i'm heartened to know that simtec is working closely with our institutes of higher learning to enable expertise transfer and to share best practices even beyond the manufacturing sector i look forward to our continued partnership with simtek to drive skills development in advanced manufacturing and to support industry transformation in singapore [Music] hi good morning hi this is tom i'm actually the assistant developer international development manager from synthetic kto and today i'll be doing a quick briefing on the sgos programs that the ui are you are interested in so this is actually a very quick sharing session about five or ten minutes before i pass it up to my colleagues to talk about the technical modules in each of the individual in the individual sgs programs so during the course of this uh sharing if you have any questions you would like to ask feel free to actually type it in the q a box uh at the end of the end of this webinar there's actually a q a session where you can actually uh speak directly to the trainers to our researchers the specialist in individual programs okay let's carry on okay uh like i mentioned earlier today i'll be talking about the hus uh program which is known as sg united program um some key things that is interesting this program that we have is that this is the one-of-a-kind forget this that is designed by ssg collaboration with simtec to actually upskill the singapore workforce for meaningful part for singaporeans and prs by singaporeans who might be unemployed or retrench because of profits and you wish to actually move into a new industry or actually upskill your skill sets and what is key to this particular program is that on top of just training you actually get a monthly training allowance of a thousand two or two thousand two hundred dollars every month and this program could be completed uh within six or nine months depending on the the program you're taking up or and then the best part of it is at any bonus point if you were to be re-employed you are able to actually stop the program and where you are um and carry on and then go on to employment so that is actually the beauty of this particular program and on top of it if you complete all the models in the program you actually earn yourself a undergraduate diploma depending on the sgri program or certificates issued by simtec of course the other key things for this program is you actually get to learn with syntax scientists uh our researchers who are who are cutting edge in the industry and there are several different sgs programs to choose from in fact today we have nine different programs if you have more questions uh feel free to explore our website and you can learn more information from there so what is uh this uh us program about so as you know most programs and almost training you go for training and then end updates you go by the workplace and that uh then you try to recap what you learn but how we do it is slightly different uh we actually uh we contact our training at symtech and our premises and while doing the training you'll be working on a company project or a project that is designed by our syntax trainers so you'll get real-life examples that is very realistic and close to the industry needs and from from there because of your clothes because of the examples that you were taught because of the the research the projects you will embark on you will find that you know you actually understand the industry better and be a bit more equip and skills that it requires and of course after which uh we'll be happy for you a complete program and have a graduate diploma or a certificate project and why is it for the participants uh well like i said earlier the great thing about this program is to actually get a training allowance for a thousand two a month during the duration of your program and you may ask how is the price of this program you know i'm getting a thousand two this program is actually highly subsidized by ssg excuse me singapore the original cost was uh about thirty thousand twenty five thirty thousand dollars is a mixture of five to seven modules but because of the subsidies that singaporeans receive you only pay between five hundred or seven hundred dollars depending on the model that the program you're taking and of course uh if you're a singaporean and yes you achieve futures credits you can offset uh the cost fees with your credits so at the end of the day you may end up paying zero i mentioned earlier before uh by companies program you can get your achieve a graduate diploma and itself so it's about this program actually modular base as you complete the modules uh you can actually collect the certificates from individual modules so which is why uh when you when you find re-employment you are able to stop the program actually go and start and start a new employment and stick in the certificates that you actually completed until that's beyond training provider that actually offers uh graduate diplomas under four of our guest programs and i mentioned earlier uh it will be happy for you you will find re-employment if you need to re-exit the program and start a new career please this will be happy for you to do so well i mentioned earlier that i think tech has a host of researchers and industry experts who are on the cutting edge uh these future experts will be the trainers who are actually training you and passing on the knowledge to you and guiding you along so we have experts in different areas from active manufacturing to digitization for advanced manufacturing at the same time when you want to industrial project maybe perhaps you could even be working your potential employer you could impress them with the projects they come up with even before you even get hired and because of the reward and docker experience you will boost your future work opportunities by uh going through the sgos program well due dates would be happy it should tell you that more than 5000 pmets have actually attended or completed our courses and we actually have this interesting category known as the learn practice employment uh it's very much like what i shared with you earlier and that's when you did when you do a program with us you actually don't just go to training lectures and practices you actually take on hands-on projects that's industry uh body