Antarctica Polar Plunge - Expedition Part 8
how does it feel how does it feel welcome to the continent Mainland Antarctica oh hello bye-bye guys I just caught a bird that's coming out of nowhere oh oh wait a minute looks like some friends are coming he's setting a trap for them and it looked like he had an egg in his mouth and I keep talking because I don't want to go in the water oh my God there are other penguins like three Penguins coming right now so maybe they're coming to see what he's you probably can't see but there's little dots on top of that uh what seems to be semi-glacier well looks like we're gonna be walking up from that angle all the way over there and uh yeah get a good cool perspective book numbering size this is actually finally the official continent Landing we've been doing a lot of islands around but this is the continent right here so uh can't wait right because I know a lot of people are going to say oh you didn't go to America if you didn't put your foot in the continent here we go we're doing it now all right is that birds over there or rocks those three wins yeah it is packed with penguins over there [Music] welcome to the continent Mainland Antarctica so beautiful spot but we do have some safety concerns here so as you can see the glacier is very close yep so we ask that you don't stay on the low Beach to get up to the high Beach because it throws a wave it's big enough to flip a zodiac over very very strong waves second thing if you go for a hike up the club please um stick to the path there's some serious crevasses up there um some other people found one just three meters off the path last week so stick to the path if you don't want anyone falling down any crevices very beautiful spot we have nesting gentus both up there there's over here so you have two directions you can go Sue is over there with the first colony beautiful background of Glacier and their photographs there otherwise you can follow the flags around the hill and up where Seb and the team have laid a track up for a bit of a Viewpoint more Penguins over there there is big penguin highways over there so if you can wait they'll let you know Penguins go by and then you cross really quick get to the other side okay um let them have the right away so it's a busy area it's a highway over there so anyways you have until 11 45 lots of time here so slide on up both sides and enjoy all right guys you heard the lady this is the continent of Antarctica we finally made it uh officially we've been here for a while but officially we finally made it and it feels good that I've actually was able to do something that I've been wanting to do ever since I was a child and let's visit this place meet the Penguins just the wildlife it's just the stuff it's just amazing let's look at some penguins and just enjoyed the day right here it's in a Cove area surrounded by beautiful mountains filled with snow so guys here's our first look into a penguin this is uh him just walking and as you can see these uh little crevices that they're working on so what we call Penguin highways basically the area where they like to walk and get where from one place they're next the The Ground has been tested so it makes walking also a lot easier for them so guys we have this penguin that is becoming a supermodel loves to just pose for everybody he's not making any movements this uh giving everybody the the penguin look look how he raises his chin like oh it's a profile picture this is the case you wanted to see his profile there it is [Music] [Applause] he's telling you can eat Rock if you want to play with him so over there guys you can see birds uh fighting with the Penguins the birds are trying to take their area or whatever food they have or even deal with from when they do have nests these penguins are on guard but as you can see these are newly new chicks they were hatched a couple weeks ago I don't know how long ago but they look good size right here there gots to be like around 300 maybe four 500 uh Penguins here it's amazing so if you are taking a trip here and you're wondering are you going to see Penguins you are pretty much there all over the coast of uh Antarctica and the Islands nearby so you're gonna get a good chance to see some Wildlife for sure this is thus by far the biggest uh Colony I've seen it's so real like I'm looking at it but I can't believe this is real what I'm looking at what I do know is the smell is is real [Music] no it's like lightning that is crazy a group of penguins gather along the shore they seem to be preoccupied by Something In The Water Well the seals out there right there the seals eat the Penguins right the answer to that I would later find out firsthand in this video no maybe I mean it's birds attacking look at this one right here he's just reflecting on life how good life has been towards him looking at the beautiful mountain range paying attention to these Evil Knievel birds all right so there's a vantage point of that way it's a [ __ ] I'm gonna go check out the hike and uh yeah let's look at it highways oh wow it's like the swim team they swim in numbers just so they can protect themselves it's one of those aiming to poop at me let me get out of his way before he poops alright guys so we're gonna be heading up this hike right here when we came in we saw some people just going up let's say it's very important that we follow these flags right here let's see where it takes us and there it is the Penguin Highway guys the fastest highway to the ocean all right they don't want you to walk too much on these highways because these are rocks they made and if you we walk on it too much we might destroy their routes so they're telling us to be very careful mindful of what the Penguins created [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] all right guys now that we got the penguin Highway let's check out what's up there what's everybody sitting up their door guys they're doing a little slide down this hill right here laughs there you go oh you know if I do it my pants is breaking [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] if they stay any longer they freeze these guys do entertainment in the boat and it's a little Tango team they're actually from Buenos Aires [Music] not okay we made it baby [Music] we made it thank you wow you can see the waves are smashing the beach look the waves the ripples are huge they're making they're really Making Waves on the beach guys this is still wavy here all of that was done by that I said fell over there I think I got it wouldn't go for just a little bit of it but man wow I'm never gonna see this again unless I come back unless like maybe in uh Alaska or something similar I don't know this might be your one and only time to see them in a while wow what was your first time here yeah on the continent oh 2013. almost nine years ago how was it do you remember thanks sir this is amazing yeah the land was different too I could imagine surrounded by Penguins a lot of seals um ice everywhere yeah it makes you want to come back that's why I've been doing it for so long but you've seen the changes yeah oh yeah you definitely noticed changes some areas where there's a little bit less ice than there was before um where some of the species of that of penguins that prefer the cold have moved on to other areas because it's warmer and and then you get the penguins that prefer the warmer climates kind of move in so there's this kind of shift in the wildlife in the way in which um they they inhabit they inhabit this area um so these are Gentry penguins these guys prefer a slightly warmer climate they're like a southern tactic species yes but uh a long time ago maybe 100 years ago if you looked at the photographs of the early polar explorers um these species were probably uh delis and delis delis which are the true Antarctic species which prefer the cold cold guys I speak penguin it's true I think this is gonna be they stop and turn when every time I do it so you made it to the top of the world what's next uh Connie uh uh Emperor adventurous uh Explorer Explorer yeah so where's next to its floor I don't know I'm collecting information where else can I go I've been everywhere okay maybe maybe uh uh Asia other parts of Asia yeah this is where I'm from are you sure what about uh what about uh Bali I've been already we went to Bali yeah it's a nice place can go again yeah but what about the Middle East Middle is also I've been but uh yeah they open up what about Africa Africa has been as well where have you been in in Namibia Zambia South Africa all the animals when they are there I was there to check all of them oh you went Safari yeah gorilla everything chimpanzees tracking okay so oh then Central Central America maybe what is that Central America Central America we have Costa Rica I've been there already this trip yeah two months ago bye but if you know anywhere interesting let me know down below she's super excited because it is her seventh continent I actually have a couple to go but I am super excited to be here um on the continent of Antarctica and I want to give a couple shout outs for sure I want to speak the names of my loved ones in the air of Antarctica so fufun my mother Tracy and Maya my sister King Drew and chance my nephews I also want to give a shout out to if I can put this down to to Haiti shout out to all my Haitians out there around the world I'm Haitian American but I want to particularly give a shout out to my my Haitian um people out there to let you know we made it over here but a lot of a lot of stuff is a lot of bad stuff been happening on the island so this trip is also dedicated to you guys um I will pray that Haiti becomes a better Island oh so the glacier's falling at the end and uh yeah shout out to all my subscribers who believed in me who've been there since day one who get frustrated but uh just to let you know as always this trip has been worth it and I want to say oh man it's always something on my channel you're gonna get to see it's not we're not no regular YouTube channel this channel here is here to motivate the people to travel more and push people out of the limits me coming from the streets of Miami this uh dealing with non-essential things that don't really matter and just showing that hey man people like you people like you do awesome things too and so hopefully people watch my soul and see my soul yeah someone who who came from the hood who came from a neighborhood that uh shouldn't be here and they see well hey you know the story got to the point say shout out to my family members all right your son your brother your uncle has made it here today we everywhere Haitians everywhere baby another thing too I want to mention is Al Gore is a very big advocate of this place right here I want him to speak to Bill Clinton about doing something with the Haitian Rice Farm industry a couple of years ago Bill Clinton made an apology about his involvement destroying Hades rice industry and it was just an apology but yet still when I was in Haiti they were still selling American rice there okay so I wanted to buy um some rice but uh this is what I kept finding right here uh some American rice pretty much look at this so I'm not going to buy this because it came from America this is part of the problem that Haiti is having right now they're you know this doesn't make any sense 1881 the United States is followed a policy until the last year so we started rethinking it that we rich countries that produce a lot of food should sell it to poor countries and relieve them of the burden of producing your own food so thank goodness they can leap directly into the industrial era it has not worked it's maybe been good for some of my farmers in Arkansas but it has not worked it was a mistake it was a mistake that I was a party to I am not pointing the finger at anybody I did that I have to live every day with the consequences of the Lost capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti consequences of the walls capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti to feed those people