all right you ready ready okay uh welcome everyone to the awards uh rofast online world championship uh closing and award ceremony uh here's the agenda again we're all checked in i'll be introducing the master of ceremonies in a moment uh we'll start with a video presentation uh against giving some highlights then we'll have a national flag presentation we'll have some video remarks by the president of ltu dr vernier module then the provost for ltu will be giving some special awards uh then we'll have the awards category starting with robo arts then umc robomed exhibition bottle similar time trial hopefully around nine o'clock uh that'll take roughly about two hours uh finally some clo uh final information on how to get winter certificates medals and trophies and then i'm the director of robofest i'll be giving some closing remarks and then we'll give some final recognitions take a group photo and then hopefully we'll be done by at least 11 20 uh eastern daylight time and international directors and site hosts may stay on for a brief roundtable discussion about the plans for uh the 2022 season uh following the closing of the board ceremony uh so next i'd like to introduce uh mr jay jessen he's our master of ceremonies he's the assistant director of the barber stem center at lawrence technological university so jay you may introduce yourself thank you dr cartwright i really appreciate that and thank you everyone for having me here today i've only been with lawrence tech for about two months so this is a huge honor for me i've spent roughly 15 years in higher education as well as the big three automotive world as an automotive and engineering design recruiter but here at lawrence tech i'm really excited to work primarily with k-12 educators and our community partners to develop long-term lasting partnerships and introduce students to new possibilities in steam and stem education and have people be able to see the rewarding careers for that so it's a wonderful opportunity to be here today so thank you again all right so to start off we have a video highlighting the activities from the 2021 robofest season including in-person online and video qualifiers as well as summer camps and workshops now me [Music] so [Music] we thought the hygiene genie concept is very unique and important to the community first our robot has a color sensor which follows the white tape around the room the color sensor follows the edge of the white tape secondly while the color sensor is following the white tape the infrared will be detecting for objects such as tables the proximity sensor which measures the distance between it and other objects the distance with the infrared can be changed in the coast thirdly when the infrared detects an object a cloud will move inward towards the spray bottle press the button to make spray disinfectant finally the robot repeats this process one more time and when it's done it leaves the room and goes to its home base this is how it's done go we are the league of legends and we've chosen to use computer vision and robotics for early identification of skin cancers and other skin abnormalities our solution is a computer vision based screening tool i'm nick to give consistent images and lighting we need a robot to take the pictures our robot is a three axis motion system with a camera and writing pens we it also has a board that controls four different stepping motors we then send g-code over usb to tell the robot where and how fast to move i did an analysis for a asymmetry symmetric round lesions tend to be good while odd shaped ones are bad my work in the tic-tac-toe game to differentiate x's and o's help me differentiate some asymmetric and symmetric lesions stepping stones my uh it [Music] so so i'd like to thank all the coaches mentors parents students and judges who are the winners today everyone who learned is a winner awesome thank you for sharing that all right so now we want to recognize and thank the robo fest advisory board the advisory board is made up of current former robo site robofest excuse me site hosts long-term coaches and mentors the advisory board is responsible for the assessment and evaluation of robo-fest and the robo-fest stem mission today we're honored to have miss emma oliba dr cj chung dr gavin coleman and mr morris tedder here with us today dr cj chung founded robofest 22 years ago and is now the board chair thank you again for all that you do also a huge thank you to all of the teams that participated in the 2021 robofest online world championship events in all six categories which began on august 20th and just ended last week on september 25th here we have an amazing representation of 162 teams 419 students from across 13 countries that participated in the 10 separate events it became a custom at the robo-fest world championship award ceremony to have a parade of flags for all the nations that are present at the wherever you are it is a pleasure being here uh i am as jay mentioned uh the provost the chief academic officer at lawrence technological university and uh i have another title which uh is probably even a little bit more dear to my heart i am a roboticist by training my own background is the area of robotics and automation and i've been working in robotics since 1988 so for me this event is uh particularly nostalgic in so many ways and truly the epitome of education for the future we at lawrence technological university as in many other great institutions uh are very rapidly recognizing that the key to uh truly eminent outcomes and great future careers for our wonderful students is getting them as dr mood gil mentioned early on involved in great endeavors in science engineering technology and math and and frankly and of course i am biased because i'm a roboticist myself there is no discipline really that involves the uh the mixing or more exhibiting of the interdisciplinarity in education and the breadth of education needed in many fields more than the robotics field robotics is a great field that enjoys contributions uh from many many disciplines varying from mechanical engineering to electrical engineering to computer vision to artificial intelligence to even areas like biology and mathematics and so on and so forth and it is a true pleasure seeing all of our young minds and great students involved at such early stages while there are students and schools in in world class events like this i i am a professor as many of you know and that means i can probably speak non-stop for the next three hours and we do not want to do that because we have an incredibly busy and very rich schedule and we would love to honor uh both of course our arts division we are taiwanese our topic is about taiwanese [Music] [Music] hello everyone we are the kids animal protectors the animal subjects spend its time for most of frying pans [Music] hello everyone my name is the movement of the mecca from the center of the paper hello everyone we are adverts from hong kong today we would like to show you how we integrate chinese percussion into our robot [Music] once upon a time they were free to text since you played still plays let me come in we will not let you in during the performance we try to cross over us and roblox sand drawing can help us to show the whole picture of the story hello everybody we are the heroes team from the kingdom of saudi arabia our project is based on integrating the plastic art with the robotics one day a big fire broke out in a country this is our message to the whole world it's necessary for everyone to help his brother and easy or hard time hello i'm jeffy i am chase i'm jayden once upon a time animals were living in the forest happily suddenly humans came and said this is nice there's a lot of wood for us to build houses here so they chop the trees down in the end humans and animals live happily together using the railway the robot can move in the right track easily hello everyone we are shadow from hong kong china all this time dorothy and her companions have been walking through thick woods suddenly it came from a forest a terrible rock we used esp32 as the processor of the robot we designed a mobile phone app to control the robot through bluetooth to esp32 shadow puppetry is a kind of performance performing art it's also a kind of tool for therapy we are cbs j5v from macau china we use 3d printer and fusion360 to make small box we use avinventure to design our software this is an arduino program which is used to control all the bosses good morning we're experimenters from hong kong touch sensors are used to kick off the show color sensors are also used to identify the colors of the flags and perform the corresponding countries cultural dance so the first is playing with robots who play when the stage come marching in australia the largest country in oceania is home to a group of aboriginal tribes they will present to you a sasquatch robot with an idea that contains arts all in the beginning of the programming with away the taxes and break the player will have to memorize and repeat the same movement with the break buttons oh this is so exciting from all over the world okay so now it's time to present the awards i'd like to let all the teams know that we had a very difficult time and we appreciated everybody's great creativity and we look forward to what you can do for us um next year so we have a couple special words on the first special award goes to the heroes in riyadh um saudi arabia i they have earned the um excellent oh i'm sorry i have a window in front of my window uh the exceptional set award congratulations to rayad beautiful job uh our next
