24 Hours In A Luxury Safari Hotel Sri Lanka
i am going to spend the next 24 hours at the grand udawalawe safari resort and i'm going to take you guys all along the experience and yeah in the past weeks you saw me staying in local homestays and villages and today it's time for a little change for one day and i'm super excited and yeah feel free to join the day here today all right we have arrived yeah i got picked up with the shuttle service of the hotel here okay thank you so much for picking me up leave nothing but footprints take nothing but memories that is already a great motto for the start here hello are you running hello sit here okay oh it's been a while since i was last welcomed with a towel reminds me of uh some airlines that are also doing it giving out a fresh towel when you board the plane wow that smells very good actually that's a cold towel refreshing one which is great because it's yet another hot day here in sri hello thank you very much what drink is this just a watermelon yes okay thank you oh yeah i love the watermelon juice here tastes very fresh she will show me the room okay okay thank you very much restaurant right yeah one main restaurant restaurant over there over there 7 30 till 10 o'clock available and tomorrow breakfast 6 30 to 10 o'clock right but yeah let's check out the hotel room the most important part when you are having a nice hotel stay oh looks nice here do you have fishes in here yeah oh yeah i can see some fishes here as well we have 79 rooms 79 rooms in total total under five categories five room categories okay you you have today grand super luxury suite category grand super luxury suite yes treating myself good today oh we have a pool area here yeah we will have a look around the facilities later all right please check the other okay yeah i will make a proper room tour for you in a minute first impression that looks really nice yes thank you okay and we'll go over here oh the bedroom is an extra room here oh lovely oh that looks really nice okay bathroom here and you have a nice balcony i have a balcony on top oh wow it gets better and better here oh my own private balcony oh nice ah and it's in the jungle here right yeah so surrounded by the jungle here now we have the pool area over there to check do we have monkeys here in the trees yes all right so let's have a proper room tour i think there's a lot to explore here let's start here with uh yeah maybe the living room area i have a couch here a little table where i can have meals and dinner what are we having here discover surrounding areas yeah there is a big national park attached here the udawalawe national park which we are going to explore tomorrow morning and that will probably be another video and yeah then i have all the facilities i need here coffee tea we have dilma tea here do my green tea english breakfast tea nes cafe nice and here you also have a in-room dining menu so i first of all i like it that it's separated from the the rest of the room basically so it's like a private um sleeping room here and um yeah have a look at the cute elephant here that looks super lovely right with all the flowers here it looks almost too beautiful to you know destroy it to go to bed later welcome here oh that is a super lovely welcome coming and i just see there's a yeah of course a separate air conditioner one for the room over there and one for the room here we have uh bath robes here of course umbrellas slippers okay so far so good very happy with it and yeah the the private balcony we already saw that but let's have a look at the bathroom because i already see an amazing shower here so first of all your towels of course then we have all kinds of soaps here a sewing kit shower cap probably dental kits toothpaste okay this looks interesting here is this the sink oh okay but why is there water already in the sink probably to look nice as well coming with the flowers okay toilet of course and then yeah look at the shower here a huge walk-in shower and then it's coming from here like a rainfall shower oh wow that looks awesome shampoo oh it looks nice actually here body wash conditioner and body lotion wow okay i'm really really happy with the room by the way i will let you know the full price of my stay here at the end of the video by the way i think i can also enter the balcony here let's see how that works ah yeah the pool area over there which we will have a look at later on and then i really like it it's yeah in the nature here basically and i would really like to see some monkeys here on the on the trees maybe jumping around that would be awesome well really like it really like it here looking forward to my stay here so i am staying here with full board that means breakfast lunch and dinner is included and we're having lunch time now so let's get the first meal in and after the meal after the lunch we're actually going to visit an elephant camp which is basically just around the corner here and where did i come from i don't remember this bridge i think the hotel area is so huge that you can get a little bit lost here i think we came from here oh yeah i remember the pool area um i think they said the resetaurant is at the reception right but now that we are here let's have a first quick look on the pool area looks like a huge pool really really looking forward to jump into there later yeah we have toilets and showers here and now i have to go around this yeah i just arrived and it is a huge area but yeah i think i came from here so i'm having my dessert already here an ice cream and yeah i just had an awesome four course meal here for lunch first of all i was able to choose between different options there was a set menu with many different options i could choose from there were vegetarian options meat options seafood options and i chose as a starter a beef salad which was a great starter then i also got some some bread on the side which was awesome because it was still warm and it tasted really really delicious then i got a mushroom soup before i continued with the main course which was in my case maybe you guessed it i ordered chicken barbecue roasted chicken super delicious very tasty with some french fries on the side and another salad and yeah now i'm having ice cream here the good classic mix chocolate strawberry and vanilla so awesome lunch here and check this out there's a monkey coming to visit me actually i already heard some monkeys on the top there would you like some food as well let's have a quick look and we can see some more so there's one guy here i think another guy over there oh many monkeys here oh that's lovely some monkeys visiting you here nice all right just a short five minute ride from my hotel we can find the elephant transit home is the official name right uh in the camp where i take care of elephants so the entrance fee here is 500 rupee for foreigner i think for for locals it's a little bit less right oh for local it's like 20. but yeah it's of course um as a donation as well so they they use the money to take care of the elephants here so yeah these elephant parks in case you have been to these before it's usually there are good camps and parks and tourist attraction camps which i don't really like to visit where they yeah just have the elephants as a tourist attraction you know so this is not an elephant show it's not