Hi, I hope you are doing great In this video I am bringing to you the side-by-side comparison between the Smart TVs Samsung QLED Q70R (2019 model) and the Neo QLED QN85A (2021 model) I am doing this comparison mainly because in some countries the Q70R is still on sale in the sizes of 55", 65", etc., and all they have VA panels And this Neo QLED QN85A has an ADS Panel In this comparison I will show you some of the most important smart features of both TVs, the picture quality with SDR and HDR content, their gaming performance and also the power of their sound systems So, watch the entire video so you can decide which one of these TVs is a better option for you guys, or at least for you to realize if is worth to pay almost twice the price for the Neo QLED QN85A First of all here you can corroborate that these are the Samsung Q70R of 55" (2019 model) at the left, and the Neo QLED QN85A of 55" (2021 model) at the right And these are the latest software versions so far for both TVs. The 1374 for the Q70R and the 1506 for the QN85A These are their Remotes known as One Remotes. The One Remote of the Q70R I think is more ergonomic thanks to this curve, hence it has more comfortable grip

However, the One Remote of the QN85A has a solar panel and also can be charged via USB Type-C The OS is Tizen by Samsung for both TVs. The smoothness of the OS on the Q70R is very good despite of being 2 years old. On Both TVs is great, I don´t have complaints The speed to open Apps and their Apps Stores is very good on both TVs The Storage on the Q70R is 4,07 GB, and on the QN85A is 3,85 GB. On both cases I consider this storage more than enough for almost every user Both TVs support popular and Not so popular Apps. The Apps may vary according to every country and region The Screen Mirroring is possible on both TVs. As you can see it works fine on the Q70R at the left

But, the Q70R does Not support this smart feature known as Multi View, which it is supported by the Neo QLED QN85A With this Multi View you for example can watch a workout routine and at the same time watch yourselves by using your Smart Galaxy with One UI 3.1 or higher ... ... or by using a Web cam (only some Logitech references are supported so far) Talking about their Web Browsers, on both TVs the searching by voice commands is possible and works fine, but in Spanish on the QN85A is Not possible yet I don´t know why Both Web Browsers allow to play content from differente web sites (anime, adult films, regular films) ... ... just keep in mind that some web sites will show more ads than others, and some servers may Not allow to play the content because these TVs do Not support Android as OS ... ... and in that case you hace to try another web sites. But in most cases they work fine Let´s go now with the Picture Quality comparison starting first with the Gray Unifromity and the Dirty Screen Effect On both TVs the Dirty Screen Effect is notorious but Not so much The corners on the Q70R are slightly darker than the rest of the screen, and also slightly darker compared to the QN85A at the right The difference of the darker corners is Not brutal between these TVs, but if you pay attention you will notice slightly darker corners on the Q70R at the left However, with normal content this Dirty Screen Effect and dark corners are Not so notorious In terms of Black Uniformity the most important thing to know is that both TVs support Full-array as backlight technology ... ... but the QN85A has mini-LEDs while the Q70R has conventional LEDs The QLED Q70R has only 50 Local Dimming Zones, and the Neo QLED QN85A has 576 Local Dimming zones However, the Contrast Ratio is higher on the Q70R with a Native Contrast Ratio of 7250:1 and with the Local Dimming is 8056:1. Remmeber that it has a VA Panel On the other hand the QN85A has a Native Contrast Ratio of 1373:1 and with the Local Dimming is 1956:1. Remember that it has an ADS Panel (which performs similar to an IPS Panel) Look. The black colors are better on the QN85A, but the QN85A has a more notorios Blooming effect in most cases when you watch the screen in-angle and off-angle, and off-angle the Blooming effect might much more annoying

