A week in Tokyo (1-month japan honeymoon)
checking in at Ito Ryokan there was some traditional music lesson going on walking up and down akihabara spotted lots of toys a very rare godzilla a really huge one chibi sephiroth and japan exclusive lottery prizes the room is spacious but cold breakfast at 7 Eleven love the automated voice instructions headed to the meiji shrine today a quiet place amid the bustle of shibuya oops not supposed to walk in the centre beautiful wood construction the grain of the trunks a soft breeze reading about the "marriage trees" these two trees above us whose branches have intertwined calming sounds of nature in nearby takeshi street, schoolchildren were singing next stop: shimokitazawa Natural Crepe Premium shimokitazawa has a hipster vibe shopping cluster with shipping containers this stretch is filled with thrift stores but we didn't find anything for us Rojiura Curry Samurai a soupy curry filled with a variety of ingredients all the possible ingredient choices great meal! picked up some strawberries and came across soramame for the first time Yanaka Coffee she needs her coffee lots to choose from inside people-watched walked by an old school snack shop found ourselves in a Mandarake there's some pricey pokemon cards in here 5000sgd / 3700usd back in our neighbourhood Conveyor Sushi Misaki Ningyocho great value for money freshness and quality was super! cheers to a great start to our honeymoon after a long day as the building is old insulation isn't great luckily there's a hot tub warm and cosy reviewing our stamps from today there's a little surprise in store for her this morning thanks to people posting on instagram walking through ueno park this pond is covered by lotus plants in the summer another chilly morning let's come again someday and see the lotuses one last time looking for a coffee place A Komeda Coffee in Ueno her first time to Ichiran ever hunger and anticipation as it was early, there was virtually no one else i forgot that they bow after serving comforting her verdict heading to the Zojo-ji with Tokyo Tower in the background was hoping to buy something from the Final Fantasy x Tokyo Tower pop up but it was sold out back at zojo-ji: statues of children yet to be born, and those who were not born after an enjoyable overhead bridge we made it to shelter at Hamarikyu Gardens Nakajima-no-ochaya the drizzle continues sipping hot matcha to warm us many wooden bridges here connecting the little islands seeking shelter from the suddenly heavier rain a peaceful garden amidst modernity heard there's a good cream puff here Patisserie PAROLA generously creamy a chance encounter in Ebisu standing in the cold drizzle to greet our friend i was wearing a godzilla t shirt as we were going to watch a godzilla movie today queued half an hour for coffee because we believed the hype of some sg influencer it was worth it tho sipping it at the next door apartment lobby Pizza da Babbo~ homemade sausage wonderfully spiced and fragrant waiting for the main course prosciutto di parma satisfying it's back to the hotel to concuss this tree just caught my attention rustling beside the tsukiji hongwanji Tsumugi a cafe that offers a 18-dish breakfast inspired by Buddha so green and luscious coming here was a last minute decision the queue was about 10 people long half an hour before opening there are only 30 servings of this breakfast set per day mentaiko yam konnyaku duck breast and the miso soup were the highlights for me cleared house inside the hongwanji a very atypical temple with elaborate wood carvings and a large organ and an equally peculiar exterior at nearby tsukiji market walking through the little alleys but everything here seemed like a bit of a tourist trap time for coffee headed for another trending coffee spot onibus coffee whose main claim to fame is the 2nd floor that seems to be always overcrowded all eyes are on you once you walk through the door lol we managed to get a seat after 15 minutes or so coffee was average but i did dig that celadon cup almost time for our movie featuring this guy fittingly, in Toho cinemas shinjuku tried to keep it a surprise but the pre-movie safety instructions revealed it was a 4DX movie where the seats move and there's wind and mist effects it was a pretty cool movie experience made our way to nakano broadway love the retro vibes of this street Maguro Mart Tuna Platter with assorted cuts of the fish that's the cheek at the end best tuna we've ever had and top contender for best meal of this trip too maguro don negitoro the rice below was generously vinegared 06:20 am that's how we roll gotta protect her bangs Asakusa - Kaminarimon no one's here this early but the stalls aren't open either but it's a nice tranquility there's a coin right there lowkey creepy elaborate details her first ever famichiki her first ever hot drink from a vending happy to capture her happiness went into a donki they're very narrow here went to a trending unagi place that i felt was kinda overrated Chaya Tabanenoshi scored some lottery figures otw here manifesting did not work creme brulee top balanced bitter matcha taste cream and raspberry inside plus a little ice cream Komugi no Dorei a curry bun with an exterior of croutons and an insane crunch steamy curry, great for a cold morning next item on the menu: cheesy vegetable curry bun the cheese pull is insane crowd is here saw this hot red bean drink headed back to rest for a bit before heading out to a supposedly legendary taiyaki place mesmerising to watch back at the ryokan nice and crispy warm and fluffy short outing while the laundry's running tokyo station back to unbox some more cmon......
