and what is this is 70 no 1662 Cadillac Fleetwood and we're about to get a ride in it we're not leave from here we're buying stuff from the flea market we're doing now you're definitely sleeping over welcome back everyone to how not to travel America a one-of-a-kind Adventure series that follows two Plucky Brits and their quest to travel from Boston in the north all the way down to Miami in the South as spontaneously and creatively as possible without getting shot Greg and I had been battling America's car Centric infrastructure for over two weeks now and over the course of this time had come to the realization that biking hiking and messing around on boats as hilarious as it may be wasn't getting us very far we needed to make serious ground now but how could we do this and maintain that sense of adventure public transport was ridiculously convoluted and painfully conventional and hitchhiking 500 miles south while technically possible felt too ambitious and potentially quite sketchy this left us with the unavoidably obvious option of the motor vehicle the thinking was that there was still plenty of Adventure to be had this way Not only would we be free to explore any Country Road Town landscape or festivity that we could point to on a map but we could sleep in it and live out of it too we could go old and cheap which would add character and trepidation to the trip it would be like a classic American road trip we figured you rejoin us in the quaint town of Waynesboro Virginia where Greg and I are excitedly commencing our search for our very own motor how's the car hunt going Greg I found this red red sorry velvet seated Buick well that is so American 1993 Buick Regal seems a lot to pay for us 1993 Buick Regal yeah but we will play every time our initial browse on trusty Craigslist turned up a few nearby results but what we found was that the type of old clapped out car that we were after was a lot more expensive than we thought anything less than two thousand dollars didn't seem to be roadworthy this made us rethink things breaking down 200 miles down the road and having to abandon the car was something that we initially said would be pretty funny but at these prices not so much the cars that occupied the three thousand dollar Mark however were enticing and plentiful and this gave birth to another idea she said I am absolutely on board to help you with that I know you're busy in your trouble so maybe once you are settle for the evening we can chat and make up a plan plan was to get a subscriber way down south preferably in South Carolina or north Florida to sell the car for us after we'd gone this way we could get the ideal car recoup the money for it and not run the risk of failing to sell it at the end with a chat with a young lady called Megan scheduled for 7pm it was now time for some nerve-wracking calls with some insurance brokers yeah I'm gonna legally own it while we're using it and then we're gonna sell it on afterwards did you say 489 dollars for the six months that would be incredible I'd been told that it might be incredibly expensive to ensure myself on an American car seeing as I was a left-handed driver but for a random three thousand dollar car we found on Craigslist we managed to get a surprisingly good quote from a broker that specialized in foreign expat drivers so far everything was going to plan Greg's rightly pointed out that we're probably massively too late with this because we're probably on episode five or six now I don't know but we thought it would be a good idea seeing as Wales and England are in the USA's group in the World Cup while we beat you mate three now uh like in hindsight yeah yeah anyway if it's a USA soccer fan out there on the streets today they might pick up on it and we might be best of Chums they might even give us a car yeah they might give me a free drink and kick you out the bar donning the shirts of our respective national teams we strolled into town to see if we could widen the search right it's a long shot but we're gonna go and check out a couple of car dealerships which we actually noticed on our walk into the town just see if they've got an old Buick that could be a Buick right there or a Lincoln yeah um yeah just see if they've got anything cheap for us yeah yeah oh it's a Mercury oh man it's gonna buy me a Mercury baby cruise up and down this road that is so American I cannot stress that enough almost as American as the guy who owned it yep okay okay that's could we have a closer look at it yeah it's going a lot better than I thought this is going too well the first place we stopped at yeah oh mate I need to do that classic Danish thing I'd been entrusted with the keys but could I put them to good use I mean where's the gear where's the gears there's got to be somewhere you just need to put it into drive I guess maybe using this oh no that's something else you're in Reverse yeah yeah it's going is going mate I have driven an automatic before however however I'm not seeing any evidence of that at this stage and we are driving a Mercury mate should do one how's it feeling mate oh it's really boring isn't it even