In terms of the Yellowish Blooming that you already saw in the review that I uloaded about this QN85A which is also notorious on the QN90A (because the Latin America version has an ADS Panel) ... ... is especially notorious when the screen is viewed off-angle This is the Q70R and when you watch the screen in-angle (being in fron of the screen), the balck colors look great ... ... but when you watched the screen off-angle (a wider viewing angle) ... ... you can percieve some slight purplish Couding effect which might be slightly tolerable for some poeple Keep in mind that the Q70R is recommended to watch in-angle due to its VA Panel, becuase its viewing angles are Not good In the case of this QN85A the black colors look better especially if you watch the screen in-angle (being in fron of it) ... ... but if you watch the screen off-angle you start to percieve this yellowish Blooming which is more or less notorious and annoying depending on every scene The thing is that people expect that ADS panel has good viewing angles with vivid colors content but also with dark scenes content Some persons say that this yellowish Blooming effect is a factory problem that has occured in the firs Neo QLED production with ADS panels ... ... but other persons say that this problem will remain also in the future units of this QN85A and QN90A with ADS Panels ... but I don´t know Just keep in mind that the QN85A and the QN90A (55" and 65" models from Latin America) have ADS Panels with this yellowish Blooming In terms of the viewing angles I already mentioned that the Q70R does Not perform good in this area (colors look whitish) due to its VA panel On the other hand, the viewing angles of the QN85A are much better (colors don´t look so whitish) due to its ADS Panel which performs similar to IPS panels TVs with VA panel due to its higher contrast usually tend to have Not so good viewing angles compared to ADS and IPS panels, but this is normal in almost every TV with VA panel The Reflections Handling is oustanding on the QN85A at the right thanks Not only to its ADS panel but also to its very high amount of brightness However, the Q70R at the left does a very decent job in this area despite of having VA panel thanks to its very decent amount of brightness For bright rooms is more recommended the QN85A, but the Q70R is a decent choice too for bright rooms Let´s now compare both TVs by watching content in HDR and SDR with vivid colors First thing you must know is that the HDR brightness of the Q70R is 747 nits, and for the QN85A is 1222 nits In terms of colors the main difference is that the QN85A at the right, shows more intense and saturated colors However, the Q70R at the left also shows intense and slightly saturated colors when compared to other QLED TVs But, when the QLED Q70R is compared side by side againts the Neo QLED QN85A, the the colors look less intense and with less saturation in every picture mode Talking about the HDR experience in terms of a more realitic, both TVs do a very good job Just keep in mind that the image on the QN85A looks brighter without opacity In the case of the Q70R the image looks less bright, but bright enough for a very good HDR experience, and also without opacity As you can see, the Q70R does Not support the Filmmaker mode, while the QN85A does support it. This happens with SDR and HDR content In terms of HDR technologies, both TVs support HDR10, HLG and HDR10+. They don´t support Dolby Vision (none of the current Samsung Tvs support Dolby Vision)

In this type of content with SDR, the Q70R has 449 nits of brightness, and the QN85A 1156 nits In terms of colors you can notice the same differences: more intense and saturated colors on the QN85A, and less saturation, less intensity and less brightness on the Q70R Talking about the Motion Handling, both TVs do a very good job. Both TVs have parameters to decrease judder, blur and stutter, in every picture mode On the Q70R this parameter is called "Auto Motion Plus", and on the QN85A is called "Picture Clarity settings" The Q70R has also a parameter called "Digial Clean View" which si similar to the Noise Reduction that the QN85A has inside the Picture Clarity Settings On both TVs, setting this parameter on "Automatic" most of the time show the best results, but also can try setting this parameter "custom" especially fi the content has 24 or less FPS But as I said, on "Automatic" their jobs are almost perfect most of the time In terms of Image Upscaling, beyond the obvious differences in terms of brightness and colors in favor of the QN85A ... I though that the difference was going to be very notorious with low resolution content (720p, 480p, etc.) in favor of the QN85A, but the truth is that the Q70R does a very decent job I though that the pixelated and blurry areas were going to be worse on the Q70R with low resolution content (720p, 480p, etc.), but the truth is that both TVs do almost the same job The pixelated and blurry areas with 720p (HD) content is tolerable on both TVs, but with 480p and lower resolution content these "problems" might be more notorious and less tolerable With 1080p (full HD) content both TVs do a very good job, you won´t see pixelated areas, and in fact the content looks like if it had more resolution but won´t get a 4K resolution With 1440p content the results look very near to a 4K resolution on both TVs And of course both TVs can reproduce native 4K in SDR and HDR without any problems Just keep in mind that if you are going o watch 4K content by using streaming Apps such as Netflix Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc. you have to have a good internet download speed ... ... otherwise these Apps will automatically lower the resolution of the content in order to improve smoothness Let´s go now with the gaming performance starting first with their Input Lag times For the Q70R the Input Lag in 4K at 60Hz with HDR is 14,9 ms, and for the QN85A is 9,8 ms The Q70R supports 120Hz only up to 1440p with an Input Lag time of 6,1 ms, and the QN85A supports 120Hz up to 4K with an input Lag time of 5,3 ms The QN85A has 1 HDMI 2.1 port, while the Q70R does Not support HDMI 2.1 ports

