Chithradurga Fort People in the city have constructed the houses in the Seven round fortress First round of fortress door is called as "Rangayyana Baagilu (Rangayyana Door)" Second round of fortress door is called as "Gaare Baagilu (Mortar Door)" "Rangayyana Baagilu (Rangayyana Door)" was originated from the Neerthadi Ranganatha swamy, Davanagere Chithradurga nayaka's devotee to Neerthadi ranganatha swamy "Rangayyana Baagilu (Rangayyana Door)" is near District hospital chithradurga Second round of fortress door is called as "Gaare Baagilu (Mortar Door)", Door was constructed using Mortar Now we are already in the third round fortress this is the entrance for the third round fortress we can see the snake carving the fortress entrance Fort was built in the shape of snake, no direct entry in the entire fortress it's a zigzag way we can see "Kumba Kalasa" after the snake carving that is the sign to welcome the guests Ganapathi is the god, who nayaka's were worshiped we can see a dog carving next to it that indicates, soldiers are loyal to the nayaka's we can also see The vision doll as well There is Elephant water tank near the gates Nayaka's are Basava Ling worshipers, Things that are divine "Gandaberunda" Hyder ali's Logo Garundaajaneya Nayaka's Logo Decorative pictures to make fort beautiful those are the Decorative pictures first 2 rounds of the fortress is already acquired during the city improvement this is the third round of the 7 round fortress door name is "Kaamana Baagilu" also known as "Huli Mukhada baagilu" In 1568, Matthi Thimmanna Nayaka Laid the foundation stones to build this door He belongs to "Kaamagethi" family and door name was originated from the "Kaamagethi" family name Big door's were opened only for king's and elephants. small door is for the soldiers and people's use Door name also known as "Huli Mukhada baagilu" Paalegara's (Nayaka's) ruling time is between 1568 - 1779 Around 211 years taken to build this fort Madakari Nayaka's name is the famous nowadays Hyder Ali and tippu Sulthan ruled around 20 years fort was also under the British and mysore maharaja's In 1956 state Karnataka formed and 1976 comes under the government of India, Central government Oil was collected from the formers Honga oil, Flaxseed oil, Neem oil and Sesame oil was collected here Mixed oil was stocked and stored in the big tank, in small tank oil was stored for daily usage Electric power was distributed to public in 1902, from shivana samudra Oil was collected from formers and stored in these 2 tanks Honga oil, Flaxseed oil, Neem oil and Sesame Big tank has 9 feet depth & 11 feet long Small tank is around 3 feet depth individual tanks were carved using the singles stones for 9 and 3 feet depth this cave is for the watch man solider this cave is dedicated to watch wan solider, who was living and staying here to watch the oil tank we can see 2 line's of carving on the stone, to make sure rain water to fall away from the cave entrance there is a hole to fix the Claw In 1765, For the first time Hyder Ali attacked this fort. Enemies from the down cant see the soldier who is hiding above pore are used to aim the enemies using the guns Prehistoric, this place is the existing probably from 4 - 5 century there were a houses constructed over here, but all those gone now. we can see a deer, tiger carvings on this rock, people were hunting animals for living (I couldn't see, need to observe closely) this is the sixth round of the 7 round fortress door name is Kasthuri rangappa nayaka door aka "taaku teekina" (beautiful) door Door was made with hindu -Muslim style of architecture aka indo-saracenic architecture door For king's and elephants, big door was supposed to be opened Small door was supposed to open for soldiers and public Big Door is called with name "Hebbagilu" in kannada language Small door would be calling with name "Diddi Baagilu" in kannada language small empty portion in the wall's are to lit the oil lamp Oil for lamps were borrowed from the oil storage tank. a imaginary animal carved on stone in english its known as dragon in kannada, its known as "yaali" or animal from china it's having elephant trunk, lion's Head, human body, horse legs, dog's tail this is a imaginary animal carved on stone we can 2 fish's facing each other carving on the other side of the door this means there is a water source available near to this door if it's a single fish carving, that means, there is a path (way) near to this current location this is to understand the fort since majority of the people uneducated that time these carving's are the indication of the route (new place has been identified and track construction is in progress) (As of now this place is not disclosed to tourist) (i will show that place during my day 2 exploring) Ekanatheshvari paadagalu (Ekanaatheshvari Feet) Before these feet were inside ekanaatheshwari temple elderly people won't be to reach the temple by walk so to help them these feet are