without a seatbelt it feels like it's going lovely isn't it oh this is so fun this is so exciting this is the first one we've been to I mean I can't believe they even I just thought it'd be like we haven't got anything below ten thousand but my God we were wrong then the man showed us another American Beauty Chrysler that's pretty American that is roomy isn't it car number two this is the Chrysler you can already hear the Eagles coming out of there mate the fact that we could sleep in this put all them seats down just get up just get the inflatable mattress yeah I mean the aircon is absolutely coming in this as well yeah so is the actual place the car dealership situation had already exceeded expectations but it got better so you see that number plate that white thing on the back of that Nissan it's a number plate it's a temporary number plate so we don't need to register the car but we do need to ensure it yeah so we're gonna have to bend Johnson yeah but then Edwards a place out but I really think we'll be coming back here though to be honest for one of those two cars yeah sadly Mr Edwards the owner of The Marvelous Motors we'd remarked out the day before didn't seem to be home we had a quick Snoop around the back just in case there was any Workshop activity look at that but the only activity was around this Taco Stand where we began chatting to a couple of intrigued local customers the whole point of this trip is being spontaneous and right meeting new people and you're filming the whole thing yeah we are yeah all that cool Paulie and his friend Ray seemed vaguely amused to have bumped into two British Travelers in such an unassuming spot but what we didn't realize was that we could not have bumped into two better blokes to help us in our Quest you know you probably have no idea what all that means it's essential Parts I don't know when you need one need it like tomorrow or the day after yeah my guy's coming to work on it I think this evening poorly happened to be a huge car Enthusiast and collector who frequently bought and sold Motors his main passion was classic cars just like the stunning Cadillac we'd fantasized about when we first arrived but he had recently acquired a couple of other much more affordable Motors that in an amazing Stroke of Luck he seemed to be willing to part with yep here it is so you are selling it yeah also if you want to ride with me to look at it you're more than welcome to do that spontaneously now I know what you're thinking probably shouldn't jump into a car with two random blokes and go back to their house 25 miles away in the middle of nowhere but we were confident enough that poorly was indeed a good egg to pick what was without question The Adventurous path but with poorly here okay yeah and what is this a 70 no 1662 Cadillac Fleetwood yeah and we're about to get a ride in it we've got Ray in the back let's do it this is a privilege no even the door is like The Vault of a bank yes oh my God yeah they're so heavy it turns out we would be returning to the car dealership but in quite different circumstances than what we'd imagined 110 000 yeah it's like an old taxi car bro oh yeah and the Chrysler's just the other side of that oh yeah Town and Country yeah yeah you wouldn't want to try that to Florida no no why not their Transmissions are very looking there's another one right there yeah that's the other Mercury do you reckon bad move to buy from here who do we believe I mean do we believe the car salesman or the the guy on the street leaning towards you even you don't know but we can trust you I hope so yeah I wouldn't be driving you to my house and what a ride it was Sun blazing arms sprawled out over the tank-like doors of the Cadillac taking in the sights of poorly and Rey's beloved Virginia including several Vineyards and a very special barbecue joints owned and ran by the man himself in the Nelson and Albemarle counties perhaps even the whole state of Virginia How could a man with such glowing reviews be a murderer we concluded but then Paulie said he wanted to show us something so what's this you're showing us no but where are we thankfully the only baby blue hiding behind these shutters was another captivating Cadillac yeah it's beautiful that's a 72. the reason I bought it is because of this oh that sound with one finger Paulie's passion for these marvelous American machines was crystal clear and when we arrived at his remote Homestead we were treated to more yeah I'm beginning to see a lot of old cars going on oh wow here we go I have big cars big American this is excellent oh Kamina I've heard of those see a lot of these things we don't have in the UK at all no tucked away under an old sheet in a barn the pieste resistance that is just what this is a 57 Fleetwood Jesus 57. and that's Tahitian Coral that's the original color oh my God and that's where the gas goes in and that's the exhaust at the bottom yeah that is fantastic we'd seen the main prize but what could we be driving away with that's it that could be ours for the right price you are looking at a 2003 Ford Windrush with removable seats working AC and a feature that