Ghodetar, Located at southern part of Bhojpur hiding an important fact of history Capital of "Mid Kirants" Hatwagadhi The Last battle of Gorkha & Waling Sunuhang king King Prithivinarayan shah unified this place at last Trip to Hatwagadhi also requires waterways We will travel a long in Koshi river today We will cross the rapids of Koshi River And choose the way of Arun River This is the last station of Jet Boat We will walk for a while to take vehicle Will take an auto from Kopche near Koshi Will travel through beautiful places of Bhojpur district Will travel through adverse road condition Cant go further Lets get down (Shouting Energetically) This pond used to change colours While looking it ealry morning The colour depict good or bad fortune Journey starts from Pathari of Morang Pathari Sanischare Bhutanese Refugee Camp thousands of Refugees are migrated to third country Hundreds of them are still here Two youths born at Bhutan, grown in Nepal and at US now Searching their Childhood and house Arriving this place reminds me my childhood memories Houses and Villages are destroyd But feelings cant It feels worse while being at Refugee Camp This was someone's house But it wasnt their country Their own country Dont let them to stay They dont want to migrate more But they dont got identity Today's Episode is about sad story Distinct tour and unique history Please watch till end This is pathri of Morang Large city of eastern Morang Pathri Sanischare bhutanese Refugee camp lies nearby Recently here are 4/5 hundred houses containing 1400 refugees Many houses are destroyed They have migrated to US and many other countries We are now at Pathri Sanischare Refugee Camp Here are many houses of Refugees till now They are here from decade of 90 They are still here Today we will reach Hatwagadhi after filming this We will travel through boat to reach there A beautiful destination in 90's many of Bhutanese citizen left their country Its simple to hear, they just came from Bhutan and live here Its bitter to compare their life with you You have to leave you house Cant live in own country Own militant used force Have to fled away without anything Should run without taking anything in hand Should take care of children while leaving Many died on the way Pandemic attacked meanwhile Took asylum in small huts in another country After living 20 years in nepal should again migrate Those who encounterd this faced every challange in life the real twist in life can be Found in Bhutanese Camp these two guys were 4/5 years when they came here They lived here for 20 years and reached US 12 years ago They did well being citizen of US and returned Nepal for visit Here used to be my house when we were refugees Now we are at very comfortable country and life While being here its nostalgic We played nearby I can see the streets my school Learn to speak here within make me feel different i feel like crying The memory of childhood Played here, Grown up and Now we are at different place What you consider your "house"? is it birthplace? The place where you grown up? Or the country where you are living with freedom? Trying to define the meaning of "House" we left bhutan in 1992 and camped here We stayed here We had a miserable life here for 20 years and settled at USA We loved our land and visiting Nepal now We consider this our land this is real house This soil seems our home My brother struggled here lot Performed business on bicycle We were doing good I want to remember my parents now This is my land where i played and grown up I am very happy I am here after 12 years after 12 years Our houses got destroyed Village disappears But heart never can be My heart is even here Refugees who were too young to be carried here didnt saw difficulties The real challenge faced by the parents who brought their child Searched new life in another country Struggled for 20 years Saw all dimenson of life But they dont lose hope They grown up the child and make them able Padam magar remembering the hardship of parents I am missing my parents a lot They did lot for us and family Even They are far away now I want to remember them here We havent face hardship They actually did lot Only they know their struggle Even now 10 thousand refugees living in Beladangi and Pathari They cant migrate due to several reasons They arent getting help from any authorities now 512 houses are here now at refugee camp Having population of 1400 refuge at this camp No any organization is helping us now a days We have to reside here as other local Nepalese Many houses are destroyed in Refugee camp nearly 100 thousand migrated 3rd country being their citizen They are doing business there Some of them are too succeed But they cant forget their land One among them is helping lot for Refugees He is helping in this difficult situation Dilliram Adhikari, former refugee He was camp secretary from Timai Refugee Camp he is helping poor people from core heart He is very helpful He is Dilliram Adhikari Intra Foundation