that is industry ready and from there we hope that you actually implement whatever you learned in class without experts into your your career your new workplace and of course for sgus this is only open for singaporeans and singapore prs over this like i actually mentioned earlier there was uh i actually mentioned earlier about the excuse futures funding so if you are singaporean h25 and above you actually have 500 dollars uh speech which is credits that are given on the government and as of 31st december there was another one time top up so singapore some singaporeans may have singapore will actually have more credits to offset the program with and if you're above 40 years old you'll receive even more credits to offset this so please start applying with bits it's like i'm actually giving a quick snapshot of the 4xgs program to be talking about today so today we'll be looking at editing manufacturing about instrumental and quality control advanced welding and smart machinery as you can see over here these are actually the different modules and the prices that programs leave on the rest of the screen i actually have a qr code for you feel free to scan the qr code you actually got you due to our our online brochure right so uh so far i've been talking a lot about the program at sus srg so let me tell you a little bit about the syntax kto the knowledge transfer office so syntax actually power is that we've been around for 30 years in collaborative industries and everything and on and from vinnie asa itself we actually have about 150 researchers and we have actually worked with almost a thousand calorie companies during our time to these companies we completed about 6 000 projects and generated revenues more than 270 million without pro collaborations i mentioned earlier uh today we have nine at gus programs uh from the nine programs we have it makes up 54 different uh individual modules and we train more than five thousand payments so all this is wrapped up together and we use lpi pedagogy where is the learn practice and implements and this is actually a page where they show us the testimonies that we gotten from industry they went through the hgs programs or other trainings through simtec that they show that we showcase the the collaboration we have with industry that our working relationship with them okay so just a reminder uh going to this sgus program you will actually receive a thousand two hundred dollars funded training allowance the program is between six to nine months and at any point of time when you finish the program and you will find free employment you are able to exit the program uh collect the certificates from the bodies you completed and if you were successful in finishing the program you actually earned a diploma or certificate uh a graduate diploma in a particular module so at the bottom left hand side i actually like our qr code uh feel free to scan it this will actually show you the different https programs and the more details on it all right and with that's our m representation thank you so much uh sharing onto you thank you very much mr tang okay our next speaker is dr chang peng who is an acting deputy research division director advanced automation division and a group manager advanced imaging and machine vision group simtec dr chang peng will be sharing on advanced instrumentation and quality control through digitalization over to you dr chang kang thank you let me share my screen good morning everyone can you all see my screen yes ken okay thank you okay so uh the the topic of this training module is called advanced instrumentation and quality control through digitalization so we know that instrumentation or inspection is demanded across all the sectors so um to start with today's discussion um i will i will show you a short video it's our recent research on coordinating testing so traditionally we may think that um this is a typical healthcare problem statement however we should say that to to enable the reopening of the whole country the key technology enabler is not the pcr testing itself but how to accelerate the pcr testing so um actually the key technical enablers are automation and instrumentation so uh i will play this a short video to to show you how this technology helps the country a new machine that can test up to four times the number of code 19 samples a day for each lab has been developed by singapore researchers it slashes manpower cost and time by about half and adds about 2 000 tests a day per unit singapore's total capacity which has which was around 13 000 last month so far three hospitals have signed up to use the appliance its makers call it the rave at about a meter wide is the latest weapon in the fight against the coronavirus in singapore the rapid automated volume enhancer machine uses robots to speed up testing of samples by taking over tasks typically done by hand whether it's moving tubes transferring liquids with pipettes or scanning barcodes it's hoped that going automatic will also leave less room for human error and cut the risk of lab infections workers sort of think because pipetting is actually some accuracy more i also understand that when somebody is preparing right now you need a supervisor behind to make sure that the right sample goes to the right sample plate so all these are very rare and nebulous very repetitive at the same time wearing a ppe with the goggles is really tough on the long walk two units of the rave when used with the singapore designed resolute 2.0 test kit can process close to 4 000 samples a day for every lab or hospital that's four times the typical number from conventional testing and will also give roots to the country's total testing capacity which was about 13 000 last month the company marketing the system wants to bring it overseas but says its first order of business is singapore once we are assured that we can serve the singapore market well and then we can help the country get to the 40 test per day target that the ministerial committee has set i think we will start to explore what the opportunities are in the overseas markets so we have been fielding queries from the region so places like indonesia places like the philippines even as far as here as kazakhstan saudi arabia and the us the rave machine was developed three times faster than most projects