for the land but they have uh they're importing rice because it's a lot cheaper or some cases stuff like this is free we really need to put pressure on the United States to stop doing this for whatever reason this is not helping they got money for Wars but can't feed the POI this is the reason why they can't feed the poor they're sending the food to the wrong people they need to send this to the people that's hungry in the United States before they send it out of play out of the country this country can make their own rice and that's what they need to do I think the apology was commendable but I think there needs to be more than uh Prodigy there needs to be a systematic in place to right the wrongs okay uh so perhaps we help support the farming industry in Haiti get Haiti back into the right track so they can pay their their people and eat food from their own land so all right that's it basically all I wanted to say about that so Antarctica huh we made it the continent yes man so how you feel well impressive all the time all the time it's amazing since since the whole trip has been impressive really really impressive and for me the most [Music] important thing here is the silence it's amazing it's so nice it's so peaceful very unique rightly recommend as we're leaving guys the sun is coming out even more so we're gonna have a really good afternoon here in this area but man look how lovely this place looks as the sun just beams and hit the ice from the water it's just a [Music] the views absolutely yeah yes it's amazing day it's a beautiful nature thank you all right guys back to the [ __ ] for some lunch and then we're gonna hit the area and uh see what else is of in this area let's go [Music] foreign lunch out on Deck so we're just making our turn into the southern end of the aurera channel very beautiful channel here and we'll be proceeding through the channel up north towards our afternoon destination of cooraville Island of course don't forget we'll be doing polar plunging at the end of this excursion so wear your swim trunks under your poker gear once we're in position if we have the ability to we'll go as early as we can to make the most of this beautiful afternoon so enjoy the sale through the Aurora Channel and we'll let you know when we're ready with Zodiacs to go to cooterville Island thank you [Music] guys guys I'm by myself because I got me some extra sleep I have a VIP ride to Hooverville Island you might be doing polar plants we have the vegan bigger colony of penguins here in Krugerville for all the peninsula so it's quite cool to see and let's see if we find some seals or never seals okay cool oh my God you let me take a picture guys check out the seal right here the others because she has the face with the shape of the snake as you can see right there wow okay let me take my other camera oh my God it's so so real this would be working a final one so wild it has to be around 800 pounds he looks like it I know this image is not going to give you any Clarity on anything but man he is colossal or she is and they love to this beach in the water how beautiful and Majestic this be should this animal is [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay a little bit about cougarville Island okay this is the largest Gentoo penguin Rookery here in this area of the Antarctic Peninsula so if there's thousands and thousands of penguins on their nests we have a few different spots to go seb's over here with this colony Sue is way over there she's also got a really large fur seal so you want to check that out as well as Sasha and Mike have gone up the hill to a high point okay polar plungent starts here at the beach at five and anytime you want you can go out uh come back to the beach we can go for a zodiac Cruise as well last zodiac is six o'clock okay um can you describe the polo plunge what how's that ah polar plus we have icebergs we have penguins and you get undressed right here and run right into the water with all the Penguins and the icebergs we have to be brave enough to do it yeah yeah you tried before I've done it I've done it how many times just once that was enough it's once that's all I needed to get bragging rights for life okay all right cool we'll just explore this area real quick most definitely want to get back on the boat see what's around this area here and um yeah see if we can get some water footage that'd be great yeah foreign [Music] I think these guys operate a different shifts they work at night or something like that they get busy at night they'll be too tired in the morning you wanted Penguins yes did they deliver yes they did I'm so happy I've got a view than this one yeah unless they were like right around you making circles and bringing you room service can we make that happen on our room service but I just want them to like Circus the pictures with them this one yeah beautiful lights because movies how do you guys like the pictures oh I haven't had a chance to see them I mean when I show you I have to look at them because otherwise you don't do it oh my God let me practice what you did no I'm not gonna take your pictures that's good I want them why are you wearing them somewhere yeah [Laughter] the lighting is good you never remove even your glasses I always remove my glasses to take your pictures so as you can see if the light is good or like it's not tandore man I'm gonna kill you so there it is Guys these are whale bones and apparently it's from the remnants of when they used to catch whales in the area if you've been paying attention earlier we talked about whale catching and so a lot of people would come here to catch whales they use it for different products so there you go it's huge bones guys I just caught a bird that's coming out of nowhere and it looked like he had an egg in his mouth I don't know if it was a rock or an egg that bird just took an egg thank you [Music] [Applause] there I thought they'd uh the baby's hatched already dead already you can tell those Penguins were pissed off and they have a way of making