A new dawn! - GregTech: Technological Journey | Minecraft Modpack | Ep. 1
g'day how are all doing welcome back to a strange and unfamiliar new land so we're actually in the world of technological Journey this is a 1.12.2 uh Greg Tech pack based on Greg o'callity I believe and a few different atoms so as you see here we've got quite a few different ages in the quest book this pack is quite in depth now I'm actually decided to sir I am trying to cut wood anyway I've actually decided to to start solo on this pack because I was previously if you've watched any of my uh older videos I was previously running a Great Tech New Horizon series and I was quite enjoying it but it's a little overwhelming as anyone who's played New Horizons will know it's a pretty big pack and it's a pretty big time investment and I'd really like to to continue on it but do I have a couple of issues so the current playthrough I have on New Horizons is on a server and good little Community we've got a few players but I have a few issues unfortunately playing on the server I get disconnects quite a lot I get a bit of lag it's I'm pretty sure it's just my side I don't think it's anything wrong with the server but I've kind of just had a hard time motivation wise trying to get back on that world trying to make some more progress and it's a little bit overwhelming like I said so here we go we've got our first Quest done here gives us some goodie bags do I have to okay I have to collect all these so technological journey is quite a difficult pack it's also quite a big time investment but it's got a few more quality life stuff so as you can see here it's kind of similar to Nami Factory we get some tools to start with we get a scanner um a few modules for it rangefinder some ore scanners get a really nice Diamond Hammer with amazing enchantment it's even better than what you get in Nami Factory and so as much as I'd like to continue on oh I don't know I need to turn off auto jump that is terrible and just make sure my video settings are all good yes so yeah as much as I'd like to continue on New Horizons it's just a bit much it's a big time investment at the moment I'm next year I'm going to be returning to study it's a student at University and trying to keep up playing New Horizons might be a bit tricky there's also a lot that I don't know about Greg Tech I've learned a lot from playing Nomi Factory I've almost finished Nomi Factory CE that's on the dev version 1.3 and I'm currently playing through the ceu version with a good friend of mine you can check out that series on my channel be linked also in the description below but oh actually let me see if we can hold that mines quickly let's see if we can is this a bit of coal perfect oh my God that is ridiculously quick my God it's like insta-click all right let's just grab up a little bit of oh blink mate that looks almost identical called a coal in this one grab up a quick collection of this just so you can get some basics I might uh quickly make some torches so normally I would kind of cut out this kind of early game stuff you know everyone's seen it before everyone knows what it's like but just uh kind of giving a small update about where I'm at for for New Horizons so I decided that yeah because it's it's a pretty steep pack and there's a lot going on it might be best if I get a bit more experience with gregtech before sort of diving into the deep end with um New Horizons so whilst technological journey is certainly not an easy pack either by itself and it is also still quite a Time investment I feel like it's a little bit more achievable at the moment than a playthrough on New Horizons so I'm gonna give this pack a good crack uh it's got quite a lot of awesome stuff in it it's got a huge huge extended end game got so many different ages it's got the steamage as well which is kind of condensed which I like so we don't have to spend too much time here hopefully but I actually quite enjoy the steamage the steam machines I know they're slow and a bit awful to power but I kind of like the steampunky vibe got like time and a bottle here we've got I believe this is to place uh yeah for building and debugging multi-blocks so that's really handy we've got access to applied energistics I believe in the LV age yeah so a lot of this stuff just uses lb one thing I really really like is having Early Access to ae2 you know I don't know some people might think oh it's a little bit broken you know like 82 is something you've got to work for which I can see why some people would think that but personally in such a crazy pack like gravetech you know like having access to a too early on is really just a lifesaver it just makes everything so much easier that you store all your stuff in one place you know you can start with auto crafting and as soon as I get Auto crafting you know I can Chuck it like uh patterns interfaces or machines have things requested through the computer it just makes life a whole lot easier now one thing I'm a little unprepared for in this pack is the chemistry lines uh I've heard they are quite intense I know I think it starts my Eva even Evie here we've got oh my God die 2 ethyl hexial phosphoric acid P I don't even know how to pronounce some of these this is crazy so I think it's got a huge focus on chemistry here but one thing I am excited for with this pack is there is some crazy crazy multi-box like we've got the uh the Stellar Forge