installed here worshiped on Friday and Tuesday Hucchangi yellamma and ekanaatheshvari are the The home god of nayaka family during the war time and during the functions without missing king's were supposed worship these feet from here that's these feet called with the name "Ekanaatheshwari paadagalu" Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple is in front of us Elephant rock is behind the temple Ganapathi idol is created naturally over the elephant shaped rock that is the reason to call the temple with name varasiddi vinayaka swamy temple before visiting the elephant rock, let's to gym room this is called with name cutting edge was also with names giridurga, vanadurga, jaladurga, perumalaipura, Bommathanur, chimmathanur, chinmlaadri nagara because of these kind of tones During dhwapara yuga chithradurga was also called with name Hidimba Pattana Farookbad was the name during the hyder ali times Chitaldurg was name during British era During vijayanaga time bommathanur during kadamba time, chithradurga was called with soolagalllu chithra durga name was originated because of these verity of image like a rocks now we approaching ekanaatheshvari door name was originated because, there is a ekanaatheshwari temple next visited the thirupathi during the same time he took 13 member to hampi and trained them & gave a solider job after the battle of thaalikote, ramaraya son inlaw of krishnadevaraya died in the battle of thaailkote against bahamani sultans later that even 13 people came to chithradurga and started ruling like independent kings on above hill there is a ghee pond on the peak point ghee pond was used to paalegaara's time, depth of the well was 32 feet now we can see 10 feet depth These walls were constructed by mixing Sludge mud, Clay, Millet porridge pot Slices, Paddy grass, Millet grass fort was constructed during the 15th century now we are in 21st century soil has more age than the cement these walls still standing strong even after 600 years In melukote we can see akka thangi (Sister's pond) In hampi akka thangi kallu (sister's stone) In chitradurga, these are akka thangi honda (sister's pond) these 2 ponds were used for drinking water purpose during war between hyder ali and madakari nayaka, Hyder ali had more soilders, horses and elephants madhakari nayaka had less army when madakari nayaka lost and captured by hyder ali his wives jumped in to these ponds and lost the lives padmamma nagathi jumped this side of the pond & bangaramma nagathi jumped other side of the pond information is not sure that hill is called as chola gudda (cholla hill) chola's are used live there and named originated from them now government has made layout for public front fort has 7 door's this is the door with name obamma nagathi door obamma nagathi was a queen and her husband died in early days She adopts a child from a jaanukal village near hosadurga taluk his name was chittappa nayaka son of thodalu baramappa nayaka later he sits on the throne at age of 13 started ruling at age of 20, to make him strong his hands were washed in blood at age of 21, he went to delhi since delhi sulnate invited him he tamed a wild elephant in delhi and got a name madhakari (wild elephant) that's why the name madhakari nayaka we can see The vision doll over here and also we can see a two fishes facing each other for the new house like we install the vision doll, same way the vision doll installed over here name is lajje Gowri two fishes mean, there is a water source near to this place this the place where obavva came here to bring water for his husband when he was having the lunch this is not sure, but people call this as obavva grave every year, obavva relatives will come here and worship this grave as remembering her water come's from akka thangi honda (sister's pond) during rainy day's water flow is more and in summer it's less Obavva came her to bring water when her husband was having lunch this place name is thaneeru doni (cold water boat) that's the watch tower for watchman solider to watch for enemies obavva's husband name was mudda hanumayya that is the obavva home living under the stone cave that is the anjaneya temple obavva and her husband was worshipping next to it, that is the back door of the fort called with name hanumana baagilu (hanumana door) government has closed this door to avoid illegal entries without ticket This is the obavva kindi, where hydar ali soldier's entered the fort to attack on chithradurga (some disturbance and too many people now) (will show clearly on day 2 tour) on day 2, i started exploring alone now i am going towards banashankari temple & gun powder machine there is a small temple named banashankari temple i reached the banashankari temple so next is maddu beesuva kallu, meaning gun powder machine we have to go back in the same route for other points we reached maddu beesuva kallu, meaning gun powder machine there are four stones used to prepare the gun powder for artilleries