place so i'll show you practical and both will be combined after maybe second class or some second class also okay so that's two and again um there is no specific lab for this training because this is all cloud-based and you will be uh accessing your your uh your uh in tune console or intune portal from your website as in as in google chrome or a portal called endpoint uh manage.com so so it's a microsoft portal so you can access it from your browser which is with your account and things and also all the testing you have been doing uh will be done on your mobile uh it could be i buy uh any mobile android ios mac or you want to test it on windows 10 computer let's say you have you have you have a laptop and you you install some other some virtual machines in there and you want to manage within jordan now see how you can how it can behave and all those things so it's all on your side i can help you to set up the lab lab but as in your laptop configuration mobile configuration even deploying an application to your your personal device are we don't have a computer device basically or maybe we can configure in such a way that so everything now i just uh in other terms everything will be testing on your what devices what what is available with you okay you don't need to worry about it when i say like okay he's saying everything's in myself because we don't spoil anything we'll make sure we'll have yeah we have a proper testing uh stuff you don't need to worry about it like what happens to my device if i test something we are not we're not testing something it's not proved uh we are testing i have done it multiple times so we don't need to worry about it that's what i'm going to say so these are the points which i want to uh tell you before we start and i have few questions actually to ask you let me know if that is fine yeah okay fine okay so what is uh i didn't get a chance to talk to you about what is your previous experience what is what you do in as of as of today to to let's say you are an id guy non-iit guy what exactly you do what is your previous experience let's say your video id what is how many years of experience just to understand now how to do to start how much training should be that's the only reason nothing else so actually i'm working in it field only two years or not almost two years actually one year six seven months and i have some knowledge in office 365 and also i have some knowledge about sccm okay so sccm like maybe i can deploy application also menisc i can manage the device using management device conference uh check and also uh create some application so far actually i know that's it my so you you started your career with the ccm and o365 a bit of it is it no actually i am an i.t support guy i was in it support right now i am a managing system actually like i'm working for a many service provider so i'm just managing some computer company it environment like maybe um you can say and so far you said if you said about device management so because this is device management definitely you are asking so device management uh so far i can i manage you know the match 360 is ibm software i mean i have yeah i have some knowledge about that actually just only i cannot condition right it's not it's not live now and the support is stopped from 360 m360 from ibm i think they're going to decommission it i'm not sure i usually 2013 and 14 not now not from after that no i i worked last month but i don't know how it is work last month that's what that's fine so basically you're also knows a bit of mobile device man also that's good i have some knowledge actually yeah oh okay yeah okay nice so it's good to have it because you can use any technology if you're if you're in a support role right you can we can learn power cell that will be added advantage that's it it's not mandatory but you can do some some things easily if you know ourselves but that could be anything it could be anything like uh intune or 365 normal uh windows administration sscm whatever you take it that is a powershell involved nowadays right okay the second question what i have is why intune um actually i want to right now i just uh observed everything uh in sccm actually we are as per my knowledge actually i don't know it is right or not but i am sharing my knowledge so um autopilot uh actually this is a very good feature uh for future and i autofilot and a mobile device management i this is actually if you integrated as for example um if i manage a device in our environment we have to pay extra only device measure on mobile device management and also if i manage a computer like maybe by a ccm or maybe maybe office tcp environment so if you integrate it the cost will be 43 almost but if we may manage by intune and we will we will take e5 license if the cost will be reduced so definitely one company who want to manage their both device like mobile device also system device integratedly by e5 there will be cost reduce and then they're definitely going the company will be go this way so i am ready for i want to ready myself for the intune and uh for next job understand yeah the pretty much reasonable choice actually would say because you're working o365 you're working uh hscm so basically these are the you know other sides of our other two things to have uh apart from intune that's good okay so last question okay don't worry about like i'm asking no so what is expectation of this quotes like where do you want i want l one l two l three i know uh so i know what can be achieved from this but what is your expectation from this uh my acceptation is after this course i want to go market for a job and i want an athlete level two job level two level two level two okay okay okay that's it that's cloud service that focus on mobile device management and mobile application management so is it only for mobile yeah this is my first question okay the