which usually take up to a year that's thanks to a team of 30 expensive industry players brought together by the agency for science technology and research as part of a national effort to improve testing capabilities okay this is just one example how we make use of instrumentation automation these uh digital tools to accelerate traditional uh technology and as i show on the screen now are those business partners with a star so um we are not only we are not limited in uh certain industry sectors but these technologies will across almost all the sectors as you can see our business partner cover a big business network uh including industries from including um players from different industries as well as our public sectors because we know that a this technology is is needed for this technology i'm showing here is needed for almost all the manufacturing relevant sectors so for example automated inspection is the key technology for quality control purpose and we also do 3d scanning we're also relevant to precision measurement x3 inspection image processing all these key elements will be included in these training course modules these are the modules to be covered under this course as you can see we have instrumentation for optical measurement we know that eyes or vision is our primary sense of collecting information so optical measurement is most straightforward way to get information for inspection for quality control purpose and we also have a fundamental dimensional measurements uh we should say that most of the quality control uh processes are to some extent linked to the dimensions the measurements and together with that we have the geometric dimensioning and tolerancing this is a general method to qualify whether those uh product puzzle field within a certain tolerance we consider this parts besides the dimension uh measurement we also have the material characterization to see the the the corrosion or or or foreign particle this kind or do the and uh elemental analysis is under our module four and um uh we also have our digital uh just now i show you some examples and and in this page you can also see the different sectors our lab practice training or these projects project-based training are all from our everyday real industrial demands they can be from semiconductor for example can be from fmcg can be from healthcare uh as you may know that especially when we talk about resilience during this kobe 19 these industries are the most resilient industries because the will when people move less the goods move faster and we need more uh computational power that's why a semiconductor fast moving consumer goods healthcare this industry are quite quite popular and our our training topics our projects embedded in the lecturing modules are all from our everyday real business cases okay let's go to the detail of each modules the first one is the instrumentation of optics optical measurement is mainly uh to teach how to how to build a vision system the the fundamentals of optical uh instrument the imaging optics uh how to set up a testing system and the second module is the fundamental dimensional measurement to um to help you to to to get in touch with those emerging technologies the the the state of the art technologies for example the the coordinate measuring machine which is a universal inspection center in most of the precision engineering companies or in aerospace or in automotive companies it's very uh widely used and also we have the system profoundly tree to test whether the surface quality is qualified so in this module the is also linked with a lab practice together with us we have advanced we have a national metrology center we also have advanced remanufacturing and technology center to work together with us to provide the opportunity of those equipment those most advanced digitalized measurement equipment the third one is the basic uh knowledge of gd and t geometric dimensioning and tolerancing or how to express the tolerance and how to how to make the criteria to to to qualify the the products we also have the material characterization and using our sem or x-ray machines to to analyze the elemental information this is the improved quality monitoring and management through digitalization we know that those measurement technology may be already there for years or four decades uh so that's why we have this another layer to to digitalize the the the whole system to link the different system together to to accelerate uh the the measurement or the inspection process um as mentioned before we have the lab-based practice is mainly to help the participants to get familiar with these equipments to to really uh operate those equipments for example x-ray or cmm or other measurement inspection technology 3d scanners and as well as the analytical software to get familiar with the the operation and the data processing last but not least we have the real case projects um these projects uh are linked to those lecturing modules and is a part of our real industry projects so we hope through this uh uh practice uh we can be more familiar and we will have a better understanding of um of the usage of how how we make use of these technologies we have different options for the projects in the x-ray can be other inspection can be can be other optical relevant projects this program will run for six months and every month is around 60 hours and during during this um program as you can see the first half for this program are many lecturing modules and the second half is mainly the the projects and it's not a fixed program we should say we have the degree of freedom to to adjust due to the the kovi 19 smm because the situation is changing the good thing is the lecturing module some of the lecturing module we can we can do it online and only those are very critical hands-on part we need to physically attend the laboratory but don't worry we have a very strict smm procedure okay so i think i can hand over to my uh idm uh charlotte to talk about uh the process flow sherlock please thanks chung hi so i'm sharla i am the industry development officer supporting dr cheung fung um for these two slides that i'll be going through i'll share with you more about like the incentives for employers and yourselves so for employers there are no financial outlays as trainees are self-sponsored