POV | Full Day as a Drum Tech
good morning ladies and gentlemen welome welcome to another drum Tech POV we are in Lexington Kentucky today and actually oh there's our bus I don't know if you can see it but that's rep Arena that's where we're playing today we had a day off here yesterday and I slept basically the entire time and edited and then I had some pizza and that was about it it was a fantastic day off I needed the sleep it's 9:4 2 Lobby calls at 10: I'm just going to head down because I'm just sitting here listening to Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears on repeat for some reason we're all the way up on the 15th floor we're wearing sweat pants today f it there's no rules I don't see anywhere in the rule book where it says you have to wear black cargo shorts and a goddamn wallet chain to be a roadie I wear whatever I [Music] want yo it's damn it it's freezing here in lington Kentucky it was like I don't know what it was but it was definitely below freezing when I got out of the bus yesterday in the morning it doesn't seem as bad today but it's still way too cold for your boy that's for sure but as you guys know I'm from Arizona so I am just not built for this type of weather I hate it damn who has the cool Patagonia bag I need to step my suitcase game up morning cookie uh cam loops to Vancouver not as bad to cam loops cam loops is awful morning fellas man what's up up dude what's up brother pardon me supposed to have breakfast we're not allowed I don't care fight me well I'm going back to the bus there's nothing to do right now our gear is not even out yeah so breakfast is reserved for disturbing disturbs crew only that's not like a power thing thing it's just like we don't show up till 10:30 and they're here super early in the morning working so they why would they budget for anything else you know what I'm saying so but it's the end of the tour and there's always pastries left behind and they just get thrown away so I don't feel bad for sneaking a little pastry here and there but our cre room is really tiny I have my backpack on so I don't want to put my junk in there when the bus is right here so so I don't need to clog up the crew room with my stuff you can't see this warm this bad boy up a little bit eh little sweet treat I truly don't know where everybody goes in the morning I go in there and it's not time for us to do anything there's no room for the crew in the crew room but everybody's gone I I have no idea where everybody goes every morning I do this every morning I walk out there it's not time I can't find anybody and I just come and hang out on the bus alone you left crash we got the 18in medium thin crash all Minal as always same symbols as the last video and 10 videos before that bance 21 in C squar Ride The Relic as we know her I get a little worried that this content is going to get really repetitive to you guys but like I do the same thing every day you know what I mean I'm trying to sprinkle in some other stuff I try and share some new knowledge throughout all these videos if I can but I mean every day is a different day we're in a different place but we're doing the same thing you know what I'm talking about but we got the bense 19in medium thin crash as our main crash here I got a shipment the other day of two more for spares but they're in the Bay of the bus and everyone asks about the the pedal like the settings on it it's a DW 9000 double pedal 902 the XF so they got the longer the longer footboards but um settings as far as settings go these are just out of the box always has been out of the box that's how I've always played them that's how Luke's always played them we don't get too deep into spring tension and all that stuff you know it's just easier to play out of the box cuz when you get new pedals you're already Lo you're already used to them we got the 18in bisen China the signature bullet stack as well I won't put these up yet they go on these stands here so I'll just set them here and I'll put them on when we get on the stage we're not going to do any head changes today today is going to be an easy day not that changing heads is hard but just less work technically [Music] today going to pull these drums out let them thaw they're freaking cold what do you know now we don't need to change heads this will be the last show with the snare drum head though for sure over here fall out let them get used to their new home no practice kit today I was told I don't need to set it up today which is sick love that for me so we just put our spare spare pedals right there and leave them there today we don't have to tear them down before the show cool get the crazy Susan ready for later all right and that's about it for 11:15 push this make as much room as possible all right 11:15 I'll probably come back and uh like tap tune and an hour or so and then I'll sit around and wait like I always do let's go take a look at the venue though real quick cool R Arena every Arena always has some cool stuff on the wall welcoming the artists can I get through here without bothering anybody so I heard today was a fixed stage so unlike normal where the Stag is out here during the day it was already in place so sturb is having to do things a little differently this time we can see David over here rocking out setting up disturbs kit let's go get a bird's eyee view of this place get a little exercise in oh there it is we got Nate down there setting up audio stuff we got Alex disturbs lighting director setting up his station as well said what do you hoodlums up too uh changing bun drum heads today it is that time oh man how many shows do you do with these guys um I try to do every um probably every three shows for the main four time six shows for the two bottom snares I usually switch them out every two okay yep he's a hard Harding guy I see that don't judge the accuracy n never all right I'll leave you to it all right catering what do we have today what kind of trouble can I get into today should it get wild today guys mom tomato got to pass on that yeah we're literally going to have mac and cheese and vegetables today just a little bit brother God damn it what God damn it some sweet it felt weird I definitely need to make sure I didn't [ __ ] break it you when you hit a symbol and you can feel the bend you're like we good about 3:30 we're done plush will sound check I will be
