The Largest Gurung Village Bhujung Covered with houses everywhere Old houses, made of stones and mud Ancient houses and constructions Bhunjung of Lamjung is not only Big, its clean too Village with old tradition and typical village environment Has been protecting originality has been applying technologies for convenience Ropeway is made to carry materails from fields Will see the unique houses of Bhujung Some of our ancestors use to make this type of houses Village having history of centuries Nearly 500 houses in village One can hear old stories from the locals I have started carrying from 14 years Have carried salt in huge amount Will hear history from knowned person This is a hidden village so it is often called virgin village Pam and Fajung started living here so the name "Bhujung" is given to this village Will start our trip from beshisahar We will enjoy the beautiful scenes on the way in between lies the Ghalegaun Will visit Ghalegaun as well Beautiful greenary nearby villages Feels heavenly Will move towards destination through difficult way At last we will reach Bhujung Ancient village Flooded with houses Village filled with hospitality (inviting Guests in local Gurung language) This is Besishar, headqurter of Lamjung District beautiful city in the bank of marsyangdi River Having all facilities, besisahar is huge in size Besisahar becoming busy in prime time of day Various items are kept for sale in market The main route to reach here seperates from "Dumre" Its 2 hour drive from "Dumre" a place between Mugling and Pokhara We are now at Besisahar its a district headquarter of Lamjung District We can visit beautiful villages From besisahar There are Gurung villages in Lamjung Dense Villages Among them today we are heading towards Ghalegaun After Ghalehaun we will reach Bhujung Ghalegaun lies on the way we will visit that We will Reach Bhujung and stay there We reserved a vehicle from besisahar It will charge NRS 12000 both way fare Two friends are with us from Lancaster PA USA We are moving away from Besisahar Narrow road, black topped Down below is the Besisahar Black Topped road ends and Gravel starts Tractors are more in number on the way Used to deliver necessities for the villages above Roads made on the mid of hills We reserved the vehicle But Driver added other passenger We let him do so one traveled on the top of vehicle As per the topography the road isn't difficult Well gravelled road Suitable for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers as well The road is dusty though Down below is Beisahar, the road way from there Cultivable land Problem in tractor made the way blocked not enough space to go problem in tractor Drive trying to resolve it The tracotr made the way jammed tractor on the midway made obstruction We have to wait until its recovery Try this one travellers watching the repairment of tractor lets try once more no any sign to start Even worst signs to start Engine started Will you stay there? These structures are the oldest among all That is modernize the main occupation here is Tourism and Agriculture Old people never wore dress made outise village Aged people wear local dress even today New generation are modernized Village make their own rule along with Common rules A meet called "Bhadau Sabha" held here Bhadau Sabha make rules Every year in "Bhadra" month, the rule for village is made Bhadau Sabha declares wage rate Declares rate of locally made products Rate of agricultural products is declared One go against rule is punished Locals use to promise to obey rule touching Khukuri They call it "Dharma Samatne" until today, the rule is made in the same way But is made accordance with the Constitution of Nepal Rules are made on Practicality In fact, Bhujung is so big that someone can lost here Homestay can't be found Should ask to locals Can make call to tell the nearby homestay number Mobile phone network is good enough in village in this village "Rodi" used to practised earlier Still now, Rodi is performed but in modified form Due to lack of discipline, Rodi came to end Indiscipline entered in Rodi At that time, School were not there in village indiscipline occoured Boys and Girls used to be together in Rodi They were not disciplined We discontinued Rodi with our decision School opened later students diverted due to entertainment So we discontinued it Now only in day time Sometimes in night as well To discuss on some serious matters reagding work For that purpose only Girls use to gather nowadays On the top of hill there is dense Village On the lower side, gradually village is thinly dispersed At the lower end is the vacant land The land is utilized by locals for agriculture Soil is fertile, rice and maize can be produced We have land there In this part, we produce barley now in summer rice is cultivated We have more lands there nearby the river We produce maize and other cerels there Millet is also produced After harvesting them, paddy is cultivated We do lot of agricultual task Earlier, no transpotation service was introduced here We have to produce everything here to survive Now we have transportation We bring neccessities from nearby markets Rice is scare here need to produce here withinn Mostly corn and millet produced What was the staple food earlier? Usually we took porridge Dhindo Made from maize or millet Before roadway, the life of Bhujung was difficult They use to carry items on their back for several days They travelled lot for salt, oil and food stuffs At that time they dont have cash They performed barter trade, exchanged village products Kal Bahadur Gurung remembering old days At that time we dont have cash money We made handicrafts from bamboo Carried that, placed in market We exchanged that for salt, oil and rice We carried from Narayanghat how long you should travel? 12 days Do you remember carrying goods by yourself? yes i have carried I started carrying at 14 years Carried a lot of Salt At 14 years age Carried iron as well There is settlement at top hill Land lies down below They should go up and down to carry produce of land is cumbersome There is a ropeway in Bhujung It made life easier Here is the top station of Ropeway The rope can handle heavy items Down there is cultivable land Agricultural items can be brought using this ropeway We can see a Gondola there A mechanism is made here made by the assistance of Japan made farmers life easier There are 450 houses in bhujung will take more time to reach every houses in Bhujung though the village is big, one cant see this from distance hidden village, 700 years old We met ward chairman to know more about village We found amazing history How many houses are here? 450 houses here its hidden so called Kumari Village Pam and phoju gurungs started living here so its called Bhujung in another say hunters use to live here earlier On their name the village was named Bhujung The life of villagers became convinient as time passes Roadway has been made, tansportation is possible People diverted from agriculture to tourism More tourists visited Homestay has been established tourists became happy visiting here Far away from city The place is perfect for tours Tourism added income life standard has been increased To carry stuffd was cumbersome Now everything can be brought through roadway Life is not difficult now Before some decades, villagers were indisciplined Gambling and hunting was their regular task Alcoholism made people bankrupt After 2050, ACAP resolved this mothers group were formed Village became disciplined and developed People used to hunt earlier landlords used to gamble and alcoholism was routined many villagers lost their land and houses play cards, made fake documents to take house and lands in 2050 ACAP was eastablished After that, mothers group was formed Gambling was prohibited Hunting animals was restricted Forests was conserved That organization made new rules and regulations Now everthing is okay Womens empowerment is the feature of gurung village Womens are more active than male counterparts Womens are respected by all When mothers are active, village became disciplined Women plays active role in development of village They settle disputes and run homestays I have started homestay 15 years before There is no any issues in running homestays Everything is fine How is the flow of tourists?