and ssg pays the training allowance directly to the trainees they are hiring incentives for companies who hire sjs trainees as well so there is a process flow for submission employers submit their hiring requirements or job description and identify appropriate sgos syntax courses to participate in your job posts will be listed on our portals for interested trainees to view and apply for training trainees go through six months of full-time upskilling with simtech there's a cost fee of 500 after funding and trainees receive 1 200 training allowance per month from ssg for the duration of the program so trainees will also embark on employers projects in one of the training modules and trainees will attain their certificates of attainments depending on their sjos specifications so the employers can hire the trainee after six months or earlier when being fit so employers hiring sgs trainees will get for singaporeans and prs below 40 years old they'll get 20 salary for the six months up to six thousand dollars and for singaporeans and prs who are 40 years old and above they'll get 40 salary for six months up to 12 000 so um on the next slide um that's the prerequisites and um only singaporeans and singapore prs aged above 21 years old who are unemployed or retrenched and can commit to the sjss courses on a full-time basis are eligible to apply for sgs program applicants should possess a degree in any discipline or a diploma with a minimum of three years related working experience but not to worry so if you do not have the required academic qualifications you are still welcome to apply shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview for special approval proficiency in written and spoken english and the course fee is 500 after funding yeah so next page please yup so on screen is the qr codes to our brochure registration form and website for your per user if you have any questions after today's session feel free to contact dr chung fung or myself on advanced instrumentation and quality control through digitalization yep back to you sharing all right thank you thank you very much dr changfung and charlotte our next speaker is dr sun sung who is an acting director precision engineering center of innovation simple so dr sun chung will be sharing on advanced welding technologies robotic processes sorry over to you dr sanjin okay thank you i'm sharing the can you see the slice now okay i will make it a full screen okay uh good morning everyone uh in the next maybe 20 minutes i will introduce uh another course called advanced welding technologies and robotics robotized processes so this is one of the programs for for the sus scheme so i think everybody is interested to know the market for this course or you know the potential perspectives after you graduate from this course what are the market and employment perspectives right so let's start with some background or information on the welding technology i believe everyone knows welding but may not know how extensive the welding has been used for a variety of industries in fact welding is widely used in almost all the industries you can name it automotive marine aerospace oil and gas offshore petrochemicals precision engineering electronics constructions you know the product for welding you can see from the big one huge one from you know satellite space shuttles airplane ships you know bridges and all the in fact all the plant factories were built by using welding somewhere and buildings bridges you know for the product even the small product our consumables electronics you know all the uh almost everything you know you can it's very difficult to name any industry which joining or welding is not used and for welding the quality is very critical right for many products like air airplane you know if anything happens you know this will be catalystic and disasters right so and you can see the news and in many cases the accident is happened due to some kind of you know failures of wells or somewhere so that means welding quality is very important for many people back and because of all these applications you know there's a huge demand for the welding professionals in the industry in fact all the times the welding professionals is in the shortage it's not only singapore is worldwide and for our course before this sgus program we have advanced welding technology part-time or evening courses for the graduate diploma you know for we have been conducted this for the past i think more than 10 years so we have already uh over 200 students graduated with a graduate graduate digital mind in welding technology and they are working in a variety industries mncs lles you know local large companies and also smes so the perspective for employment is very promising and why the the course is important because no welding i think it's a traditional or old technology but it's developing constantly and once constantly you know new processes is developing and also modified improved processes and so this training gives us the opportunity to update on the new development we are not only talking about the traditional technologies but also we were updating with the state-of-the-art technologies and also this course is quite compressive as i said welding is not only the arc welding you see in the contraction side you know there are many uh different processes there's over hundreds different processes you can have a laser welding electron beam welding and you know friction still welding all those maybe most of you are not even heard of so in this course we will be talking about all the processes and also the different how to imp apply these technologies to the real applications and our course is also unique you know we have many case studies it's a real case studies so upon learning cute hi guys very verse i think doctor doctor soon got some uh has some correctional era errors it's very fast for a mini or two more otherwise we'll move on to the next speaker thank you so much i'm dr luguy are you there okay yeah i'm sorry i think the line was cut off somehow you'd like to carry on yeah yeah i have to share yeah thank you so you you can see the slides now yeah yeah yeah sorry for yeah i think i i i left from the career opportunities so uh as i said you know welding professional has a good uh uh job perspectives you are not uh only can