Apple Watch Series 10: One Month Later - Is It Worth It?

Show Video

it's been nearly a month since I got the Apple Watch series 10 and I've worn it day and night I've slept tracked with it I've even taken it on a trip we're going to be talking about is it worth it is it worth buying the series 10 the first thing we're going to talk about is that screen size so now we have a 42 mm and a 46 mm and apple states that this is the largest screen they've done which doesn't make sense it kind of confused us all in the beginning because this is a 46 mm where the ultra is a 49 mm but if you look at the tech specs these displays the actual display size is actually wider than the ultra it's not as tall as the ultra but we're talking like 20 like super little bit I mean on both cases like it's just barely a little bit shorter barely a little bit wider uh there's not that big of a difference between it and the ultra display and it's just pretty crazy that they can fit it in such a small device compared to the Apple watch Ultra is the screen size worth the upgrade well in most cases I would say no for most people because screen size is something you get used to pretty quickly like I'm already used to it it doesn't really affect me at all like you know it just looks the same we don't really get any new watch faces that are only for the screen size I was really hoping that we' get some of the Apple watch Ultra faces but we're not getting those I don't see apple ever giving us those at first I thought there was really a chance but then the more I thought about it is yes the 46 is basically the same size as the alra screens but the 42 mm not and I don't see apple given a watch face to the 46 mm and not the 42 so we're not going to see those watch faces and that's been my biggest struggle with coming over from the ultra is trying to find a watch face that works well for me because the modular Ultra face is hands down the best face that Apple has ever made for an Apple Watch so the one I've kind of landed on is the one that I used before I went to the ultas and it's the infograph watch face so it has plenty of complications you get like eight complications maybe even nine kind ofish and it just works really well it gives you all that data in one spot kind of like that modular Ultra gave us so so far I'm really liking it you know I do go back and forth between watch faces I am using some of the new watch faces sadly like I'm not thrilled with the new watch faces that we got this year now don't get me wrong they're really nice that flux one I really really love the new photos face is pretty nice as well and I love the secondhand thing but that still as of right now I just installed beta 5 of 11.1 and we still don't get a secondhand on any of the old watch faces so so far that is only there for the flux watch face and the reflections watch face now there is an activity watch face that we do have it which really doesn't make any sense it's one of the only digital ones that has a secondhand on there to begin with so but that one is there and you can get the update but all the other watch faces that we have with the moving hands it's it's moving secondhand it just goes away on the always on display which is just I'm like come on Apple you can do better than this please give us that that that's just it's not that much so hopefully we get this in the very near future but as of right now we still don't have it with the latest beta that was released so I don't know it may be something we have to wait till 11.2 before we get now something I'm kind of like shocked by is just how much I've enjoyed the double tap feature now I tried this with the series 9 before I switched back to the ultra 1 and I have some videos on how you can even enable stuff like this you can actually enable the double tap feature on Old devices doesn't work as well but you can do other things to make it even better in my opinion but I have really enjoyed this double tap feature more than I thought I would especially if you're using a watch face that doesn't offer you a lot of complications it's really nice just to double tap your finger and just go through all those little widgets that you have you can set them up to be your like secondary complications and I've been using this a lot to go through when I use that flux watch face it works really well um it's also great for answering calls and responding and dismissing notifications all that kind of stuff as well it's just kind of nice to use it for those I wish the workouts app was a little bit better I was able to enable it to actually like show my rings during a workout or go back to actual workout stats that was nice but I would still personally rather have a pause unpause feature with that double tap rather than just showing my rings now the mic and the speakers sound amazing I'll be honest the audio playback is something that I've not even really used like it's just one of those features that I could really care less about because like how often are you going to be listening to music or a podcast or what whatever from your watch speaker it's just not something that you would really do or at least not something I would really do if you're somebody that really loves that feature and you or you really want that feature and you have a use case leave a comment down below cuz I'd honestly love to hear what's your use case for it because me personally I mean I also do have home pods throughout the house so I don't need a way to listen to stuff and if I'm listening to any kind of music or audio and I want to listen to it from my devices I pretty much always put my airpods in so in my cases it's not really that useful um but let's go ahead I will demo it for you in case you haven't seen it yet so if I go in I'm going to use the overcast app so I can use a podcast I don't have to worry about like copyright and all that kind of stuff so right here I have my most recents which are stored directly on the watch and then if I go ahead and scroll down just a little little bit to one right here that's already downloaded and and I've been at it now for two and years and like even based on the stuff I learned today I know it's real fast right now let me slow them down I'm not good I'm not good yet I mean I'm good at what I do as a business I'm good at that I'm not good at YouTube yet I'm not good at social media yet but I'm going to keep doing it and I promise you in 10 years you're gonna see what good looks like because I'm not just so yeah so it works really well this speaker loud it sounds good the quality is pretty good it's not like listening to music