even the hardiest of car collectors had never seen in his life it's a VHS player and if you pull it the whole thing comes out that is I didn't even I didn't know they made it I didn't dream you could have a VHS player in a car and then the screen is here before you watch it not these days anyway yeah yeah yeah that's crazy let's go to a car Boot and buy some vhs's purchased from a trusted acquaintance for his own personal use carting supplies to the barbecue joint petrol head poorly assured us that despite the 200 000 miles on the clock this motor ran as smooth as you like and could probably do that distance again in her lifetime he then kindly topped up the oil fluids and freon for us before introducing us to his 92 year old dad Bob he knows about cars Bob despite his ripe old age was running pretty smoothly himself and quite frankly so was this day so it's just me in the car at the moment I'm quite sure what's going on but I just can't believe what a day we've had really we just strolled out expecting not a lot to be honest just to get some food and so pester some car dealerships just for a bit of content really but the seedings that have followed yeah just chancing upon someone with the perfect car uh is um quite amazing and we're going with a better option on this road just kind of stay on your side especially going over blind Hills yeah and driving on the left right yes we are away here we go does this car have a name Paula uh Victoria Victoria oh Victoria that's a good name Victoria WinStar oh look they're in the golf buggy yeah waiting on it there they are they're the Lots they're very relieved yeah how are you feeling about that I really like it I think I think we're gonna buy it yeah I think I'm gonna buy it I think it's brilliant take it back to the UK with you oh yeah ship it over passed your board ship and then right after having said our goodbyes to The Lovable Ray so you're right [Music] Carter B had one more little surprise in store for us towards family quartet the Schwartz family quartet Just Over Yonder well we'll have to give that a listen that's going to be on repeat down to Miami I think [Music] beautiful homes [Music] [Music] that was that isn't that amazing we had a laugh in the last episode that obtaining the blankets was in the top 10 moments of the trip but I think for me this right here might take the top spot discovering those beautiful crisp Southern harmonies with poorly who had also never heard of them with everything else that was happening to us that day is everything we had in mind for this trip and more long before we'd had our feel of that sweet country air it was time to head back to Waynesboro where we'd meet up with Paulie the next day to pay him and register the car on the way back there Paulie showed us where he really does do all his cooking it's just what you need walk right up to this window right here and I'm like what yeah no clam yeah sadly we weren't going to get a chance to sample the succulent strands of pork that Paulie's pig out had become famous for but we were given the honor of making our own special mark on the place yeah they do my school books are full of dicks big dicks all sorts where are you guys oh we're up here thank you well let me get your info yeah yeah we need to do that and I'll give you mine yeah yeah we'll touch base in the morning yeah awesome that is above and beyond thank you so much thank you thank you guys that I can help out yeah that's exciting it is it's very exciting exciting I had a boring week in Costa Rica so I'm glad to be good at something very exciting right and like I say it's it is what it is I've had it a day yeah so yeah I'm confident that'll make it yeah so am I yeah I'm very confident I'm selling it as is yeah long as you know that yeah that's fine okay that's fine super duper thanks and she blows oh wow what a diamond geyser wow you see his top smoke quite ridiculous I think it's more this top but yeah oh there we go what what do we aim for on this trip organic but just the manner in which it happened we literally stopped by the second dealership nobody there that little taco place and then just two chaps outside struck up conversation that's led to about a three-hour Escapade of going round in in Old Cadillacs you know trustworthy bloke that's yeah I'm much happier much more confident getting it a vehicle from him than a dealership let alone a Craigslist person I believe that the car dealership which I was all a buzz about yes it was now just like a [ __ ] they'll be going like I wonder if those bars are going back they seemed pretty Keen yeah yeah I reckon we had them maybe they met Paulie hope they didn't meet falling yeah yeah exactly because he gels vehicles that fit for the queen a word I'll tell you who we're indebted to yeah the taco guys because if it weren't for them being the best tacos around I don't think Paulie and Ray would have driven all that way you can picture him going she'll go to the tackle place today oh yeah that's a great job he said they were incredible so really we need to go down there and at least buy a taco of them a premature release of Celebration