SAMSUNG TU8500 vs AU8000 Smart TVs 4K HDR Dynamic Crystal Color

Show video

Hi, I hope you are doing great In this video I am bringing to you the side by side comparison between the Smart TVs Samsung TU8500 of 55" and the Samsung AU8000 of 60" Keep in mind that the TU8500 of 50" and this of 55" both have VA panels. And the TU8500 of 65" has a type of IPS panel known by Samsung as PLS panel In the case of the AU8000 all the sizes available have VA panels Also keep in mind that in terms of prices, at least here in Colombia the difference is about $80 USD being the AU8000 the more expensive One thing I want to mention is that before I recorded this comparison, a lot of subscribers asked me which one should they buy And I told them that what I remembered was that the TU8500 has better results in some areas However, by doing this side by side comparison I was surprised by this AU8000 because in terms of colors and brightness shows great results too But the TU8500 in terms of Black uniformity it is slightly better So, each one of these TVs has Cons and Pros that you will see through out of this video. Watch the entire video and decide which one is a better option for you Here you can corroborate these are the Tu8500 (2020 model) at the left, and the AU8000 (2021 model) at the right These are their Remotes, the one on the left which is TU8500´s remote I think this curve adds a better and more ergonomic grab And I am not saying the the Remote of the AU8000 feels terrible, but I prefer the grab of the TU8500´s remote because it feels more comfortable Neither of these Remotes support solar panel nor charge via USB port. They both use disposable batteries The design of the OS is the same, the smoothness is good on both TVs Keep in mind that the OS of both TVs is called Tizen by Samsung. They do Not support Android TV The speed when opening Apps is almost the same and relatively fast on both TVs The Storage is 3.82 GB for the TU8500 at the left, and 3.84 GB for the AU8000 at the right. I think on both cases the storage is more than enough for almost every user

Here you can delete, reinstall or move to the main menu the Apps you have installed Both TVs support the most popular Apps such as Netflix, Directv Go, Apple TV, Disney Plus, HBO Go, among others The functionality known as Screen Mirroring or smart view is possible on both TVs, but the TU8500 as you can see supports also the Multi View which is activated automatically With this Multi View you can pick one screen to be shown, go back to multi view and pick the other screen if you want to The Multi View is possible by using your Smartphone and at the same time something connected to some HDMI port. It is Not possible with any native App of the TV You can change the sizes of the 2 screen or the location of one of them. The Multi view is Not possible on the AU8000 (only the screen mirroring) Talking about their Web Browsers, the design and functionality are practically the same The searching by voice commands is only possible when you access to some search engine. I will use Google as an example The searching by voice commands in Spanish it is Not possible yet in some countries I don´t know why (guys on Samsung support do Not know the reason neither) And in English it is possible and it is very accurate. I will make a test As you can see the searching by voice commands is very accurate, at least most of the time The time to open websites depends mainly to the internet download speed, but here they both are connected to the same wifi network, and the AU8000 opens slightly faster the web sites The navigation experience is the same on both TVs. You won´t experience the same facility as you can get by using the magic remotes of LG TVs, but it is at least not stressful And of course both can reproduce multimedia content by using Anime web sites, adult films web sites, regular web sites In some web sites you will see some annoying pop ads, other web sites don´t have this annoying ads Let´s go now with the comparison in terms of picture quality, and in this area I want to correct some technical specs about the TU8500 Look, I don´t have the devices in order to measure the amount of nits (brightness) of every TV The technical specs I tell you in every of my videos are based n web sites such as rtings.com, pixeltv.it, among others because they have the equipment

Unfortunately on rtings.com they never reviewed the TU8500 because this model never arrived to Canada Hence I told the technical info about the TU8500 that I found on pixeltv.it and they wrote that the TU8500 has 330 nits for HDR content So, rtings.com says that the AU8000 has 304 nits for HDR, and in this comparison I noticed more brightness (more clarity) on the AU8000, hence the TU8500 must really have about 290 nits more or less and Not 330 nits