good but it's decent and you know I I do like it but it's just not one of those features that I ever have a reason to use now taking phone calls and all that stuff that I do like I will if my hands are full I don't want to pull out my phone I'm at home I'm going to take a phone call on the watch and I've done that for years and that works really well and honestly it's just gotten better with the better mic and everything but overall this is just not something I'm going to listen to music or do anything like that that that new feature that allows that just isn't a reason in my case to upgrade maybe you're one of those people like I said leave a comment down below if you are that this feature alone makes it worth upgrading but for me that's not a real reason to upgrade now as I mentioned earlier I did take this on a trip with us and it was amazing like it worked really really really well uh I haven't like I said I haven't used my ultra I gave it to my son he's been using it ever since I got this so I haven't even put the ultra on since I got the series 10 I've used it every single day and I've loved it we went to Disney we went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party it was amazing it was a lot of fun and I used the watch like as we were going through Disney Springs we were there during one of the Hurricanes the Helen hurricane and I kept constantly checking my watch checking the weather and all that kind of stuff on that day making sure you know we didn't get stuck in any crazy storms while we were having fun and going around and then of course when I go to Disney I love the Apple watch because you don't have to wear a magic van if you know anything about Disney usually you can put your tickets on a magic van so you just kind of scan in well you can actually do it from the watch Disney added that option a few years ago I think now it will work on even the older watches but it's just awesome to be able to hold your watch up to the little stand and just scan in that way and then I also used it throughout the day to scan for pictures and all that kind of stuff as well and it just worked so well the battery life was not an issue at all and I've honestly that's the other thing I've not had an issue with the battery life with this and I know coming from the ultra if you're somebody that has an ultra right now you're probably used to mult multiple day battery life you're not going to get that out of this your probably Max would be 36 hours maybe like you can probably get that but overall you're not going to get like that 3 4 days whatever some people have ridiculous battery life with their Ultras you're not going to see that with the series 10 it just it's not thick enough for that kind of thing but saying all that I've also never had the battery get below 40% on the series 10 over this last month that I've had it because it's just so easy and so fast to charge it so what my schedule looks like right now is I'll go throughout the day usually when I go to bed it's usually around 50 to 60% I'll pop it on the charger charge it up to at least 80 sometimes 90 95 somewhere around there and then I'll take it off go to sleep sleep track with it and with this new fast charging with the new way that they put that coil in there it charges quick also compared to the ultra if you didn't know smaller batteries means faster charging already so if you don't have to charge up as large of a battery it's going to charge faster so in most cases I only put it on the charger for probably about 20 minutes and that is all it takes and then it's pretty much fully charged so what I do is I'll sleep with it and then I'll wake up in the morning I'll go for my walk usually I take two walks in the morning one with our dog and one without because she just drives me nuts so the second one is just more of a relaxing walk and then once I'm done with that as I get ready for the day I will actually just put it back on the charger and by the time I'm like actually ready you know it takes a little while to get this hair done not really but you know within 10 20 minutes or so I'll take it back off and it'll be at least at 80% and that will get me through the rest of the day until I charge it at night when it hits around 50 to 40% overall battery life is not an issue for me now I understand some of you it could be but for me that is not a reason not to upgrade so if you already have the ultra and you're really wanting to go to the series 10 and you think you can do okay with charging the watch at least once a day you will be perfectly fine now if you don't if you don't think you know you want to go multiple days without charging the ultra is for you you probably shouldn't upgrade but I will say coming from the Ultra to the series 10 has felt like a bigger upgrade than going from like my series 7 to the first Ultra because like just the thinness I honestly love the feeling of this watch the thinness of this watch now obviously if you already have a series watch the thinness is probably not going to be something that you fully notice but if you're coming from an ultra this is going to be a major upgrade in my opinion to the ultra just because of the thinness of the watch it just feels so good on your wrist it's also very smooth like I play basketball with my sons and with the ultra anytime they rub up against it and you know all the stuff with playing basketball like I've scratched them multiple times with the Apple watch Ultra so this one is very much welcome for basketball games with my son as well because it just makes it way easier less injuries also happen one more thing before I go fully into is it worth it for you uh I did want to say you know overall scratches have been amazing so this new titanium this is the titanium model if you didn't know this is the this the silver titanium I can't remember exactly what they call it but it's not the darker one it's the lightest one that's not gold so there it's hard to tell from the pictures but that's what this one is and it looks great the scratches have been very minimal if any like I feel like at one point I thought I had some micro scratches on it but as I'm looking right now there's not really much I'll try to get some close-up shots of the watch as well just so you can kind of see how it looks and tell for yourself if you think it's scratched up now the stainless steel model would scratch up for me like crazy like I had to polish that thing all the time so coming from one of those stainless steel models it's kind of really nice that it goes over so well and it's much stronger than the stainless steel now I'm