tool the microsoft called it as so it's a mobile device management so they didn't rename it okay so now they're calling it as endpoint manager but they didn't rename actually so basically i'll i'll tell you an example from sccm okay so when sccm was there so sscm from 2000 [Music] uh 18 or so not 18 sorry 2015 so what it was accm then they renamed it us current branch first actually oh yeah okay so cb and then the year and month of the real estate post that after that like 2018 they they started calling it as mcm microsoft endpoint configuration manager so basically it's still assist everybody identified nobody calls if you take any sdm administrator nobody called as a mesia they'll call it as sm only so because at that the period it was used is too much uh the length was uh you know like 10 plus years we used accm as a name 2007 to 2015 almost i think uh we used hccm as a name so that's the reason everybody knows it as a ccm only so this is also when microsoft started it is called as it is actually not microsoft engineer it was windows intune when microsoft introduced long back 2009 i think uh so i have done the first poc for microsoft i was working for microsoft at that time when they introduced uh windows and this this was completely introduced for windows no you know the nokia phone would have windows yeah yes yeah i understand yeah eight and eight point one version of uh no operating system right so that is to manage those devices and ccm doesn't have a capability at the time around 2008 or 2009 the 9 to 10 let's say 2009 to 2010 that era accm have a complicated process to manage mobile devices the complicated process is https enablement and certification import and export certification is is one of a kind risk at that time like troubleshooting an internet you know how the internet speed during those days so this is completely mobile device management completely on the internet now it is everybody every part of a world using internet so it was not that widely available during that time so that is the reason they called it like windows into and they want to manage only windows mobiles and when they introduced the windows 8 and it was 8.1 operating system so and with the mobile version also that was microsoft uh and then that was windows intune last 2020 or till 20 it was windows in general it was not microsoft india so when microsoft it's a big marketing strategy actually so now the microsoft when you say microsoft intune uh now officially its name is actually microsoft engine but the thing which you thinks which you do with microsoft intune is and not only mob device management are only mobile device management you do you you can manage enterprise applications as an o365 all the applications of office you can manage normal application deployment you can manage all the devices which includes oh android apple mac uh microsoft windows this is a major major for uh operating systems uh again what availability present tablet ipad iphone phone windows device surface whatever you you name it but wherever this operating system present we can manage it that's how microsoft brought it brought the business back and you know mike so before there are there are actual mobile device management tools or mobile application management tools if you take uh vmware that vmware have their own uh mobile device management tool which called as a watch and as you just mentioned about ibm product m360 so this these are also actual mobile device managements but in in with microsoft industry this is not limited to my mdmrm you can use this two functionalities within but microsoft engineer the the picture of microsoft engine is very huge it's not limited so with intune you can do you can do security you can do uh compliance you can do deployment you can do patching you can do operating system deployment you can do a lot of things right yeah but the name still maybe i don't know whether microsoft going to change are not going to change i'm not sure about it but that's how it is so my another question is um so we have a ccm so you said he said before actually uh before it was actually for windows phone microsoft intro so right now microsoft had sccn why why they launched uh same like microsoft intune so they will obsolete the ccm very soon or not it's not going to at least not for the not for not for if if it industry go goes fast not for 10 years if it grows in the same place what we are seeing it right now not for 20 years i'll tell you why i'll tell you very simple example so how how you know where when sccm was introduced into market yes it is maybe two thousand three three yeah yeah 2003 to production but long bank 2000 2001 that they've been doing testing and everything they will be doing it 2003 if you take 2023 so that will be 30 20 years right so the sscm is a 20 years old tool which developed on experience feedbacks and the betterment of the id industry correct right so so how are so if you if you ask me just microsoft it is introduced in 2010 i'll agree like my windows in june but that's not the developer that's not where it started the development when azure coming to picture so microsoft in june of pick the pace picked up a patient while they were just when the world start using internet as as cheap and you know best way of internet usage is available for across the world so then this came into like okay you can develop this tool and this you can they get their sense of future in it that's let's say 2 000 maybe can we just say like 2015-16 area they started developing these two so how let's say this is a six years old or seven years old in industry right but that's and that is the one reason and the second reason i'll tell you some i'll ask you a simple question let's say if you if you want to deploy as you said like you were working on microsoft ssc i'm right so you want to deploy let's say an application which which is a