was followed by a promising phone call to Megan the young lady who would be helping us sell the car a few States further south [Music] sure we can definitely make it work and we are so excited for this opportunity bye bye bye bye it's another box ticked the next morning however there was troubling news from the insurance company we don't have anything or War really nothing Matt the bloke who we'd spoken to yesterday morning gave us no reason to believe that we wouldn't be able to insure a car but he had now vanished and been replaced by a messenger who told us that it was now impossible without actually giving a reason why eventually the girl did agree to get Matt to ring me back but it wasn't looking good so like literally the first hurdle looks bad now let alone the others a lot hanging in the balance man yeah bank transfer DMV and now Insurance yeah we just want the car so bad at breakfast we got the eagerly awaited call from Matt and it's Tom uh the British guy you spoke to yesterday Matt confessed to us that because our trip was so short his managers believed that we would simply cancel the policy after two weeks and get a full refund making it pointless for them yeah I understand that but what if I don't cancel it what if I just play the whole six months my offer to pay for the whole six months which was the shortest period that they did offer up front and with no chance of cancellation seemed to resolve the situation yeah I mean yeah right now I just I'd be over the moon if we can get anything so yeah relievingly to say the least the deal was done but that was just the start of what would turn out to be one of the most tormenting administrative mornings the town of Waynesborough had ever seen good morning Paulie how are you today [Music] we're all good thank you we've got the insurance sorted so it's just a matter of payment now so um which should be absolutely fine but that didn't quite turn out to be the case an exacerbating series of calls to the bank taught us that large payments abroad could take two or three days to go through which was not ideal for poorly also that there was no chance of me withdrawing the required amount in cash and it didn't look great from Paulie's end either I called the bank and she's a little freaked out about wiring money from London to my bank despite this Hawley drove over in Victoria with Bob following closely behind and after trying and failing a couple of other money wiring methods we headed to the bank Paulie told us that Bob's driving strategy was to pull out whenever he wanted and exclaim they've got breaks when questioned sadly Greg Switched Off the GoPro just moments before that exact scenario played out the best we could do in the bank was to transfer poorly all the money and print off some sort of proof of payment sent I assumed that the two or three day delay would make us stay in Waynesboro a long one however it's your baby okay so you do your insurance is on it yeah yeah the insurance is done yeah all right but I thought maybe you wanted to keep hold of it until the money was in Europe oh I think I think we're pretty good sorry I'm filming that but thanks to Paulie's kindness and Trust all that was left to do now was to register the car in my name at the DMV something that poorly had assured us would be the easiest part of the whole process however this was based on the dozens of times that he'd registered a vehicle for himself and not for two visiting vagabonds street address quite quickly in this slightly intimidating Bureau we came across a pretty significant snag really they're just traveling and need a car yeah so they have to there's nothing they can't do they're going to they're in Florida they can title Florida as you can see by the looks on mine and Greg's faces here this sternly delivered bombshell seemed definite and as a result pretty devastating everything we've been through over the past two days including a pointless 850 dollar payment to the insurance company was all about to amount to nothing and we were going back to square one we thought but poorly without so much of a moment's hesitation offered us a lifeline or something to put on it to go to Florida my plates I mean that's between you and them yeah we didn't really understand what was going on at the time but what poorly had agreed to do for us after a quick confirmation call with his insurance company was nothing short of incredible they're going to drive there on my insurance yeah they'll just transfer and get the tags in the title down there so we wait till we keep the tags on yeah until we've gone with them to the DMV yes then we get our tags take yours off then mail them directly to yourself before we had a chance to process everything we found ourselves saying our goodbyes to poorly and Bob right there and then on that baking hot DMV tarmac yeah definitely yeah yeah yeah thanks so much yeah really really yeah yeah see you later see you guys see ya thank you the roller coaster of emotions that we'd been through that morning was over and Greg and I were yet again left to try and make sense of it all a lot of pressure on me not to crash now well mate we are driving in the U.S somehow I

