Hi everyone, we’re headed to Japan this week! I’m travelling there for about a month this time I had this trip planned even before I left Japan I’ll be in Tokyo for a few weeks then will also be travelling to other parts of Japan it’s already been about 6 months since I left Japan so I’m excited to go back and off we go! the entertainment on Korean Air is so good and here’s my inflight meal I ended up watching the Japanese move ‘Monster’ the cinematography and the music was so beautiful landing in a rainy Tokyo it feels a bit odd to be back like I’ve been gone for a long time, but also feels like I never left at all first we’ll go check in at my accommodation I’ll be staying at this apartment provided by ‘Weave Place’ they have fully furnished apartments like this all across Tokyo this particular apartment is located in Ryogoku which was super convenient to travel around the city it even has a dish washer! you can stay at these apartments from a minimum of 1 month their rent is all-inclusive rent which means you don’t need to worry about key money or guarantor fee if you’re traveling in Tokyo I think this is a great way to experience what it’s like to live like a local i’ll leave all the details in the description for anyone that is interested now let’s go do some groceries! I really missed grocery shopping Japan! I realised it’s the really random things you miss like your favourite brand of milk I also wanted to get some quick things for dinner this octopus broccoli salad is so good and also something for dessert now that I’ve left Japan, I feel like groceries are quite cheap here all this food came about to about ¥5,000 (31 USD) maybe it feels that way because of the conversion rate having a feast of all my favourites good morning from Tokyo the weather seems to have cleared up today making my favourite natto cheese toast now it really feels like I’m back in Japan it’s so nice to have a full kitchen when you’re travelling enjoying a nice slow breakfast at hom now let’s go explore the city! having lived in Tokyo for 4 years, I actually haven’t explored much of the city I feel like I always just go to the same places so I want to explore the lesser known neighbourhoods here we’re in the residential neighbourhood of Nezu this is a 70-year-old bathhouse that was turned into a cafe you can see traces of the bathhouse left over lately obsessed with matcha lattes love how refreshing it is on a hot day the back alleys here have so much charm they’re lined with houses and small shops found this cute one selling ceramics my love for tiny houses how beautiful is this florist shop someone lost their keys this shrine is super popular during azalea season seems like I just missed it but these are all azaleas but even off season you can also see these beautiful torii gates think this is such a underrated shrine in Tokyo now time to grab some dinner Nezu is only a short walk from Ueno I came at around 5 and the line wasn’t that long a lot of people say Ichiran is overrated but I actually quite like their ramen this is my usual order I think ramen and sushi are the foods I missed the most from Japan so good I decided to walk home from Asakura which is about 15 min to my apartment the weather is perfect for walking and this sunset late night snack I thought this would go so well with strawberries decided to finally watch Barbie this tasted exactly like a strawberry shortcake definately recommend giving it a try if you visit 7/11 we’re going to do some cafe hopping today I was surprised to see so many coffee shops in this area I used to live on the other side of Tokyo so I never came to this area I got the latte and a slice of carrot cake the coffee was tasty but could have done with one more shot but the carrot cake was absolutely delicious off to your next cafe the coffee changes everyday depending on what they are roasting the one they had today was quite acidic catching up on some editing and also planning the rest of my trip we’re at this traditional sukiyaki restaurant the atmosphere is so cosy the meal is served with the stone pot rice the rice was so fluffy the lunch meal was only ¥1,500 such a good bargain the meat was so sweet and savory, perfect with the rice we’re at 7/11 again to get some breakfast of course I had to get my favourite egg sandwich also really like this tomato pasta soup I like to add some cheese to the soup how is the egg sandwich so good in Japan going to catch up with some work and meet with a friend for dinner later we’re going a monjayaki place in Ueno it’s actually my first time trying monjayaki they automatically cook you this omelette when you sit down this alone was already so delicious we ordered the mentaiko and mochi monjayaki so glad they cook everything for us It doesn’t look that great... but it was absolutely delicious! we ended up ordering another one the squid ink was my favourite going on a walk to digest just in time to see the sunset at Ueno park we’re headed to do some shopping today there’s a few things I want to stock up on while I’m here these cooling body wipes are so good for summer this hyaluronic acid lotion is so cheap but good this helps with any hair fly aways this works the best for indigestion or stomach aches and these insect repellent stickers are a must for summer lunch is tomato ramen if you’ve never triedtomato ramen I highly recommend it it’s like a mix between pasta and ramen I ordered the spicy version which it always so good needed a little pick me up and back to shopping I also wanted to buy some things for my house Japan has some really good interior shops the lamp I really wanted was sold out but it was still fun to look around the store seeing what’s trending in Japan now these lipsticks are super long lasting and moisturising at the same time (I grabbed a few shades) my favourite eye liner this hair mist smells so good now meeting up with some friends for dinner feeling a bit nostalgic on the train I always used to ride home I think once you’ve lived aboard you’ll always miss a bit of the cities that you lived in dinner is pizza how good does this look headed to another coffee shop in my neighbourhood the cafe is small but all the beans are roasted in house I got the Ethiopian blend and this was a good coffee there were only a couple of locals also quietly enjoying their coffee I’m headed to check out a flea market near Shinjuku this market is only held once a year in May and sells all sorts of knick knack from jewellery, clothes to plates saw some really cute and interesting items there was also a whole section with Japanese goods I really wish I got some of these matcha cups! I didn’t want to carry them around the rest of my trip but how cute are these back in Asakusa for the big festival happening today I thought it would be too early to see any festivals this year but Sanja festival is the first of the festivals to start off for the year I’m glad I still got to experience a bit of the summer festival vibes althought the summers in Japan are painfully hot and humid I love the festive atmosphere time to eat some street food I always wanted to try this grilled fish not sure if I’m eating it right but it was super tasty we were luckily right at the front when the event started nearly 100 of these mikoshi (portable shrines) from 44 neighbourhoods are carried to Sensoji temple these mokoshi are then blessed at the temple and are paraded around their neighbourhoods to spread luck and prosperity you can really feel the passion ending the day with some kakigori thanks for joining me on my first week back in Japan see you in the next video :)