size of 10 gb i'll tell you visual studio sav application microsoft office application how do you deploy within tune yeah it's a bit different 10 gb for one machine over internet is done here your building is gone right now if you deploy it for 100 devices that's it 100 into 10 000 gb of data that's impossible to manage and so whatever the autopilot we have right example yeah when everybody says it's a oh i'm also agreeing with everybody like it's a very very very good advantage for every it company to have autopilot enabled and then the process it simplifies and everything but if you take a security into your consideration autopilot is i would say as on date it's not there i'll tell you why so you're you're capturing the machine or you're using an existing os whatever your vendor gives you not a pilot but whereas in ssc of actual operating system deployment you customize each application into it each windows bits of it so you you customize how your logo should be how your branding should be and how you test if every the windows image frequently for different different of applications let's say your company used 20 applications and you use that image and test it for 20 applications whether it's compatible or not do you have a same flexibility for autopilot no no we have a same flexible you have a same testing available for autopilot no so that is that is a different like it's having i would say simple sscm is not going anywhere it is having its own market and demands and and it's fulfilling fulfilling the requirements of the uh and end users or customers but in tune also there but until intune will grow or take time it takes its own time it's not one day or one year or things to replace yes right you are yes i clear okay that is the reason so okay coming back so we'll start yeah sure thank you no problem oh you can call me ram no sir okay so coming to microsoft intune i think i already told like almost in our question and answer like why then what is intune so in tune is a microsoft developed platform of cloud version to manage i would not say mobile devices to manage device management devices which are having this specific operating system i can't say like linux i can't say unix i can't say other third-party developer operating systems but only windows android ios mac os uh okay yeah only this particular four operating systems can be managed so wherever it presents it presents in a mobile is present in a surface it present in a a big tv it present in a atm machine it presents in a abnormal laptop presentation desktop wherever you have you can manage it all you need is internet so there are ways to manage it different different ways to manage it how you manage how you uh onboard devices into in tune and how you manage it there are different ways we'll get there once we start it okay yeah okay that's good uh so basically designed for mobile device management okay so you can so again there was no such tool available in house in microsoft to manage mobile devices specifically so that is the reason they're still going with so there are two parts of it if you take only intune mobile device management which is for only device management so what you do with the device management so if you take basically why do why do we need to manage devices so actually uh to control my application uh on security a device security yes one reason okay application and device security no i'm just talking about only device not application okay okay device security okay actually the data loss prevention security data provision both the same so device management what is device management basically so basically when you say device management device management is to allow a proper secured rr a well maintained computer our device into your infrastructure you can give me a second actually someone is calling man uh i'm sorry okay so uh i just need to need five minutes somebody's coming actually once they'll come i'll dig five minutes sorry there was my problem take your time that's fine so we'll finish this and then we'll go okay so microsoft in tune uh where was that device management that's where i was so device management so basically to allow a proper secure are all policies configured so what so why do you need to manage device example i'll tell you oh so why you need to manage devices what happens if you don't manage devices let's say uh you have a device it's a mobile device example you have your phone so if you're just connecting your phone to your company network let's you encourage your and your phone having some [Music] not used or not useful or some harmful things in your mobile and which is you can't do company network it can impact one reason and as a company company should have a standard standards as in uh let's say if a device has to be managed has to enter into my corporate network it should follow some rules and regulations right so the rules will be we call it as compliance and technical so compliance as in should have a password should have a latest antivirus you have a latest operating system so these things should follow in so to manage this i'm sorry man yes no problem take care come back here from here i'm working that's the reason okay and no should check uh pass some settings or pop should should overcome or should fulfill the some requirement so in the same way same for applications also application you can't just download any application and install in your mobile right so you have to be let's say if it is apple you go to apple store properly and you know install it just because of your security and you know for for the application which is which should be you know pro when when they approve when you go to apple store if you go to google play store so there are only approved means there they already pass some settings security settings are compatibility settings all those things so in same way application management