unlocking new opportunities for channel Partners like you these groundbreaking Technologies are not only transforming the way we live and work but also creating Innovative Pathways for expanding your service portfolios and driving Revenue growth today we'll dive into how you can capitalize on these Trends leveraging emerging markets and position your business at the Forefront of this exciting transformation today's presenter is sha Vanderhoof sha is a seasoned senior Global business development manager with over 20 years of experience in the technology sector particularly within the it Channel Sean has carved out a niche in the data center technology and Trends establishing himself as an expert in this Dynamic field Sean I'll hand the call over to you now thanks Kelly appreciate it and um happy holidays to everyone joining we appreciate you giving us a few minutes before you enjoy the time uh with your family so as Kelly had mentioned we're kind of talking about three different uh Evolutions that are sort of happening at once and AI is probably more known to this group but there's a lot of other things between energy bioengineering that's driving Investments that are calling for this specific specific channel to be utilized whether it's Services product Hardware Etc the entire industry is kind of being driven by the needs in these spaces so we're going to dive into that and hopefully you can see how Panduit is really a perfect partner for you as a physical infrastructure partner in this whole AI generation so with that we'll drive in we'll dive in with a pretty uh groundbreaking question uh if you do have an answer you can put it in the chat Kelly is monitoring it for us but what is something that can only be changed but cannot be created or destroyed Kelly let me know if we have any teachers pets please okay I'm watching the chat box and I'll give everyone a Hint it is conveniently also in the title of our presentation But but so it's energy right energy comes from the sun plants the Earth and really the whole purpose of it is how do we harness it how do we utilize it how can we take advantage of something like the sun and that's what we're trying to do with solar and there's nuclear uh Evolutions that are happening as well but really specifically the the sun puts off enough energy to the Earth in an hour that could actually power the entire planet for a year and just kind of think about that as we go through this you don't have to be like a solar uh whiz kit or anything just to understand that energy in particular is becoming so vital with our Evolution with AI That's driving some of the data center needs that being able to harness it is really going to be a GameChanger for uh for companies moving forward so couple other things right so we've got our three Evolutions but artificial intelligence and biotech engineering as well AI just looking at the spending you know 65 billion SP spent through the first quarter of 2020 over a 10-year period and that's essentially going to double that's where the Investments are and they're going into companies in the USA China uh in particular that are actually working hand inand to to build these Technologies to make Co companies more efficient in the way that they operate and they're coming to this space to you guys to help them along that Journey biotech engineering is something I think is incredibly interesting it probably doesn't fall speciic specifically on this group but there are there's so much money going into this space that we'll tie into in a bit that the actual integration and it Channel Market is is where they're coming because these are AI Journeys uh 99.9% of all DNA is actually the same it's that 0.1% that they're working on uh that really makes us all unique and if you think about it it's been around forever it's wine making is a perfect example of it and it's really just evolved me we're at the point now where you hear about like cloning mice but now it's we're creating Cancer Treatments insulin food uh and kind of the uh the sky is the limits for where this goes but the important thing to just remember is that the Investments and the dollars are going into this space and that's what matters how do we help folks achieve their respective Journey so like I said we have these three evolutions going on at once we're pretty used to one going on Industrial Revolution the do com boom I in particular throw virtualization in there as well so there's three things and they're kind of all utilizing Ai and AI is really what is escalating it all but you look at energy we've all heard about solar and you know and you can have your own opinions on that but the cost of it is actually down 90% so if you think back to the beginning about you know how do we actually harness this free energy which we're getting from the Sun or the Earth or what have you how do we turn that into something that we can use lithium uh what is now kind of more of The Cutting Edge UPS technology the cost of that is down and we always knew there was going to be a time where the cost of lithium is going down while the traditional UPS battery cost of of uh lead acid is going up to make it much more efficient to switch over to lithium they last longer Etc but the cost is down 30% 177% of all cars sold are electric that's expected to double now whether you're into the electric car or not it's important to understand that that's where the trends are going I mean that that's where Investments that's where companies are going to pop up to help folks along that journey and I think the most interesting part is that you're going to start seeing energy move from a commodity you know ComEd Etc to a tech investment data centers already are trying to repurpose nuclear plants building their own solar front arms because they're running out of power on the grid so that's a massive Challenge and it could be a big game changer for those