everyone to our etc product launch event it is bittersweet being here with you today in an empty theater on an empty stage even going back one year i couldn't have imagined the enormous impact the pandemic would have had on stages around the world and even more importantly the impact that it would have on our customers our colleagues our friends and our entire industry it has been a tough year fraught with anxiety and uncertainty and for so many of us our livelihood was uprooted in early 2020 with little to no end in sight the one thing we could depend on at etc was the passion of our employees industry workers and supporters and you our customers we knew that getting through this for each other is what would keep us going so many of you have taken advantage of our free online classes and webinars and it's been great to stay connected with you in the best way that we could over the past 12 months we knew that someday we'd be together again making art teaching art enhancing the stages and the visual environments around us and as we stand here today there's optimism that that time is within our sites so throughout this all etc has remained focused on a single mission to provide the best and the most innovative products and services and solutions to you our customers and i believe we've done that while you were brushing up on skills in classes webinars learning new things we haven't stopped innovating one thing the pandemic has taught us we can adopt technology quickly when we need to yes the world is constantly being pushed forward by advances in technology everything from automobiles computers cell phones and yes even entertainment lighting it wasn't that long ago that we were being pushed to find a replacement for incandescent lighting the world was going green and conserving energy lighting designers were fascinated with the color that they could get from leds even if sometimes it meant a sacrifice to the quality of light etc wasn't willing to jump on that bandwagon so quickly we were very passionate and concerned about the quality of light we knew that adding led to our product portfolio meant time and research because we always try to innervate to the highest standard possible and leds were no exception to that so we put together a dedicated research team and we got to work and over the past decade we have brought you fixture after fixture and technologies within our control systems that have improved the quality of light the quality of dimming the ease of color mixing and the overall performance of all the lighting that you use in your work our goal is to be our own disruptive technology we want to offer you a better solution the moment you realize you have a problem and that's exactly what we've been doing behind the scenes for years today our team is excited to show you two new fixtures that will do exactly that first we think it's time for the fresnel to make a dramatic return to the stage and we bring you an updated classic that captures the elegance simplicity and beautiful light of the original tungsten fresnels combined with etc technologies for greater brightness color control and efficiency today we bring you the desire for now [Music] [Music] fred foster original ceo and founder of etc was always focused on the quality of light when the fate of tungsten lighting came into question he was there to make sure the right conversations were happening conversations that are still happening with lighting designers today and conversations that are pushing us to create the best lighting products possible fred also recognized that lighting for the stage was one thing but lighting for the camera was a different beast entirely he wanted to take what etc knew about stage lighting and translate it to the set in studio that's a big reason why he pushed to create etc's advanced research group or arg as led technology barreled forward the limitations have changed but we were still asked to accept solutions that were to the eye electronic and digital nature thankfully at etc we have a very high good enough line and we refuse to give up just because something is difficult to do we continue to innovate and ask the hard questions in order to bring you something better ever changing technology means that there are a lot of impressive things that we can do with led lighting that we couldn't do with incandescent but everything comes with a trade-off and one of the biggest things that we had to give up with tungsten was the warmth that warmth comes from the long wavelength reds at the end of the visible spectrum research and development and arg work together to expand the usable color gamut they create and test led array options that give our industries the color they need in order to light their stages sets and talents more effectively they've since brought us the lustre x8 and the daylight hdr arrays we've seen the success of these arrays already in our studio line of fixtures with the phosphor panel and more recently with the phosphor for now here to tell you more about the work that arg has done and what this means for your stage is researcher evan nam the broad spectrum of incandescent sources renders objects and people and colors that are balanced rich and familiar designers recognize and value that people have an emotional response to tungsten sources and that those sources have a warmth that's difficult to describe and equally as difficult to replicate as we know you can't fake spectral content the photons are either there or they aren't for a long time light with longer wavelengths which is so abundant in tungsten and natural daylight has been missing from led fixtures our eyes don't register these far wavelengths so much in terms of brightness but they do register them for their crispness warmth and detail including the lime led was an important step towards creating a fuller spectrum and improving the quality of light including a deep red channel in our arrays puts back even more richness and quality into the light it is instantly