also in the same way like it has to pass so this is what the third point is you can also configure specific policies to control applications whereas in a policies will be at a number of policies in intune at least you'll be having hundreds of policies again what you require you configure it so configuring as in i'll tell you example let's say you have an application let's say you have your personal device and you have your company email configured in your in your mobile personal mobile so when you open your personal open your company email in your personal mobile device so let's say there is an attachment you want to download that but company data should downloading into personal device it's a company violation when company data is going somewhere else which not supposed to so you can control that you can also control as in let's say you you you have a somebody shared a temporary password to your email and you copy that email uh that password to your your local mobile notepad so you can restrict the copy of a copy of that also those kind of you know security controls you can you can write policies so just example they have lot more when we are doing practical we can discuss okay okay so again so if you see the example also you can prevent email sending from outside of your organization let's say you have you will restrict any user saying like he can't send an email to his gmail he can only share say an email internal that's that that's the level of control we can do it for applications and also devices so these devices could be your personal device or it could be a company-owned device so you may you may get a doubt like okay if i have uh if i have my personal mobile managed my company what if company steals my information or what if company uh or let's say company have whatever i'm tracking what i'm doing or what i'm using it and it basically it doesn't affect so basically your mobile personal mobile let's say company applied to two applications to your personal device company will have control on only those two applications not the rest of applications which are in your personal device oh okay yeah so that that so that that's how it designed so that is the reason these particular uh you know mobile device mobile device tools are successful uh for the vivo video bring your own device other personal devices got it yeah so as i said uh so you you asked this question why mdm and only mba but actually in tune is part of this particular licensing model enterprise mobility plus security emi suit so which have uh which however this ems should have different different license licensing model like mobile security e1 e3 e5 license so even stands for even is having lesser privileges when lesser futures to use it e5 is having a highest number of futures which you can avoid so which covers security security will be completely managed by defender microsoft different defender [Music] okay excuse me a second okay okay okay so as i said e1 e3 e5 licenses there are also there are also different licensing terms but whereas in intune this is this is the licensing model but if you take uh o365 licensing it's completely different okay they they are they they don't have uh their you can't call e1 e to e3 i mean that's not fall under intune that's fall of that falls under into e1 a2 e3 e3 if i sorry so and there is having let's say a pro professional and enterprise license kind of that okay so i mean i'm confused here so you said for intune so i have to take enterprise mobility and security license right this is different right if you want to manage only in tune yes so i'll tell you this is again a great idea by microsoft i'll tell you so if you buy o365 enterprise license you can use active directory you can use in tune you can use defender and also o365 if i buy a enterprise e5 actually right 365 enterprise edition yes yes so you can use everything there under that okay but only engine you wanted you go with enterprise microsoft enterprise mobility and security ems e183 you fine see oh it's it's like you can buy this also so it's just a complete business strategy okay so they want to sell microsoft office also so the better way is you need in tune and office also you can buy a microsoft license instead of intune license where you can manage with microsoft license you can manage i mean obviously stiff license you can manage intune also right okay so you'll buy only one license okay so what are actually right now people enterprise are using uh as for example your enterprise so they're using e1 we have something for we have supplied for mobile devices we have e5 is different actually so it's microsoft office uh enterprise license our standard license microsoft office standard license standard enterprise and commercial and it's only support only if you take the microsoft uh sorry enterprise e5 only support it in tune otherwise no you didn't get me okay let me do this so let's say for in tune you have licenses called a one say e3 and an e5 which covers only in turn okay and for o365 you have commercial license you have standard license and you have enterprise so this license covers a lot of things yeah yeah i know that no 365 plus security security also plus intune and by default as your uh as your uh id also comes in yeah yeah so for this also as you ready comes in uh by default but again so this is so let's say you want in only you don't want anything only the mobile device device management you wanted you can go for intune let's say you want oh okay plus in tune plus everything you wanted you go for this okay so if uh how much the cost for the e2 e3 if i different between that defaults country to country uh uh for sure but i don't have in in in my mind like what exactly the cost is but i can give you a reference link where you can just go and you know see the cost and everything but again i said it deferred country to country