don't yeah under a car we don't fully own oh no I don't know we're not registered to us and it's yeah not under our insurance so we yeah almost I mean it's just so complicated get some clarity on exactly what position we're in if we are stopped because at the moment we're so in between things we're like car buying Purgatory or something yeah if a cop pulls us over at some point I don't know what the hell I mean the narrative is just so convoluted I don't know where we'd start we may not have known much but we did know three things my payment to the insurance company was still completely pointless Megan would now have to register the car in her name before selling it on and that poorly whose taste for food rivaled his taste for cars was a hero one thing to add his sister how thrusting oh my God to do this for us he's basically just said look you're driving my place to Florida met us yesterday one of the nicest floats I've ever yeah I mean that doesn't show that the car's in a decent Nick I don't know what else will so true but also that good sorts are still out there yeah basically for us to be able to drive a car from A to B and insure it legally basically have to rely on someone else putting us on their insurance and that's happened to have been a random stranger that's a good will of his heart right right quite astonishing and heartwarming we want to see a lot of love football in the comments poorly may have single-handedly saved our trip and completely restored our faith in humanity in the process but he wasn't the only gentleman after our own Hearts we'd become quite friendly with the hotel owner during all of our comings and goings and he also had a pretty good offer for us hello swimming pool and have fun 7 38 is good eight is perfect isn't it thanks man see you later I mean what can you say I don't get it no right let's go rifle a football into the top corner of these nets because that's all I've wanted to do this whole time though so before our little anniversary party by the pool it was time to put our shirts to good use and satisfy a particularly strong craving [Music] [Music] oh the challenge was to see which nation could score the best goal but after a Bright Start All We seemed to be able to do was blast the ball over the bar and into Oblivion the more we did this the more knackered and frustrated we got and before we knew it Darkness was nearly upon us and our time was nearly up at this point we just wanted to score one good goal each Greg almost brought the house down with this stunningly struck volley oh my but had to call it quits with this tidy finish I was yet to get the better of my frustration and it all came down to my final shot I'm gonna write calling tonight yeah oh yes last kick of the day mate [ __ ] it up that's it so this is an anniversary party of you running this place yes one year One Year and may I say what a great place you run yeah thank you yeah lovely establishment with lovely people yeah that's what it's all about friendly staff yeah great beers yeah it was a really lovely way to Mark the end of our time in Waynesborough and so kind of the owner and his family to have us there the food went down an absolute treat after our sweaty shooting session and as did the liquor provided by John here a really sound bloke with a truly inspirational life story this is what this is what I mean that's a good public Dom yeah 10 out of 10. thank you the next morning just as Paulie's money went through the two of us felt a fresh sense of excitement and Adventure right we're on the road now Sorry by the uh El Salvadorian MS-13 MS-13 gang member and his bullet bullet screw car we've got some serious ground to make now even today we've got 200 miles yeah we're aiming for Mount Airy North Carolina but first we need to hit a flea market yeah to get some well to add to our tape collection which is just that and we need to get a mattress for the back so we can sleep in here a couple of pillows and a blanket and that's about it well there's one more thing but it's young man here's birthday today well I didn't want to say yeah so pretty old I'm going to give the age 28. so let's see what birth the extra pays we can get into mate yeah can't wait to see what you've got ah Chuck E cheese Market hi how you doing well how are you good thank you okay the CD Hunt is on what have we got Greggy oh it doesn't look good Jessica Simpson pass oh Barry Manilow oh pass after a good search the only decent CDs we could find was squeeze not very American but that is really good great band and Nelly Furtado better than nothing the lady initially said she had no cassettes but a Rummage in one of the new donation boxes produce this okay they've got one cassette Pure Prairie League two-lane Highway 1975 Kentucky moonshine Harvest Kansas City Southern literally the most American thing I've ever seen yeah mate we gotta get there so we've just been to the thrift store and we've come out with three things probably the most varied mix you could ever possibly conceive squeeze Nelly Furtado Pure Prairie dump League foreign car park huh