so we are here in the middle of the night uh on a smaller toll searching for coconut crabs uh where we what i told before we put the traps this the coconut the half coconut and now we're gonna have a look what we gotta find in this trap [Music] oh [Music] power [Music] way [Applause] [Music] [Music] hey we also climb in the trees right yeah [Music] foreign we reinstall them before the coconuts so you can see them already snack a little bit out of it do so they can climb up coconut trees and that's why they are called uh and then he falls down sometimes luck sometimes it's all [Applause] yes wow so they're just trying to get the crab out of the hole back there and the problem is that these crabs these cocoa crabs they build labyrinths below the ground and so they're using their machete to try to get it out of there and poking quite exciting super exciting yeah the whole ground here is full of uh holes when you walk on it and uh yeah these huge croco crabs whose scissors can snap your fingers good job good job gaston crab okay now i know these are the things that are they i understand okay and they eat this and usually they throw these away yeah nice things but now we can keep them nice huh um of the animal they eat the animal and this stone goes on top of it this is the one that uh we often use in europe for jewelry and with this uh they hold on to rocks in waves pretty cool huh and they just throw them away they i don't know they don't have any use for this i just told kareem might be a nice idea making some jewellery this sir [Music] foreign oh what are we having for breakfast today the coco crab we hunted yesterday in the evening so this is how they look like cooked cocoa crab and some rice here nice special breakfast so good morning um after our crab and rice breakfast um we are gonna take the boys uh from the village uh gaston and tonga to a little kite surfing session and um yeah they're all pretty excited it's the first time they're gonna do something like this and uh yeah really looking forward to it we're just gonna go around the corner from here and um because there's a better uh beach for learning it and the winds are not totally offshore like they are here and let's see what it's going to be like so we're getting timati ready the boat and then we're going to take off quickly going to get my backpack and then off we go juvia [Music] [Music] do [Music] do [Music] [Music] yes [Music] [Music] okay all righty step two into the water [Music] to learn how to handle the kite a little [Music] bit [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey [Music] so i guess we've chosen the perfect time to move anchorage [Music] there's this huge front coming over us ah and the rain actually really hurts and i have to be a watch out here for uh [Music] uh for uh mummies which are really hard to see now now it's going really bad just behind of this bomby i just couldn't believe it um i saw fluke uh diving down so there seems to be some sort of whale and not a small one here in the lagoon um wow it's right right over there next to next to them wow [Music] oh my gosh [Music] thanks for joining us on our adventure with giant coco crabs trying two immortal delicacies as well as on gaston's and tonga's first kitesurfing session join us next time in our very special episode where we get the chance to interview the last eyewitness of the contiki raft arrival in 1947 which was actually smatted on the reef of rajoya find out how the locals actually realized a group of naked scandinavian men had stranded on the other side of their atoll with all sorts of goods washed ashore they had never seen before and last but not least find out why the elderly gentleman we interviewed is only alive today because of knude hogland a crew member of the contiki raft if you enjoy the content of our videos please consider supporting us on patreon to be able to share more of these adventures with you thank you and ahoy [Music]