okay okay country to country and location to locations if you're not wrong i mean let's say you are in the u.s fest and you and uh yes yes west having some price and u.s east is having some price much different but there's a difference okay okay [Music] so that's uh so by default as i said right you can you have uh an azure active directory comes in uh inbuilt when you when you take any of this license you know what what is active directory means right yeah i know i yeah so as your active directories of the cloud version of your active directory you can integrate down from exactly without your actual tree or if you have only devices which are only inclined cloud you can use actual active directory so we call this hybrid ad or azure ready high as you ready hybridity and transceiving three different areas so it remains to manage your devices which are non-cloud hybrid means to manage device high on-premises plus cloud means azure ready means to manage dedicated cloud missions yeah yeah yeah i know i don't set up yeah that's good so and by default this comes with our information production so azure information aip so no okay out of production by default and you don't need to buy this specific so yeah any questions as of now uh so far it's good actually and you're able to understand you're okay with the pace which you are going and you want to slow it down you want to make it no no it's good it's good because i have something idea about also infrastructure like microsoft infrastructure yes sir yes i understand sure so what we can do with in tune this this is what we are going to talk about now so as i said you can so there are different ways to manage devices and applications on in general from microsoft one is sscm and another one is intune device management tools these two are the tools so let's say you can completely manage your if you have on-premises devices you can completely manage your devices successfully with all the requirements with this issue no questions asked i mean it's success in the market it's been there for 20 years just we discussed just like we discussed and it's very good tool to have it also ah if we have only arm promises and if you have only cloud you have intune let's say you have some of this about that so that's where the co-management or co-manage co-managed infrastructure comes in you have you ever heard about what is co-management yeah actually i think um yeah like hybrid actually yes like hybrid you said the active directory so pass through the business just like that it's a hybrid uh the only difference is you will decide it was a power cut yeah what's the pocket right in india oh yeah it's india and it's raining like anything from last two days oh okay just want to come back so so co-management is uh managing a device from either either sscm or interior you can see all the devices in single console which is in microsoft so there is there's no in tune control there is no system console there is something else which is oh yeah so if if i actually though as for example we have a ccm setup so we want to my migrate in intune for cloud cloud yeah so we can you said we can uh co-management like some of device from a ccm some device for intern we can do it right okay that's the best way to do it those people are doing actually maybe this is very popular right now because uh yeah this is very this is very popular there's a lot lot of people using co-management and that gives you again a certified to manage your cloud-based entities and their on-premise uh devices also so just like we we have to integrate your own reps 82 your azure ready so just for the communication purpose and then the what is the security purposes and and everything to manage the device to sync in the number of users number of devices from android store 80 azure radio and azure related routers so that they can identify this machine is okay this particular device is our company devices so once you integrate that so there are options away as you as you can add connect and another other tools adf is to integrate your area once you've done that you can manage you can enable co-management from your ccm and you can do that again as i said you can't manage a single device with both ssdm and intune you can only do one you have to choose which one is which i mean let's say you have you have one device and you can only choose or you can you can only mark this device can be managed by a ccm are in tune only one okay but you can change it whenever you want it to it's not like it's permanent okay so that that is yeah so and you have completely standalone in tune there is no no mention of anything let's say you're a completely brand new company and you just came into market and you don't have any data centers and you just want to go with the cloud and you want to go with the microsoft cloud which is azure and you can directly install standard account configures uh and for your company standards and everything and manage your devices with standard in tune there is no need of a ccm and everything again it has its own limitations but you can do that that's called standalone in india you have standalone intune co-management hybrid i mean co-management hybrid are both are same okay yeah so you can you can set rules and configuration settings on your personal devices as well as your company owned devices to access any data or company network and everything you can have your own you have you can have your wi-fi wi-fi profiles like whom to connect your wife why wi-fi man what type of mobile devices are internet based devices concurrently your office network so how do you how do you want to restrict those things and you can you can excuse me you can configure those uh for your again personal devices as well as your company own device you can deploy authenticated apps okay you can deploy from your let's say you know you know what is packaging