deliverd food at time of need Old aged and handicapped are getting Rs5000 per month Intra appointed teacher at many school to support refugee children To make better future of refugee student After hearing the story of refugee, we moved further We headed towards Chure highway From Kanchi Chowk near itahari This way reaches Bhiman through Chatara, Gaighat Katari We will only reach upto koshi for boating Our destination is Ghodetar hatwagadhi This is Chatara, nearby is the canal of Koshi river Kumbha mela is organised hear at chatara Koshi Bridge near Chatara An alternate project of Mahendra highway This Chure Highway streaches from East to west Nepal This is the Bridge of koshi made at Chure highway After 2 km from Chatara is the Koshi Bridge Here is the facility of Jet Boat Now we will travel nearly 15 km on Boat After that we will take vehicle to reach Hatwagadhi Its better to be safe Safety first Slowly our boat is moving now we will travel 15 km Laxmi sir is enjoying lot it is enjoyable to ride boat in our largest river here are many high speed boat operating now We can see "Chefa" from boat taking bamboo to market Making temporary boat of bamboo to be sold Many such "Chefa" can be seen in Koshi Its a decade that jet boat provides service here Now there are many jet boat providing services For local and Tourists we can see Barahachhetra main religious site River koka merges to Koshi at this point These boats helped the locals of Dhankuta and Bhojpur They should walk a lot in the absence of these boats Now boat can easily take them to market, shouldnot carry loads This is perfect tour for tourists as well It is really a pleasant tour Ticket cost for boat is Nrs 1200 per person both way for the last station of boat We are now at Saptakoshi Seven tributories merged here Just before is the place where River Tamor merges We can see Khuwalung a religious stone It is religious place for kirants Earlier, it was said to blast Khuwalung for water transport Khuwalung is not just a stone it is main site for kirants its not good to blast beliefs in the name of Development Khuwalung doesnt seem to obstrct the way of boat without harming Khuwalung, way can be expanded from side its not good to be uncivilized in the name of Being modern we should conserve our traditions and culture River arun on the right, sunkoshi on our left The hill on our right is Dhankuta Mid hill is Bhojpur and udayapur on our left The colour of water is distinct Arun seems muddy We will go towards right We are now at arun it is the border of Dhankuta and Bhojpur district huge rocks can be seen on the bank of river Arun Arun starts from tibet This is the biggest tributory of Koshi river This make worlds deepest arun Valley on the way One passanger wants to unboard here now we are near our destination This is the last station it took half and hour to reach here This is the last stand for boat Vehicles are waiting up there We can reach Hatwagadhi in one and half hour We started walking We can see some houses there We are following locals as they move Some hotels, vehicles can be found here Auto Rickshaw or Four wheel We are at kopche Bhojpur Beyond river is Dhankuta We choose Auto to reach Ghodetar it is cost effective It charged Rs, 4000 both way We will return through boat again its 10am, we hired auto We will travel with driver Bhim Rai for 2 more hours We ascended, koshi seems down below hills of Udayapur, Bhojpur and dhankuta around This place is called Ukhubari Small village, vegetation as of terai (Plain) Its my first time to ride auto auto perfromed well in this difficult terrian its not comfortable to ride in this difficult road The view of koshi river Playing hide & seek with us its a small plateau, Solonba The village is sparse few houses on village general store of Ukhubari Variety shop Will refuel here Variety of products at a place What is this place called? Ukhubari Bhim dai is filling petrol Petrol, highly priced and scare, its luck to get it here "It feels like drinking" Bhim dai craked joke thin village, greenary Schools Cultivable land Sunflower farm, This place is good for cultivation Earlier tiger used to be found here Wild animals made the life difficult A person trapped tiger and make them all dead After that people lived freely here Auto driver bhim dai telling us old stories trip is not so comfortable but we are enjoying it is always good to visit rural villages it is enjoyable to visit village of nepal than cities Every place of nepal is perfect There are many tourist destinations in Nepal Tourist enjoy there But we have lack of infrastructure Agriculture, tourism and hydro can make Nepal rich We have all these but lagging behind always we can earn foreign reserve from these sector We are facing economic crisis now Economic disaster is attacking us soon Many countries are there progressed through tourism We have more Ghodetar is just before now We have to do hurry, else we will miss that boat later Can see market area seems large having roof of