that actually are able to harness it properly AI in particular I know we all have our own understanding of it whether it be chat GPT or or robots but I think one thing that was kind of interesting is the example from the Olympics at the Olympics they have their Olympic Village where they all live and Etc and it was kind of nuts but they they they essentially all the athletes had their own personal assistant basically expert following them around helping them you know here's where I can get food here's where I can go train here's where I can get a break Etc that was traveling around with them they all had access to it think about that from a school level children kids will essentially have tutors in every subject PhD level experts kind of just surrounding them enabling them to be the student that they're aspiring to do um and think about that in the workspace as well think instead of jobs being removed what you're going to start seeing is more capabilities of an individual be able to harness all these different say experts in all these different areas of what it is that you're supposed to do it just makes you that much more of an efficient employee we're seeing this with driverless cars um you know 42,000 people last year died in car accidents unfortunately zero of them were from autonomous cars uh obviously there isn't a ton of them out there right now but they are and and if you think of the safety behind that you think of sort of the efficienc that's just going to continue to expand and to expand into other parts of our transportation industry bioengineering like I said I think is is amazing but if you look at the dollars going into it I mean three3 billion dollars was spent to crack the first human genome and now those costs are down to like $200 to perform uh some of the tests you think about transplants limbs Etc Cancer Treatments this is where it's all going the venture capital investment in the space is up 100% since 2012 so you don't have to necessarily want to eat a food you know a Stak grown from a laboratory just to understand that this is the evolution of where markets are being sprung up this is the space through utilizing AI through harnessing energy that that companies are looking for your guidance and helping them through the Journey and so what does all this lead to this is interesting information but why does it matter um excuse me my screen green is frozen here I apologize everyone the slide deck is Sean maybe um there we go it'sing everyone very sorry about that uh I left you on the Cliffhanger but here you are so it's it's what it's doing is it's blowing up the data center Market most of us in this space already uh kind of see this but here's some numbers behind it this is the US in particular essentially doubling between now and the year 2029 almost everything is doubling the amount of racks that are out there that all of this equipment is going into 2.2 to four million the raised floor square footage doubling the the megawatts the actual power going into all these wrecks again essentially almost doubling that all leads to much more Industries popping up that can help them help folks along this journey and Panduit is a perfect partner for that this is all being driven by AI these other revolutions that are really just being uh expedited because of the use of AI but it leads to some challenges this is what's already happening in the AI space right now 29% are running out of power it's almost that's almost a third a quarter of them have too much heat because of all the power and compute that's going into there they don't have the ability to dissipate it and that's another area where Pan's going to be able to help you in the near future the running out of floor space the amount of fiber needed here is is 45 times the amount that's a drastic change to an existing environment and and what it leads to is this issue with are we retrofitting data centers are we building new ones and what they've actually found is that it's it's cheaper and quicker to build another one than it is to evolve the one you have so you're going to see more data centers popping up while they're while they're still utilizing the existing ones that are already there for other other types of needs and it's just going to continue to expand and this leads to one of the biggest problems that is an area where I really think this space can help out and that's the shortage in workers contractors 400,000 shortage in actual contractors to perform the work to keep the space up and running and all of this is happening while we're expecting the GDP to increase by about 14% just because of AI so what do we do with this shortage in contractors how do we how do we work ourselves around this it's frozen again here apologies everyone but so the it's leading to some Trends in the actual workspace the hyperscale capacity is expected to Triple over half of organization say Staffing is is the actual biggest need the Nvidia chips that that are out today are going to be obsolete within 18 months and with over a third of the workplace actually actually coming near retirement this is an area where I think Pand can really help we have an entire Service uh organization we have an entire network of contractors that you can leverage if you're working with Pandit this is all leading to more need for structured cabling which is the world Panduit actually comes from this is what we're known for you may know us for cabling or something specific in this space but structure cabling is the strength of pandu this is a you know kind of what we're trying to get this picture is kind of what we're trying to get around this is sort of your point-to-point cabling and we're moving to structured cabling which is where Panduit is your partner of choice and I think yourselves as integrators and channel Partners this is really where you can differentiate yourselves to to your customers is