what packaging packaging yeah i have a idea um you can you can deploy that that's all i needed just to know that whether you know it or not so we we package actually we package in our application for the system then deploy yeah that's already so you when you when you have a packaging example they'll customize the the application whatever they want to deploy or you want to deploy their customers as per company requirements and and the installation silent installation background installation reboot processor press and everything the settings there is you can deploy those applications from intune you can deploy applications from internet okay or you can deploy applications from respective or let's say if it is apple device you could just directly definitely go to uh apple uh i don't know what that call actually so apple play store uh so you could directly apply uh go to apple play store and add that application to your intune and deploy to end users simple in the same way on-premises i'm sorry same with android devices no okay just you just go to uh audio you just go to a place in google play store and you just add application into private and you can also deploy an application which are microsoft uh store you know microsoft store right microsoft have their own store from where you can add google google sorry not google what i'm talking so we have microsoft outlook office word whatever if you wanted to apply single applications as in r if you wanted to play complete office 365 also you can do it as a single so you can deploy all these things so my question is uh as a intune administrator should i i have to package the i have to package the application also or this is not out of my job no you you don't need to package your applications most of the intune applications will be deployed as available uh uh in portals most of them so if we have let's say company customized application you need to have a package it's not you will package it as the intune administrator okay okay you should have a different package and uh so packaging is a different carrier with enjoy so you can have separate separate carrier with packaging you know technologies so as for example uh one as for example on google google chrome okay google chrome updated has updated uh sorry released their new version that's for example 16 16 point something so and uh how can i update it there are two options available one uh if you want to customize a customized installation you can you can give it to your packager and get the package get it done by get down the package and and deploy the second option the best option if you're deploying your team tune and if you trust google you have to trust google otherwise you can't deploy google chrome let's say you have security concerns you can't apply it so let's say if you ever trust google directly from internet or from play store or google store or google play store or from my apple play store just add application or just from internet also just app add application google chrome applications your insurance deployed okay okay all right yeah so that that's how you want and how your company prefers that that's more of depends okay yeah now just uh let me uh just uh let me know what the best techniques actually uh in interview the best practice is to directly integrate it from uh internet and deploy it best practice google standards you can doubt google standard it's an international company and which you you've been seeing google chrome for a while and so it depends definitely yeah yeah for example right now very popular is zoom actually so every user needs zoom yeah and uh team uh um team is actually their product don't worry about microsoft let's say no i don't care about anything i'll just download something from internet and i'm happy to that i i don't have any problem nobody asked it can deploy but when you say like hey my company is a very secure company mine is a bank example and i can't allow any any particular non-tested applications to deploy into my my company or my my company devices i can't do that so it's this is my policy and if you have a policy you can't deploy that's that's simple it is okay okay okay so the fourth point is like you you can protect your information uh i mean as in user access as in uh user interface and where to log in how many number of devices you can log in with your intune how many number of devices you can log into the intuitive device all this information you can control from youtube okay and you can also create your security policies like uh compliance policies as in as i just mentioned like yes your if you you're content to a company network it should have a proper strict proper pin enabled let's say the security pin doctor unlock pin should be enabled should have a latest version of antivirus double latest version of our certain version of operating system let's say if you take apple it's like you should be having about 10 versions if you take a android you should be having android latest version whatever let's say n minus two versions so you can write those those security requirements and then only if it passed this condition then only that that will be compliant the device called as we called as compliance you will talk about this technical term compliance compliance more in future so compliant is all the conditions past the device okay so we'll talk more about it so in future so so if a device is compliant then only it connects to your network and then only you can deploy or manage deploy applications or manage application manage the device from intune otherwise it stays as non-compliant but you can't they can't deploy anything to that mission uh compliance policies application securities and everything multiplied so we can uh keep it uh it's called quarantine non-compliant uh so as for example uh we have a policy as for example the android version has to be 100 15.5
