Hi, I hope you are doing great In this video I am bringing to you the side by side comparison between the Smart TVs NanoCell LG NANO79 (2020 model) and the LG NANO80 (2021 model). Both TVs are 50" models Important: you must know that these TVs in this size of 50" have VA panels I have corroborated by taking the picture of their pixels, so they do have VA panels Keep in mind that on LG, the Smart TVS LCD-LED such as these ones, in the sizes of 50", 60", 70" and 82", tend to have VA panels. And the rest of the sizes tend to have IPS or ADS panels The other thing I want to mention about these TVs is their prices at least here in my country Colombia This NANO79 of 50" the last year (2020) had an average price of $430 USD. And this year 2021 its price has increased up to $500 USD

Thank you In terms of the Gray Uniformity, I have to say is average. On both TVs you can notice some Dirty Screen Effect, but it is slightly morte notorious on the NANO79 at the left However, when you watch regular content (with a variety of vivid colors), this affect most of the time is practically imperceptible on both TVs Look, in terms of colors both TVs show very good results in every picture mode, especially thanks to their NanoCell technology However, with HDR content (High Dynamic Range), as for example this picture or another scene, the colors look more intense on the NANO80 at the right And also, on the NANO80 at the right you can perceive a slightly better contrast between the vivid colors and the dark areas (shadows, black colors, etc.)

The amount of brightness according to my measurements, on the NANO79 at the left is 239 nits for SDR, 246 nits for HDR, and 252 nits for HDR with the Game Mode And the amount of brightness according to my measurements, on the NANO80 at the right is 292 nits for SDR, 296 nits for HDR, and 302 nits for HDR with the Game Mode As you can see, in theory and in practice these are Not TVs with a huge amount of brightness It is slightly better in terms of brightness the NANO80 at the right, but the NANO79 at the left does Not do a bad job Both TVs, despite of their relatively low amount of brightness, show a good HDR experience especially thanks to their VA panels and their Contrast Ratio The Native Contrast Ratio on the NANO79 at the left is 4169:1 On the other hand, the Native Contrast Ratio of the NANO80 at the right is 4294:1, and with the Local Dimming is 5309:1 Both TVs has Edge backlight. Neither of these TVs support Full-Array. The NANO80 at the right supports Local Dimming and the NANO79 does Not Now, in terms of Black uniformity, let's say that on both TVs is good because they have VA panels But it is evidently much better the Black Uniformity on the NANO80 at the right as you can see The Clouding on the NANO80 at the right is less notorious with the Local Dimming off, low, medium or high However, when you set the local dimming on "high" in the NANO80, you can perceive some Blooming effect in some parts of the screen But as I said, the Clouding is usually much less perceptible on the NANO80 And I am Not saying that the NANO79 at the left does a terrible job. It is just that the difference between both TVs in this area is very notorious as you can see Here the NANO80 has the Local Dimming set on "High" When the screen is viewed off-angle the Blooming and CLouding effects are more notorious as you can see But watching the screen in-angle (being in front of it), these problems are much less perceptible as you can see And this is how it looks the NANO80 off-angle with the Local Dimming off The Blooming is almost imperceptible and the Clouding is slightly more notorious But when watching the screen in-angle (being in front of it), these problems are Not so annoying On the other hand, the NANO79 does Not a terrible job It is just that when the screen is viewed off-angle the Clouding looks slightly bluish But when watching the screen in-angle (being in front of it), this Clouding effect is Not so Notorious or annoying Remember that the Clouding is less notorious on the NANO80 In terms of the Viewing Angles, as many of you guys know This is a weak part of almost every TV with VA panel On both TVs the colors look whitish when you watch their screens off-angle The viewing angles are slightly less worse on the NANO79 due to its lower amount of contrast, but the difference is Not huge between these 2 TVs Both TVs are recommended if you are going to watch their screens in-angle or at least Not from a very wide angle The Reflections Handling is not very good on both TVs Not only due to their VA panels but also due to their relatively low amount of brightness The results are slightly better on the NANO80 thanks to the higher amount of brightness compared to the NANO79 The results are worse than TVs with ADS or IPS panels These TVs are Not the most recommended for bright rooms, bur despite of having VA panels, are at least decent choices With the Motion Handling consider that both TVs do a very good job As many of you guys know, in every picture mode (Clarity settings for the NANO80 and Picture Options for the NANO79), both TVs has the parameter TruMotion Sometimes this parameter is off in some picture modes as for example the Filmmaker mode because movies tend to have 24 or less FPS But if you notice problems of stutter or judder, you can try set it on "user" and modify The-Judder manually until you see improvements Or try to select any of these options (Cinema Clear, Natural, etc.) until you see improvements In terms of Image Upscaling the results on both TVs are practically the same With 720p (HD) content the pixelated areas are Not so annoying But with 480p or with lower resolution content the pixelated parts are more notorious and also some blur, and it might be annoying for some people With 1080p (full HD) content the Image Upscaling on both TVs is very good. The results look like if the content had more resolution, but it won't be shown in 4K