we're parking for the flea market yeah wrong wrong car park you are drunk no no no not at all I did what you are doing that is a private property oh sorry sorry we're going now we just try to go to the flea market so I know what you are doing so we'll just leave from here we're buying stuff from the flea market do not be as smart that's what we're doing donuts we're going that was recording so good don't worry about that what an angry angry man I know guaranteed credit approval don't go to see him oh the villain I know what you're doing well what are we doing exactly you know what I'm gonna finish the uh the review sure Prairie League's country music there we go well we are on the road officially very different to what we've been doing before different in a good way in a way where we have so much more flexibility yeah capability to just go where we want yeah it feels like the the trip has really shifted into the second phase we're traveling the states how it's really designed to be traveled by automobile it's a good job because we've got a lot of ground to make to be honest do you know what we need to do Greg I think we need to take these much loved guys out yeah and we need to put in Pure Prairie League we'd inherited a gem in the Schwartz family singer tape but nothing could have prepared us for what this tape had in store I can't remember the last time I pulled the tape in it's been a long time hasn't it there we go [Music] oh [Music] [ __ ] it out I wasn't expecting this this is good [Music] some men around [Music] yes what a find any tape in the shop [Music] beautiful [Music] low expectations were probably a factor but we were absolutely Blown Away by our new tape which inspired us to take the most minor back roads that we could possibly find that headed vaguely South and we are already turning around hopelessly lost so what you think is a road you get to it and it's an overgrown trail that you can't even go up unfortunately we might have to slightly bigger roads I think yeah so much to the relief of this man that's exactly what we did heading south towards the city of Roanoke where we had lunch and marveled at more of Victoria's technological capabilities that is not ideal before slicing our way through more idyllic Virginian Countryside heading for the North Carolina border stopped briefly in the Blue Ridge Mountains to quench our thirst for more country music [Music] and in about the same time as it took me to find reverse gear we found ourselves passing the many antique and thrift stores that lined the 52 Highway into North Carolina there you go Surry County and Mount Airy [Music] and then get a birthday beer exactly the reason we'd picked Mount Airy as our halfway stop-off to Colombia was because Google said that there was some sort of Festival on we had no idea what Mayberry Days festival was when we arrived all we kept seeing was these black and white police cars full of tourists we followed these tourists into the information center where a local lady informed us that everything revolved around a legendary 60s sitcom called The Andy Griffith Show the star of which being from this small town of ten thousand and the show being set here sure once she'd overcome her astonishment that neither of us had heard of the show she told us about a band who were playing over at the town's Amphitheater armed with this information we went to Walmart to build ourselves a bed to cover Victoria's worryingly colored stains soaked in the atmosphere some more and looked for a place to grab a pre-concert birthday pint and a bite to eat introducing the loaded goat now I know what you're thinking not another bar not another Tom and Greg accidental piss-up do not worry you are soon gonna see that this place was a little bit different okay thank you sir at 32 years of age I definitely felt younger so I turned to the lady next to me for some reassurance it's my birthday today [Music] early 50s oh how old do you think I am thank you really wow little suspicions that I was now an old get well and truly confirmed it was time for the next quirky character to make their mark on the evening Goma could you give us a little uh you know sentence from the show sure sure turns out this wasn't the real Gomer but an amateur actor who had been coming here for 28 years to entertain Festival goers but could he do a British accent lovely time the owner of the bar then befriended us through the medium of complementary shots and urged us not to attend the gig on the other side of town but to stay for the infamous Thursday night karaoke at around the same time an out-of-town mother and daughter Duo dropped in for a quick bite to eat before their drive home oh sound for your birthday you ready happy birthday happy happy birthday happy happy day hey but that was more you could go anytime you'd like okay [Music] birthday to you happy birthday happy birthday to you I'll drink today the biggest birthday surprise however was yet to come it's me yeah yeah he's gonna sing as well oh [Applause] [Laughter] I'm too full [Applause] Tommy Boy [Music] one of the few benefits of editing these videos myself is that I