so why choose to grow up 5000 yes one of the reasons and this is not the main reason is the solar array this thing will handle if you look here the voltage to 430 max pv is 450 okay and you can do 6 000 watts of solar coming into this so the pv is important making just getting close that way you can see those numbers these things ain't hardly even working that's just running the regular 120 on the house right now we'll have those numbers up a little higher when the 220 kicks on but your normal 120 and whatnot is not gonna have your inverters working very hard and just letting you have a look at the temperature so your transformer don't work very hard either the new batteries have made it to where i have the power turned off all the time now none of these breakers are on the main powers off that goes that comes in from the grid so if you're wondering i've heard videos about how the disc transformer will fight with the one out there on that power pole well if you get a large enough battery bank and i've got ten thousand five hundred dollars into this battery bank not including shipping and this is the most expensive part of this whole thing i've got 3 000 and i think it's 50 into the this is 350 and these are 8.99 each so that's 3050. i paid about 140 a piece for these two boxes and my my wire way i've got two of the three foot sections and one five foot section and i've got 180 dollars into that and then the different pieces of conduit i am gonna change out the pv erase um things i got the dual that's got a dual there i'm going to change them out to single that way this one will stay the same unless i get a fourth inverter and then i'll isolate that one but we're going to go ahead and put these two on their own pv isolator that that switch just turns off the solar panels [Music] i have those on order and they're not here yet i also have my communication hub on order and it's almost a week late already it got held up in dallas at the u.s postal service i guess they lost it for three days so now i'll take you out and show you why one of the reasons that i really like these inverters [Music] so this is my 32 panel solar array [Music] needs to be cleaned off we'll go ahead and wash that off maybe today and this is how simple the wiring is okay i don't know if you can see the colors but the red marks positive the black is negative and you have the positive and negative and they're just hooked in series you have eight of those hooked in series you come right back up okay then they come down here and go into this box and this box does the uh has all four there's four different strings eight panels in series real simple all you do is have your positive and negative and you just hook them in all together snap them together okay and then you end up with your positive and negative i don't know if you can see that those have black the ones up there have white on them that way you know the different strings and the same goes here just hooked in series and the numbers off of the panels here these are rated at 40 volts and 9.37 amps
so we have 360 volts and 9.37 amps on each one of these arrays so we have four different strings that come in here and go down and down through the conduit i did run an extra conduit should i decide to put more solar panels out so far i don't i don't think i need to do that but and somebody asked about my grounds well i've got a grounding rod down there buried in the ground and there's two grounding rods here one of them is down here buried in the ground you can see the grounding wire and the other one runs out there about eight feet so and that's what grounds my panels i have no ground running from my panels into my powershed all of my all of my panels have a ground running across the top and you'll see uh the grounding lugs up there [Applause] well after the snow and everything looks like my panels are getting you know they're dirty and the birds poop on them so we'll get out here and wash them off wait till it warms up a little bit more today but these grow 5000 from signature solar are very easy to hook up and they handle the power i have three of them which gives me 15 000 watts i did a load test with over 10 000 watts going through my inverse on the 120 because i was testing my transformer and uh the transformer only handles the imbalance and that's what people are not you know some people are trying to make it sound like you can't run more than 5000 watts if you have a transformer midpoint transformer but you can actually run more than that [Music] and that's that's my dogs here these guys are the reason why we bought this property if you notice back here the irrigation district owns from my fence line to the fence line of the houses down below i don't know those are like uh 20th of an acre lots with those houses built on them which makes them pretty small and here like my dogs can go running and stuff like that [Applause] so makes for a lot more room and while we're out here just to mention this [Applause] make sure you hook up your conduit correctly now this is some of my old conduit oh these here when you run your conduit make sure you hook these up all going the same direction that way when you're pulling your wire i only pull my wire with the string i pulled eight wires with the string but all of these all of these are hooked up in the same direction [Applause] so it goes like that well it goes together like that okay so if you have them all going the right direction and you don't have see out here we pull from out here going over to our power shed and if you run your conduit the correct way your wires will not hit resistance so we just we just ran it like that you know make sure and since i had so much room here i just ran my wire out there along that open area coming over here and then we fed it and i had my kid inside pulling the wire so if you if you don't do it correctly you'll have resistance and i've i experienced that firsthand before make sure you get the wire with these ends on it or the conduit with these ends on it and then make sure you run it in the right direction if you see try never to do this that's a bad idea okay it makes it harder to pull your wire also try not to do this okay they have they have these 90s that actually have this fittings on them i don't have any left over now but when i ran my new conduit that's what i did because here your wires will get caught in there sometimes so try to make sure you get the 90s with this belt end already on it that way your wire flows nice and easy so [Applause] this from conduit that i've ripped out that i had in at one time i learned that the hard way spent money on something and then ended up having to redo it so i just wanted to give you an overview on how my solar is wired and will uh you know try to answer any questions or anything like that this is actually i didn't really pay a whole bunch for these i bought the the the pipe all from a local supplier i did buy the kit you can see the top cap and all the all the u-bolts and stuff okay this is all iron ridge mounting and i i bought all the iron ridge kit to go on the three inch pipe they have kits for two inch pipe also but you you don't you end up paying shipping on all these products that you have sent so if you can source your metal and whatnot if you can source all this locally it saves you money you can end up saving a lot of money by sourcing your framework locally and i thought about putting up wood but they told me that i needed uh for our area we get some wind and uh they said that you need certain amount these are buried four and a half feet deep and that's what was recommended for our area [Applause] and if you don't get it buried or what not i guess the wind lifted uh do something i mean that's a big sail 32 panels that's a pretty big sail if uh the wind affected it so we uh we tried to avoid that and while we're here okay these are out positive and negative and you it's you can't you can't hook them up wrong just all you do is snap it together it's really simple i used to drive truck and you know i i figured out how to do it real easy and you can too iron ridge actually has programs on the internet that you can go in and design your racking system that's what i did and you want to print that out because i had mine mine passed the county inspection so you want to print out your your design and then it shows them why you put it you know four and a half feet down and each area is different just because i put it mine down four and a half feet and your hole has to be 12 inches around in order to pass code for for my area i i don't want to say that all of you have to do that but for this area four and a half feet and 12 inches round hole that way it'll hold up to the wind [Music] and [Applause] you don't have to use a combiner box with this system so all i have is a junction box and i did not run the saw pv wire underground dang it this is a weatherproof box this is 10 gauge wire in here and this is your pv wire hooking up to your regular 10 gauge wire and these are the different runs each one is a different color and they're all color coded according to the each panel so i only ran the regular 10 gauge down to my conduit this stuff sticker and probably give you more resistance so hopefully that helps you guys figure out what you want to do with your pv wire anyways please like comment and subscribe thank you