here you can see this is just a crazy size multi-block we've got I believe the large the Mega Blast Furnace is it electric Blast Furnace yeah Mega Blast Furnace we've got uh there's like a cosmic ray collector which is like a satellite dish it just looks absolutely awesome so I think we're going to start with here I'm just going to click some quick coal here for some torches and hello zombie you want a piece of me hey there you go how'd that work out for you buddy uh the other thing too is I think like the survival aspects here aren't as difficult as New Horizons like we don't have spice alive we haven't got um crazy difficult mobs which I didn't mind so much in New Horizons like the difficulty is pretty crazy but it was really satisfying you know like each achievement that you got in New Horizons even though again I haven't played too far it still felt like something that you were working for so I've got a pretty decent spawn here I've just spawned in actually right next to this asteroid or meteor from uh from applied energetics got a nice Forest around here a bit of a mountain range thing I like about these mountains there's lots of stained clay up there which is really useful for building materials but since it is about to be Nightfall I think I might just quickly get a bed I've got plenty of sheep around here oh that's ah cool see so the bed recipe is actually default that is uh that is really nice in uh New Horizons you can't even make a bed without basic hand tools I don't think which is pretty nuts but I think this Pack's gonna serve as a bit of a uh uh I don't know education on the more difficult aspects of Greg Tech because Nomi Factory is probably the easiest Greg Tech pack I'd say it's um kind of direct Tech with the training wheels and oh we've already got a few baddies over here we're doing skeleton with a diamond chest plate interesting it'd be nice if you dropped it no I'm sorry Mr spider you're gonna have to go to so I don't really know where I'm gonna set up shop I suppose I should just kill them I've got a baby cow sorry I just had to murder your father I needed his food I think we might just set up a little uh little hidey hole might even we've got this excavator here so I might even do a I think right here oh God this thing mines so quickly it's ridiculous here can we get on the top here and break you oh I just literally my God I like just like left click and it's just instantly mined my God all right see if we can get this a bit even so just dig a little hole down here oh well those items go do they so strange they just disappeared oh I wonder if it has a quick D spawn timers moving on all right yeah I think this is the go since I've got such a crazy overpowered hammer just get a little Hobbit Hole going and we're gonna start I think just with the basics the same same way as I would in Nami Factory I suppose just getting now basic oars down uh gonna need a chest real quick which I don't have enough wood for so I'll check you here but first I think let's get some of this coal cooked up so we can get some food and not starve to death instantly we've got an apple here alrighty so I'm going to get started on some basic resource collection I'm gonna get a couple of chests in here start doing some scanning with the prospector I think um mine out will Mark out I should say a few veins we've got a couple close ones I remember the colors I think yellow is like pitch blend I think or phosphorus White's quartz no blue can be lapis or sodium let's see what that big one is there that'll be if that's iron that would be really handy but yeah so I'm gonna get some basic resource collected get some wood get some chess get some basic oils and I will catch you guys in a second [Music] [Music] your little are back so a bit of a short mining short mining session but I've noticed that the uh yeah the oars here aren't terribly difficult to find so we've got a whole bunch of different Wars as well with the different rocks we've got like granite and diorite oars now the quest book does say that it's a it's a good idea to put a hammering enchantment on this so it just breaks it down into the raw ore and I'm starting to think that that might be a good idea because even just here look like malachite is so so many different types and actually if you Hammer these oh you can actually get quite a bit of stuff from them yeah so I'm thinking let me get an anvil the hammering enchantment even the anvil recipe is like easy so yeah I think oh 31 ingots and an anvil mold and an alley smelter for 800 seconds oh my gosh all right well let's grab up a bit of stuff here that's been cooking it's going to be the lignite colon there for some fuel uh we're out here so I might just pop you guys in there so I think yeah I'll move these pause over as well I do need to get a ax of some sort I want to make a Greg ax but I believe we need some hand tools for that first I'm not sure if the Greg Tech ax in this version okay so it's pretty normal it's just plates Ingot file hammer I think we might have enough I just want to see if the Greg Tech acts in this uh version actually vein mines trees like Cuts them all down so I think all I need is no a hammer I can remember it's two plates Ingot Hammer file yes there we go iron ax head beautiful and we can combine that with a stick to get an X now let's see if this will give us a some large amounts of wood because I know in Nami Factory CEUs