not really sure like what like if this is like just pure titanium if it doesn't have any kind of coating on it or anything like that I know the bands have a PVD coating because these bands are not titanium they are stainless steel that have been coated to match the um series 10 titanium watches so there's a lot going on there with those and just the confusion with those as well so keep that in mind so far I've been liking the melanes loop it you know I have the link band ordered it actually comes this week so if you're not already subscribed hit that subscribe button because I'm going to be posting a video on that and how it looks on this Apple watch as well so overall the durability of the watch I think makes it worth the upgrade because it has been more durable than what I've seen with the stainless steel in the past so it's been very nice now obviously it also depends on which watch you get so if you're getting aluminum and you have an aluminum or a stainless steel watch you know it might not be worth that upgrade for you but if you're going from a stainless steel to a titanium you know the bands don't match as perfectly if you have one of those bands that have the stainless steel lugs but if you don't it's perfectly fine one of the things I wanted to talk about is if you're in the US there is a big hindrance on upgrading so if you have a you know series 9 or even the ultra 2 that still has the blood oxygen sensor on there the series 10 in the US does not have it and it's you know it's a big let down it's still that you know it could come back it may never come back I don't know what's going to happen with this lawsuit that's going on right now with apple and mosimo we don't really hear much about it right now now so far the ban is still just the the International Trade Commission baned so it's not like this world wide band they're not going to be removing it from any of your old watches even in software updates if that ever happens I will post a video on that be sure it will be a full video just on that but as of right now they're not removing it from any of the old watches but if you are somebody that relies heavily on that and you are in the US you will not get it with the series 10 so in that case it's probably not worth that upgrade for you you'll probably want to stay for me personally I actually have a smart ring that does it for me so that alone has really helped me I've really enjoyed it it's been you know that gives me that blood oxygen sensor not that I look at it that much I don't have an issue with that kind of stuff and I'm not climbing or flying or whatever else that those people that really need it use I don't have any kind of condition that I need to monitor so but I do have it on the ring so not having on the watch hasn't been that big of a downgrade for me because I already have it now I still want it back because I think it's awesome and I love that feature but as of right now it is gone the app is still there so apple is really planning on bringing this back like they're fighting to make sure they can bring it back so I expect it to come back one way or another whether Apple has to pay mosimo or they win the lawsuit and they just get it back they'll be able to probably enable it with some kind of software update and we'll be good to go now there is one thing that this watch has that could be the game changer for you and that is the sleep apnea detection so we haven't heard too much about it because it's still kind of new like I've been in the betas and it was released with beta 4 which was just a week ago at this point so I've only had the feature for one week and so far I've not gotten any kind of notification that it's detected anything like I said with my smart ring it actually detects slea apnea too I've done some tests with it so far I am good I don't really have it so I am happy that personally right now I don't have to worry about it but I'm still like that is big feature for Apple this year and if you're somebody that is worried about sleep apnea and you want to be tested you know obviously you could go to a medical professional and get tested that way but if you don't want to do that and you want to get the watch then in that case I think it's worth it it's a really great feature and I'm glad they added it to the Apple watch I can't wait to see and hear more stories about how it's helping out people and doing all that stuff so now let's go to just like the actual details now if you have a series watch if you're looking at like a Series 6 or Series 7 and you're like maybe it's time to upgrade maybe I shouldn't just yet if you have a Series 6 I would say the 10 is definitely the way to go and a lot of times in the past I've always recommended getting like the older watches so because you can save money like the series 8 series 9 like those were so close that I would just always recommend the series 8 over the series 9 but in this case like this one has enough features that I think if you're looking at it and you got the funds I would go with the series 10 over the series 8 series 9 now if you have a series 9 should you upgrade it's really up to you your only real features is that bigger screen and the sleep app Nea detection there's not too much there in that case I wouldn't really think it's worth the upgrade unless you're somebody like me that just has to have that latest tech and if you are then you have my full permission you just tell your wife or your husband or whatever that the Apple bias said that you should upgrade now if you if you don't want to upgrade and you're not wanting to spend the money if you're not like me then you know holding off you will be completely fine so don't worry about missing out on features there's not enough there really that in my opinion is worthy of upgrading a series 8 or series 9 watch but like I said the series 7 Series 6 if you've had those and you've had those for a couple years now there's a really good chance that battery life is really hurting right now anyway so if you have the money I would recommend just go ahead and get the series 10 it is an amazing watch and if you're in the market and you have enough money the titanium one is the way to go you get that Sapphire screen which is super durable I've never scratched a screen with these where the other watches they just scratch so easily so that's it for this video I hope it's helped you I hope it's helped you decide which one to get like I said it's been a month with this watch and I have been loving every single day with it so thank you so much so so much for watching I hope you have a great one God bless