In terms of contrast ratio, some web sites write that the TU8500 has 6400:1 and others 6900:1 and in practice I think that its contrast ratio might be between these values And the contrast ratio for the AU8000 is 3811:1 And even if the contrast ratio on the AU8000 is much slower, in practice I observe also very good details and a very good HDR experience Keep in mind that the HDR experience in terms of making everything looks realistic depends mainly to the contrast ratio You won´t notice a super bright (super clear) HDR experience for obvious reasons, but in terms of "reality" you will Both TVs support the technology known as Dynamic Crystal Color My perceptions is that on both Tvs the colors look very intense or "strong" The main difference in terms of color is that the TU8500 shows darker colors and the AU8000 slightly lighter colors but still very intense It is a matter of every person´s likes and dislikes. I like the job on both TVs, but it is true that in most scenes I like a little bit more the results on the AU8000 at the right (2021 entry-level model) With this type of SDR (standard Dynamic Range) content the differences are also the same: slightly darke colors on the TU8500 and slightly lighter colors on the AU8000, but in both cases the colors look very "strong" or intense The difference in terms of brightness it is not so notorious as by watching HDR content, but still there is a slightly higher amount of brightness on the AU8000 So, in terms of colors it is very subjective: some may like more the intense and darker colors of the TU8500, and others the lighter but also intense colors of the AU8000 Both TVs in terms of colors do a very good job. They won´t show washed out colors In terms of Gray Unifromity, the TU8500 at the left does a slightly better job I don´t know if you guys can notice that on the AU8000 at the right there some dark gray "stains" all around the screen which are Not super annoying but still slightly perceptible However, by watching regular content you won't notice these "stains" This might Not be a huge problem but some people like when I compare this too. And as I said, the gray uniformity it is slightly better on the TU8500 at the left In terms of Black Unifromity I want you guys to watch this. I will point it with the lights on and when I turn the off, I don´t know if you can notice this "cloud" on the AU8000 which is more "intense" compared to the other "clouds" around the screen

