let's go so guys so guys we are uh i'm finally  starting my journey in lebanon   and we are heading to baalbek i don't  know if it's gonna take two or three days   something like that because uh for the first  part of the ride it's a climb of 55 kilometers   from sea level to 2500 meters basically so it's  gonna take quite a long time so let's go to   baalbek and on the way we should see the kadisha  valley and the cedars of god also so let's go so that's where hamed told us that there  is a mosque and there is a church just   next to it and that's the  fortress built by the crusaders so as i was saying i'm starting my my tour  around lebanon hopefully if i stay two months i i can go around all the country but yeah 55  kilometers climb from sea level to 2500 meters   let's do it guys well as you can see it's a christian area  it's funny because i think tripoli was a   a big majority of sunni some muslim  people from the sunni branch and   and here in the hills it looks  like it's a lot of christians oh my god it's insane yeah and as i talking  to you i wanted to tell you uh just uh   what a fact about lebanon which is uh quite  impressive to me so basically in lebanon   you have let's say approximately 7 million  people living but in the 7 million people   only 4 million are lebanese because  you have like 2 million syrian refugees   and approximately 1 million of palestinian  refugees as well can you imagine that's that's   really nuts, it's like almost half of the population  of the country are refugees that's really crazy look at that view well the view is  already almost gone because of the clouds it looks like i found some  food there is a restaurant hello do you have food okay what do you have okay cheese i'll get with cheese manouche with cheese yeah okay  one thank you and do you have a drink yogurt okay oh i think pepsi okay okay okay let's get pepsi to refill   to get some energy and let's there so  manoosh i think is the lebanese pizza i'm too tired to talk so that's the lebanese  style pizza just the paste and cheese fantastic okay back on the road it's getting chilly it's  already i'm already at one thousand meters high   and it's it's getting very chilly ah 500 more meters to climb and  i'm done for today oh my god and i discovered how you say hello here  you just say bonjour like in french and this sign says one of the most beautiful villages of  lebanon oh my god i'm dead it's just climbing   constantly since this morning it's been  three hours i'm just constantly climbing okay i see your first hotel on the way let's go  to ask the price see if we can get a normal hotel   for a good price like hussein on the ship  told me uh that the hotels were very cheap now   but the problem is uh often  if they see you are a foreigner   they increase the price a lot but  still i wanna ask let's ask here maybe it's a little bit fancy but in turkey  those fancy hotels were not expensive so   maybe the fancy hotels are  not expensive also in lebanon how much is it for a room here  uh one night yeah just one night fifty dollars fifty dollars uh and in lebanese uh you have  you have nothing cheaper   one million 250. oh it's  okay it's too expensive thank you let's just keep going and keep asking and maybe at  some point uh i'll find a good price yeah because   also when you you know when you negotiate if  you say it's too expensive and you run away if they are overcharging you they will call you  back and they will say oh let's let's talk about   the price so if you say it's too expensive and  so as i said now it's too expensive i run away   and the guy doesn't say anything it means he  doesn't want to lower the price so so i cannot do   anything about it well i am arriving in the center  and basically it's weird everything is closed okay so actually i am i discovered i am just 10  kilometers from bsharri but the thing is i thought   it was a i had like a another big climb to get  to there but apparently i don't have a climb so   so i'll try to reach it's three  half past three in the afternoon   the sunset is very early here it is at half past  four but uh i think if it's just 10 kilometers   and just uh 300 meters to climb  i might be able to reach um   to reach a bsharri today actually  and that would be great because uh   there are cheap hotels there so  i'll try my luck let's go to bsharri so that's ehden that's the  lebanese garden of Eden only four kilometers left i think  i will make it oh my god what a day   i will have done about 50 kilometers and  i used the both of my batteries entirely what a day oh my god i made it oh my god okay let's find  a find an accommodation now oh my god sorry i'm in the front of the lodge no you you work here yeah yeah okay   okay i would like to stay if it's possible  to know if there is a room okay thank you do you have a reservation no no what's your name yeah why not a lot of climbing yeah I asked for the lodge and the neighbors told me to come  up to their house and now i am   in the house of the neighbors quite unbelievable so that's how you heat you heat  the house with the with the wood oh diesel okay wow fantastic so that's the house of the  neighbors of... good something like green tea okay no  caffeine okay but that sounds good thank you so they want to offer me mint now oh okay yeah so it's the same  uh oh it's the english word yeah mint is good sorry i am very weak because...

