Technology Blast! WOW I Met So Many Cool People At NAB Show!
[Music] i was never a big fan of the latest and the greatest but this year so many things has changed and improved in the technology and in our area which is video audio broadcast that i decided i have to come over here and sneak peek on the latest releases just take a look at it it was my first exhibition of this scale and it had truly put a smile on my face since the first steps here incredible feeling to be surrounded with so many crazy intense solutions we're here at the exhibition of unreal ride and what we can see over here the virtual set with the moving background fully mapped followed by the robotic arm from gold everything is synchronized together and you can get a render video at the end with yourself and it looks super cool everything's synchronized with the lights and it looks pretty dope i would like to say something smart about it but the designers are here and they definitely tell you more details hey guys my name is ben myers i work for bu studios we just opened our fourth location here in las vegas nevada we're about 10 minutes away we're here at nab 2022. uh we are doing a virtual production demonstration we have partnered with mark roberts motion control uh we're running the bolt x which is a pretty big and fast and scary robot we got the sony venice on there we got the cook 30 to 95 millimeter veritas zoo it's a full frame beast of a uh lens this the camera setup is close to 20 pounds and we're slinging this thing around on carpet it's holding nice and steady uh it's super fun we're allowing people to get on a tron inspired light bike and just kind of ride through it for every day the environment is uh we found it on the unreal engine marketplace which is pretty exciting uh because you know one religion is free and you guys can find some of these things for free these assets uh this one costs us like roughly 65 and we just get in and start tweaking it uh it's super easy to use it's really fun you guys can actually start messing around with virtual production on your own if you want just grab a projector and some sort of way of motion tracking your camera whether it's a vibe tracker or something like that with the robot the robot has proprioception so it knows where itself is and it knows where the camera is it knows where the target is and we can send all that positional data straight into unreal engine in real time this is all happening real time this is not a pre-recorded video playing on the wall um it's pretty crazy where the technology has come and we're excited to see where it goes in the future forward to posting some more content there [Music] the knapp show had a place in three really huge halls and there was substantial amount of exhibitors presenting their top products and services i could spot many familiar brands among them popping up so excitement gauge pulls up even more that's just amazing we have fully prepared that to work and it's mobile it's got a ups so you can connect it to any 20 amp circuit and it'll completely power the entire system 120 amp circuit it only takes about 12 amps to get this up and running so you can plug it in anywhere it fits any standard door any standard elevator just gets shipped all across the world my god i feel like five years old right now and i'm in legoland this is an aperture exhibition and they have pretty much every single thing probably every single thing that i would dream about give me a minute [Music] look who we met over here this is just amazing i wouldn't even imagine that they would meet no andy over here no no he's scared now he's gonna tell us what's going on on this exhibition aperture over here so we're at the aperture booth um basically we're showing off a lot of new announcements today we've got the 600c pro behind us which for everyone out there that uses basically the aperture system we're talking about that bones mount interchangeable mount system where you use a hard light you can turn it into a soft light or a projection mount or anything like that for the first time we have a full rgb tunable hard light that can now be shaped so if you have a soft box or a lantern or something like that you're like i want it blue i want it green i want it red you can do all that at the same time as well it's pretty super exciting yeah in addition to that we've got stuff like the mc pro we have the new version of the mc uh three times as bright as far as readings go um one billion color combinations weather proofing so you can now leave your mc's in the rain um that's all built in that really awesome outdoor work yes yeah for sure so we're not showing those on the floor but we did do a couple announcements as well too so you can see all that as well but yeah we will be waiting for them never had an opportunity to see them the light bulbs you can utilize them in a million ways in scenarios when you're filming on a film set you can replace regular bulbs with this yeah this case is charging amazing [Music] well aperture had one of the coolest boots on the floor not only because it was colorful here and the new 600c pro but it was super fun to have that chance to put hands on their products and check them out and see how they perform [Music] i was really curious back in the days when i was about to buy my first professional life i was thinking about i'm around 100d that we have over here and this is super dope that we can just touch it over here try them all now we can use our eyeballs to judge i still consider getting one i had this beautiful opportunity to finally check it out using