you work this after this you you are not necessarily to be a welder or doing welding yourself but you can work as a welding engineer supervisors even the inspectors because the inspectors need the if you inspect the welding wells you know you need to have welding knowledge and also qa qc quality control process engineer material engineers mechanical engineers repair engineers testing engineers so a lot of job opportunities and also for a variety of industry sectors semiconductor aerospace you know even construction now let's uh go to the detail about our program so as most of the program we have 10 modules the first five modules is exactly the same as graduate diploma in advanced welding technologies right so five modules and then the next five modules are the supplementary to welding technology you know we have added the robotics for manufacturing of course robotics and we also use as a welding tool and also we added data mining for uh correlation analysis this is also you know can be used for welding or other processes and beside the these are the all the lectures uh courses but then we have also the lab-based practice trainings uh the one session and then project-based trainings for two modules i just give you a very brief snapshot of the different modules so module one we'll be talking about different welding processes beside arc welding so we have you know if you can see we have laser welding electron beam welding friction still welding resistance spot welding and ultrasonic welding and breezing right so these are all maybe some of you may not even heard about it but these are all the different the welding processes the second module will concentrate on the arc welding i think most of you at least know you know arc welding is using commonly in different applications but even in art welding we have different art loading processes we have uh manual welding you know gas metal arc welding tanks gas tungsten art welding plasma arc welding so different aquariums have different advantages you know so we will be teaching all these processes and another important area is even you are you are very good in the welding processes but you need to understand different materials will react differently for wealth right so you have different alloys as normal steel stainless steels nickel alloys titanium aluminum alloys all these are different reactions with welding process so you need to understand what are the major issues for different materials you cannot copy one process to different materials just use the same thing right then sometimes it's just you can make a very big mistake and make the well not qualified so uh weld methodology for different materials relatability is another important aspect in this module and the third module will be concentrated on the lasers so lasers can be used for welding used for cladding used for additive manufacturing right so in this module we will talk about all related to laser welding and additive manufacturing related techniques module 4 is you know overview for weld quality control before welding you need to design welding you need to test right how to test and then you need to pre before welding and after welding whether you need heat treatment and also many important aspects how do you design the welding fixtures and control the distortion and also you know you need to detect when inspect whether the weld is good or not we will involve a lot of destructive testing and also non-destructive tests like x-ray testing ultrasonic testing to evaluate the wealth quality and obviously well welding safety is another important aspect so in this module we will give you a extensive uh instruction on the entire welding process from design up to after welding you know how to detect how do you inspect the well qualities and the the another module for the graduate diploma is for the uh this is project management so this is a generic module for every graduate diploma they will talk about how to plan the methodologies for project management yeah the another module is for the robotics so this module will talk about how the robotics working and programming etc of course this can be used not only for welding but also processes like machining or different processes the data mining can be used for many applications but this module will be teaching the students how to collect data and how to do that medicines this is very popular aspect for every process and for the lab session and for the project-based modules we will give a student some specific topics and of course we need students need to understand the different process we have state-of-the-art welding facilities in the syntax so you will be have the opportunity to do hands-on for different processes and also we will select uh the project for each of you and to conduct uh thoroughly you know from design stage up to the excuse the processes and and after the process how to evaluate the quality so you will have a very uh over overall um you know the opportunity to understand the each process and how to apply these processes into real applications so this will be the three process three modules which involve the left you know we will be physically in the lab to do this and this is just a you know example for after graduate diploma you will get a certificate for the budget diploma for advanced welding technology i think for cost fee wise it will be similar to the other courses and the future will give the you know the monthly allowance beside that the up the student will be only paying for this course for about 750 and the rest will be sponsored by the skill future maybe i just give you this this is not the schedule for for for the upcoming program but this is for the last batch basically i want to show is every month we have to fulfill 60 hours um basically it's about maybe every morning uh 20 days every morning you have a half day either morning or afternoon so for every day for the five day probate so you will finish this within nine months and with the lecture sessions lecture can be on online but the lab sessions in the last few modules will be mainly in the in the lab so i think this is you know just overview about 10 modules and the timing can be either in the morning or afternoon so this just gives you an idea how the the timing for or schedule for this advanced welding technology