using these steps, we can go down as well this is the central position of the machine from here all four stone machines might have been connected to prepare the gun powder there are two entrances, now i am in second entrance and going up here you can see 2 entrances, that is first and this is second one these are the Mortar preparation stones we can see the board mentioning the same now i am going towards onti kallu basavanna (single stone bull) and bandikhane (jail) reached single stone bull temple, you can see the small temple over there will show in detail in close up shots we can see a lamp pole to lit the oil lamp to reach the bull idol we can see the steps after single stone bull temple, i am walking towards bandikaane (Jail building) we can see a entrance door to reach the jail building and the route to reach the jail building we can see a watch tower as well another door entrance before reaching the jail building another door entrance before reaching the jail building may be we can also visit the watch tower as well as we can see the steps to reach the watch tower before reaching the watch tower, we can see a door not sure, where it lead to let's go and see it seems like a jungle here, nothing much heading back now walking towards the watch tower again i saw another door, before going towards watch tower let's see what would be here might be another watch tower steps are made to go down the doors nothing much here, all i can see is a reconstructed watch tower and a pond to restrict the enemies let's head towards main watch tower i reached the steps which are made to reach the watch tower walking on the steps to reach the watch tower we can see a artillery on the right side of the path, before reaching the watch tower wondering how this was moved to this point, it's very heavy and hard we can see a gate at the entrance of the watch tower you can see another artillery over here you can see a chithradurga city with all wind mills as well you can see a holes in the walls which are made to keep the gun and defend the fort solider were put gun while fighting with enemies gate is open, let's get in the and see the jail and watch tower here small shelter were made for the soldiers' we can also see a carvings to indicate this is a watch tower here we can see a jail cells right now it's locked, we have to see from outside this is the watch tower's highest position and full view of it let's walk around the watch tower in detail you can see a hole here, that made to keep the oil lamps for the vision at night this is the resting area for a soldier who was watching here on shift wise there are two resting bunkers for soldier, we saw the 1st one this is the second one, locked and can't go inside it from here also we can see the chithra durga city from top view there are steps to go over the jail as well i assume, you can see, i walked from that door walked along the way to reach this door then the jail let's go anther place inside the fort there is a view point here, let's go and check that was the place, from where we started walking towards we walked inside this door and tuned left to see this view point now again going inside and following this newly constructed tracks to view the bicchigatthi baramanna nayaka grave we saw a view point over there and now we have to walk towards this side on the left, there is another view point, let's go and check Yes it's another view point that was door we walked in to the fort heading left from here so we came here from this side not sure, where we need to go from this place i heard, grave of bicchugatthi baramanna nayaka is over here, but not sure, where it is let's walk further and see if there is anything i can find we can see a pond made for the protection of the fort what i am guessing is there is a cave under those big stones that would be the grave (random guessing) not sure, what is there next this information is not 100 percent sure some where i heard, grave of bicchugatthi baramanna nayaka over here i couldn't find it. i am walking back to view another location i am guessing it would be under these caves. if any one aware, please do comment the exact place of the grave
that is another view point, for soldiers it was a watch tower now we are at ekanaatheshwari temple now going towards hidimbeshwara temple, old murughamata & sampige siddeshwara temple before that, we can see a building over here, let's go and check It seems to be a gym with small door, almost in bad state there is another view point or a watch tower over here that was the place we walked now walking towards hidimbeshwara temple, old murughamata & sampige siddeshwara temple first i will go to a hidimbeshwara temple that was the door we walked in now i am climbing towards the hidimbeshwara temple this one is the second door of the hidimbeshwara temple that was the first entrance door so this the hidimbeshwara temple going inside the temple very cold inside we can see 2 inscription stones