this is like smooth look at this you can adjust it with just one single move the parts are not as bad as they say when you press it and you can dial it to desired value by simply touching this knob like crazy it's super easy and you can get it for a couple hundred bucks this is just amazing wow just wow look at this we have all of them we have all the soft boxes we have the lunches we have the spotlight and we can tweak them we can dial it however we want and we can check how they really look like in the real data any like we're talking about like the free date today we have wireless dmx built into it status link now can be cool so if you're on your phone set you've got your extra lights and someone brings on a skype on a stair and stuff like that and you say hey i want that smackdown to be blue i don't have to switch through and flip through luminaires i can literally go in and say oh cool oh did that have wirelessly accidentally if it does then i want to go blue and i can make all my lights go at the same time green at the same time this is insane workflow efficiency and it just also if you've been like me where you actually switched another app and that app quits out before you get back to it oh my gosh oh my gosh and everybody's looking at you right everybody that's looking at you this is letting you go into one spot one point of source right absolutely again in the full ecosystem too again the color matching i cannot emphasize how important this is you shouldn't have to worry about this stuff also all the things that sinus link pro has we're talking about like magic program we're talking about the programmable effects all that's built into the app that means that all those features like color matching yep like using your phone to scan color save it send it to your friend and then your friend uses it and uploads it to their light you can now do that with non-aperture lights as well too so this ecosystem is only getting bigger it's getting stronger and i think what that means is that if you're a sinus leak user out there uh the world's your oyster now you can walk down to any set and start controlling things you know your app's going to work well we always keep an eye on the aperture pirate ship and uh i gotta tell you every time you announce something it's like a banger right so all we do is wait for it to come out spend most time on the black magic stand we've looked at all the new 18 features and some exciting stuff so yeah so i might have just been a bit of a vlog i'd love to say i'm relaxing but i'm actually in my hotel suite editing for about three months oh my god hopefully you left all your all of your work in home everything's like in office wherever you work here in youtube mode oh yeah so that's so great did you find anything super interesting this year it's a nap show uh well this is my first time actually off the black magic tank so i've spent mostly yesterday there and then i had to leave to start editing so this is really my first bit outside of that hall so i couldn't tell you much yet i just finally found the scientific stand their monitors i'm just going to see sony see what they've got sony of course the biggest exhibit on all this floor yeah and this is just amazing they have really really intense amount of technology spread over over the floor and this is just amazing i am heading there now okay i hopefully will be able to dig hole through all these exhibits around here and you know find something for me and you know it's so nice meeting you it's amazing thank you thank radio transmission system the best thing about it is it's using wi-fi technology i mean it sounds like a very boring but the one thing very cool is it's broadcasting its own wi-fi so you can connect your own device like a phone or ipad to the wi-fi and you get an image from the from an app you don't have neither by a big monitor and a receiver but of course it comes with a receiver there it's very compact it's very easy to use and also you can you can connect up to four devices at the same time so you can have like a multiple your own device and also a receiver at the same time you can this is very good for like a small or convenient productions also the uh the cost is very i say compatible this one the transmitter with the receiver together it's a 500 bundle and you can buy the receiver separately i assume there's no one want to buy the transmitters everything i'm really amazed that you can transmit it in with such a low latency can you wave the hand in front of this yeah so this transmitter open field it could be a range of 1200 feet about like 400 meters around where enough for like the most you know also situation like a regular functions you know hello look at this speaking and a lot and we don't have any luck here and in some scenarios this is a life saver because you can have your focus puller somewhere behind the corner or something it has pretty good range it's working in dual band 5.4 gigahertz and 5 gigahertz and wow this is just 500 bucks so affordable technology is simply coming to you and it's knocking to your door hey i'm here you can have me finally let's go dig through this expo to find some more cool stuff [Music] we have some waterproof outdoor lights over here they are literally pouring the water on them and they are still working [Music] here you this is how you would input the clip and it may look like this if you were on rec709 and what you could do here is since it was recorded in log s-log specifically you can use the atom hdr slider and you can actually see the whole dynamic range of the shot so that's how