program i think that's all for me any questions you can ask later on thank you thank you very much thank you thank you dr sun chung our next speaker our next speaker is uh dr ukri who is a section manager in the joining and machining group simtech but he'll be sharing on smart machining and digitalization over to you dr dewey can hear me yes can hear it okay okay thanks can you show my screen yes okay uh good morning everyone i'm luke from simtech uh today i will introduce the sgus programming on smart machining and digitalization uh machining is not new is a hundred years 150 years ago people already working on cleaning and it's a kind of machining so today we are look at how can we making this a machining technology more advanced and more aligned to the industrial 4.0 that's why the smart machining or adaptive machining as well as digitization will become to the next generation for the machining and the domain of traditional conventional cnc machining okay look at the name powerpoint so look at the industry uh from industrial 1.0 to industry 4.0 we know in early days 1784 there is industrial 1.0 that is due
to the mechanization mechanicalization steam power and welding loop so that actually the machine is introduced to the industry then later in 1870 industrial 2.0 actually is come from the mass production like four foot foot uh line for the car making so due to uh for the the producer component or product in mass volume large volume then industry 3.0 is more on automotion and computerization and electronics so that the mass production become more efficient today we are in a journey to industry 4.0 we are having a cyber physical system and the internet so that can link all machine worldwide working together to achieve the output in efficient way as well as a short leading time so globally the major uh countries giants they are putting a lot of effort to initiate the industry 4.0 and their look at the us actually is they call smart manufacturing industry 4.0 and europe germany is a manufacturing 4.0
germany is industrial 4.0 and the uk industry 4.0 europe is alignment national plans as well and back to asia china is made in china 2025 is more focused on manufacturing japan is more look at the robotic revolution initiative society 5.0 all those are big giants is putting tremendously effort and resource to working on industrial 4.0 and indeed industrial 4.0 is a the trend actually towards the smart automotion and data exchange in manufacturing technologies as well as a process they are including those a fundamental concept is that smart manufacturing smart factories lie out also no dark factories as yet as there's a whole factories no operators engineers just sitting in the control room to monitor whole factories so that the efficiency is largely improved and another is a iiot is industrial internet of things so around the industry 4.0 and the
management 4.0 there's a eight key elements for the this uh trend is more like cyber cyber security big data automotion and robot am cd printing system information system integration and simulation crowding cloud computing as well as internet of things so this is a part of the industry 4.0 and the cyberphysical is a basic of like industrial 4.0 he can enable the new technologies or new capabilities so through this cyber physical system we can do remote scenes so like a remote diagnosis remote service remote control so we can do the arrange the manufacturing operations is not to be attained in the factory another is that there is a monitoring so we can do the condition monitoring to the individual machine we can do health system health monitoring to [Music] tell us when we can do the maintenance when needed and also we can do structure healthy monitoring for the overall besides that we also can chase in trick and tracing so when something happens we can back look at the data and look at the record find out what a source causing this happen so that the tracing and track and tracing also important to help us to continuously improve this industrial 4.0 technology actually making the product from physical to digital then to digital then to from digital to physical so this is become a cycle then for physical digital potential uh information technology and operation technology can be a census and control can be available can be ai for the teacher itself we may need a signal aggregation optimization and partition uh virtualization and point of user deliver delivery and also for high performance computing finally we need from the digital to the physical to make the component making a product so that editing manufacturing advanced materials autonomous robotics teacher design and estimation will help us to realize the product from digital to physical tool is a cycle they have a lot of information but sometimes our information is overflowed can we do optimize this over the optimize of this overload information making those information useful so the fundamental level one is that actually in the past we all do is like a operation report just recall down what is happen that is uh just for us can uh check the the situation so next level actually we'll go about is find out what has happened so this is a more descriptive analytics so for that can use for uh business user reporting or financial budgeting reporting as well and but this is not enough going forward we need to know why did it happen so diagnosis analytical is important based on the information so we can do data exploration and analyze do the budgeting and planning this is uh tell us why did this happen so once we know why did this happen we can avoid next time this happened again but this is not enough final goal is that what is going to happen so this is called productive analyticals can we do a project uh what will happen so that we can pre action so this is called predictive analytical and machine learning this is a the goal we need towards today for long machine we all know for the individual machine can carry on certain uh processing manufacturing process so but today we can do machine-to-machine communication that means that two machines can communicate machine tool can know what's a reference or datum datum point machine one is used and what's the start point for machine two so that they can streamline and the process reduce the setting time whatever this is