In terms of gaming technologies, both the Q70R supports VRR Freesync but GSync is Not supported. The QN85A supports GSync and Freesync Premium Both TVs support ALLM which will automatically enable the game mode when the TVs detect a console compatible with this technology In terms of picture quality the difference in terms of colors is the same: more intensity and saturation on the QN85A In terms of Blooming, this "problem" is more notorios on the QN85A at the right So, the Q70R shows a purplish Clouding with a Not so notorios Blooming ... ... while the QN85A show less clouding, better blacks, but the Blooming is more notorious, and the yellowish Blooming will be notorious when the screen is viewed off-angle But I repeat that the black colros look better on the QN85A at the right When playing this video game Resident Evil 7, I noticed this kind of funny results: the Q70R shows a extreme clarity but it is Not annoying ... ... in fact this extreme clarity on the Q70R might be very useful for people who have sight problems, or for people who prefer being able to watch more details by playing these kind of horror video games And we might say that the QN85A shows us a more immersive horror experience So, in this case is a matter or personal likes and dislikes The yellowish Blooming on the QN85A is less notorious in his video game, compared to the previous video game Destiny 2 The QLED and Neo QLED technologies has the characteristic of show saturation in some colors as for example the blue, red and in this case the greens On both TVs the green colors look very intense and saturated, but as you can see this saturatioin is higher on the QN85A at the right, while on the Q70R let´s say that these colors look mroe "natural" So, in this case is also a matter or personal likes and dislikes In terms of heating on Screen both TVs show normal temperatures: from 34 °C (93.2 °F) to 36 °C (96.8 °F), more or less You won´t feel an extremew heating when getting closer to their screens And this is good despite of both Tvs having relatively high amounts of brightness and the support for VRR Freesync (Q70R) and VRR GSync and Freesync Premium (QN85A) In a few seconds you will be able to hear wnad watch the performance of their Sound Systems The sound power of the Q70R at the left is 40W and for the QN85A at the right is 60W In terms of sound technologies, the Q70R supports ARC and Dolby Digital only by using the HDMI port with ARC. The Q70R does Not support Dolby Atmos not DTS The QN85A on the other hand supports eARC, and the Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos are also supported but only by using the HDMI port with eARC support. The QN85A does Not support DTS

If you ask me which one will I choose, I will have to say that the Q70R will be my choice (if I was not a Youtuber who has to buy all the TVs possible) Why? Well: 1. I dont need HDMI 2.1 ports becuase I am not a demanding or dedicated gamer 2. The price of the Q70R is almost half 3. For me, having 747 nits of brightness for HDR contentn is more than enough

4. The Q70R has a higher contrast ratio with very good black uniformity most of the time 5. Even if the viewing angles of the Q70R are Not good due to its VA panel, this is Not a problem for me because I always will watch the screen in-angle (being in front of it) So, according to what you are going to use your TV for, make the smartest choice: decide if the Q70R is enough or if is worth to pay almost twice for the QN85A To end this video, watch, hear and judge the sound system of both TVs Please support me by becoming a PATREON.