noise like Gary get out the hell out of here all right guys so we're gonna get on the boat again see what's around this neighboring area right here so let's do it I wonder how far we get in the water our body stops moving well you have to go pretty far unless you dive in I really do prefer like jumping now out of the zodiac and then coming back here or like yeah like they bring you here maybe seal comes in oh what's going on guys doing my fish oh you want to eat nah one thing he was on the boat now you're under my water [Music] after getting on the boat we decided to revisit our seal friend but to a surprise he wasn't there we would soon find out what he was up to as we were surveying the area for wildlife we noticed a group of penguins jumping out of their water sporadically they were being chased by you know who oh foreign guys I do have a video that's up close and personal that I wish I could share with you but unfortunately I can't but I can show you what happens next for some reason he lets go of the penguin he was able to sense that the Penguin friends were coming so he set up a trap let's see what happens next yeah I get very curious and oh wait a minute looks like some friends are coming maybe he's setting a trap for them [Music] they're coming right yeah but there are other penguins like three Penguins coming right now so maybe they're coming to see what he's doing or these guys are just getting out of the way [Music] after getting close the Penguins immediately figured out it was a trick and hightailed it out of there this was a hard reminder when it comes to Mother Nature there are no good or bad this is just the natural Order of Things someone has to eat and someone will survive and after the sacrifice of their fellow penguin hopefully the other three Penguins will get to see another date anybody won't have any words to say about the penguin last words it was a good penguin rest in peace you swim good hope baby mama ain't waiting at home oh damn I think we leave him to it I think we know what's gonna happen next who's polar plunging guys it starts at five so I'll drop you off because it's almost five five yeah ten to five now so oh tomorrow go let's go baby are you ready guys what is that animal in there he's back home not cold okay here we go baby it is yeah oh he went with the sandals too oh yeah [Applause] so it's so numb that the Rocks don't hurt as much but you just feel the sting of your feet [Music] come on do you like that okay you have it on the photo section I don't know it's in Israel he's in Hebrew okay okay okay there it is I have a robot yeah excuse me look at this okay excuse me okay this is really cold oh yes if I didn't get it here I got it on camera and I can uh pull out the image your feet and that way you don't have to worry about the Rocks it'll make it a lot easier getting in and out of the water I guess and it doesn't end guys we're gonna be taking some champagne in this cold water we just finished swimming on awesome we're in the boat right now guys cheers that hit the right spot thank you guys really appreciate it after a wonderful day of Polo punching and everything I am haunted by everybody in this ship everybody in the ship has iPhones everybody okay yeah what's up but majority do and so they've been air dropping pictures and videos left and right I these photos it's funny how things turn out never could I imagine I could sign up for a two-week cruise by myself and say at the end of my journey I found a group of people I could call family even if it was momentarily and although we were almost at the end of our Expedition and we'll go our separate ways we believe knowing that each one of us left a memory to remember and that our moment of Antarctica will never be the same without each other thank you I'm right here thank you this lady right right she is the master of all this is celebrity oh you're the one that did that okay okay okay thank you one two three her face was so Priceless because she was like whose birthday it is like looking to see whose birthday it is and then on Ice yes yes very good for your first time first I've ever seen snow in the Antarctic on the continents wow thank you come on thank you thank you very much for being with this wonderful people this is amazing this is one of my best Christmas trips so thank you guys you guys made it special I'm here too guys I'm here too might as well record myself I'm here what's up guys we're here on Half Moon Island this is our last Landing of the whole trip a lot of The Landings got canceled uh well some of them did because of the weather conditions ice it's unpredictable sometimes so and then as you can see it's snowing at the moment but they made an effort for us to see uh this area right here so we're gonna see some new type of wildlife here different type of penguins we're going to be seeing some chin strap Penguins but we're more famous ones and then some different types of seals so let's check it out getting around the area some seals right here and we'll get some cool pictures all right hello I love it oh look at that he's not happy and his mouth is full of blood from a food he's been eating a lot that's the food he's showing me his teeth because he wants to let me know that he has them and he wants to use them he can use them still see yeah he's he's a little emotional because I'm here be careful all right this must be the big boy this right here he seems like he's the biggest all of them he calls the shots it's interesting to see how predator and prey can coexist so close to each other look at that that's that's insane we as humans would never stay close to our predators that close crazy it's not like something is sucking like a baby sucking on some food or something what is that nice it's just nothing just letting you know that we're here we're making noise okay they're making noise to let us know don't get too close they're kind of sat they're sat proud and upright um make themselves look big this guy here is in charge for the moment the one in the middle on the