of technology banner bearers and finally i also want to recognize all of our faculty in attendance without whose guidance and teaching excellence our graduates would not be sitting here today ready to receive their degrees thank you all of you for joining us today students today you are graduating from a very special university a university that you have transformed during your stay here a university that is tier one a university is a member of the nation's highest honor society phi beta kappa a university where students not just win but sweep national competitions a university that is a powerhouse but most important a university that is your home your alma mater your pride and your bragging right congratulations we applaud you and we share in your joy and happiness today appointed by the governor of texas and confirmed by the texas senate the members of the university of houston system board of regents serve six-year terms with our student regions serving a one-year term they all work together to provide vision and direction for the four universities in the university of houston system including the university of houston today we are pleased to welcome the honorable jack moore thank you thank you dean love that accent reminds me of south texas somewhere but good afternoon college of technology and graduates faculty and staff friends family relatives neighbors i'm vice chairman of the board of regents jack moore and it's my honor to bring you greetings on behalf of the entire uh systems board of regents and regent delgado to congratulate you on this very very special day the countless hours late night study sessions seemingless endless assignments have finally paid off today you become a college graduate give yourself a round of applause and while we celebrate your accomplishments let us not forget the faculty the staff the family and friends who helped get you along the way so be sure and thank them for their support as well thank you family thank you friends graduates this is a day that you will never forget it's been many years since i received my degree from the university of houston but i can tell you it's a day i still very much remember there's nothing like walking across this stage and see the vision you've long dreamed of becoming a reality i can also tell you that that my degree has served me very well and i know yours will also take you to even greater greater heights i've been fortunate to have a rewarding and successful career and it all started with my college education right here at the university of houston although the business world has changed dramatically over the years those core principles that i learned in my college courses have been applicable throughout the various stages of my professional life and along with the hard work have been keys to my success and i'm very confident that you will find the same value in your degree and i know that you will apply it what you have learned here with the strong work ethic you'll be leaders in your field the knowledge you've gained here at the university of houston has prepared you for the rigors of the professional world whether it equipped you to tackle corporate america to think creatively to launch your own business or to be of service to others this will serve you extremely well in the future from computer engineering human resource development supply chain logistics to cyber security biotechnology and digital media whatever path you may take the university houston degree that you received here today will ready for you for the difficult ways to obtain a degree there are most definitely easier ways to a degree and yet you persevered when seeing many others go partying in the evenings while you had to work very late to work on an assignment for a deadline but it was worth it now your degree from this college is something that will enable you to bring increased prosperity and quality of life to the world everything that we see and touch is because of what we do in the college of technology be it information technology engineering technology construction supply chain retail or human resources everything i hope you're proud of what you are now graduating from the college of technology to the parents and families of these graduating students they really have worked hard and the investment of your time support and money was very much worth it in recognizing recognition of this i now ask our graduating students to stand applaud and recognize those friends and families that are with you today [Applause] thank you