steel (Tin) trip was not comfortable but was enjoyable Due to road condition we are tired as well how ever we had a fun It took 2 hours to reach here The road condition was not so good A market area having tin roofed Now we will ascend to hatwagadhi All houses having steel roof Some houses are made entirely with tin only dense market at a small place We will take launch here Asking about the places to visit Hatwagadhi palace lies nearby Will move there after launch Bhojpur District Hatwagadhi Rural Municipality Ghodetar 1540m above sea level it is the main market of southern Bhojpur It was the capital of Manjh Kirant in ancient time Waling dynasty ruled here was a best ruling king It was a civilized Kirant kingdom of the time Small and big hills are around Ghodetar This place is at plain This is a plateau Plain land on the top hill Here used to be a palce It was easy to operate war from top of hill Usually old palace and forts are found on top hill Kings used to race horse in this plain land So it is called Ghodetar Many schools, shops and offices are seen in Ghodetar Hotels have been set up to facilitate tourists The project of black topped road is under construction it will be easily accessable from headqaurter lets see the view for a while We can see stairs upward this is to reach hatwagadhi The palace area is inside army area We are moving there this is the fort of Hatwagadhi The remains of Sunuhang palace The remains of Kirant Dynasty Capital of Majh Kirants Here used to be Kirant kingdom till 1831 BS Gorkhali troops conquer later And was annexed to Nepal Sunuhang was the last king We are now at Hatwagadhi palace The palace existed here This is the stone grinder used by king sunuhang These are the stone from the real palace hatwagadhi Palace is conqured by gorakha at last After that king Sunuhang fled away This is an ancient fort of Bhojpur District His palace was here Even today the name of places nearby are given royal Ranibas, Sundardhara, Ghodetar Hangkhing tole These name are associated with kirant dynasty This is one of the important icon in history This is the place where Gorkha fought last battle Very rare know its historical significance More research is needed Chairman Prem kumar rai know more about this place historical fort of majh kirat Ruled by kirants It is called Hatwagadhi We are planning to make it a tourist destination in 1831 Gorkhali troop move eastern region There were 3 kingdoms in east Makwanpur, chaudandigadhi and Bijayapur After makwanpur and Chaudandi Gorkha attacked Bijayapur This is the capital of Majh kirat that time After battle of few days this was conquered by Gorkha it was BS 1830/31 Prithvinaryan shah and his troops they came here to attack King sunuhang Sunuhang from Waling dynasty was attacked And unified The last king sunuhang was from Waling Dynasty Many people died at war Many warriors of sunuhag were killed Gorkhali troop washed their weapons on a pond nearby Till now Waling dont take water of that pond Sone well and ponds were there nearby fort Walings dont use the water from that pond even now Because the kirants are their ancestor Gorkhali washed their weapons on that pond It is believed that the pond should not be used hatwagadi is inside army area Surrounded by army, it is not considered tourist friendly some take it negetively Some take it positively Leaving it in this condition will hamper tourism it is difficult to move army to another place But chairman is trying to transfer army post from here Two concepts are here The camp should be transfered as it hampers the historical place other says it is ok as the army is protecting fort the existence of army help to promote the place we have given the name hatwagadhi to this place We measure the land area of the palace some land should be given to the fort There are more land nearby the palace that land should be given to army, we have made agreement hatwagadhi is at high altitude There are many other historical sites nearby some sites are at the verge of extinction this is future forecating pond near ghodetar no water can be seen now this is right under the hatwagadhi palace Pond and fort is in the line of sight We are at Vabisyabakta pond near ghodetar There is a story about this pond Hatwagadhi lies just above King used to see this pond early morning he know the fortune by looking at this pond This pond use to change colour Looking this at early morning That colour depict good or bad fortune lose or win the battle future can be known by watching this from fort Being important site, this palace cant be promoted This site shows the whole history of eastern Nepal This is important from tourism aspect as well we can see beautiful view here Our trip was very intresting Water and land transport both were intresting We should focus more on tourism for economy we all should work from our own side it is challenging task to invite foreign tourists But we can do it We have everything We have to make good policies Its the end of this episode