a circus you can't can't do elephant riding here or something like that so it's not not that type of camp which is really good so basically what you can do here is just you can watch the animals get fed three times a day they're feeding the elephants here and you can basically just come here if you want to have a look at it which is really nice i really like to just watch elephants because they are majestic uh really cool animals to see so you can have a look how they feed them here and that's basically what you you pay for you pay entrance in order to be able to have a look at them and then of course the money is used for yeah taking care of the elephants and that's also what they are doing here they're taking care of especially many younger elephants if they are injured or sick for example and then it is always the goal to release them later back into the wild because yes we have many wild elephants living especially around this area here in sri lanka so and a few hours later now and before i will tell you what i did in the afternoon here before we're going to have dinner i'm heading to the cocktail bar now maybe i can grab a nice drink nice cocktail let's see what they have yeah check out the pool area in the evening now that looks actually super beautiful with all the lights here now i really love the atmosphere here so i came to the to the bar which is right next to the restaurant okay hello yeah what uh what can you recommend or what is the what choices do i have yeah significance is grand roller dreams okay signature cocktail yes grand roller dreams okay then uh i'm um taking this one taking your recommendation yeah it's not often that you see me uh drinking in my videos but at special occasions here at the lovely hotel why not so what is going to be inside the the cocktail silence yes and white gum white rum and lime juice lime juice and fresh and portia fresh cordial present with paulian okay so yeah iraq i think this is a sri lankan liquor with a coconut it's with coconut right yes made from coconut and soda and soda yeah okay sri lankan cocktail yes okay my first time i'm actually drinking alcohol in sri lanka and this is just lime right yes i love the smell of the fresh limes that smells so fresh you can take sri lankan how much percent alcohol does this have 50 50 yes and 25 50 that's pretty strong every arc has 50 or only this one but every arc is the same or different brand is different yes strength okay okay oh yeah okay there's a kick to it definitely and take nine juice lime juice and then press and put for your cornea what is the name again of this cocktail that's your special the name of the hotel yes branch cocktail the signature cocktail of the hotel here okay let's give it a try there's a kick to it yes but it's very sweet so you don't taste the alcohol that much because of all the sweetness the sugar not actually very refreshing i like the lime cake thank you very much stuart's duty okay so i'm going to enjoy the cocktail here now before i will head over to uh yeah get to dinner so and i am back at the room and it was a long day and here before i will tell you what i just had for dinner let me explain you what i did all day here because um i actually had a great time here let me sit at these rather small chairs here for a tall person like me but um yeah so um i actually use the time in the afternoon to just relax having a good time chill out a little bit that was actually a much needed and the hotel here is great to do exactly that because it's a resort hotel you basically don't have to leave the hotel if you are here on holiday and you just want to have a good time i spent some time at the awesome pool area here of course in the afternoon but if you want to do something else they also have a gaming room here for example where you can play some pool some board games chess darts and next to the gaming room there's also a little gym so if you want to get a workout in while you're here on holiday and you can also do that and um then i just had the cocktail you saw that and after that i had an amazing dinner it was once again a la carte dinner sometimes they also offer buffet style dinner here depends on how many guests are at the hotel so for dinner i had a chicken salad as a starter and after that i had a chicken soup which was both super delicious nothing to complain about that and then believe it or not i actually choose the vegetarian option as a main course so no chicken no meat as a main course i choose a pasta creamy pasta with vegetables very delicious as well but then the highlight for me was the dessert which was a mousse au chocolate super delicious absolutely to die for and i also tried ginger beer at the dinner so i actually decided to try ginger beer now i heard this is a very popular drink here in sri lanka actually you guys in the comment section recommended to try ginger beer a lot in my in the comments section of my kottu video you guys told me that it's a very famous drink to eat or to drink when you're eating kothu so i'm excited i put something in my glass here now and it is it is called ginger beer but it is not really alcohol that's what you guys told me in the comment section so let's give it a try um uh something sweet there is somehow a spicy a little spicy kick to it is that possible maybe that's the ginger inside interesting drink but i can yeah i can i can see it together with some kottu it's a yeah a little uh extra kick to your mouth i'm not really sure how to describe it but yeah delicious sweet refreshing drink i would say with a little spicy kick sounds like a weird combination but somehow it actually tastes not bad yeah that was my day here and of course i will tell you tomorrow morning how the night here was and how the breakfast is going to look like so i'm going to bed now see you in the morning good morning guys and you have to check out the shower here because this is one of the most amazing showers i ever used wow the rainfall shower here and it is storm water pressure it's a hot water wow i absolutely love the shower in the morning so and now a proper good morning guys and yeah i had an amazing night here the bed was super comfy a great sleep i absolutely love the pillows as well and then yeah after the shower in the morning i went to the breakfast which was a buffet style breakfast basically everything you can ask for western food options local sri lankan food options they had an omelette station there where um you can get a fresh made omelette which was super delicious so food rice here i think i gained a few kilos over the past 24 hours you saw the awesome lunch i had the dinner was awesome the breakfast was huge so wow the food here has been amazing in the past 24 hours and yeah overall i am super happy with my stay here i loved just the whole area of the hotel if you walk around you're always surrounded by so many trees you really feel like you're in the middle of the nature here i mean here as well the view from the balcony is just trees and trees and trees and you hear animals you see monkeys in the trees so if you are a fan of nature then this hotel is really a great option for you and also in the morning i actually have been on a safari early morning we started at 6 00 am here in the hotel and i filmed a whole video there so that's going to be the next video so stay tuned