get to leave out anything that could embarrass me [Music] thankfully on this occasion Greg gave me a much more valid reason to fast forward to the end [Applause] [Music] [Applause] what I hadn't realized In the Heat of the Moment was that Greg had gifted me so much more than perfect harmony earlier that afternoon we'd visited an incredible thrift store where I'd gazed excitedly at the toy cars amongst other things remembering this Greg snuck off from the bar pretending to speak to Ella on the phone and bought me my very own Mayberry Days police car foreign [Music] as I nursed Greg's lovingly presented Pudding we enjoyed a whole range of Killer Karaoke acts first you had this guy's gorgeous rendition of REO Speedwagon [Music] you had the dynamic mother and daughter Duo who much like ourselves had already sacked off their original plans and Roy Orbison even returned from the grave to perform one more song but the standout for me was a self-proclaimed redneck with the voice of an Angel called Erin foreign 's incredible whilst chatting with Aaron on one of his occasional trips to the bar it suddenly hit me I have to sing a country duet with this guy they didn't have any Pure Prairie League so he agreed on my second favorite country band of all time [Applause] everything [Music] how are you feeling this morning Tom yep we'd gone overboard yet again in fact we ended up staying in there well past Closing Time goofing around with speed wagon it's not quite that hard so it's mostly the way you enunciate certain lessons and the rat man hello Governor we look at spot on t two local band members who drew heavy influence from spinal tap we knew that our novelty britishness would help us along on our trip but that night we were treated like royalty free drinks and sides and just generally a great deal of fuss and fanfare [Music] those are we left Mount Airy somewhat cloudy headed but with a good hearty taste in our mouths of what the South had to offer goodbye Mount Airy back onto the highway to make some serious ground 200 miles of green Caroline and Countryside now stood between us and the city of Columbia where the wildest party of the trip loomed large on our Horizon luckily we had the perfect remedy to that distressing thought [Music] [Music] [Music] no scrapers peeking out that is a huge Lake that's a normal oh it is I'm glad we're not on a boat I won't lie yeah oh wow that was at the beginning not the end of this trip yeah as cherished as our time with Elizabeth was we couldn't help but chuckle at just how much more ground we were making now the only caveat was it didn't feel very adventurous we would need to make up for this later on first though it was time to make up for not visiting Paulie's Pig Out by stopping off at what appeared to be a highly rated southern food joint like the vegetable yeah yeah this was free wasn't it we've been there five minutes and we've already had a free side so these guys recommend yeah it was instantly clear why these fellas had made this joint their regular eating place the food was incredibly tasty and the staff were some of the friendliest people you're likely to meet one demographic of people we had been Keen not to meet again were the police as we still weren't a hundred percent sure whether we were legally driving the car unfortunately for us Donuts were on the menu can I just say this is our first time in South Carolina yeah aside from the food being incredible they were the nicest people I know we'd been told by a couple of people in Philadelphia that Southerners would appear super friendly and hospitable but that a lot of it was false so far on our journey South all we'd encountered was genuine friendliness and we were hoping that that was going to continue in our next theater of revelry Columbia thank you hey move it [ __ ] quality we're back very very surprised if it tops the last one oh yeah worth a try not a chance let's go next yeah oh no sorry that was the other week um what are we doing Greg well we've come into an absolute Melting Pot of Madness I've got to say this is a car park we just tent upon tent as far as the eye can see of people just drinking and eating and partying and for just preparing to go to a game yeah it's booze filled it's full of young attractive people including us of course and we're just going to try and join in with parties that is our plan now we do have an inn I know we like to do things organically but we do have an inn at one of the frats Ella's little brother has got us wristbands to get into one of the frats so that's our Inn but then me and Greg are going to do what we do best and just mingle charm people and just see what happens see where the Knight takes us basically yeah and maybe we'll go to the game but something tells me swimming tells me be well you'll be in that bush ultimate goal for tonight guys there is potential for us to complete one of our challenges which is to chug a beer a red cup party American Pie that sort of thing that's the stereotype we have in our heads there's a red cup already succeeded we've succeeded already okay we're at the Frat Lots see what this is all about we've