the slider begins you can slide it to your dynamic range is correct or we have an auto hdr slider here that will correct the image for you automatically that's how the rec709 image usually looks when you input s-log and then when you do atom hdr you get a picture that shows you all the dynamic range so they're pretty beautiful [Music] we know that atomos is taking the lead right now tools they are delivering they are just amazing we can see things that are gonna bring you a lot of joy monitoring the footage you're recording you can check every single monitor over here we can check we have a bunch of ninja fives we have sumo 19 s8 second addition special edition let me play with it a little bit i'll be over here and it will be the first time i had the opportunity to check it out [Music] i mean just the same as all the other devices but again this is more like a reference monitor you can record that's just a nice thing to have but it's shame on me look at this we have neon over here probably one of the best monitoring codes i have over here this is a reference monitor rely on that in any conditions if it's like you know editing room film set you have a focus puller you can give him the advisor he's going to appreciate it a lot that control is moved from the screen to this little bar over here keeps all the functionality from the other monitors when you see the black bars they're pure black when you have the sun or some light coming up it's simply blasting the light in you and the price tag for 3500 it's just something what you should get for your production company use it remotely in the field these are true female batteries and i heard it's really efficient i can see clearly now the rainbow with these monitors you definitely do yeah we have to move on there's so many other things to check out this is huge my feet started giving me the signals i made a significant amount of steps every booth had something you could fast in your eye for a good couple of minutes and i knew i was not able to blow through everything i wanted in distance measurement tool this works with a radioattack or with two radio decks and we can do a little autofocus for you here [Music] i can change between the remote focus and the manual focus when i press the button i have the control right and when i press the button again so i have an autofocus okay just to calculate the motor direction between distance and lens position okay this is the reason why my the system can follow me the focus can follow me more and more fancy advanced and mind-bending stuff was coming from every direction and then happened something i would not expect not so long time ago i was watching this guy who was about to release this project over here you can see a spinning arm that can record the things put inside let's let's let's keep heading let's introduce that scene this is slowly gravitating this is just amazing look what we have over here and you know i can see this thing like hey is it make art now it's like you know i sneak like you know from behind the corner like all right what's your name [Music] this snapshot wouldn't be complete without they have a lot of good stuff over here and you can ask a question you can use the stuff that they are showing up over here you have a model you can check other things like the monitors you can check the cameras big advantage of such a places like nab show is that you can get familiar with the staff that you would probably have to order but this is like the best place to have fun with the gear and check it out in person and you know have your own opinion about the things because you know we are watching a lot of youtube and we are watching a lot of opinions of others there is nothing better than just put your own hand on the gear and have your own feeling about it this is good this is just a heaven right are we in heaven b h store over here this project and again i just hope everyone goes out there and thinks of virtual production as a new department i can't tell that i'm tired but i'm getting tired and i just have to keep walking look at this we were hot and capable of black magic and this company is making the miracles to help everyone who is creative and dealing with the video make it easier and this is right is that right absolutely [Music] software the devices everything is so helpful and everyone knows that if you want to rely on something what's stable and you know 100 working it has to be like magic the new features delivered by result 18 deserved a little bit more attention so it was a perfect time to ask representatives what they have to involve about this groundbreaking update so you can describe in three different components our cloud solution this is the cloud storage this is where you're gonna store your files and we're talking about media here okay um you see here on the screen this is what is going on inside that box all the files that are stored there the speed graphs for all the computers that are connected here this is one part of the solution second part would be here in the software so in the software you have this new tab here that what we call a cloud solution where everyone can work at the same time independent it doesn't matter if it's from another place in your city or in the world so you we used to have local we used to have network and now you have the cloud and we changed a little bit uh the names to make it a little bit more simple for you to understand so we don't call this part anymore like a database that we used to call now we call it a library it's a little bit better for everyone to understand not