middle yeah seems like it beautiful long whiskers oh that's what they used to detect their fuse and they're underwater navigating through the dark they've if they feel they can feel the the wake of their prey uh using the whiskers the boat is a relic from a time when um the whale there are two stories we're not entirely sure 100 one story is that the Whalers came here and they abandoned this there's another story in that one of the very early tourism ships came here in the late 50s early 60s and they used to use boats like this to get from ship to shore just like we use Zodiacs to get from ship to Shore and they got caught out in some bad weather and the boat was washed up here and sort of left derelict here ever since I like the second story more because it's a nice Circle to close you know the pioneering tourists came here the very first and now you're here so it's like a closed loop to wear your pants like this well once you get in land this is so much easier walking the plant's gonna hem on your feet as well so just keep in mind it's gonna avoid getting these kinds of wet I would recommend it all right guys so we have more chin strap Penguins up that way check it out they're not as friendly as the other ones the other one's like hey what's up what's up you want to dance guys when you come to the other side of this island it is infested with Lion seals man I don't know if they're line seals but huge humongous seals they're all over this place for this particular Island there's so many different rocks here you can easily get one of these rocks mixed up with a seal they're all over the place I didn't realize there were so many of them but this is like the perfect bracelet on the B I also noticed uh earlier how that pinwin was walking yeah he didn't have a highway here and that's because of there was no snow and I think for the seals that should have managed for them and for the Penguins it's a disadvantage so they have to walk through these rocks more they might end up walking into a seal we're hungry one oh man there's so many seals here [Music] [Music] how many are here uh I don't know exactly about uh I would say about 5 000 or something like that wow 5 000. yeah I almost got his head what's up with him he's mostly he's sleeping foreign these are chin strap Penguins this situation is a little bit different I mean just look at Happy Feet over here you can tell that his plate is different from those from the other Islands I mean he's on an island that doesn't have that much snow so he has to jump from rock to rock to get to his destination I don't know if this is a good strategy considering this island is filled with sea lions yes now what is your name Leon and yours nice to meet you Dad nice to meet you Leon are you here on your own yeah wow yeah that's amazing it's like my birthday gift uh Slash gift I always wanted so giving it to myself oh people come out here who you came with my daughter okay that's cool so how how's the experience has it been it's been good yeah yeah that's cool exactly what you wanted what was your favorite day huh what was your favorite day playing black rocks black seals it's just quite a contrast you can only you could almost miss them if you don't pay attention because all these rocks here yeah the seals just look like rocks if you if you're not paying attention mm-hmm yeah I don't know what my favorite day has been but Penguins yesterday was really good for me yesterday you went you went swimming yeah yeah my daughter went swimming yeah I didn't want it yeah well you're here you saw it you enjoyed it I hear only like around 40 000 people show up every year here in comparison to other countries and states you have millions of people show up per year and it's only 40 and I think it was less this year because a lot of cancellations there's a lot of cancellations oh I know the first cruise we were gone canceled really yeah so you kept looking that's I got him one of their way he yelled at me and I was like okay I'm walking I'm walking not running sound like when it yelled at you I don't wanna roll yeah something like a little more intimidating oh do you want to take a cruise huh they said they'd take us cruising if you want I'm gonna hike all the way around and then that one really scared the crap out of [Music] oh my God in water [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign out of all the landings I've been to this area by far had been the most aggressive because of the color of the seals it was hard to tell where they were mixing the terrain so with every step you had to move with caution the seals were fighting for dominance and they would not go down so easily at first I was afraid that I would mistakenly walk into one but then I realized they were showing me something watching the seals I learned a life lesson with every tussle win or lose they held their head high with the utmost pride and so should I with life with every storm that comes my way with every obstacle in my journey win lose a draw keep my head up and take pride in the life I've chosen to walk and never give up on it regardless of the circumstances [Music] foreign thank you [Music] all right all right guys it's pretty much our last day on the boat we leave tomorrow and uh in the morning and uh we're just enjoying some cocktails on the deck I'm not wearing a jacket right now as you can see the waves are calm we're we're so close to land [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] I left [Music] I'm home [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] and that's it guys the journey to Antarctica has ended but the Journey To Life still moves on still goes on this is another check mark on my bucket list how did I decided to travel I feel a new leaf on life I feel like life is worth living for and not giving up on and I just want to remind you guys that I came from the bottom and I'm still climbing up and I want you to know you can do the same thing too as long as you believe in yourself and you're willing to put forth the effort remember dreams are