over here three doors for this temple two on the sides and one is in the front we can see the aerial view of the gym building that side we have a administration block, obaava kindi etc chithradurga was called with name "Hidimba pattan" in dwapara yuga paandava's visited this place and met a hidimba rakshasa so the name hidimba pattana after hidimbeshwara temple, now i am walking towards Murgha Mata let's walk towards murugha rajendra mata this is uyyale piller those are the walls of the murugha mata if we go that side, we will reach obavva kindi akka thangi pond & administration block another lamp pole over here, we can see in front of muruga mata as well thuppada kola (ghee pond) is on this side we can see, it's written on the board "Old Murugha Mata" muruga mata veranda i am asking whether sampige siddeshwara temple is opened ? let's go inside to see, how does muruga mata inside now i am side the murugha rajendra mata we can see a hall, but it's locked and can't go inside that was the door i entered the muruga mata and walked around all way tp reach this entrance from here on the left, we can see another room kind of section, seems to ba stuck door this was seems to be a bathroom Now i am walking out of the murugha mata now i came outside of muruga mata now i will go towards palace area on the left after that will come and visit the sampige siddeshwara temple & ghee pond on this side i am going towards palace area you can see wall made of Mortar these holes were made on the rock for the grip to horse, so horse can walk easily on this rock walking towards palace we can see the walls here almost in bad state palace has been almost got destroyed, only stone and mortar wall is available now i am walking back towards sampige siddeshwara temple this was the old technique to cut the rock during 600 years back Holes were made to keep the wooden sticks with firel later using the hammer or any different tool will cut the rock this is remaining palace walls and inside area it's been already in bad state wall made of mortar is remaining now Shami Tree is over there, let's go and see we can see heritage wall's foundation here as well Going inside the Sampige siddeshwara temple There is nandhi idol inside solider carving over there Sampige siddeshwara temple, Meludurga Small temples over here No idol here, it's a empty temple this is the stage where all the nayaka's Coronation happened starting from matthi thimmanna nayaka to madakari nayaka Bukka raya, who was the founder of the vijaya nagara empire his idol is inside the siddeshwara temple his name is mentioned in the rock inscription inside the siddeshwara temple we can see his name in the 5th line of the rock inscription over here, written as bukkaraaya we can also his name bukkaraaya in the 2nd rock inscription as well mallinaatha nayaka, under bukkaraya, we can also his name in the inscription these 2 inscriptions were Given write by Bukkaraaya availabe inside the sampige siddehswara temple i thought this was the idol of the bukkaraya later prist said that., this is daksha bramha idol we can see idol's of parvathi devi, nandhi and sampige siddeshwara this is vighneshwars, dwara palakaru and this is the veerabhadra Swamy idol On the beside the muruga mata wall, we can see small path, which will lead to another peak of the chithra durga hill where we can see ghee pond and watch tower i am trying to reach that point, not possible to record during climb Now i am in the peak point of the chithra durga fort we can see big watch tower here this is the ghee pond, where all the weapons were used stock here, to avoid corrosion let's go over the watch tower with slipper, you can climb, better to use the shoe or bare legs have to climb like a frog it was not possible to record when climbing here we can see a mantapa we can see many peak points and watch towers from this peak point fully surrounded by a watch towers, to guard the fort we can see palace Complex from here, like small tent's and houses we can see a secret down stair over here looks like a cave with steps and assuming this leads to chandravalli caves may be a secret route from here to chandravalli cave king's were used to travel in this route and escape from enemies there was a closed gate in the chandravalli caves, (video is coming soon) guide said, it is restricted to go inside there it was very difficult to climb and lost over there didn't found the path to go down some one helped to to find the correct path to come down so i have walk this way, it's very slippery since water is flown for long day's we can see a path here from the peak point, se walked down on the sides of the wall walking towards obavvana kindi very crowded and noisy in the day 1 visit this is the back door of the fort and governament has closed it intentionally to restrict the illegal entry to the fort without ticket Cave which you are seeing is the obavva's home and this is the Veeranjuneya temple this is onake obavvana kindi
