenya in a jungle so what's amazing is there are something like 10 or 15 longhouses on the lake and so i sort of assumed that each long house came together in some sort of village situation but in reality each long house is a village so the entire concept of these long houses are you put dozens and dozens if not hundreds and hundreds of families together and they all live under one roof so that if any enemy tribes come head hunting or starting war you don't have to go fetch your soldiers because they're all already right here now to be clear ivan and i are not deep in the borneo jungle and we are not going to be part of any tribal warfare because this is a tourist attraction but the culture and the tradition still lives on so this particular longhouse has a chief hopefully who we can meet as well as it is the site of a long house for uh a long long time it's not just a tourist attraction it is a legitimate long house that has been converted into a tourist attraction so with that let's go check in to our room and see what we can see at the ebon longhouse i am super duper excited for this super duper excited super cool oh my gosh i'm like exactly exactly the ibon longhouse ebon longhouse let's go see what's inside oh yeah smoke fish smoked fish looks good actually look yeah it looks good hello so careful don't fall through the floor first things bruce uh this whole structure here is the long house you can see how long it is and this is just our viewpoint from here so uh quite literally a long house and so the key phrase oh artwork maybe even souvenirs for sale nice right yeah very nice spears slow torch you made it oh rebel good job great job so guys the key phrase in the longhouse is barapa pintu which means how many doors because each door has is indicates a new family so in this particular longhouse it's 37. so 37 families here would mean hundreds and hundreds of people i would have to say the list of family ah uh sorry 36. i asked the guide he might have accidentally exaggerated by one 36 families so in total there are 161 people is it right from 2020. so might be more now 161 people in 36 families this is something special no problem no problem when i was that age i was shy too hello the best wow they're so welcoming the best this is something special this is something special this is something special man mind blown already yeah yeah right already like so much hola hello i'm saying all that for looking i feel like i'm in spain welcome hello welcome thank you what's your name my name is lupus group okay are you the chief no you're the chief what are you chief uh i come from spaya awesome okay you have tattoos yes you make yourself no no no my friend okay we see you thank you okay thank you thank you boom nice guy the best so uh important to note that 36 families legitimately live here this is not a tourist attraction this is not built for uh people who spend money and come family like they're cooking they're living here this is where they live they're doing well i guess i'm saying hola but uh anyway so this is as authentic as it can get i would say as authentic as you're gonna find we're staying at the last house right here the last one so oh that's why they said that that's why they said barapa pinta 37 yeah because one door is for the tourists 36 families and the 37th one is for the tourists right right catfish okay let's uh let's check out our room uh i was told left side is for me this would be our other friends everybody checking in feels good it feels hot right good they're good it's right she's right she's right so we'll stay here tonight absolutely great hello the best all right let's uh let's see what this experience has in store for us not sure what we're gonna do today but already five star let's be clear six star must do in sarawak okay let's see where we go next canada canada oh what what you smoke cigarettes it's a tobacco looks interesting it's uh what's what's the what's the leaf okay so your drink one go finish wow strong wow yes monkey monkey no people no people no animals i don't know anyone no no head hunting anywhere oh yeah nice guys not fighting all right this is the best ever this is best ever yeah our first day and it's amazing i mean i'm never gonna leave this seat right here i'm gonna smoke 75. one time ago one time

out to those guys and can you believe that guy's 71 years old looks like he's 51 or maybe 41. organic food which we're about to eat i think so let's go eat some organic food and uh and decrease my boldness decrease my aging with the organic food let's go maybe you'll grow hair oh no you look good vault let's go my favorite burns love it let's eat these are straight up stephen them foods are steaming boys which i believe is this fella here in the blue cheers the people that lives in the longhouse we are gathering here together sitting in a circle and someone is playing music now oh wow somehow i got the hat i don't even know how it happened 71 years old so that was really really something special and we really loved it although my feeling is those boys are going to party all night long yeah and so our idea was to sneak away as the ending ceremonies of the dance party was going they're still going to dance all night listen at one point our tour guide kevin who you met earlier he was dancing and then after that i don't even know what happened but hey buddy okay okay but then after that all of a sudden i was wearing a hat and i was dancing one thing leads to another in a long house that's true that's what we learned about i think it never ends i think it might be a long night in a long house especially after we say oh how which i learned is to call the spirit to bless them with good harvest and to party with them basically oh so cheers actually means uh calling the dead or calling the spirits to enjoy the party with the the live people to bless the party boom there you have it guys so right now we are heading down the dark dark hallway of the longhouse back to our room uh we do have another video coming tomorrow from the longhouse we will be doing a jungle trek and also meeting more people and talking to them yes this it seems like if you come here the experience is rich because of the people yeah so we will be meeting more people yes so we have been to a long house before in sabah but it's this experience here in sarawak is completely different here in the iban longhouse because people actually lives here this is a community this is a whole village right here exactly the one we did in sabo was more of a tourist attraction this one is a legitimate longhouse where they have also added a tourist attraction in the long house anyway my point is this check out our video log coming in a few days because we will have another vlog coming as we walk in the dark uh from the long house shout out to everybody here who's very friendly we literally had to sneak away because they were like hey later we drink later we drink i'm like and i'm like bro man i'm already been drinking i'm i'm good i'm good for the night so home like in one piece here this this feels like we're walking one kilometer outside of the house and we're still inside the house we didn't leave our house and yet we're too drunk to get home you know this is a long house it's pretty long oh