the day was hard i come from tripoli today it took you 5 hours, yeah something like that why the qadisha valley yeah why is it famous  why is it a unesco uh actually i don't know a   lot about the subject, they know more okay  yeah so i'll translate it okay he is the one who knows it used to be central uh location to the uh  catholic maronites okay okay those who uh apply   to the rules of maroon okay if you know it  i don't know i don't know i don't know much okay so he's everywhere in the streets on the  road you have many many images of him okay okay   and so he's from this valley  basically uh he's from village okay just i was wondering because i see it's unesco  but i don't know why so i wanted to ask thank you so that's mint right so they're offering offering me an infusion   mint infusion i need it with sugar i  was about to faint before i was like to say hello actually people say bonjour yeah, sometimes like everybody says bonjour since the french protectorate yeah okay yeah how many days you stay in turkey one month and one week something like that    oh it's very beautiful yeah and people are  very friendly also, now there is handmade cake i go down, and i come back yes after okay okay thank you so see  you soon where do i go this way okay what a day okay okay so we are  carrying the bags so i can get my room   and uh get in the room for a 15 room  then i'm gonna join the neighbors again   it's funny to talk in the dark okay so that's  my room in bsharri so the neighbors helped me to   bring all my bags absolutely lovely  my bike is in the garage of the neighbors   and i think i'm just going to take a shower  and uh and head back to the neighbors there to   to go to go to see them they were fantastic and  and i'm not gonna go to the pass tomorrow i'm   gonna stay in the area for a few days and they told me also that the pass is dangerous because   it's too late it's it's already frozen so i'll  probably have to find another way to go to baalbek   maybe head more south through the mountains and  try another pass which is should be less high   and hopefully there uh it's not going to  be dangerous but that's going to be another   story the story of today is the the neighbors  in bsharri, i'm going back to the neighbors now so i guess i just enter so i i am back at the neighbors and uh it's very  funny because uh so he works what's your name paul works also in the army and then so  your... so her husband is here yeah   but her sister husband told me not to go  yeah and he told paul to tell me not to go   and paul is telling me if  you go tomorrow i go with you   basically complicated so so now i'm thinking  i am thinking uh maybe let's go i mean if you   you can do it, before the storm, before the storm  yeah yeah makes sense don't go but then let's go i love this house i'm recording it's all wooden house no just uh just these  layers okay because it's better for winter no so now the the food is coming  so they are offering me uh offering me food i think i don't know  who to to who should i say thank you thank you welcome what's your name my name is micheline very french name it's the basic name in french, micheline so they are offering me very nice  food thank you very much and so that's uh with cheese right yeah  yeah and some vegetables what's that herbs green onions green oh  green onion wow that's very good so bread with cheese and  some vegetables let's try it okay you have tiktok okay let's try it i don't have very good and actually it was cooked it's  very funny because you cooked it on there   yeah it's the traditional stove  okay traditional what okay uh yes so you're easy to cooking to cook to  and to heat the house and everything yeah   well that's great but it's very funny  because actually they put the wood   so you use that to heat to, and to  cook so they put the bread here on   under the under the thing for the tea and  that's how the bread got cooked it's very funny are you grilling meat also on that chicken   potato that's great it have an  oven on the other side oh really oh wow that's fantastic i like the structure of the house this is hot water oh this is hot water for tea for tea for coffee for everything always hot water ready no but i like the structure also of the house because   everybody faces each other so  it's made to talk basically it's very nice okay let's eat and um okay so you see now the potato is getting cooked so this is a traditional house from the region almost all the houses with the same structure this is traditional sauce traditional sauce okay  my sister made it, healthy homemade okay i'll try   it looks good yeah you i i dip it inside  or no half of the potato okay okay okay what's the name of the sauce and this is a chili yeah yeah  you eat the chili just like this not everybody so let's try the potatoes grilled on the, oh it's  hot, grilled on the on the thing with the salsa it's hot okay apparently it's something  very important so i have to record now   okay this one it is the arak, okay okay  sec, without anything okay so okay okay   oh sec you say sec, yeah like this is french okay about this this much okay add some water the magic oh this is i love you, ........ say i love you wow oh my god yes so i need to try the arak a lot of anise oh you taste it it's from grape it's from  grape yeah okay it's good the main ingredient is grape we add some anise that's easier but how do you say i love  you again it's so difficult i love you it's time to go time to go to sleep come tomorrow i will come to take the bike to  go to the cedars yeah okay okay it's cold here in the night i guess so thank you very much for everything  to you and all your family and welcome we do nothing no it's  uh not everybody does that well i guess you can't see but what a sky