that you have the ability to leverage an expert in this world one of the things that I find most interesting is if you just is how little structure cabling has been talked about in this space because of some of the advantages that it provide AI is forcing it on us and really what does it do cable density a lot easier the installation easier fixing a problem comes a little easier there's a little bit more of an investment upfront with it but at the end of the day it's what the actual contractors and Engineers are saying this is what you need Mr or Mrs customer if you're actually building this data center you want to put these these AI uh cabinets in here this is what we need in order to support you properly so here's your prettier picture this is really what we're trying to get you to and this is again the area where Panduit is really well known and that's our structured cabling practice it improves everything souped in nuts makes it easier for changes and really what it makes it easier for them to do is to expand and to grow and again pan has an entire network of contractors that can be leveraged on your behalf but it's not just the structure cabling it's power as well as we're talking about the density in these places just act absolutely exploding the amount of power that's going in per rack the power has to be there as well I mean some of those Nvidia cabinets that are being built now for the future they require a power connection that doesn't exist power Partners like Panduit are working hand inand with Nvidia with Cisco as they're building these new technologies to make sure that the power is there for them so we have these highdensity pdus um they're Universal you can use them around the globe we've made it a lot easier to fix this perceived problem before we get to it and so what does that mean in this entire Market what does all of this matter to us the one of the things that I think is the most unique about some of this Evolution that's going on is the awareness of those causing it I've been in this channel for quite a bit in particular in the power side and what I've always noticed is as there is new technologies like like digital transformation was becoming big virtualization was becoming big new new Cisco switches are coming out Etc no one ever really puts power cabling any of that on the Forefront of something that needs to be addressed it's always just sort of assumed that those markets will catch up to what is needed whether it's a new power connection where there's a different type of cable connection we'll all follow the market but now the engineers The Architects that are designing these million dooll rcks of AI are saying listen one of the biggest problems we're running into is the power we have to address this up front you need to talk to p into it because they understand this you need to have a structured cabling conversation I know you want to do your traditional pointto point but you have to do structured cabling otherwise you're not going to be able to fulfill this the way you want to do and pandin is already there we're already doing this we're perfect partner we have the organization to support you with it it's a23 billion do Market structured cabling that this space can absolutely help you with by 2030 $8 billion in pdus alone and if you think about the cabinet space that's going to have to go in here the cabinet Market is just trying to manufacture quick enough to keep up with this and I think at the end of the day what makes pandem the most unique here is that we do all of this none of our competitors do we have the service organization to support you we have the partner programs to support you and to really help drive this and to be your physical infrastructure partner for this AI generation and with that I will take any questions that anyone may have Kelly I'll open it up you and again I apologize for some of the technical issues there okay thank you Sean we'll use this time now to answer any questions it looks like we already have a couple in Quee first one why is it important for the channel to understand some of these Trends if we don't directly sell or provide them as Services uh yeah thank you good question and and we did touch on this a little bit but I would it it's good to reiterate you know you're customers whoever they are that are probably work interacting with all of these Technologies to some extent they could be banking state and local education what have you all of these Trends are driving their business models so you being up to speed on it and knowing you have a partner that can kind of help you through the Journey I think is is invaluable okay um do any AI Partners validate your Solutions uh yes so we are um well we are a Cisco compatible partner that comes from our our uh pdu integration with them but that is evolving uh into the cabling as well so you'll see more on that and Nvidia in particular uh we write we have our uh our structure cabling guides for them that their entire sales team uses and we're look working with them to make that validated too so we're working hand inand with the partners driving this chain okay thank you it looks like we have another one how can we differentiate ourselves with the declining Workforce Trends yes and and so again we did touch on this but I one of the things I've seen actually is that companies like yourselves in your local markets are actually working with high schools uh uh colleges and you're trying and creating programs where you can essentially have internships where you can bring folks in and train them properly on how to actually perform this type of work if you're a partner that's in a regional area and you have the ability to provide the actual contractor work that's a massive diff differentiation you can do and you also could do that by building your relationship with Panduit make sure you're leveraging our Network properly as well