the so more machine together we can use and apply application platform for the big volumes of machines together so that they can uh talk uh to communicate each other so those are this system can be based on cyber phase production system and those system that all data is put in the cloud network so that the factories or machines can be located at different locations and together become a fracture one can be located now at the place a and factor two similarly have this system can be located in the uh location b and these two factors can choose internet communication to do the production so that can make a smart material to smart product even though they are distributed they are located at different space so this is the smart manufacturing today and the new trend for industrial 4.0 is that the prevent by not only technical chain also economic competition conditions as well as competitors challenge and marketing requirement so we have a basic uh abc technology of smart is a is argue augmented reality b is a big data c is a cloud computing and we also have a smart simulation system integration additive manufacturing automotion remote control and internet of things so this is a is a become a technology basic technology for the industrial 4.0
so lisa of course actually we are addressing some relevant information we have in uh three or seven skill based training module plus one lab based training as well as a two-project basic training so can help us to obtain some knowledge and skills for smart machining and digitalization but modules we including service enhancement and finishing technology this is a more data driven so we have looks like a laser service finishing mechanical service finishing like slapping polishing pinion brushing punishing rosa self enhancement technology so we can to lisa module to establish some uh data then based on the data we can see uh the for applications for end user they can uh straightforward to recommend which condition which uh technology can be used and what's the tooling and conditions as well as the outcome was expected outcomes secondly the module two is a dimensional management and methodology is similar to the dr someone's module more on the measurement and qualification third module is a machining dynamics for productivity improvement actually is a small investment but can immediately to improve the productivity third is advanced smart machining we are talking about mode on the sensorlink on the data connection and smart machining so this four module is more on machining then another three module is more on digitization so we have data mining for correlation analyze iot for the equipment condition monitoring and alert and overall equipment effect effectiveness so this is uh more look at the uh process digitization and uh efficiency improvement last key module is more a lab-based practice and a project-based practice so it's similar to other programming so for smart machining we first we need to sensor the machine so that we have different sensors to connecting to the machine then we have a using this sensor do the data capturing to uh have the initial status compared to the the original status so based on this uh data capture we do process uh cycling do the two pass planning then for the next stage is to machine out the component so this can help us increase reliability and accuracy but can reduce the cycle time scrap rate as well as hse issues for condition monitoring we know the individual machine today we can have a sensor built-in on the machine system then we have a data acquisition system to capture those data then from the list data we can extract those features and specify the features then to classify the features to later then based on that to evaluate the performance of the machining so we can have a individual uh machine linked to doula monitoring real time also we can link those uh data's data into the internet so that the users engineer manager directors can monitor the machine at any time at anywhere for machining dynamics is that we just use some uh commercial tool sensors cameras as well as data equation system and our software to analyze individual machine characteristics so that we can do improve you can see like initially they have uh some uh shutter mark and two lists are analyzed we can optimize the condition achieve those are no settling or smooth surface while we have a more a larger material remove rate so that we not only reduce chattering also can increase efficiency these are already adopted up to more than 30 companies and likely the efficiency is improved at least 20 percent and for data mining actually the sensors is uh attached to the machining process like a accessory meter dynometer a sensors then we conducting the testing to collecting data and apply key means clustering to analyze data then generate the best performance out cutting condition so that to help to optimize the machining process without further investment of the machining tools as well for the overall equipment efficiency in the past we all do the manual data recording so this is not easy to visible the abnormal when happened so in this case the also the data may be lost and all the not in accuracy for the data collected nowadays we can using this equation look at to improve the productivity we can either reduce the input or increase output oee will play this role to optimize the machine utilization rate so that you have a higher productivity and iot is that based on the machine condition sensor status we can have loads of data then we have a physical layout view of the processing and real-time data display so that we can trace back the historical data and this data can be a in different reporting format like a pdf also can show us the win like the schedule for the maintenance for the weather tear part replacement finally the quality assurance so that is industrial 4.0 uh quality focus 4.0 level one only look at the physical system physical data qualified quality data level two is a data storage level three is a service system so not only the management data but also can do the data processing and evolution and methodology to analyze data to lend feedback to the manufacturing system to improve to collect any failure or mistake happen again so we are having this uh 10 uh module four module is more on machining three module