heard big things [Applause] the Frat lot was chaotic and loud with each individual frat or sorority trying to drown the next one out creating a cacophony of noise the other odd thing we noticed was that there was loads of parents there I mean it was parents day but still there was something strange about seeing drunk moms vigorously reliving their Golden Years alongside their daughters despite this me and Greg still felt quite old amongst the groups of scurrying teenagers so when we located our frat beers were needed to make us care less then long before we felt drunk enough to join in with this [Music] the beers in the Frat ran out so we went off in search for more during this search we actually bumped into a friend of ours granted we'd only met him the night before playing pool but still after an unsuccessful search we returned to the frat here we scrounged whatever alcohol we could find [Music] and tried our best to blend in with the party even if we were wearing completely the wrong colors [Music] Jesus then everyone left we weren't completely sure where they went but presumably they were going to watch the game which suited us as we just got word from Ella that a legend of a little brother had fixed us up with tickets but why haven't we chugged a beer yet I hear you ask that is a good question after all we had just been to a college party and there were Red Cups present the simple answer is that this wasn't the type of party that we had in mind for the challenge and we believed that we could find one that was we would continue that search after the game right now we were more than happy to find out what college football was all about and why they needed a stadium bigger than Old Trafford to do it in right here Go game caught [Music] [Music] there's a lot of noise going on guys oh right I don't know if you can hear me right now but me and Greg were just saying this is Matt this is really bad like everything about tonight's experience has just been mad before in real yeah like I just look at the size of this band there's got to be 200 people in this marching band it's like a small army much like at the baseball game but this time for no real reason me and Greg mostly wandered around the stadium sitting in as many different sections as we could sometimes being removed from them in the process in the end we got tired of doing this and decided to sit down and really get stuck into the game I tried to get a chant going during the break but not many people seem to share my enthusiasm we also noticed that dancing to Darude Sandstorm seemed to be a popular thing amongst Gamecocks fans so we gave that a go instead [Music] and in the process managed to clear an entire stand of people I will admit that we could have been more focused on watching the game and less focused on filming stupid Clips but on a serious note we were genuinely wowed by the sheer spectacle and event of this college football game and despite the many beers it is something we'll never forget I'm afraid to say though things didn't really go to plan after this after discovering completely empty tailgate Lots we waited ages for a taxi into the city where we were eager to link back up with some frat heads and hopefully get invited back to a house party the most happening bar we could find at 12 30 a.m was this pull bar and guess who was in there you are soculus yes you'll follow us I just want to let you know this is an operation that was clearly is orchestrated by the United States government and I am following it yeah this is a 10-4 around here [Laughter] come on Greg yes yes fine they didn't even see it they're not even watching and just like our Victory on the pool table our hunt for red cup Madness ended in underwhelming fashion to our amazement not one Colombian drinking hole stayed open after 1 30 a.m and we

were forced to strike up conversation with drunken revelers on the street amazingly enough we did manage to get invited back to some random guy's house where we chilled for a couple of hours and had a few beers before the guy in question suddenly realized that he'd watched my videos there is no way I am [ __ ] hell is well dude I have I pay for the [ __ ] Geo guesser because of you no not again wizard right and you just offered in to sleep on your sofa didn't even know his name seriously you didn't recognize it I have to text some people I remember so nice to meet you dude you're the [ __ ] man this is what you call organic okay look now you're definitely sleeping over this hilarious moment provided us with an uplifting end to what was quite a mixed evening the tailgate and the football game were a fascinating experiences but a poorly executed game plan and a clumsy oversight had resulted in another half completed challenge we had fun though and what's more we wouldn't have even made it here if it wasn't for the real star of this show poorly thanks again for everything buddy basically there's a hurricane coming ah um it's not ideal because there are tornadoes watch out for the Gators mate where the [ __ ] do we go now take heed everyone this is how you don't Travel America [Music] foreign [Music]