this is in the lumber ax so it will chop the entire tree oh oh yeah there we go beautiful oh my God I love that so much man I will say Greg Tech tools are pretty fantastic so I'm using the realistic terrain generator oh not another Skelly I've already died to use uh get out of here [ __ ] you stupid skeleton God I hate them so much so yeah we've got uh realistic terrain generation which I I used to really like biomes or plenty but I found this just too much I played a lot of packs with biomes at plenty I I used to love adding it to my own packs but I've just found that now it's it's a bit much so I added a realistic train generation because that's what New Horizons has and I kinda kind of fallen in love with it so anyway we uh got a bit of wood because I want to make a storage crate here we are because this is another Quest as well and these are just like super easy to make they're super super simple and they just have so much storage space oh there we are I think that's a quest yeah perfect so we might actually break you are you gonna okay cool I thought that might have been in mind the other chest there and I was like that would have been a little bit of a nightmare yeah so like Pro tip if you ever have drawers actually I'll put you guys back in here too you ever have drawers and you mine them with a Greg ax uh it will find mine all of them I believe and that can be a bit of a nightmare so we've got drawers here as well which is fantastic so put this stuff away quickly check the quest so we've got now we get a rose Gold Hammer for this interesting I mean I've already got an iron Hammer but that's a little bit more durability I guess why not free Hammer I'll take it um wow I didn't I didn't get my hammer hammers for making your first few raw iron so you don't have to make a single worst Hammer before making a raw iron one huh fair enough and oh we got another crate too for this perfect now do we actually have any furnace upgrades oh my God we do and glass furnace oh my God what is and we've got come up in Geo twice apparently interesting so I haven't seen the glass furnace upgrade from the dynavers I've seen the obsidian but I wonder what the glass furnace does I might have to look into that but we've got oh these are even cheaper recipes too relatively we get gold gravel or does this gold spawn nice oh gold spawns in the nether interesting okay so we might be a little bit off until we can get some furnace upgrades but that's okay because they are really just a lifesaver honestly like they uh um so much quicker than vanilla furnaces even like when you get into the you know LV age they're just so much quicker than electric furnaces so now this pack has iron furnaces and they're pretty cheap like I need to go and Beyond may not be worth it now due to your gold limitations yeah okay but we can still do iron so that's fair enough so I might actually break all of these we've got already a bit of iron to start off with we're gonna do a couple of upgrades here perfect and since it's so easy to make how about we get suited up in a nice shiny set of iron armor perfect sorry leather near out irons in check these bad boys here I might divide hole between the bottom two and then one two three four and that's all we need four oops sometimes splitting can be pretty janky honestly but anyway Chuck you guys in there all right perfect so I might use actually I use this top crate here for like smelted stuff we use the bottom crate here for all put through some tin just to get that started put some more iron through got a tiny bit of copper there put some more banded iron luminite yellow luminite malachite perfect yeah so these veins are pretty pretty wild pretty big pretty easy and I don't think we're gonna have much trouble collecting a vast amount of oils that's for sure and this is what I like about packs like this like I really did enjoy the New Horizons you know kinda grind it is satisfying but I mean having an easier early game like this really just makes me a lot more motivated with these kind of packs to really get stuck into the technical stuff or even these are a lot quicker wow that's awesome alrighty so we've got oh we get a free Iron furnace for that Quest too uh all right I might Chuck you Let's uh retrieve Mr head here I might put this one here my head can rest just on top of it the first death of the series so what have we got so raw irons interestingly enough made a bit differently here yeah it's it's not an actual hot Ingot at least it won't burn you pretend you're not allowed to hold it or something oh that's right so we smelt the iron and then we get hot iron oh and then we just hammer it and we can do it in a primitive alley smelter with steam interesting all right well put a bit of iron here so I may as well start chucking this through uh these top ones here will put a bit more we had a bit of iron all there perfect we'll start putting that through okay the hot iron going in here a little bit of copper tweets I think we just Hammer this here perfect and we get wrought iron nice we are smashing these quests out so I get copper and Tin that's the beginning of the steam age I'm gonna collect that there perfect beautiful and where are we oh there we go so the file Quest oh you will need to find a magnetite luminite pyridal mineral Sands vein for iron this iron optionally converted to wrought iron can be used to make the tools quite for early Greg Tech you