is more on digitalization and tree module is more practice hands-on in the lab working with our engineers and scientists on a specific instrument or specific topic related to smart machining and digitalization so overall our practice our strategy is a learning practice and implementation so we will have classroom lectures on the basic technology and skill and also we are shared some industrial case that based on the past we are working with a company to address some issues and problems secondly the practice so lisa is can be have a problem statement by the trainee or by the company then training working with the scientist engineer at simtec to address the this problem then to work out the solution and report finally reporting the outcome in the end we need to have a assessment so may have a written assessment as well as although this is uh cosby is much similar to the others yeah so that's all from my part thank you okay back to siri thank you thank you thank you very much thank you dr you so our next speaker is dr nan who is the scientist and he is going to actually be um touching on i'm sorry additive and manufacturing so over to you doctor thank you shall we uh hello everyone good morning this is zhendan so i will be sharing with you the details of our okay oh can you see my screen yes okay okay i'll be sharing with you the details of our sgos additive manufacturing program which consists of our wsq graduate diploma in additive manufacturing so in simtec we have over the years developed a full suite of integrated end-to-end solutions for additive manufacturing to enable the acceleration of industry adoption and through this program the participant can acquire the necessary skills to be part of the journey into digital manufacturing and also learn and experience the key processing workflow of additive manufacturing there are five modules in order to obtain the wsq graduate diploma the course is delivered in a learn practice implement training model participants will be awarded a graduate diploma in precision engineering additive manufacturing specialization after successfully completing all five required modules as shown here alternatively participants will be awarded a wsq statement of attainment electronic certificate for passing any individual module now let's skim through the course topics module by module module 1 is the overview of the editing manufacturing technology which includes print file preparation reverse engineering topology optimization etc and materials am systems post-processing international standards and qualifications will also be covered here the module will end with a project work where participants can apply what they have learned in this module to solve the given problems and more details about module one there are five sessions in total in this module these include lectures hands-on practices and project work the last session is competency assessment the practical sessions are primarily in learning software that is related to print file preparation reverse engineering simulation and topology optimization module 2 is the overview of of the of the metal powder back additive manufacturing including financial printing selective laser melting and electron beam melting the participant will be able to operate the 3d printers in our lab under instructor's guidance for module 2 there are 15 sessions in total as well the topics we cover also include metal powder production and quality assessment of am parts and again the module will end with a project work and competency assessment module 3 is about a blonde powder additive manufacturing processes this part has been covered by dr liuke when compared to powder bed base am that i just mentioned in module 2 blonde powder am is more suitable for performing repair or printing on existing parts there are 14 sessions in module 3 as shown here module 4 will cover polymer-based am processes including stereo lithography 3d polymer jetting selective laser centering and fuse deposition modelling etc for module 4 there are 15 sessions that consist of lectures and practical lab sessions for polymer-based 3dam processes and the module will end with a project work and competency assessment module 5 is a common module it's about planning and managing projects for implementation it's a shorter module with only 10 sessions for sgus program there will be five additional modules to take module six is data mining for correlation analysis or so called dm light this module covers a set of methodologies of conducting problem solving using the data mining approach the course will equip the participant with the ability to use data mining techniques to solve actual industrial problems module 7 is iiot enable equipment condition monitoring and alert or so-called iecom we all know that machine breaks down and unplanned downtime will affect equipment availability and interrupts the operation and the behavior of services so it's important to monitor equipment's condition and alerting its impeding values this module is specifically developed for local industry needs module eight is designed to provide extensive hazard practice training and basic skills of common processes generalization methods and data analysis encounter in additive manufacturing the module consists of 44 sessions or around 130 hours in total that will offer you the opportunity to learn and operate the process equipment and analytical instruments in syntax lab this can reinforce your knowledge learn from the technical skill modules so under the guidance of the trainers you are expected to do hands-on work in these three categories additive manufacturing process skills training qualization methods and analysis and data processing and analysis and finally module 9 and 10 are project-based trainings these two modules are designed for the participants to gain the practical skills and competency in implementing suitable 3dm technologies this table is to show the content of module 8. the rows marked in greens are left-based practical sessions to complement module one and session from 16 to 24 will go along with module 2 sessions from 25 to 34 are for module 3 and sessions 35 to 40 are for modules module 4 and the remaining sessions are lab-based trainings for module 6. this is a sample schedule for the previous batch there are two class time slots