get so afraid of you know and a library so it's a component that can have multiple projects here you don't have to have just one project many projects that you want so when i load a library this in this moment i'm using a project that it's not stored in my computer in my computer the project is not stored here it's stored just on the cloud so other people let me just open a timeline here okay so uh when you open the project every everything is gonna work perfectly the same way that it should when it's when it's local as soon as you open up but the difference is that other people this is what we are doing here other people at the same time may be working at the same project there's a little icon here that says that someone is also working in this project maybe in the edit page or in the fusion page but i'm still available here to color project i can uh color this clip and as soon as i finish coloring the other users are gonna see automatically and it gets updated at the same time right i have a third component here that we call the presentations when you go to blackmagic website you're going to see a login page and if you join the project server you'll have this icon here called the presentation generally so the presentation it's a way that you can organize your team playback hardware a project that you uploaded for it went to the nodes but at the same time it's also a conference call so here you can enable your webcam you can enable your microphone here so i'm here one so it's a conference call it's like a zoom meeting you say like that but at the same time we don't need to share the screen and when you share the screen on zoom you're not going to get so accurate and it will be jumping frames but with this solution here everyone can play back the same media the same information and you can also have just one person playing back if you use this icon here you're gonna lock the the playback for everyone just one person will be like the driver that we will play back and construct scrubs and as soon as you finish the meeting organize what the ideas you just export these markers throw into davinci resolve you it's just as simple as that you import and then you can start your review process so we're here with cristiano you've heard enough about blackmagic cloud isn't it tempting definitely it is all these capabilities and what cristiano presented us this is just the game change simply something was gonna speed up the workflow we can work internationally what i heard of what you didn't have on the camera is they were working in singapore with people from los angeles with very short delay it's know you need the seat time if you want to gain knowledge and if you want to get better in things you know and these things you know if you need the shortcut you have to ask your questions you have to ask others this is the best way to learn to speed up your workflow and you know don't hesitate just come and ask them you know like you know that was simple what do we have in the back another this is the future we are here with phil from backblaze the company which is delivering the cloud storage with pretty convenient conditions and you will explain it that in couple words just try it so welcome back guys we're a b2 cloud storage provider and we can store all your data content on our servers um cool thing is we are a hot storage uh provider so unlike amazon aws three they have cold storage but they um you have to kind of wait to get your data from aws with us you have access to data instantly when you need it and we want it so you don't have to wait for time or wait for delays just to get your data get your data and we also integrate so we have a data center in amsterdam so if you need europe yeah so if you wanted more connections with europe we have that as well and cool thing is we have a cloud migration project where we have both data sets in both regions so data redundancy across all our cloud platform provider so we charge about five dollars per terabyte stored so however much data you want we charge you by the hour so you don't have to worry about having a data retention period of like 90 days we have to have the data on our 90 days and you can't do anything with it it will charge for it unlike other like other providers that do that we're charging by the hour so if you want your data like you don't need it no more you want to delete it it's not charging that hour you stopped you deleted and removed from b2 so you kind of just pay for what you need and you pay as you go we want to be the easy cloud storage service so we want easy pricing once you're only you know we don't have any other specialty or service if you're using a server or like an on-prem nas you're going to integrate your nas most nav two of our favorite navs are qnap and synology so cool about technology is actually integrate with our v2 api so if everything's already on your technology you got to do is just make an account create a bucket which is pretty much a cloud drive and then you'll go create an application key then have to create your application key you go to your cloud your synology device go to cloud sync you can just sync all your data right there on the spot so there's not much integration that you need to do if you already have this knowledge device you've got all all the hard working that device will do all the uploading for you all you got to do is set up a sync job and set up how many how long you want it to run or what folders do you want to back up and it just goes straight to the storage this expo was really mind opening and for sure brought a lot