The Clouding effect is slightly more notorious on the AU8000 at the right probably because it has a slightly higher amount of brightness Keep in mind that neither of these TVs support Full-Array nor Local Dimming. The Backlight technology on both TVs is Edge The Backlight Bleeding effect on both TVs is slightly notorious because their backlight technology is Edge, and this let´s say it is kind of normal However, the backlight bleeding problem on both TVs is Not so no notorios and not so annoying unless you watc their screens from a very wide angle. But if you always are in front of their screens, this problems is Not so notorious But, keep in mind that the Clouding and the Backlight Bleeding effects are much more notorious on TVs with IPS panels. So, don´t forget this So, the black uniformity is better and the Clouding intensity lower on the TU8500, but the difference is Not huge between these 2 TVs In terms of Motion Handling I think that both TVs do a very good job Both TVs in the expert settings of every picture mode have this parameter called "Picture Clarity Settings", and when is set on "Automatic" will do a very good job when the content has 30 FPS or more The Stutter and Judder problems are almost imperceptible for the human eye And if the content you are watching has 24 FPS or less, you can try to set the Picture Clarity Settings on "Custom" and modify this value manually and also try the LED Clear Motion Just keep in mind that if the content has 30 FPS or more, it is very likely that the LED Clear Motion will create flicker and stutter which is more notorious on the AU8000 at the right So, if the content has 30 FPS or more, turn off the LED Clear Motion and set the Picture Clarity Settings on "Automatic" In terms of Image Upscaling I will tell you what I always mention: Don´t believe when sellers tell you that any 4K TV will show 4K resolution with any type of content If the content has 480p, 720p (HD) or 1080p (full HD), the results will never reach a 4K resolution These 2 TVs show the same results. With 480p resolution you will notice some slight pixelated content, and with 720p (HD) of resolution the job is slightly better and the pixelated content is tolerable With 1080p content the results are much better, you won´t notice any pixelated areas and the results look like if they had more resolution, but the results still won´t reach a 4K resolution (keep that in mind) With 1440p content the results are very near to a 4K resolution in terms of Image Upscaling And of course both TVs can reproduce native 4K on SDR and HDr without any And of course both TVs can reproduce native 4K content on SDR and HDr without any problems Just keep in mind that the native 4K content by using streaming Apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, etc. will be shown at this UHD resolution only if your internet download speed is very high at your home If the internet download speed is poor the Apps will lower the resolution in order to improve the smoothness The Viewing Angles on both TVs are Not good, but this is a normal thing about TVs with VA panels and high contrast ratio The results in theory are slightly better on the AU8000 because it has a lower contrast ratio, but un practice the results are very similar (whitish colors when your watch their screens from a very wide angle) Hence, I consider that these 2 TVs are only recommended if you always are going to be watching their screens by being in front of them, or at least Not from a very wide angle The Reflections Handling on both TVs are very decent despite of being TVs with VA panels (IPS panels tend to win in this area too) Both Tvs are very decent VA panel TV choice to enjoy in bright rooms Let´s go now with the gaming comparison of both TVs Here I will show you what their Game modes allow me to enable or to modify The TU8500 has as you can notice the Game Motion Plus where you can modify manually the judder and enable the LED Clear Motion if you want, and the AU8000 does Not support these features Both TVs have this option which is the HGIG (HDR Gaming Interest Group) which in the TU8500 is located on the External Device Manager parameter And this option will improve contrast and brightness in this type of video games as this DOOM: Eternal because it has HDR ([High Dynamic range) support And the expert settings will be set with the same values on both TVs for a fair comparison Keep in mind that this Gamma and Shadow Detail will decrease the Clouding intensity if you decrease their values The Input Lag of the TU8500 according to some web sites is 10 ms on average And on the AU8000 according to rtings.com, the input for video games in 4K at 60Hz with SDR is 11,1 ms and with HDR 10,9 ms

I think that these Input lag times on both TVs are very good even for some demanding gamers if we keep in mind we are talking about 2 relatively big screens In terms of gaming technologies, neither of these TVs support HDMI 2.1 ports, hence they won't reach 120Hz at 4K (they do support 60Hz at 4K) Neither of these TVs support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) technologies such as Freesync or G-Sync These TVs only support ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) which will activate automatically the game mode when they detect a console compatible with this technology The Response Time on the AU8000 is 15,3 ms, and on the TU8500 I don´t know this value but I think it might be vey close to the 15 ms In terms of motion and smoothness I think that these 2 TVs do a very good job if we keep in ind these 2 TVs are entry-level models Let´s say that the TU8500 is the high-end of the low-range models from 2020, and the AU8000 is the mid-range of the low-range models from 2021 In terms of colors, contrast and details I think that both TVs do a very good job too Here you also can see darker and intense colors on the TU8500 and lighter but also intense colors on the AU8000 You guys please let me know which TV do you like the most in terms of colors, at the comments section down below In terms of HDR (HIgh Dynamic Range) technologies both TVs support HDR10, HLG and HDR10+. Neither of these TVs support Dolby Vision In the future I will upload a new video comparing these 2 TVs again but only by playing several video games The heating on screen after almost 2 hours of continued use is normal on both TVs. From 32 °C (89.6 °F) to 35 °C (95 °F) more or less You won´t feel a tremendous heating when getting close to their screens, and this is great In a few seconds you will see and hear the performance of the sound systems of both TVs. The power is 20W on both TVs, and both Tvs Support the sound technologies Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. They don´t support DTS

In practice I liked more the job on the TU8500 at the left, in terms of fidelity and bass On rtings.com they mention that the sound quality of the AU8000 decreased maybe due to its slimmer desing (the TU8000 has a slightly better sound too) So, the AU8000 is Not the best choice in terms of sound but it is Not terrible either Please enjoy the performance of their sound systems and judge by yourselves