recognizable on fabrics on scenery and on all skin tones deep red extends the reachable gamut for sure but it also adds flexibility in lighting designs for all color temperatures and for even the most saturated colors you light fabrics scenery and most importantly people you light things that have life this deep red brings a depth and quality back to your designs we can't wait to see what you as an industry will do with these new arrays there's no question about it quality of color is one of the big things we pride ourselves on at etc but there's much more to fixtures that make them useful within your workflow for example you need control that is simple and reliable sometimes running dmx cables to fixtures isn't a big deal but we've all had those times when it isn't easy or it would really slow down the load in or it's just impossible wireless dmx technology has been around for a couple of decades but it's gained a reputation for being complicated prone to interference expensive and simply not scalable but city theatrical's multiverse technology changes all of that we believe that multiverse is going to revolutionize control and will over time change your entire approach to lighting by allowing larger and larger wireless systems here to tell us more about multiverse is city theatrical president gary fales city theatrical envisions a future of wireless lighting control in which every lighting fixture contains a tiny inexpensive multiverse module leading to wireless control of systems containing hundreds of fixtures and multiple universes and making lighting control easier for everyone multiverse wireless dmx and rdm is the culmination of three years of research and development and utilizes innovative technology that for the first time allows large-scale multi-universe wireless lighting systems to be used effectively and reliably to do that our radio engineers invented a system that can send much more wireless data in fact as many as 10 universes from one transmitter while at the same time producing much less radio energy than any other wireless dmx system and we combined that with 10 other innovations to make wireless dmx and rdm more certain more secure and more effective these innovations include advanced forms of dmx and rdm optimized for wireless broadcast error correction and two different security measures to protect your system other brands of wireless dmx produce significant amounts of radio energy for even a single universe of data scaling them up by adding additional transmitters to create multiple universe broadcasts quickly overwhelms the spectrum and degrades wireless performance for all radio users on the production etc recognized the advantages of multiverse over other wireless dmx systems and has made a major commitment to it in a growing range of products giving lighting users great new options for using wireless data on their productions egc's set light app takes advantage of the multiverse technology allowing you to remotely configure and monitor your rig this works for any etc fixture with rdm whether it has multiverse built in like the phosphor and desire fresnel or fixtures connected via multiverse node receiver or show baby another technology we've built in these fixtures is nfc or near field communication the built-in nfc chip allows you to push and pull configurations using the setlite app on your mobile phone or tablet with just a tap this works even when the fixture isn't powered on so you can configure your fixture and have it ready to go the next time you turn it on set up multiple fixtures with addressing offset modes and more and then just tap tap tap down your line of fixtures set light expedites your day-to-day workflow functionality is fast simple and intuitive config while you rig or from a distance if you want to learn more about incorporating the setlite app into your workflow join us for the upcoming class the luster x8 array multiverse and nfc we've put all of these features into the desire for but there's more to a great fresnel than technology traditional fresnels are incandescent workhorse fixtures known for their smooth wash controllable beam and adjustable zoom capabilities with the onset of leds into the industry however fresnels became more about the technology and less about the beautiful quality of light the magic of the fresnel has felt lost we've approached this product differently modernizing the fresnel while maintaining the features and beam quality the designers and technicians have always loved about them you get the soft controllable beam you'd expect from a traditional fresnel paired with the power and beauty of the lustre x8 array we've also made efficacy improvements by combining the led array with newly designed optics to create a fixture that is up to 25 percent more efficient than traditional fresnels throughout its zoom range allowing you to get more of its impressive maximum output which is over 5400 lumens by the way regardless of where you are in flood spot or anywhere in between let's take a look at some of the other features that we think you'll love as you can see here the 13 to 55 degree zoom can be adjusted from either the front or the rear of the desired fresnel in order to be considered a good fresnel you have to be able to barn door well and this fixture does not disappoint just look at those clean yet soft beam edges don't forget about nfc and the included wireless multiverse technology gary was telling us about the lustre x8 color system will be a game changer for your stage bringing unprecedented brightness even in the most saturated colors the intuitive user interface brings all of these features and options to an easily accessible screen on the back of the fixture or from the set light app on your mobile device desire fordel promises to be a fixture that technicians will love for its ease of use and designers will love for its brightness and unrivaled quality of life the desire for nell is guaranteed to become a designer's favorite coming soon to a stage near you