With 1440p content the results look very similar to a 4K resolution on both TVs And of course both TVs can reproduce native 4K content in SDR and HDR without any problems Just keep in mind that if you are going to watch 4K content by using streaming Apps (Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, etc.) you need to have a very good internet download speed ... ... otherwise these Apps will automatically lower the resolution of the content in order to improve their smoothness Let's go now with their Gaming Performance You must know that I don´t have a device that allows me to measure their Input Lag times But I guess that there Input Lag times must go from 9 to almost 10 ms which is the average range of current low-range and mid-range models such as these ones In practice, the Input Lag times of both TVs feel really good Just keep in mind always to turn on the Game Mode in order to have the lowest input lag time possible Here for example the NANO79 has the Game Mode enabled and NANO80 at the right has enabled a different picture mode, and as you can see the input lag time is much higher But when the Game Mode on the NANO80 is enabled, the Input Lag times on both Tvs are practically equally good as you can see This is the video game Destiny 2 (supports 4K and HDR) which has a lot of dark scenes as you can see In here, the Game Mode help to decrease the Clouding effects on both TVs, when compared to their other picture modes The Clouding keeps being less notorious on the NANO80 at the right, but I think that the NANO79 does a very good job, at least when compared to its other picture modes I think both TVs are very decent choice for gamers who play a lot horror video games, or those video games with a lot of dark scenes Because I think that the Clouding effect on both TVs, by playing these type of video games, is very tolerable This is the Resident Evil 7 (also suports 4K and HDR) Here, I consider that the horror experience is better on the NANO80 at the right because the dark areas look darker And on the NANO79 these areas look more clear. But this might be an advantage for some gamers because it allows to see better the shapes in this type of dark rooms Another very perceptible difference is that the colors look more intense on the NANO80 at the right. But I think that the NANO79 does a very decent job

In terms of gaming technologies, neither of these TVs support VRR (Freesync nor G-Sync) They don´t support HDMI 2.1 ports, hence their maximum refresh rate in 4K is up to 60Hz They only support ALLM which will automatically enable their Game Modes when the TVs detect a console compatible with this technology This is the design of their Magic Remotes The one of the NANO80 at the right I think is slightly slimmer, it has more hotkeys The wheel in the center is smaller. I think is better and slightly more ergonomic Both Magic Remotes use disposable batteries This is the Main Menu of both TVs. This is very subjective, some may like most the old design, and some prefer the newer design of the NANO80 at the right The smoothness of the OS on both TVs is average. Is Not super fast and usually takes a few seconds to open the Apps Both TVs support the same Apps which may vary depending on every country and region (Disney+, Apple TV, HBO Max, Netflix, among others) The Storage is 2084 MB for the NANO79 and 2092 MB for the NANO80. In both cases the storage is more than enough for almost every user The Screen Mirroring functionality is possible on both TVs by using Android and also Apple devices (you need to use Airplay which is available on both TVs) Talking about their Web browsers, both have these kind of PIP and it might be useful if you for example want to read some tutorial while you playing by using your console Both TVs support the searching by voice commands which is very accurate most of the time And both of course allow to play content from different websites (anime, adult films, regular films, etc.)

Some websites will work and some others don't, in that case you will have to look for an alternative website At the end of this video you will be able to hear and watch the performance of the sound systems of both TVs which in terms of power both have 20W The NANO79 only supports Dolby Digital and ARC (Audio Return Channel), and the NANO80 supports eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital. They don´t support DTS If you ask me if is worth to pay the extra money for the NANO80.