need several most of these tools so I don't get too attached ah yeah all good you'll need to find a magnetite eliminite pyrite or mineral Sands vein for iron this iron obviously converted to Raw iron can be used to make the tools required for early Greg Tech you'll need several most of these tools so I don't get too attached so oh this is pretty fairly fairly normal so we've covered this before uh well there are several tools not mentioned here these are the ones required to get through early game Greg Tech almost all the crafting functionality this handles will be superseded by machines once you unlock LV and basic electricity of course uh okay yeah cool so that's pretty standard so we just need screwdriver wire cutter mortar and a wrench and we'll get 10 iron plates cool so we've also got access here to the aroma mining Dimension the void Dimension but they contain no alt intended for building so it's pretty cool but I like building in the old world so I don't think we'll be moving over to them anytime soon we might perhaps but we'll see how we go all right so we're going to hammer up oh this hot Iron's a bit transparent interesting anyway so that's some easy wrought iron there and what we're going to do with that get some Stones smelted from the smelt up a bunch because you never know when you're going to need it so we've already got a hammer in a file so let's make a wrench a screwdriver wire cutter and a mortar I believe the wrench is that in a hammer no damn you think by now I'd be able to memorize these ah it's plates I see see one two three four five plates and then nope six one extra there we go check our six plates in sweep there's our hammer should have easily enough Stone there from mortar perfect now a screwdriver I think it's a little oh no that's an electric screwdriver okay so I'm gonna need a file which I believe let's see if I can remember this one two plates and a stick ah see what I love about these crafting stations as well as they can attach to inventories ah perfect file and then we file down two rods and it's a file and a hammer and a stick and a screwdriver nice I'm actually starting to get the hang of these tools perfect so we'll put uh the raw stuff in there put these sticks back I'll get out the rest of this smelting up here we're definitely going to need to find a better copper vein because a malachite is mixed in with a lot of iron so the return on that's kind of crappy ah missing the wire cutters who are they made when we plate plate plates rod rod and screwed so we're gonna need a bit more rot so we need one two three I'm gonna need two rods I already made them I already made an iron file that's all right we're gonna go through multiples of these anyway so screw is two bolts one rod is two bolts no please I think we need a sword uh no we do need a saw okay I saw ears two plates file and a hammer oh okay we're gonna need a little bit more raw I think I might just make this out of iron for now I know how awful hit two plates and a file and a hammer saw nice and then I'm pretty sure just combine this with a stick perfect saw Rod two bolts and then two bolts and a file gives us a screw now should be able to make someone my cutters we have the recipe for raw here come on surely it's not too far for the wall there we go perfect look at that oh cool chapter unlocked Oh chapter completed beginning nice so all of this is optional stuff okay and we get 10 iron plates nice so let me see backpack oh that's definitely something we'll seek out I think combining oh with iron backpacks as well awesome now does this have so chest extra great Point Blank upgrade to latch upgraded yeah I've seen anything that sucks is the um Iron backpacks this mod doesn't have all of the upgrades in it yet I don't know if it'll be updated for 1.12 but uh yeah that's the only backpack I might actually add a different backpack
mod to be honest because as cool as these are they uh just storage emphasis yeah we can't do much with the upgrading [Music] alrighty so backpack something will sort I think next episode the Greg Tech ax we already made one of those and a Dev null let's don't date no I've never actually used death nulls before so that's something I'd definitely like to get into but for now we've got some basic tools you've got a bit of storage down I might just keep moves in here for now just so we can keep track of them food not too much of an issue but some plates here so we've done the beginning quests very easy to smash out steamage is what we're going to begin on next I think between episodes I'm gonna find a few more veins get more of the basics done I know this episode is a lot of Mining and a lot of chatting but just wanted to kind of give you guys an update about where I'm at what's happening with New Horizons and what we're doing now this is going to replace the New Horizons season series I should say four now but I am definitely I think when I get more comfortable with Greg I'm going to give New Horizons another shot because hey it wouldn't be New Horizons without a second season and another play through and it's taken some people many playthroughs to to make significant process so yeah we'll see how we go we might even be doing maybe destroying my house we might even be doing New Horizons with a couple of friends just to make a little bit easier anyway I hope you guys are having a fantastic day and I will see you guys in the next episode catch ya
