Welcome to the Northern Kentucky University Haile/US Bank College of Business December 2020 Virtual Commencement. To begin the ceremony, please welcome Dr. Hassan HassabElnaby, dean of the Haile/US Bank College of Business. Hello! I'm Hassan HassabElnaby, Dean of the Haile/US Bank College of Business. It is my honor to present our graduates today. The Haile/US Bank College of Business is committed to providing a top-quality, well-rounded business education that equips our graduates with the skills and tools crucial to succeed in today's challenging global environment.
We achieve this by promoting academic excellence, focusing on building a strong community of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partnerships locally and globally that contribute to excellence and business education engagement. The college offers three graduate degrees- MBA, Master of Accountancy, and Masters of Business Leadership and Innovation. In addition, the college offers over 11 areas of study for undergraduate degrees.
The achievement of earning these degrees is a strong indication of a commitment to learning and leadership. And so today, it is my honor and great pleasure to congratulate the graduates from the Haile/US Bank College of Business who have successfully completed all requirements for the degrees for which they have been recommended by our faculty. Graduates, Congratulations! Hello 2020 graduates, congratulations on your big achievement! We are honored to celebrate this very important moment in your life. We are so proud of you because you did it, and you did it during such a difficult time.
I know we are sending future business leaders into the world. So go and show them how great you are. We will be here cheering for you and waiting to hear about your great achievements in the years to come! Congratulations! Hi, I know it’s an incredibly challenging and terrifying time for you to graduate with so much uncertainty in our society. You fear – will I be safe? Will my family and friends be safe? Will I have a job? It’s ok to be scared. But I HAVE ZERO doubt you are better prepared than most to face the challenges and opportunities ahead.
I know this because I have watched in awe, your resilience. Many of you juggled multiple jobs, family, and school - and did it with so much grace and sincerity that I could not help but ask -from what universe did they come? Congratulations on a well-deserved graduation. Seek empathy in all you do out there. You will do great things, and you will make a good world better. Thank You.
Hello everybody. I am so excited to be here with you today and in this moment. Let me tell you my message is going to be somewhat different. Five different stories of people who were in your shoes in May 2020. Each of them worried about the same things you are worrying about, very likely in this moment. Each of them decided to take a different path to overcome those worries.
Let me start with Adam. Adam was at an internship at Burke. He liked the company so he started asking around to see if he could turn the internship into a full-time position, and he did.
So he graduated with a full-time job. Haley. Haley was in an internship as well. She didn't like it so much so she started looking for jobs elsewhere. By the time she graduated, she had a full-time offer at P.L.
Marketing. Kayla. Kayla graduated and then she started looking for a job. After two months, in August 2020, she finally landed her big job at Procter and Gamble. Emma.
Emma had a job. A part-time job like many of you do at Dick's Sporting Goods. She started asking around and she discovered their were internships that were available that she would enjoy doing so today she works full-time at Dick's Sporting Goods and she calls it a dream job.
Peter. Like Emma, he was at a part-time job at UPS. He was working there for six months and a couple of weeks ago, he finally landed his first job as a digital marketing specialist. So guys, believe me, if they can do it, you can do it too. Just remember that it's just a first job.
When you get the job, keep learning. Asking people, meeting people, learning their stories. What they do, what they like to do. Think about their jobs because they are the ones that will help you understand maybe your next step.
Next step within the same company or maybe a different one. Enjoy it and congratulations. We will always be here for you.