now go with me all the way back to 1992 etc introduced the source for ellipsoidal and it truly broke new ground in lighting better optics higher efficiency greater quality of light projection quality build quality it improved on every single item that designers were looking for at the time 20 years later in 2012 we introduced the source four led series one and we again broke new ground in color range quality of light two years later in 2014 came the source four led series 2. there we knew that we had made significant breakthroughs when lighting designer polly constable was quoted as saying now with series 2 i can imagine a world without tungsten yes the series 2 has become an iconic part of theaters around the world but today we have moved closer to that world without tungsten it's time that we introduced a light brighter more colorful and more brilliant than ever before a light you can truly place anywhere within your theater space meet the source 4 led series 3. over the last 45 years etc has been setting standards for this industry that are far from standard one of the first came in 1992 with the original source 4 fixture it features a tungsten halogen lamp which to this day still has high efficacy and great light output to date we've sold over 3.5 million etc
source 4 fixtures and it has helped our name become synonymous with stage lighting well now it's time for the next generation combining all of the technologies we've shown you today we've created a professional grade fixture made for the industry that has made us the source 4 led series 3. series 3 features a beam that is up to 40 percent brighter than series 2. it can cut through the darkest auditorium opera house or studio from the farthest throw it has the brightest whites and the most saturated colors let's take a deeper look at the two arrays available for source 4 led series 3 and what they mean to you luster x8 is a full color mix for an industry that truly appreciates the depth of color needed to render costumes scenery and most importantly skin tones to their full potential this array includes a patent-pending mix of green lime blue indigo cyan amber red and deep red leds this deep red is the secret ingredient that helps you create the subtle colors at the far edge of the visual spectrum in ways you've been missing now you might be thinking what's the big deal about adding one more led i promise we did not add an eighth color just because it's one more led we added it because of how much better it truly makes the light just look at the nuances it brings to skin tones and fabrics there is a richness and a depth that wasn't there before what was red now looks orange while deep red leds have been around for years it's always been a question of brightness or color quality with source for led series 3 you get both you get a fixture that outputs a surprising number of lumens while still maintaining the nuanced color control you need to enhance each scene of each act on any stage but lighting a stage is not only about color it's also about quality white light designers know that the best white light is made of the richest colors and that's what the daylight hdr mix brings to your stage daylight hdr is a tunable white light array that includes the same deep red and adds in red mint blue indigo and cyan two arrays with quality light output at the brightest levels maximum color mixing technology to bring out the truest colors of whatever you are lighting as you've heard these fixtures have a huge advantage because of their color mixing capabilities but you want your fixtures to be bright too this is why we've created a new line of lens tubes to take full advantage of these innovative light engines when used with series 3 the new xdlt lens tubes give you the ultimate in brightness with color correction and sharp projection optics the lens tubes you've been using with your source 4 and source 4 led fixtures are still great and they will work with your new series 3 fixtures but with the new body style and extensive color technology that has gone into source 4 led series 3 we knew it was time to upgrade the lens systems as well we've decreased light leakage with xdlt so you get the ultimate in brightness where it counts out the front of the fixture when you add xdlt to series 3 with luster x8 array you get an impressive 10 000 lumens and with the daylight hdr array you get a shocking 13 000 lumens of light there's more light and crisp clear image projection look no color fringing if you have an expansive auditorium to traverse xdlt has one more huge advantage get the brightest most focused light when used from the farthest distance so whether you're hanging your fixtures overhead in the box boom or from the farthest catwalk xdlt takes impressively bright fixtures and makes them even brighter a light engine and optical system with high clarity and brightness designed especially for the longest throws source 4 led series 3 was built for the professional theater or wherever you need the highest quality of light combining source 4 led with the multiverse wireless technology that we've heard so much about means you can control these fixtures from anywhere in your space without having to run excessive cabling configure them from your mobile device using nfc or use the intuitive user interface with color changing encoders and backlit screen with its impressive output up to 40 brighter than series 2 series 3 will thrive anywhere in your theater especially at the farthest distances and its luster x8 color system brings the highest quality of light depth and richness to your stage we don't think it will take much to convince you that the source 4 led is once again setting the standard in theatrical lighting that is unmatched in order to better show you these fixtures up close and personal we spent some time in 2020 building a series of great demo spaces at our offices around the world you can sign up on our website for a one-on-one virtual demo at a time that fits your schedule one of our
